Well the day is almost upon us where we will be adding cash/credit to the website. We tried to minimize the impact of this change as much as possible.
So here are some of the changes that we are going to be implementing with cash/credit.
• The big change is that we will no longer be allowing postings for stations that are not matched to the Master Station List.
o You will no longer have to manually enter in station addresses on the price input form. Instead you will be able to choose an address from the suggestion list. This will help improve the accuracy of the data that we all are using. You will have to choose an address from the suggestion list that pops up after you enter the area and the station. After you choose the station, area, and address if the station offers cash/credit then the cash credit text boxes will appear for you to enter the prices.
o The other change that goes along with this is that favorite stations that are "not matched" to the Master Station List will no longer appear in your Favorite Stations List. I strongly suggest that you go through your lists and match all the stations that you want to report prices for.
o The stations in your Favorite Stations List will also have extra boxes for cash/credit if that station offers that feature in the Master Station List. We chose not to allow any more non-matched entries for a number of reasons, but the main one is that it should reduce any duplicate postings that are being seen on the site.
o Only having matched stations will also allow us to have better validation procedures implemented and help to make the gas prices even more accurate.
• When you click on a price in the list to update it you will be able to enter all the fuel types for that station at once.
• When reporting a price for a cash/credit station, you can go to the price input form and enter the prices, then choose the station, area, and address. The cash/credit boxes will populate after you choose the address and all the prices you just put in the text boxes will go into the cash boxes by default, then you can enter credit prices.
• One other thing we are working on to help improve reporting prices is the ability to turn off specific fuel grades at individual stations. No more displaying diesel at stations that don’t sell diesel! We aren’t quite there yet, but it’s coming.
Please know that the maps have not yet been updated for cash/credit. We are working on it and hope to have it updated soon as well we just didn't want it to hold up the website update any longer.
