Try a flat tax, no deductions, no subsidies, easy to administer; but I am sure special interests would find a way to screw it up.

Another thread based on outright lies. Sheesh! It would be far better to reduce oil subsidies.

Why energy subsidies only Shockjock1961? Why not higher ed subsidies? Are you afraid that your paycheck could stop?
Reduce the US budget deficit - eliminate higher ed subsidies as well as Big Oil subsidies.

"Reduce the US budget deficit - eliminate Big Oil and coal subsidies!"
Eliminate all subsidies. Let people pay the true cost for their energy. Perhaps they would be less inclined to drive their fuel guzzlers if they had to do so...

Between 2002 and 2008, the United States handed out subsidies of $72 billion to fossil fuel (oil and coal) industries! During that same period of time ALL renewable energy resources were subsidized to the tune of a grand total of $29 billion! ALL, not ethanol, but ALL renewable energy! Source - the Environmental Law Institute in partnership with the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
Congress ended the credit of 45 cents per gallon refiners get for blending ethanol, and a tariff on imports of 54 cents per gallon, at the end of 2011.
Reduce the US budget deficit - eliminate Big Oil and coal subsidies!

“It just shows you how much the politicians are in the corn and ethanol producers pocket:” The statement by John McCain was from 2006.In McCain's 2008 presidential run for office he was once again speaking against ethanol. What you’ve shown us once again is that there is no shortage of inaccurate info on the internet from so called journalists that you choose to post to support your inane claims. More accurate statement might be that politicians such as John Mccain flip flop to the audience there speaking. McCain: Resentment remains in 2000 race By Mike Glover Associated Press Aug. 15, 2006 04:33 PM GRINNELL, Iowa (AP) --. McCain has worked to deflect criticism of his opposition to subsidies for ethanol, an important issue in corn-growing Iowa. "My position on ethanol is support for ethanol when oil went over $40 a barrel," he said. He said soaring gasoline prices make ethanol competitive in the marketplace. "I do not support subsidies, but I support ethanol and I think it is a vital alternative energy source, not only because of our dependence on foreign oil but because of its greenhouse reduction effects," he said. McCain's visit included a stop Tuesday in Grinnell, where he campaigned for state Rep. Danny Carroll.

It just shows you how much the politicians are in the corn and ethanol producers pocket:
"Before his 2008 run for president, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., opposed ethanol subsidies and said "No one would be willing to buy it" without federal mandates. In 2008 in a speech in Grinnell, Iowa, he declared it "a vital alternative energy source." That flip-flop from Congress' most famous "maverick" illustrates the power of ethanol special interests."

RogerB, Are you for real?
Please list all the federal ethanol subsidies. How about the gasoline subsidies. Are they fine by you?

The ethanol industry reduces the budget deficit. What federal ethanol subsides? If the ag subsides are eliminated what effect would there be on the ethanol industry?
