Yes, they slow traffic effectively. There are 5 speed bumps on our street even the whole street is about 1/3 mile long.

Speed bumps cause trouble and are dangerous is some cases. There is no replacement for active law enforcement.

I think speed bumps are appropriate in some place. If everybody drove sensibly, we would not need speed bumps anywhere.

I still think the mobile radar guided mini-rocket launchers that would take out tires would be more useful to intimidate fast traffic.

Ok in parking lots, shopping centers, private roads, unintended short cut streets, some residential school zones and streets where people don't have enough control over their children to keep them out of the street.

Of course speed bumps should be used. If you damage your vehicle going over them, it's a very good chance you are going too fast anyway.

Yes, they slow traffic effectively, Yes, but they sometimes appear in unneeded places,Yes, they work, although they can damage vehicles - I say saving a life is worth all of these inconveniences. I lost an animal and many on my street have and had many close calls because people drive through my residential neighborhood with a speed limit of 30 at over 60 particularly in the afternoons. I am so fearful to get my own mail, I drive up to the mailbox as I come home.
I wish they had them here or just blocked the street since it is used as a pass through to the drug neighborhood close by but the residents don't want them! Personally, I view those that oppose this as short-sighted, as I think it would raise the value of our property and cut down on crime.

Yeah I think speed bums definitely slows traffic - you have to slow down or stop as they totter across an intersection.

Maybe if it somewhere there is a lot of foot traffic or kids around. I am not fond of them though. If I am going to fly, I'm going to fly over a speed bump if it is there. They suck when you have to pee. :-)

← Yes, but they sometimes appear in unneeded places.
We just got back from two weeks in Cabo San Lucas. The speed bumps down there and all over Mexico are fun. They show up in unexpected and unmarked places. They are much taller than what I'm used to in the states. Hit them at anything faster than 5 MPH and you go flying. Once going through Ensenada I was literally airborne. Never saw it and was going about 35 MPH.
