Never, except after 9/11 I thought it prudent to fill my tank because of the possibility of war, it was really unknown what was happening, and the media stated that some stations had raised their prices. I did have to go a few miles to find a station that had gas.

It usually doesn't, for example the tornados that ripped through Central Oklahoma recently didn't affect my travel, except for the power company trucks replacing downed power poles. I had no need to go through the actual disaster area.
Years ago the flooding in SE Kansas did not affect our destination either--there were ways around the flooded rivers.

Does the "disaster" we call our current federal, and state administrations count? Prices, taxes, and my cost of living have gone up significantly and that has affected my travel plans to even travel to work and to get groceries.

Unless you count Obama coming to Santa Monica to beg for money; I skipped driving on the West Side on Friday, thereby also avoiding the mess left by the Santa Monica College Shooter.

I am lucky. We have never had a disaster and tropical storms are nasty to ride through, but we are diehards. However, last year, we were forearmed of a tornado. At first, we didn't believe in the warning. When the news said 15 more minutes Tito get to our town, we all panicked. I drove to the nearest town to take cover in a basement. The tornado did come in Springfield, Ma. But luckily stayed put!

We only had travel delays due to rainstorm going from Florida to Georgia and before that due to snowstorm, but not from a declared disaster.

Part of the answer would be what constitutes a disaster. I wanted to travel about 80 miles a little over a month ago, but was kept home by 15 inches of snow. Certainly not traveling weather.

In Calif never. 15 or so years ago I had to travel to Wyoming & Nebraska where My Sisters house was in Wyoming but her mail box was in Nebraska. Driving from Colorado 2 different times about a year apart. I was traveling with my Dad on the freeway and he said "don't those clouds look a little funny? do you think its a Tornado?" No way Pop. Then it got very dark, lightning everywhere, rain, wind and golf ball hail, I couldn't see the road the rental car was struggling to stay on the road. I skidded to a stop on side of the road, just missed getting hit by the big trucks flying buy. We waited a long time on the side of the road until the roadway was cleared and safe to travel. We didn't have a clue. Hey we are California Natives we know Earthquakes, and never been further east than Reno . That night my Dad heard on the news at our hotel that Yes Dorothy we where smack dab in the middle of it. A year later repeated my same route driving but by myself this time. While I was driving to meet my Sister I could see parallel to the road all this debris floating above the trees in the distance, as soon as I reached town the Tornado siren sounded, I never heard one before & it was déjà vu. I thank my lucky stars because later I found out that one touched down just across the road from my hotel and damaged several mobile homes and uprooted lots of trees at the golf course near by.

Prior to the tornados in Moore, Oklahoma, I had ideas of going there this summer. I lived in Norman and Moore at one time and "Okies" are the greatest and strongest people. I miss seeing numerous folks there...but the tornados have kept me away at this time.

9/11. We went to Hawaii shortly after 9/11.
More security and luggage inspection , more thorough for everyone. Hotels on Hawaiian islands only had 1 restaurant open at a time. This because fewer travelers because of the attack in NYC.

A tornado felled a bunch of trees across the roads and I was isolated for 2 days.

I previously said more than 3 years ago, but it's been less than a year
since we had something called a "super derecho" that caused a disaster
declaration here. It means a long, black, super powerful line of thunderstorms or something like that. We also had tornados. We were trying to leave for an out-of-town graduation party and the lights went out and we couldn't see to finish packing and we couldn't bear the heat without air conditioning. It also made it hard to leave town because traffic everywhere
was disrupted by non-working traffic lights. We had to take our food along to eat along the way to rescue it, and finish packing and gift-wrapping in the car too. I think we also stored some of our food at some midpoint where we could stay over and use a refrigerator.

Here's a partial quote:
"Stockman, Dan. Journal - Gazette [Ft. Wayne, Ind] 20 Sep 2012: C.1.

... On June 29, a rare, powerful storm called a super derecho
... The storm ripped down hundreds
... The cost of the storms to the city was already"

I'm sorry, it seems I've been though so many disasters it's hard to remember which one came last but that was the most recent.
