All I see now is cash prices. Credit prices (actual pump price) is not shown. How about we just get rid of the cash price feature? Did someone ask for this and if so, why?

Rondo 'Again, if they turn off the cash price, then the station owners will only post the cash price in what you believe to be the credit price. You will be fooled when you stop thinking that is the credit price"

I think that the issue is not turning OFF the cash price, but being able to filter so you only see the credit price (user choice of filter).

The problem with that is that there may be dual stations with good prices that are low and even with the up charge for credit might be better than a credit price elsewhere - BUT, if the station is not posting all prices at the curb, the station is likely to have "stale" credit prices as probably more prices are posted from the curb than at the pump and if the credit price is not at the curb, it won't be posted as frequently.

The issue I have is that the save searches are now truncated and all the "cash/Dual Priced stations" are pushing the stations that are maybe 1 cent higher off my list. THOSE stations are the cheaper ones for me when I factor in a 5 PERCENT cash back with my PF or SM credit cards.

Again, they made things worse than just throwing up a buyer beware durable flag while they address the matching of grades to the MSL first.

This suggestion has been added to the Suggestion Tracking LIst as a new topic on an existing subject.

Scrap: I hear what you are saying, but "How about we just get rid of the cash price feature?" seemed not to leave much room for interpretation. But, fair enough, let's read between (and in and amongst) the lines and say that what he was really asking is, "Did someone ask for cash to be shown in preference to credit?" So what he is really suggesting, when taking into account the topic's title is, "Provide a way to allow credit prices to be viewed by default in the price lists vs. cash prices." This could be done by a user-selectable preference to set the default.*

FYI, cash prices per se are currently not intended to shown by default; the cheapest prices are (which is a fine point).

----
*In that case, what should be done if there was no credit price reported at a dual-priced station, skip that station, or display the cash price?

CK - I think he is complaining about the fact that if you perform a search, what is returned is the cash price at dual priced stations. He would prefer to see the credit prices.

How is it that you only see cash prices? There are credit prices from the apps and now from the full site. Although there remain a few bugs, it's there (at least in my area).

As far as deleting cash, my response would be the same as today in this topic.

For those of us who don't carry much cash, and who pay our credit card bills in full every month, and who get 3% back on gas purchases, we are not too interested in the cash pricing. It would be great to be able to either turn off the cash price or at least set up our personalized searches to exclude those prices...

Where are credit prices not shown? They show in the iPhone app if you tap the station name, and they show in your list of favorite stations.

Cupboy - a lot of folks prefer to pay with cash and see a cash discount as a way to save money. The faqs originally were to post cash price, but since so many folks pay with credit, it was changed to members to post credit prices. But, since many areas do not have dual priced stations and those that do have dual priced stations do not require the posting at curb side of both prices, it became apparent that the standard to be posted should be the cash price. This made sense since more prices are posted from the big sign than at the pump (not everyone needs to fill their tank (car or own "tank" from the CS).

So, when dual priced stations started increasing and the differential hit some all time highs in a few areas (I heard reports of as much as $1), there became a clamoring for a means of handling dual pricing. Add in the increased false pricing for grades not offered (which some think are related to the APP and the APP Awards), members started making suggestions.

Unfortunately, rather than starting with just a "buyer beware" flag for dual priced stations and working on the tying of fuel grades to the Master Station List, they chose to roll out an aggressive attempt to address the full cash/credit issue. They, unfortunately chose to do this piecemeal starting with the APPS (and not all app platforms at the same time and not backward compatible with various APP versions still in use by some members). This rollout created some mismapping of prices between the apps and the website. Then the rolled out the changes to the website.

The cash/credit issue will never be able to be fully addressed to everyone's satisfaction unless ALL stations are required to post ALL grades and both cash / credit prices at the big boards at the curb (and maybe not even then). Since many folks post from the big board, credit prices will in most dual areas (there are some where they are mandated/or local tradition have the higher price posted) the credit prices will in most areas tend to be stale compared to cash prices.

Then, there is how to sort...and how to display on the big map, or on the various searches and price lists on the site and apps. The new changes on the website have made the complexity of what they attempted to do very obvious by how the changes affected different members with different needs. It seems that everyone (cash, credit, don't care - just cheapest) was negatively affected by some of the changes.

Personally, I think they should have done the tying of prices to the MSL and adding a durable flag across ALL platforms at the same time and let the dust settle before adding the dual priced fields. Especially with their limited programming and testing staff.

They also shortened what comes back on the saved searches which made mine worthless.
