On the awards screen, the iron man data is confusing.
I have posted every day for over 400 days. It says I reached 100 days in April. Ok. But since then it keeps resetting to 0% of the way to level 4.
It seems that if I post in the morning on one day and wait until evening the next day. It reports that I did not post, because over 24 hours had lapsed, even though I posted both days.
Is this a bug in the program, or do I need to post in every 24 hour period, with no specific starting time.
It should be recorded as continuous posting if I actually post every DAY,
not just in every 24 hour period!

I had this same problem untill I tried Posting prior to 06:00 am EST. So far it seems to work! There will be problems with so many people logging and using the system. I am sure there are one or two hackers gumming up things!

Try telling management the problem using the cell phone ap. I have had good result that way.

I don't really pay any attention to them anymore have reached at least 3 on most levels and seem to be stuck there. I did make it to level 5 for Sunday post but that is only one. After I posted on my ipad versus iphone I lost my iron man level. Even though I have 418 consecutive days it has me starting over.

Should this topic to be considered a new idea or is it a request for a bug fix? I think the latter. Perhaps a moderator will say they are looking into it.

Is anyone keeping track of bug fixes?

When I first signed up I was getting quite few "award notifications" since they were easy to earn as a beginner. As time passed the frequency of these notifications diminished and I have stopped monitoring them completely.

borsht asks: "Can someone explain the purpose of the Mobile Ap Awards?"

In a nutshell, the mobile app award agenda is a clever marketing strategy designed to stimulate smart phone gas price gaming behavior that includes posting many prices from many different locations at all times of day.

This sort of fervent activity can, and very probably does, generate constant revenue via the banner ads displayed on pages within the app. According to the moderators here, the GasBuddy app has been very successful and its award program is here to stay.

Given that there are certain downsides and frustrations reported by members who are caught up in the gaming atmosphere; and, even though the app in its current form is decidedly responsible for instigating inaccurate price reporting, the site owners must feel that the financial benefit justifies the means. Reasonable suggestions for modifications to the app award system that would tend to ameliorate gas price accuracy are either being ignored, or procrastinated in favor of avoiding additional programming overhead costs while enjoying the profitable status quo.

After all, management is responsible for turning a profit; this is how they make their living.

borsht <<"Why is the emphasis placed on using the Mobile, by causing one to lose all his ap credit if he posts on His PC.

The important thing is to accurately post gas prices not to get gas prizes.

The Mobile App was to attract new members that are hooked to their phones.

The awards and consecutive days are worthless in my opinion but are ostensibly to attract members posting prices.

Forget about the "awards" and don't fret about the "consecutive days" and just post prices as you can to help your fellow members.

I try to post everyday from the mobile AP becaue obviously it will be the most accurate and efficient post and I appreciate that fact; but today for instance, I wanted to post some prices in San Jose. The AP said it couldn't load and that I had to reinstall it.
I rebooted my phone and later on posted different stations at another location. A real annoyance. I'm not sure where the rule book is located on this web site.
2) I don't understand why the mobile AP and PC ap can't be seamless.

So, borsht, did you post every day of those 400 days using the mobile app? Did you make all those price reports from a list or map via GPS? In other words, can you say that you followed the rules as far as you know?

pilotmass:

"When you transition from one award level to the next, you bring your current status with you. But miss a day or post on a computer (ie No GPS tracking) and you "die" as it were"

No you don't. That is, no, you don't die.

First, they're "app awards", not awards for posting by another method.
Second, yes, if you miss a day and the award requires consecutive day or multiple posts a day and you don't post or don't post multiple times (depending on the award) you might have to start over, but that's not "dying". That's you, yourself, not posting according to the requirements of the award.

Are you suggesting that the awards criteria should be changed? Or are you suggesting that you should get credit for consecutive days awards even if you "miss a day"?

Sorry, but what's your suggestion? What do you want changed, improved, or added?

Correct - at first I think the awards were tied to Eastern Time but that got resolved relatively quickly.

And "day" is defined as 00.00 - 24.00 local time, right? (I figure that if it were using some specific time zone, then I would have heard the complaints by now.)

It is based on you reporting every day. A couple of things you may not be aware of are that you must be reporting using the app, have GPS enabled, and be within 10 miles of the station you are reporting.
