Gasoline rationing for drivers in New York City has been extended through Friday.

The odd-even license plate system for gasoline and diesel purchase, instituted on Nov. 9 following the aftereffects of superstorm Sandy, was scheduled to end on Monday.

I think someone at the top likes this rationing thing and will probably push to make it permanent. Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Considering how Bloomberg wants to ration sodas to 16 ounces at a time, it makes one wonder how necessary this is.

Make it permanent and that will force people to think about conserving.

LOL, seriously PDQ, the anthropogenic GW theories are pure balderdash, especially concerning Sandy. Overall tropical activity is at minimums in recorded history. Take a gander back 60 to 70!years ago and check the tropical activity along the Eastern Seaboard then get back to us.

This was a minimal hurricane that the governments of NY, NJ and the Feds had a week to prepare for and failed miserably.

A brief history of NY hurricanes:

1821, a hurricane passed directly over NY city with a tidal surge of over 13 feet.

1893, a Cat 1 hurricane destroys a resort island of NY Queens area.

1938, the strongest known storm, a Cat 3, killed 10 people in NY City.

Between 1954 and 1960, hurricanes Carol, Connie, Diane and Donnie struck the NY areas.

Breathing in the Al Gore crapola does not have any bearing on Sandy, she was just another in a long line of storms to hit the area.

Hurricane Sandy knocked the wind out of NY and NJ. If the US doesn't do something to address global warming, these storms and this kind of damage will happen quite regularly.

"Price gouging" would have increased supply and reduced demand, and resolved the gasoline shortages and lines very quickly. Instead gas stations can't "gouge" so people wait in lines.

For the week after Sandy I didn't drive, I walked, unless I was heading upstate... where I could buy all the gas I wanted and didn't have to wait in line.

Waiting in line for gasoline is not capitalism... it is bureaucratic insanity.
