Not holding my breath as it seems that there are no GBOs that are interacting with the membership in the SGBI or TBTU forums...and I can't remember if I have posted this as a suggestion or just commented on it in other there threads...

If a STICKIE is not locked (or if a locked stickie is updated by GBO) the last post date/time should update, not just the number of posts.

Scrap: " I rarely bother to look at the sticky topics because they always look like they are out of date. "

Exactly. It makes no sense. I suspect they originally designed the stickies to be static and locked and never paid attention to the fact that the date of last post doesn't update when they started updating their own stickies or allowing replies. But, I don't really know why - just that it should be changed.

TxJeans is right on the money about CK. He has been called out for making up problems/issues where there are none. And his STL is a mess. There are closed topics there as well as useless suggestions.

I would take what ever CK posts with a grain of salt and then walk away.

Back to the original topic, I like this idea. I rarely bother to look at the sticky topics because they always look like they are out of date.

TxJeans, CampKohler admitted that the issue you point to is an obvious one. CK tried to head off what ended up happening with the self deprecating parenthetical statement, "he said without the slightest particle of energy to invest in finding it himself". >>>>

1) CK has spent hours chasing made up problems (even called out by the mods for withholding information causing a disruptive discussion) - And, if it was so obvious there was no need to ask for examples.

2) CK throws anything and everything at his STL and when others ask why he puts something totally off the wall and agreed upon by the routine posters as not a valid suggestion on the list, then why not this one? There are sufficient details in the OP.

CK was being CK trying to force humor/cutesy remarks to every one of his posts. His humor would be much funnier in lower doses. I used to enjoy some of his humor until it just became old and stale (along with a few inappropriate ones along the way). Just like eating your favorite food for every meal that food loses some of its specialness over time.

It is not necessarily a BUG but a deficiency of code. Thus a suggestion is appropriate. But then, the PTB have never indicated that they look at the STL, or for that matter, lately even the SGBI or TBTU forums very much.

I doubt their requirements for coding even discussed the stickies. Possibly because they originally intended all stickies by them to be locked.

By unauthorized, I meant by TPTB at Gas Buddy. I hope that helps with your understanding.

Can we calm down a bit and treat each other with some respect?

As for the STL being unauthorized, LOL! Of course it's authorized by whatever host it's stored on! Perhaps you mean unofficial? There's a big difference between those two words.

Finally, as a card carrying member of the hoi polloi, I appreciate the effort that goes into maintaining the STL.

If you really expect CK to understand anything, you are sorely mistaken TxJeans. I don't think anyone uses his unauthorized STL for anything! It's a huge mess!

There was no need to point out specifics. They were right in front of your nose.

Get over yourself.

Relax. I was just being lazy, hoping you would point out specific instances so that could look at them, not to put this in the STL* (this appears to be a request for a fix for improper system behavior vs. an improvement).

I examined all the stickies in the Master=1 categories and I see what you mean about the date not updating. However, even though there are a handful of locked topics with two msgs—implying that, unless by sheer timing coincidence, the reply must be authored by GBO—there are no second msgs displayed in those topics, which in itself appears to be another misbehavior. Possibly both behaviors are related to the code that makes a topic sticky in the first place, although I don't know why they would have to do it that way.

----
*BTW, the STL was not created for the use of the PTB, but for the convenience of the hoi polloi.

Seriously CK????

My suggestion is clearer than the bulk of ones you presume from some posting and put on your list and the examples are in plain view without any goose chase with made up scenarios or cropped screen shots.

I don't give a hoot if you add it to your STL, because there is no evidence that it is used by the PTB any more than them just reading this forum.

Do you have any examples to illustrate this (he said without the slightest particle of energy to invest in finding it himself)?

Totally agree TxJeans. That way everyone would know when it was updated last.
