Perhaps then 99% of the posts wouldn't be so ignorant and/or lame.

I think you should have to take one before being able to post prices. With how badly some people post prices around here, makes me wonder if people can tell the difference between Reg and Mid grade.

This is a suggestion. Ya adding it to the totally unauthorized by Gas wiki, CampKohler?

Well, let's see if he returns to answer the community's questions. If he doesn't, then I think we have to adopt kwzh's take—he was just venting.

I think this was an expression of frustration, rather than a serious suggestion.

First, an overwhelming number of posts, ignorant and/or lame, as well as some of substance and/or intelligence, are in the Just For Fun discussion category, where they should be. Maybe not 99 percent, but about 75 percent of all message posts are there.

That said, how, exactly, before this is added to the Suggested Topic List, do you propose to conduct an IQ test, and how would giving any test determine that future posts won't be ignorant or lame.

But, just wondering, you've taken part in a relatively large number of discussion topics, and not all of those threads are filled with, for lack of a better word, intelligent responses. For example, in one thread with the topic name: "Do you carry a firearm?", the original post asked: "Assuming it's legal to do so (no self-incriminating please), do you carry in your vehicle? Have you done anything special to store your firearm? If so, what?"

One of the responses was: "Yes, I even shower with it. You never know when the urge to blow something away may strike."

I doubt that many here would consider that post much more than ignorant and/or lame (using your words), yet I see no call for that person to take, let alone "Pass an I.Q. Test before getting posting privileges." Maybe because the person that made that post considers that post to not be ignorant and/or lame." Do you think that the person that made that post should take (let alone pass) an IQ test? If so, did you think that when you made the post?

Seriously, not every post is intelligent, nor are most posts researched and/or detailed, and yes, many posts are, in fact ignorant and/or lame. And many, especially those calling for a boycott (for example) or explaining how a one day post years ago forced prices to drop by half a dollar a gallon the very next day, or forwarding the "letter from a Coca Cola executive..." are simply things that people want to believe (no matter how much the issues have been reliably or factually discredited or disproved). But just because you don't find all posts to your standard, perhaps from an academic or quality perspective, doesn't mean the members don't have a right to freely post their comments. Especially when they're posted where they should be posted, in the Just For discussion topic.

If you're asking if the more substantive discussion categories shouldn't be purged or have a higher standard for input, that's a different issue, but just passing an "I.Q. Test" isn't going to ensure that intelligent people, such as you and me, won't, on occasion, post something ignorant and/or lame.

Sorry, I don't think, and it's just my opinion, that this suggestion should or will be implemented, at least not without a little more explanation.

Interesting idea. And what sort of I.Q. test did you have in mind, FrankLee1?

When one demonstrates an air of arrogance and calls anyone who take a different position than ones self. Moron, Stupid, Idiot etc.
give them some time off from posting.
