The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has designed four new license tags, with sleek, smooth surfaces, better readability, and seven characters instead of the traditional six.

As for the plates' additional details, state officials want you to decide.

There are probably 200 designs out there for Texas alone. You can get plates for many out-of-state universities here, and all the in-state universities. .

I would hope the first responders would act first and worry about what state the vehicle is registered to later. Much later. On the other hand, the state name is invariably in big text.

Why do states have the need to create new designs for their license plates every couple of years? It is making vehicle identification nearly impossible as there are some 200 designs out there for the 50 states! How are we ever to know what state a car is registered to in case of emergencies where vehicle identification is of paramount importance? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it works" well here.

They are going to vote on license plate designs... this will take decades to count the votes. Since when has Florida ever been able to vote in a timely manner. And this will mean more hanging chads. But look at the good side. The cross eyed guy will be able to have a job.

Florida to vote of new license plate designs? I wonder how that state will screw-up that vote as it does with so many of its other elections.
