"Add a dash of fog along with the 80 mph speed limit in Texas - not good!"
====================
Typically complete ignorance posted above, speed limit in Beaumont on IH 10 is 65 mph.

"Ever drive in Houston....if so, you would understand."
====================
Another completely ignorant post, Beaumont is 90 miles or so East of Houston.

And then there's just plain stupid......

Driving in fog is really dicey--much worse than icy roads or dust storms.

Tragic accidents are always accidental - that's why they're called "accidents" - unless you can prove fault in their cause.

That's why it helps to avoid driving in the fog, you never know what's in front of you.

we have a couple of heavy fog interstate areas locally...Fancy Gap Mt. and Afton Mt. ....and they can quickly become treachorous for driving.

For one going east from Houston, the sun shining on that fog bank made it impossible to see.

Absolutely horrific. Ther terrible part - beyond the accident itself, is apparently, the fog can roll in fast and quite heavy with little or no warning.

The fog on Wednesday night near Gonzalez, Texas on US 183 just suddenly appeared for for 10 to 30 yards and then it was gone and it was clear as a bell. Ten, fifteen or twenty minutes later another fog bank of 10 to 30 yards would appear and then clear up. This kind of fog in and then fog out driving is nerve wracking.

One wonders if similar conditions were occurring near Beaumont Friday morning.
