Could we add the ability to have Electric Charging Station Locations, most run on gas and electric, it would be nice to be able to give them the location of both.. you would not want to loose customer base just because they purchased a duel powered vehicle.

Or they would have to have two programs to find both, does electric only.

Just an idea, and I am sure not that hard to add.

A lot of states are trying to figure out how to tax electric vehicles to pay for roads. You're right, they use the roads just like everyone else, they should pay their fair share.

Well, this IS GasPrices.Com....... Last time I looked, Electricity wasn't a Gas..... Personally, just so everyone knows where I'm coming from, I think electric vehicles should be banned from Public Highways until a "Fuel Tax" system is implemented that would make the cost of operating an electric vehicle the same as a Gas/Diesel vehicle..... Conventional vehicles should not be taxed to give a free ride to others.....

This suggestion has been added to the Suggestion Tracking List as a new topic on an existing subject.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Lots of people have had similar thoughts and suggestions about the ability to report other fuels including but not limited to propane, fuel oil, kerosene, marine and racing fuels, as well as, the aforementioned non-ethanol blended gasoline to name a few.

Come to think of it, GasBuddy seems more like a site of exclusive fuels than "an an exclusive club of fueled vehicles", but perhaps that is what you meant. If so, I would agree to a certain extent.

If you read the GasBuddy blog for any length of time, you'll find that it doesn't seem to be exclusive of virtually any topic of discussion; the majority of which has little, if anything, to do with the limited types of gas prices that are reported here. In fact, only a small fraction of the blog and news articles submitted by moderators and members have anything at all to do with regular, midgrade, premium and diesel fuels.

It shouldn't be surprising then that members often try to include some of the seemingly superfluous subject matter in their posts to the Suggest a GasBuddy Improvement forum.

Gas stations do not usually carry charging stations, so they are in off the wall locations.

Hotels, City parking lots, some Mall parking lots, but that is okay, I just suggested it, take it or leave it.. no loss. Most electric cars also take gas, so oh well.

I don't own an electric car, I just thought if I did that sure would make life convenient.. yes they do have their own sites I have a link in my original message. I had no idea gasbuddy was an exclusive club of fueled vehicles.

"Electric car owners might need an EVBuddy site?"

Actually there already are several websites listing charging stations. For example, the Department of Energy's "Alternative Fuels Data Center" has a listing of "Electric Vehicle Charging Station Locations" at Department of Energy.. There is Plug Share and Car Stations.

All that needs to be done is to look for such websites and contribute to those listings, just as you've contributed gas stations and gas prices to this website. I'm not sure that Gas Buddy needs to be an all-inclusive "fuel" listing. Making Gas Buddy all-inclusive could easily make it so comprehensive that it becomes less easy to use and less useful.

There seems to be no movement towards offering an MSL entry identifying the nearly 8000 stations that offer non-ethanol fuel; ostensibly because the future of this product is uncertain.

It probably follows then that even fewer stations currently offering electric charging facilities aren't going to get much attention here either. Electric car owners might need an EVBuddy site?

Knowledge of electric charging stations would probably appeal to only a small number of members, and I (for one) doubt that Gas Buddy would lose any significant member base due to lack of such a feature.

As for "Could we add the ability to have...", where would you put that identification, other than in the Master Station List?

That said, you (and others) could add a comment in when posting gas prices, to the effect that "Station has electrical charging facilities". Additionally, you could update the Master Station List notes (as scoutmaster suggested) to indicate that the station has electric charging capabilities, but, perhaps better, why not start a discussion topic in your local Washington discussion category, with a clearly identifiable topic name, and provide a comprehensive listing of where electric charging facilities are.

You could provide an example (in the original post) of how members should provide such information, perhaps having a simple one-line identifier, with each subsequent post copying the previous post and the new post adding to the list. That way a full list can be readily available at all times.

Add it to the station notes on the MSL.
