If we are talking about a decrease in the law enforcement effort that apprehend criminals, solve crimes and control anarchy, then this is a serious loss. This loss of budget dollars and manpower should be made up by corresponding cuts in social welfare spending.
If we are talking about a decrease in the number of patrol officers hiding behind bill boards, on the down side of over passes, thirty yards down intersecting roads, using unmarked vehicles, handing out speeding tickets to one an all not actually caught driving 15 MPH over the maximum posted speed limit, then we did not really need these officers in the first place.

The same has happened in countless other states, including Oregon. Progressive politicians falling all over each other to steal funds from infrastructure and public safety to spend on social feel-good projects.
Social feel-good projects are useless without an infrastructure to support them.

Other areas should be cut first. Not the State Troopers!

This is one big reason to support the national rifle association. For $25 or $35 you can be a one year member. This can help you to be prepared, protect your family and property legally. Police response time is getting longer By the day. Know how to protect yourself. Signs of the times are here my friends.

Before the price of gas went to $4 a gallon I would see state troopers every place I looked. I believe that the police are told by the governments & big oil not to give so many tickets out. The faster you drive the more gas you will use. The more gas used the more money the government & big oil make. If these same state troopers wrote a ticket for every vehicle I see speeding they would have enough money to get the 1150 troopers back on the road. A speeding ticket is cash flow. Cash flow is also used for payroll.

SLED is facing the same problems many states are experiencing. Here, we have exactly the same number of State Troopers today as the state had thirty years ago....376. Tell me times are not tough. And still, this affects gas prices...how?

$70,000 less burden to the taxpayers. It will find its way back into the economy and still generate state sales tax revenue plus stimulate productivity which in turn will grow more dollars for jobs and cycling back around to the economy.

Budget cuts and restricted growth has to happen. Our government spends too much. Public safety and law enforcement are important areas but efficiencies can be achieved and cost benefit analysis done.
