I don't like the idea at all. For a driver's license or state identification card (at least here in CA), you have to have proof of who you are.

Yes, it saves the hassle of standing in lines and the process is easy. New tags come in the mail in just a few short days.

Interesting enough, yes, one should have to have their Eye test every 4 years or whatever your local is.
My point is. one person said, to save fuel, but, what about buying beer for that damn football game at the most expensive place?

You have to know where to go at what time to avoid the rush. like taking a day of Vacation.

If it saves time NOT standing in line and away from other things, why not?

Yes, I think on line renewal of driver licenses is a great idea, because people like me do not like going into driver license office and waiting. You can just do everything on line and be done with it.

No! In my state we renew every 4 years and must get photo taken. But we can renew at satellite offices like AAA insurance. There is a never a line.

You need to show up in person to prove your identity, and from what I see of bad driving now, wish we had to take another drivers exam! There are people that have not been tested since they were 16 years old now in their 90's that need updated glasses prescriptions, reminders on traffic rules, State law changes, and many other safety issues Also proof of insurance needs to be shown on the spot, not just typed in over the internet.

Here in Washington, we have the option to renew online or in person. I do mine online. As for the photo, they reuse the picture from the last renewal. On the license itself, we have a large picture and a smaller picture, one on the left side and the other on the right side. License is mailed directly to you. Very safe to renew online. Sure beats standing in line at the DMV for hours. We can also order tabs online.
