I normally wouldnt even give sites like these a second specially when "misled" into registering for membership by something that says "earn a chance to win $250 worth of gas" them decide to click that link only to be told that you must register to become a member and when you do u learn OH BY THE WAY.... You NEED 1000 points in order to ENTER the drawing. So here I am doing whats necessary to earn points so that i may earn a chance to put my name in a hat for a chance to win something other than the prize you were actually interested enough in to win. Well my friends im in too deep now. By my count i should have 400 points by the end of this post but im betting that some fine print will deny me of 1 or 2 hundred points ive earned as directed which would mean id have to earn 7-9 hundred points instead of just 600 for that slim to non chance of winning a prize that will be different than the prize that got me motivated to sign up in the first place. Which brings me to suggest to whomever runs this show, that since only 1 will win the raffle.... Why not reward a person who did take the time to register and sign up a chance to participate in the drawing as a thank you gesture and increase future support and endorsement from that new member........ Or not.... Whatevers clever....

Zerocoolem,

Only registered users can participate in the contest. This is outlined in the contest Terms and Conditions ("Entry in the contest requires the individual to be a registered GasBuddy Organization LLC. site member").

The contest Terms and Conditions is made accessible right on the Prize Give-Away info page.

"By my count i should have 400 points by the end of this post but im betting that some fine print will deny me of 1 or 2 hundred points ive earned as directed which would mean id have to earn 7-9 hundred points instead of just 600"

I cannot speak for where you're getting your math from.

You've only just registered (100 points), and each of your first five forum messages per day accumulates 20 points each. You've only ever posted 2 forum messages which means you should only have a total of 140 points.

This seems to check out.

Click here for information on more ways you can earn points and point maximums. This same link is found on the ticket entry page under the header that says 'Want More Points?' - "For information on how to gain more points with GasBuddy, please click here."

Also, it's not like we try to hide the fact you need to exchange points for tickets in order to enter the contest draw.

No matter whether you're logged in to your username or or not, right by the 'Enter Draw' button on the Purchase Prize Give-Away Entries it says "Exchange 1000 points per entry".

You'll also notice in the contest Terms and Conditions page under the Entry section it also states "As requested by each site member one entry will be issued for each 1000 outstanding GasBuddy points balance. Multiple entries are allowed providing an adequate GasBuddy points balance. All entries become the sole property of GasBuddy Organization LLC. and none will be returned."

You still have yet to enter your free ticket entry.

On the Prize Entry page, fill out the requested contact info, and under Step 2 - Get Entries, choose the "1 Free Entry" option in the drop down menu, then select Get Tickets.

Please do not condemn GasBuddy, I can't say that we don't try to have as much of this pertinent information available on the site as we can, everything you needed to know before registering and entering the contest was there for your observation.-Don

First and foremost I love discussions/debating over anything and am extremely surprised by the response this far. So thanks to you all even the ASSumers aka haters. Its so easy to put in your 2 cents on anything or anyone but just because its that easy does not excuse ignorance or thoughtless input. Are people that broke nowadays that even pennies are being counterfeited? Ask urself if the 2 cents u put is even worth that. Or r u a counterfeit? ...... I will now read each post and ready my 2 cents. I dont have much money so i got to make every penny count.

Well, after two full days, Zerocoolem has 120 points and, while he may not have earned many points for a chance to put his name in a hat, he did start a topic.

Perhaps the moderators will consider closing this topic, which doesn't seem to be going anywhere. At least not going anywhere with the member who started the topic to say he was "misled" (his word) into registering for membership.

Zerocoolem, if I read what your comments correctly, you have no idea what the rules are but you decided to complain about them anyway.

Wow!

Didn't cost you anything to join, did it? I am also curious about the supposed 400 points you thought you were going to get?

You have 120 points, which includes the free 100 points for registering and the 20 points for posting the message. I'm curious where that 400 points was supposed to have come from -- what other actions did you take that "should have" earned points for you?

Also, how is it a "different" prize from what led you here? You quoted it as "a chance to win $250 worth of gas"; isn't that exactly what you're getting?

(I won't deny that the site is confusing and can be hard to navigate. If you have specific ideas for improving the information content, please suggest them; this is a task particularly suited to new members not yet locked into the mindset of the site.)

Unless things have changed with the recent update, click on home, scroll down and click on enter draw, scroll down and click on redeem 1 free ticket and click on enter draw. This should work until you earn 1000 points.
