Have you seen the new API ad they're running to push back against the RFS?

Sorry tdioiler....E-85 is on fire this summmer. Sales are way up. Your friends at the API are running scared. Exactly why the ad dawrinfinch mentions is out. I used to be the only one at the e-85 islands when I was blending the good stuff. Now, I am rarely the only one at an e-85 pump.

Like it or not tdioiler, your friends are liars. They know ethanol works fine well beyond E-15 in any car. API has yet to prove a single instance of damage, yet look at the claims in the ad. They are false, period.

"In their latest ad, a guy in a 2004 Jeep Liberty says ethanol is bad for his vehicle. Note that the EPA has approved E15 for all vehicles 2001 and newer. And if you're worried about his warranty, it expired in 2011."

Unfortunately, that's about typical for Jeep owners, they tend to be hard right outside of my family. I've wondered if that's part of the reason that the Pentastar equipped Wrangler's aren't flex fuel. Although I'm kinda surprised that somebody with one of those Barbie and Ken Jeep's is that far to the right.

Hannie, REALLY? Selling like hot cakes? Or more like ice cubes to Eskimos!

The only reason for any increase has been RFS. Their ad is as libelous as the posts put in here that all ethanol is wonderful. And why so many plants shutting down and refiners backing out of cel plants here in Michigan? No margins, no tax credits, no fed money... no business model that sustains business. Bye bye.

But I can say the 2004 Liberty absolutely CAN handle E15 mixes. But if the idiot put E85 in, he is as dumb as they come and should be a poster child for the API to try such a dumb tactic.

API launches “Fuel for Thought” ad campaign on RFS repeal
“The economic consequences from the continued implementation of the RFS are severe. A study by NERA Economic Consulting found that, by 2015, of the U.S. would see a 300 percent increase in the cost of diesel, and a 30 percent rise in the cost of gasoline.”
If you want more lies, just watch the API's Repeal the RFS (television ad)

Same old BS they've been pushing for years. Well, actually when ethanol was relegated to a 10% blend (from oil's oversized foot on ethanol's neck to the ground), and they thought that would stick, they pulled back a little. Stuck to propaganda behind the scenes and buying off the auto makers. But, now that ethanol is selling like hotcakes, and cellulosic is emerging, they are ramping up the lies. This ad is actually libelous, but with the money of the API, nobody can afford to take them to court.
