Here's an interesting game. I will start with a highway and the next person will name a city that the highway runs through. The following person will then name a highway that runs through that city. Then after that, another person will name another city that the highway runs through. Etcetera...

I'll do the first 3 to start off.

Just for mister8tch, will leave Ohio, wayyyyy outtttt.

North Platte, NE

Home of Buffalo Bill's Scouts Rest Ranch Museum.

It is also the home of the Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center which rises 8 stories above Union Pacific's 2,850-acre Bailey Yard the world's largest train yard.

Let's visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH!

I hadn't paid much attention to the time we spend in any one state, mister8tch.

But, a previous Ohio tourist marketing slogan was, "The Heart of It All"!

Before leaving Paducah, let's have some excellent BBQ at:
Backwoods Bar-B-Que (click for Google map)
5172 Hinkleville Rd
Paducah, KY 42001

Go west on US 60 from I-24 exit 4. It is past the Wal-Mart and right before you get to the entrance for Lowes.

Sadly, I've only ever eaten there two or three times. But, I will the next time I'm in Paducah!

Well, since we're already on it, let's just stay on:
US 60

The park is right along US 60's very short run in IL. US 60 crosses the Ohio River on the last bridge before it joins the Mississippi River, hangs a left by the park and almost immediately crosses the Mississippi.

Tucumcari was also the place where the Southern Pacific and Rock Island railroads exchanged freight. The actual change of ownership was at Vaughn, NM. The Union Pacific owns all of the track now, so Tucumcari, is just another town along the way.

As we leave Tucumcari in the rear view mirror.

Let's head to Memphis, TN.

We can visit Graceland. Then, head downtown and watch the Peabody Ducks then take in some barbecue and listen to some blues.

If we're still there on Friday, we can watch the Grizzlies play the Denver Nuggets.

When heading north or south on I-two bits, we spend the night at the Elks
Lodge in

Las Vegas, NM.

When I tell people we stayed in Las Vegas, they always think of the other one and wonder how we could drive so far in one day.

For those too young to know the meaning of two-bits, that's what we used to call a quarter (25 cents). In Colorado Springs, that's the name many of us call I-25 (two syllables instead of three).

Well, without looking at a map, I've driven US-6 several times, but have crossed it at least 100 times as I passed through
Denver, CO
driving from home in Colorado Springs to my daughters place in Longmont. My gosh, she's turning 60 later this year. When I was a kid, I was looking forward to being 71 so I could see the year 2000 come in. When does it happen?
