AN SYSTEM - the Army-Navy Nomenclature system that begins with "AN" followed by three letters, then up to three numbers. It is the Army and Navy's method of designating electronic equipment by type of installation, equipment type, equipment purpose, and model number.
Example: AN-SPS-10 designates a surface search radar
The first letter "S" represents a "surface ship" type of installation
The second letter "P" represents a "radar" equipment type
The third letter "S" represents a "detecting" or "search" purpose
The numbers represent model number 10

UNIT IDENTIFICATION CODE or UIC - is a six character sequence, composed of numbers and letters, that is unique to every Department of Defense military unit. One of it's main functions is when equipment or supplies are ordered or assigned, they get delivered to the correct unit.

QUICKTRANS - shortened version of Quick Transportation. When the military needs to ship supplies quickly and can't do it using military cargo aircraft for some reason, they contract out with civilian commercial shipping companies and airlines to perform this service.

MANEUVERING BOARD - paper with polar coordinates that was used by naval personnel to manually plot contact data to help determine the relative movement of, and calculate the true course and speed of, surface ships at sea. It also was the best way for determining which ship has the right of way according to the "nautical rules of the road". I believe today they use computer terminals and programs.
