Here in Sacramento, the age limits for prices are either 24 hours (on weekdays) or 36 hours (on weekends). However there is no 36-hour menu item on the Map Gas Prices map Time Limit menu, so price lists and maps don't have parity.

Whatever the price age limits are at any site, those limits should be present on that site's MGP map Time Limit menu. I would guess not many sites have price age limits that are missing from the menu, so it probably wouldn't take much to clean this up.

The proposal is to make it *more* flexible, not less.

TX & Scrap: Please note I am NOT suggesting that the map price age limit be set equal to the list price age limit, but merely that the latter for all sites show up on the map's Time Limit menu. I just want to be able to set the map to whatever the list is— if the list is 24 hours, there should be a 24-hour selection on the map; if it is 36 hours, there should be a 36-hour selection on the map. Nothing in this suggestion requests that the Time Limit default be changed at all.

Where are you getting all this?

scrapheap said "Before I take a long trip, I will use the map to search gas prices along my route and make decisions on where I might get gas before I even leave. If the map is constantly changing the time limit, that will be problematic. "

I think this makes a lot of sense.

I for one do not want the MGP limit to match that of the particular sites. The options on the sites are far to limiting. The map is more flexible. I do not want that flexibility taken away. Additionally, the limits on the individual sites make no sense.

Before I take a long trip, I will use the map to search gas prices along my route and make decisions on where I might get gas before I even leave. If the map is constantly changing the time limit, that will be problematic.

This suggestion deals only with the MGP map of the full site. (In order to apply to the Find Gas Prices Near Me map of the app, first there would need to be a Time Limit menu in that map, which there is none [at least on the iPhone, which is all I know about].)

CK, although it might be nice to have them match, the time limits are probably coded separately for the lists and the map and the map was coded with a global feature for the map with different architecture. Realize that any changes to pricing takes more effort now with the fact that it has to be applied across all platforms unlike changes to the forum, or simple layout changes to the website. As it is, each app acts differently.

However many different price age limits there are on all the sites in both countries, the MGP map's Time Limit menu should them all. You could call that global if you want.

MGP defaults to 48 hours reegardless of what site you are on. This is also the same time the apps use. The time for the individual sites is determined by how many price reports are made. Low volume sites have a longer expiration time than high volume sites. This time can range from 24 hours for high volume sites to at least 72 hours for low volume sites (perhaps all the way up to 96 hours).

I wonder if the MGP has a global setting and the price list a "site" limit.

Sounds like a reasonable request to me.

I don't know why the MGP map has data that is aged more than the price lists, and I won't give a preference for or against it. But as long as there is such aged data, I believe that the user should have a way to set the map to the same view as the lists, and that is what I am asking for.

Why not simplify the price viewing time and make all price history be deleted after 48 (or 24, or 72, or 96 hours for that matter) hours, with the understanding that "any price is better than no price" and members should be "smart enough" (poor choice of words) to pay attention to "time spotted" in making decisions about which stations to choose.

Note: All sites would have the same menu items regardless of a particular site's price age limits.
