Every member can be ignored. All ignored members go on the same list. The only way to unignore members is to do so on an individual basis.

So my suggestion is this:

Create a button/icon to "unignore all" AND be able to revert back in the same manner.

I know.... WHY?

When one of your favorite topics has a new post. When you view it, nothing new is there. The new post must be from someone on your ignored list. It would be nice to see who posted what. Especially if someone is talking about you...

Perhaps if this cannot be implemented across the entire forum, then what about implementing just on your favorite topics?

Sooooo do we just wait around and see what happens? Do I need to find a magic lamp to rub so a genie (moderator) appears? Although it would be tough to only ask for 3 GB wishes....

But everything old eventually becomes new again! The day may come when they decide to improve the site.

I like the idea for another reason. Because only 4 pages of posts are visible, sometimes I'll want to see the thread's history. By ignoring folks who've posted a lot, it's possible to recover a lot of the thread. Eventually you have to unignore and then reignore one at a time to see all the posts. By the end, I've had 25 or more ignored. A mass unignore button would avoid having to do that for each one.

I can see how mobile app users would really benefit.

You are wasting your time suggesting an improvement because you are very new to the site and believe that TPTB read this forum and care. That was the case many years ago. This forum is a vestige of of that era.

Occasionally, suggestion are adopted. It may not be all-inclusive,* but you can do a [Ctrl-F] search for "+_" in the STL.

Well if suggestions from volunteers are rarely implemented, why am I wasting my time suggesting an improvement? Why does this section of the forum exist?

I'm not attacking you, or anyone else, but so far not one person has disliked the idea. If the trend continues, then there is no reason why it shouldn't be implemented.

On a side note, who decides what is important? The moderators? Clearly their job is not important...

Yes it would be easier. However, since suggestions from the volunteers are rarely implemented, and this one doesn't seem particularly important, I suggest you get used to the workaround.

Since I don't use the option, I don't care but if I did, the show/hide button would be my choice.

Interesting, but wouldn't a show/hide button be easier for everyone? Especially for the mobile users like me....

The information regarding who you ignored is stored on a cookie on your computer. If you want to see the entire thread, you can look at it on a site you haven't logged into. For example, if you had an ignored member taking part in this thread and you had never logged into the oklahoma site before, you could simply remove the "city" in the following link to see the thread with ignored members.

That's entirely different than the earlier post and makes sense.

Gas_Buddy - perhaps if I say it a different way, it may sound better.

Instead of using the terms ignore/unignore, I think what may work better is a "show/hide" ignored members...

First, I think an "unignore all" makes sense, even though I think that most people would look at an ignore list subjectively and individually, likely keeping some of the "ignored" on the list. Still, it's an good suggestion.

As for "AND be able to revert back in the same manner", I don't think that's as good a suggestion nor as workable. I can't see why, if you wanted to bring back all the ignored people into the fold (that is, unignore them), why you'd want to put a large list of people back on the ignore list; I think you'd want to put them on back on the ignore list more subjectively than "in bulk". Second, by unignoring everyone at one time (your button to "unignore all"), you no longer have a list to revert back to.

So, yes to the first suggestion; no to the second.

In my opinion.

Just log out and back in.

That said, yesterday a thread/topic showed it had been updated and logging out didn't work on that topic.

This suggestion has been added to the Suggestion Tracking List as a new subject.

Also it would be handy because we don't have configuration change "Are you sure?" safety net and a most ignores are due to accidental activation.
