I thought we were going to an all of the above strategy, gas ,oil, sun , waves, corn, nucular. and clean coal ! Do they just lie to appease people, i forgot this is politics!

It's really not that difficult to understand what's going on when the system is run by people who have to look like they can make meaningful decisions.

If you have an almost endless supply of other people's money and bet all the numbers on the roulette table, you're going to have some numbers come up and look like a winner.

My thought has always been follow the money. If you look at Federal susidies and tax breaks related to energy in the 2013 budget you will see that there are $16 billion in subsidies and tax breaks being given. About $4 billion is going to fossil fuels. That includes oil, natural gas, coal and shale production. The remaining $12 billion is split between wind, solar, bio fuels, and nuclear with wind being the biggest winner. So in the back halls of DC they are in their own way supporting multiple approaches. Just not always the approaches that posters here agree with.

I agree that the solution to energy needs is an all in approach... nothing should be off the table and all sorts of technologies should be invited into our energy solution mix.
