One of the plants mentioned in topic article as being closed has resumed operations.
Valero Energy Corp. has resumed operations at its 120 MMgy ethanol plant in Albion, Neb. “We restarted the Albion ethanol plant in the first week of February, after margins improved to the point where the plant could run profitably,” said Bill Day, executive director of media relations at Valero.

Nice ideology you got going there. I hope you enjoy giving your money to terrorists rather than US farmers. Keep up the good work.

Let me guess. Now, You going to tell me how you only buy American and Canadian oil products. That is called believing in your own lies.

I think they just don't want to pay that much for corn. Oh well, now they know how the rest of us feel about buying their product, when they themselves will not produce any because it cuts into their profit margin. I have no sympathy for them. It's all about greed.

What about all the wonderful alternatives to corn which ethanol apologists tout ad nauseam? If there was any truth to their claims these plants would not be closing.

Ok there JacksFan -- ya got me. I shoulda read the story more carefully/fully. If the price of corn is increased that much, maybe it'll affect the whiskey market as well ...

Good point jacksfan. A even bigger story is the closing of the Hess gasoline refinery which will likely drive the price of gasoline up here in the east.

What business failure, OceanArcher? Did you read the articles? Both are temporary shutdowns, and at the facility in Missouri, all employees will continue working.

While I'm sorry to see another business fail, the loss of ethanol for fuel does not stress me a bit. Good luck in finding new jobs, folks

Abengoa has been promising cellulosic from their York plant.

Don't think that has happened yet. It doesn't look like their construction additions have been successful. I drive past this one occasionally. It is getting squeezed by some close proximity higher volume plants.
