Here's an interesting game. I will start with a highway and the next person will name a city that the highway runs through. The following person will then name a highway that runs through that city. Then after that, another person will name another city that the highway runs through. Etcetera...

I'll do the first 3 to start off.

I think mister8tch had a typo as US 222 runs through Willow Street.

Head north on US 222 to it's end at I-78/PA 309 near

Allentown, PA

It then becomes PA 222 and we take a stop at
Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom!

OK, I'll get this going again...

We stop by in Strasburg:
The Strasburg Railroad
The Red Caboose Inn
National Toy Train Museum
Choo Choo Barn
Railroad Museum of PA

and continue on PA 741 to:

Willow Street, PA (link to Google maps)

I actually lived on Avondale Ave in Richmond for many years...but onward on PA 41 to the little town of...

Gap PA

We can visit the Gap Town Clock, built in 1892, which is a Lancaster County Historic Preservation Trust Site. According to the Gap Clock Tower Association, "The clock's face, long telling the time to passing multitudes, overlooks, at the gap, William Penns' entrance into Conestoga, now Lancaster County, in 1701."

Avondale is actually really close to Longwood Gardens, which my parents used to take me to all the time as kid.

Avondale, PA (US 1 currently passes outside the burrow limits, but before the bypass was built, it went through town).

Turn off your A/C and hold your nose as you go through town as this is prime mushroom growing country. (According to a 1992 NY Times article, half the mushrooms in the US were grown there at the time.) And, as you know, mushrooms are grown in manure.

This began as a childhood memory as this was on one of the routes that we would take to my grandparents in New Castle, DE.

Not really that much, just like doing some research...

So, while in Portsmouth, let's visit Prescott Park where, if we are lucky, we can take in a musical performance, as they run many of those over the summer, then get on one of my favorite highways...

Breezewood, PA

One, if not the only remaining place where you have to use surface highways to stay on an interstate (I-70) due to PennDOT/Penna Turnpike infighting, federal laws, and local self interest.

Taking Paris, KY as the starting point.

Turn onto US 27.

BTW I didn't know there was a Paris, PA. I looked it up on Google and saw why. It has a post office but is not incorporated.

The home of country music star Billy Ray Cyrus is Flatwoods, KY, but he went to high school in

Russell, KY

I officiated a playoff football game at Russell High School a few years back. A referee buddy of mine told me that he went to Russell High School with Billy Ray and that is how I found out where he went to school.

Let's head for the "redneck riviera" or the Gulf Coast.

Bay Minette, AL

AL 59

Gulf Shores, AL

(A rare multi-post to make sure we got there!)

Well, we can only cross the river to...

Decatur AL

and, lucky us, we can stay for the 4th and the The Spirit of America Festival, one of the largest free Fourth of July celebrations in the Southern United States. The major highlights of the festival are the presentation of the Audie Murphy Patriotism Award, the presentation of the Barrett C. Shelton Award, the Miss Point Mallard pageant and also the presentation of one of North Alabama’s largest aerial fireworks displays. Bring your picnic baskets....

I'll take that, though you only have to enter the opposite of the previous poster. If they post a city, than a route and vice-versa.

Anyway, we'll visit the Parthenon replica and Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis steam locomotive #576 in Centennial Park and then hop on:
