Okay, who referred to Darwin's theory as "survival of the twitest" -- and the general reason why.

Being familiar with the make up of Japanese made it a lot easier.

Yakamura.

Maybe is was Yabadabado. Oh, wait, that's Fred Flintstone's nickname.

There really is a Imperial Hotel, built in 1880's and designed by Yuzuru Watanabe. It has had problems and annexes have been added through the years. Frank Lloyd Wright designed a remodel in the 40's.

I was raised in Pasadena; I knew her well.

The innkeeper in the Bible didn't have a name, either. Well, one that was mentioned.

Some Japanese guy ran the Imperial Hotel.

Don't give up, Coop. We had fun with it. And I remember the episode you're talking about where they sent her flowers. Wasn't that the episode where Klinger got his leave by pretending he was the lady the general sent a car for? The flowers were daisies. I remember that for sure.

And, Squigy, I do not recall at the moment the answer to your question.

I think I confused a couple episodes. There was one where Hawkeye sent her a proposal and signed it Frank, but as I now recall, that was a different situation. I do believe in this episode, They got Frank to stay by the false gold, and then he got Margaret to stay.

I quit. No more asking questions.

WTH.......

Hawkeye used the Gold to get Frank to stay but I don't know what they did to get Margaret to stay.... so here's where I say where's the answer?

I've decided not to go, sir.
Frank, if you think you're gonna sleep here tonight, you're crazy.
I mean my transfer.
I want to stay! For cryin' out loud, Frank! I went to a lot of trouble to accommodate you.
Well, tear them up! Tear up my orders! I don't want to go! - What about Pierce and Mclntyre? - Great guys.
Fun-loving.
- A little high-spir- What? - Frank.
You've been pushing your stethoscope too far into your ears.
I think it scratched your brain.
Well, think whatever you like, but I don't want to leave here.
- There it is! - Where? It's right under your foot.
Is this your final decision, Frank? Absolutely and irrevocably, yes.
I never want to leave here.
I'm yours forever.
I've got to tell you somethin', Frank.
I've gone to sleep with happier thoughts.
But, Frank, I'm all packed.
What do you mean we're not leaving? The colonel has rescinded my orders.
You'll just have to unpack.
I've said good-bye to all the nurses.
They even gave me a farewell present.
They must have spent at least two dollars.
Well, Margaret, I can't leave now.
Something's come up.
Who is she, Frank? Who is who? You're seeing another woman.
Are you crazy? I'm a happily married man.
Frank, I don't understand any of this.
- Oh, don't cry, Margaret.
- Ow! Or go ahead, and I'll dry your tears with a gold handkerchief.
- What? - Gold, Margaret.
There's a fortune in gold out there.
I've seen it! Mclntyre and Pierce have a whole bag of it! Wait a minute.
I smell a rat.
No, two rats.
Two 14-karat rats.
Oh, no.
No, no, no, no.
Let me prove it to you.
Come on.
Morning, Maj.
Burns, Maj.
Houlihan.
The secret's out.
Come on! This way.
You see? [ Giggling ] You see? [ Man Over P.
A.
] Attention.
Attention, all personnel.
Tonight's double feature is Greed, and The Major Was a Miner, starring Maj.
Frank "There Goes My Transfer" Burns.
-You did some good work in there, Frank.
-You really did.
Hmph! - We're sorry, Frank.
- We really are.
Well, sometimes a joke can get way beyond an apology.
- Frank, they're trying to make amends.
- [ Groans ] We'll never try to make you look foolish again, Frank.
Scout's honor.
Well, okay.
I told you he was a sweetheart.
Oh! What are you doing? Stop that! - Pierce, let him go! - Major, don't.
You let him go! You mean this isn't a nurse? How dare you!

Wait a minute. My question was about how each was convinced to stay, each was a different ploy. Squigy was correct about it being the fake gold episode, but exactly what was the method used to get each to stay.

Unless you guys/gals just want to skip and move on.

Thanks for the answer, Prince. Are we turning this into M*A*S*H Jeopardy? Do I need to make up a question? (Note -- if this were in person, the voice would be the funny sarcastic one that friends understand.)

From the Major Fred C. Dobbs episode, I think we all know they got Frank to agree to stay out of sheer greed. That's an easy foil for Frank. Did Margaret stay because she thought Frank would be rich enough to finally afford to divorce his wife? Or was it because she saw she really made a difference to her nurses? Or just that she thought the place would fall apart without her velvet glove? All are reasons she decided to stay in one episode or another. What's the answer you had in mind, Coop? We're stumped.

episode Major Fred C. Dobbs

Fred Dobbs was the treasure-hungry character played by Humphrey Bogart in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948).

Each one had to have a different ploy. Don't have the ep name or number.

Since its been 5 days, Squigy is correct.

Speaking of leaving, there was an episode where both Margaret and Frank had put in for a transfer. How did the swamp rats get each one to decide to stay? Each was different. No quotes required!

Okay, when Margaret was insisting on a transfer, Henry was trying to get her to rethink her position. This was as she was preparing or getting ready to prepare her final report. She thought it over. What did she decide?

Hmm... looks like to me I only got it 1/4 right but I'll take it. :) Will look for a question when I get home tonight. Tried to set the DVR to record some MASH episodes recently. None on anywhere on channels I get. Ended up recording a few Andy Griffiths so I've got something to watch when there's nothing on. Hope to be able to record some MASH eps soon!
