Under each station in the MSL is an option for "Membership Only". But what does this really mean?

By simply reading the option under the MSL, I assumed it was for membership only location. i.e Sam's Club, Costco, etc.

However, when using the mobile app a question will sometimes appear asking something like, "Does this station offer membership only pricing?" By that question it seems like the option is referring to a membership discount. i.e. 3 cents off with membership card, etc.

So what is the consensus? Does "Membership Only" mean a members only station, or does it mean that the station offers membership discounts?

That's what I figured, but the question the mobile app asks is, "Does this station offer membership only pricing?"

The mobile app should simply ask, Is this station for members only?

If it said "Membership Pricing", you could parse it. If it says "Membership only", you can not parse it.

I can see the alternative way to parse it, but I think it's a stretch.

I agree with Scrapheap. The reference to "membership" refers to having to join an otherwise restricted shopping site, such as Costco, BJ's and/or Sam's, or a private facility such as "Fuel Man" stations (which are "cooperatives" and not open to the general public.

It does not refer to discount pricing such as might be obtained using a Shell credit card at Shell stations, or an association with a loyalty card (for example, spending $100 at Winn-Dixie and getting a per-gallon discount at select branded gas stations. Nor does it apply to pricing at military installations (in which the "membership" is being active duty, retired, and/or being an authorized family member).

In my opinion the question isn't confusing.

It is referring to membership only clubs like COSTCO, BJs and Sams Clubs.
