Shell, Waverly Road, Lansing
$3.25 E85
$3.68 Gasoline

Speedway, West Saginaw Highway, Lansing
$3.17 E85
$3.67 Gasoline

Speedway, South Cedar Street, Lansing
$3.16 E85
$3.66 Gasoline

Meijer, East Lansing
$3.14 E85
$3.64 Gasoline

Mobil, East Lansing (has a terrible price spread at this time)
$3.65 E85 (credit)
$3.71 Gasoline (credit)

Marathon, Lake Lansing Road, East Lansing
$2.72 E85
$3.72 Gasoline
$3.65 E15

Both of the last two are participating in yellow hose, a program where participating retailers are sold E85 at near-cost to the plant, on the condition that they maintain a $1/gallon spread between E85 and gas.

I don't see many E85 postings but the local Thornton gas station increased E85 from $2.99 to $3.49 about two weeks ago.

borsht, if GB would have E85 as a price post-able amenity, then it could be the E85 price center of the known universe, and this thread would be moot.

In the meantime, this is about the best way we have to share the basics about pricing trends, and the economic realities of E85 in the market(s).

It's also at least a nominally worthwhile way to earn points. ;-)

This is not a good way to find out the price of E85.

Is this because E85 is so insignificant?

Earlier this afternoon, roughly 40 miles straight west of Chicago along I-88...

Speedway, North Aurora
E85 $3.189
E10 $3.689/3.889/4.089

Thorntons, same intersection as Speedway
E85 $3.499
E10 $3.689/3.889/4.089

Woodman's Grocery, North Aurora
E85 $3.199
E10 $3.669/3.799/3.929 (debit/cash/check only)

Tough market for retailing E85 currently.

Earlier this evening...

Speedway, Oswego
E85 $3.099
E10 $3.599/3.799/3.999

Thornton's, Aurora
E85 $3.499
E10 $3.659/3.859/4.059

These two west/southwest suburban Chicago stations are 8 miles apart on US-34. For this area these are historically high E85 prices.

Pure ethanol is up 42% since the beginning of the year and the highest it's been since 2006: $3.02/gal in Chicago, $3.80/gal on the Gulf Coast and West Coast, and $4.00/gal in New York.

I am buying E85 at 85-1.00 less than gasohol. That's 20-28% less. I save 1.5-2 cents per mile. That's significant.

E-85 costs about 10 cents per gallon less than E-10 here, not enough less to make it economically feasible to use even if you have a flex fuel vehicle.
