Here's an interesting game. I will start with a highway and the next person will name a city that the highway runs through. The following person will then name a highway that runs through that city. Then after that, another person will name another city that the highway runs through. Etcetera...

I'll do the first 3 to start off.

Let's do a short hop south to...

Lewistown PA

Lewistown is home to the Pennsylvania State Fire School, which is the only such facility in the state. Firefighting in Lewistown is very important, as volunteer firefighters have strong allegiance to the multiple independent fire companies in the borough to which they devote their time.

I-99
The highway number that makes Roadgeeks cringe as it lies between I-79 and I-81. Plus, at present, it doesn't connect with any other interstates.

On the north end, there is about a mile of surface street before I-80.

On the south end, you need to go over surface streets to hit the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76).

Went through Asheville once when my brother and I decided to try the "back way" into Bristol, staying at a motel west of Asheville instead of near Sevierville or Greeneville.

But, the Kevin Ward incident did not take place during a NASCAR-sanctioned event. The event was a sprint car (not Sprint Cup) race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park. A quick look around does not reveal any NASCAR sanctioned events at the track. But, this is not conclusive. Stewart was the NASCAR connection. If it had been a "John Doe" that ran over Kevin Ward, most of us would have never heard of the incident.

Even so, you are right with your intent that this is something that all motorsports sanctioning bodies and track owners need to address.

It makes a good highlight reel, but don't risk you life. If on the track, settle it with your vehicles. Or, wait until after the race and "have a talk" with the offending driver.

Hometown of NASCAR's Waltrip brothers. (broadcaster and 3 time champion Darrel, Sprint Cup team owner and 2 time Daytona 500 winner Michael)

Also, hometown to these the Green brothers (David, Jeff and Mark, NASCAR) and the now disgraced Jeremy Mayfield.

I'll accept using the future I-69 route in TN to get to Dyersburg.

We'll leave down on the out of place US 412.

(US 412 should be a branch off of US 12 which is hundreds of miles to the north)

You got that right...but Great Bend does have an interesting fact associated with it...

In November 1959, Perry Smith and Richard Hickock stopped for dinner in Great Bend on their 400-mile journey to Holcomb, Kansas, where they murdered the Clutter family. Author Truman Capote wrote In Cold Blood about the murder. In 1967, part of the movie, by the same name, was filmed in Great Bend.

We will leave this quiet Midwestern town on...

Well, Dodge City has a lot to offer, it seems...We might be able to be a part of Dodge City Days, the city's annual community festival. Lasting ten days, it includes the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo, a parade, a beauty pageant, music concerts, a golf tournament, and many arts and craft shows.

Once done with that, we will move on to..

Wonder what interesting things we could find if we dug into the VA records in Lenexa. I'm sure someone is paid a lot of money to keep people out of those records. Moving on...to Dodge City

Maybe we will run into Marshal Dillon.

Interesting fact about Lenexa...

Lenexa is the home of a Records Center managed by the National Archives and Records Administration. The facility stores federal records from agencies in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska including Department of Veterans Affairs and the Internal Revenue Service. The facility is also known informally as "The Caves" and is known to store items from the trauma room at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where John F. Kennedy was pronounced dead following his assassination.
