Most stations near interstates do NOT show the exit number in Station ID on popup box shown on heat map. It would be nice to have the exit number show up like they do on google maps..

bet i am not the only one with this wish. :)

Well there is the mobile app and mapping on mobile devices would allow most travellers with those devices to easily locate stations in their immediate vicinity.

jrvsa -<<<"The moderators and owners of this site are strangely unwilling to make the site useful to travelers.">>>> I agree.

I also find the tool for Trip Cost Calculator rather useless. Without a smartphone I would like to be able to look for best fueling stops along the way. Fooling around with the amount of fuel on my tank doesn't help.

The moderators and owners of this site are strangely unwilling to make the site useful to travelers. No one passing thru an area will be able to find a station located at the corner of South St and Elm Ave without consulting a detailed map; however, most travelers would easily locate a station at South St (US-35) and Elm Ave (I-81, Exit 242). Why this extra (useful) info terrifies the Mods so much I have no idea. It has nothing to do with locating a station on a map. GB members locate each station on the map by entering its lat/lon when making or editing an entry in the MSL. The station will appear on the map based on the lat/lon even if the address listing is faulty or missing. Street addresses help to define a location for local people while route and exit numbers primarily help travelers.

This suggestion has been added to the Suggestion Tracking List as a new subject.

I seem to remember a moderator telling us that using route or exit numbers in the address field caused problems with the software, so I don't think they agreed to it.

If the moderators would allow exit numbers in the address lines this would not be needed. The moderators have told us that using exit numbers messes up some GPS locators but not having this info readily visible (and not in comments since they are reliable) is not a good move. We, as members. set the pins in the MSL so I don't think the moderators reason for not including exit numbers in the address lines is the real reason.

You'd bet right. It would be useful and more safe in terms of navigation, to have the exit number displayed.

We used to put the exit numbers ant route numbers in the address field in the MSL. Some moderators did not like that and started removing the exit numbers. A number of us complained and there was an agreement to allow the exit numbers and route numbers in the address field. The moderators reneged on that deal and have been steadily removing exit numbers and route numbers either themselves or through the use of sock puppets.
