I live Nevada now but I lived in the North Lake Tahoe Region for several years. From time to time you would read about gas prices in California in the newspapers. They tell you the average prices and then the lowest and highest prices at such and such city. I always wondered about the highest and where they get their information. I read that San Francisco was the highest in the state at $4.29/gal. Believe me Truckee/Donner Summit/Sierraville towns had that beat hands down. I worked for 5 gas stations in the area for the past 20 years. When I read that I would think hmmm our prices are $4.99/gal right now. I'm not quoting verbatim as I don't really remember what the real price was at the time of the reading a couple of years ago was. I was just always wondering about that. Anyone care to respond?
