"looks low" and "looks fine" are useless on newer tires. The tire pressure can be significantly low and you won't notice it until it's dangerously low. You might look into buying Tire Pressure Caps that indicate Red/Yellow/Green warning of pressure loss. While you should continue to check your tires regularly... It's probably far more accurate then the "look" test. On my Winters early in the season I saw just 1 tire where the Pressure Cap was "in the Red" the others were all Green (OK)... still don't know why that tire lost pressure unexpectedly but it's behaved itself since. The Caps do provide a nice quick "visual" check before I get in and drive away. Just keep in mind that they aren't extremely sensitive and "green" could be a significant range. Not to mention mechanical issues where they could fail and go unnoticed. So personally I'd recommend using a Higher Pressure cap (for example I keep my PSI at 32... so a cap calibrated for 36 or higher could more accurately show "yellow" or "red" below 32 then a 32 cap.) My fresh All-Season tires included a fill up on Nitrogen. While there is debate about it's effectiveness compared to plain air... one claim is that it'll maintain a more consistent temp and PSI. I'm hopeful that will be the case and I won't see or need to "top off" as often.
