All of the other Points Leaders categories, all time, 30-day, half year, etc., all go up to the top 10,000. The only exception is the consecutive days, which for some reason only goes to 4,000.

It would be nice to see consecutive days adjusted to match the others, and give people a better chance of making the list. As of now, it's almost a year of no misses just to get to the very bottom.

This suggestion has been added to the Suggestion Tracking List as a new topic on an existing subject.

I'm not sure why there are any length limits on any of these lists.

I agree with expanding the rankings. I'm currently at 212 days and will have to post every day for two more months to achieve the list.

"I have over 2,750,000 gas buddy points and yet am not on the consecutive days list and would like to be."

You point total has nothing to do with you consecutive days. You could have 1,500 consecutive days and as little at 31,000 points.

As of this post, TimEum, you have 24 consecutive days. I don't think you will show up on the list if it is expanded to 50,000.

It is a great suggestion to expand consecutive days to 10,000.

For a gas buddy who has just started putting prices in, it is like a "thank you" to see their name(moniker) listed --- anywhere.

Currently it takes over 250 consecutive days before a buddy is listed.

Expanding the list to 10,000 should reduce that to less than 50 days.

Life happens -- with family trips - business conferences -- unexpected emergencies that take you away from everyday things -- like inputing gas buddy prices.

I have over 2,750,000 gas buddy points and yet am not on the consecutive days list and would like to be.

gaspricepasser,

This is a thoughtful consideration that would surely do no harm in the scheme of things. Certainly, many members like yourself enjoy tracking these kind of stats. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you’ll ever see your suggestion implemented.

Given all of the other issues, wants and needs expressed by members here, your request would probably be lost in the din receiving very limited consideration if it weren’t for the respondents, all of whom have amassed lengthy terms of consecutive day participation, but still chose to answer here feigning a disinterest in the accumulation of consecutive days.

Maybe your point would be better taken were they to take a day off and restart their consecutive day count if it is so trivial and unimportant?

Yawn -- who cares about the consecutive days. As far as I am concerned, they are meaningless to me. And,more so ever since I found out that GBO gives "mulligans" so freely --- including to a "member" that thought just logging in was sufficient and when the membership explained that you need point earning activity the member was rude and obnoxious and close to stepping over the TOS, but GBO nicely gave her back her consecutive days without even blinking an eye at her rudeness and name calling.

Sigh.

Making a list where your rank can change every hour is important?

Being the devil's advocate, you wrote "give people a better chance of making the list". Is making the list really that important?

The bottom of the list has people with approximately 250 consecutive days of points earning activities, approximately 8 months of consecutive points earning days. The top of the list contains people with over 10 years of consecutive days of points earnings (and it's unlikely that many of those will be dropping from the list). Do you really think there's value in listing the people at the 10,000th most consecutive days of points earning?

Maybe the real way to do it, as mobile app posting has taken away the "glow" and value of actually having to do something in order to get points for consecutive days, is to make the list even shorter, perhaps just the top 100 or top 250 (and even that is more than 6 years of continual posting).

Personally I no longer see the value of the consecutive days postings list, especially as mobile device posting has taken away any real effort necessary to keep a streak going, and especially when 500 people have never taken a day way from posting on a website for at least the past 5 years. There's little challenge. Said in a different vein, it seems the only one not posting consecutively are the gas card winners who won with 100, 120, or 1,00 or 1,200 points (depending on when they won the card).

Sorry, but while I understand the suggestion, I just don't see value in it. But that's just me.
