Restaurant chains Pizza Hut and KFC are against ethanol because of higher food costs.
The price of corn dropped 50% in last 6 months.
When are they going to drop their prices 50%?
Summer of 2013 corn was over $7 per bushel now is little over $4 per bushel.
When is food going to drop in price?

Prices will never drop.

They have everyone conditioned to the high price so if you do find it lower than the new "Normal Price" you think you're getting a deal.

Just like gas. Anything under $3/ gal is an awesome price. But when you think about it, you're still paying around $3/ gal.

Last night I was able to get 30 gal of 87 for under $2/ gal. I was giddy with excitement about it. Then I thought about it for a minute. I was still paying around $2 FOR it.

I paid $2.75 for corn in a country elevator 40 tears ago.
Drop your wages back to the levels of 40 years ago and then we will discuss the disparities of corn and food prices.

The per bushel price of corn is selling below what it did forty years ago. Is pizza and chicken selling for less than it did 40 years ago? The answer is no. But, corn is.

Had the price of corn kept up with inflation it would be selling for almost $20 a bushel. This past week, the cash price of corn was as low as $2.75 and lower.

Puzzling, isn't it? Not really. Farming is like any other industry. As market demand increased for corn, farmers simply grew more corn to meet market demand.

Corn Cash Price

Please educate us. How exactly will getting rid of Ethanol lower food cost? How exactly did ethanol raise the cost of food? Let's see some proof. Is there a possibility you just made up this garbage?

Get rid of Ethanol and we can see cheaper Food cost! All Ethanol did was deferr Corn From Food to Fuel and raise its cost! It did not lower the country dependant to Carbon Based Fuel as it takes Carbon Based Fuel to change the Corn to Ethanol!

New crop new is priced at $4.17 per bushel in my area that is about break even for corn producers.
People in USA have the cheapest most plentiful and safest food in the world.
If you do not believe me go out in public or look at a friend or family member or yourself and observe how many people are overweight and obese.
If food was expensive and scarce people would be skinny and few people over weight.
Ethanol is not making food prices higher.

Labor, rent, insurance, energy, marketing make up most of the price of your fatty fast food. The price of corn is largely irrelevant.

If Pizza hut and KFC are too expensive for you, there plenty of other fast foods to eat! I myself, don't find their prices high around here.

As usually wrong questions for the purpose of steering the conversation off the topic. Back on the topic. When will food industry lower their prices since the corn price dropped? Let's see the answer Shockjock1961.

"ETHANOL? What the heck does ETHANOL have to do with food prices"

Why you answered your own question Hannie. Ethanol is energy, and you blame energy prices for the high food prices. GrumpyCat proposed an interesting question. When are ethanol prices going to fall? After all corn prices have fallen, so shouldn't ethanol follow suite?

Barry, to answer your question, food is not gonna drop. That is because ethanol has nothing to do with food prices. HERE'S YOUR PROOF YOU OIL SHILLS. There was NEVER a correlation!!!! The shills lied, thats all they do! Unless ENERGY prices drastically drop, there will be no decrease in food. Because the majority of what we consume is industrialized, processed, caloric energy (hesitate to call it food) that is produced in factories and transported to markets. ETHANOL? What the heck does ETHANOL have to do with food prices. NOTHING and it's now proven!

Barry, you touch on the fact that ethanol is a scapegoat for alot of monopolies in this country that are killing us. oil, big food, etc. When something is good for our country and the world, like ethanol from whatever source is best to make it, those that hold the power will spare no lie to keep it off the market. They want to make sure you only buy petroleum and only eat processed, unhealthy foods.
