When people take a picture of a gas station, tie the GPS location with the photo. Then all I have to do is click on the picture and the location would be placed on a map.

Take it one step further: Pictures of Rest Areas (with or without bathrooms) embedded with GPS coordinates. With small children, this could be a considerable convenience.

This one has me puzzled as to exactly what is being asked for and why.

First of all, if a GPS coordinate set is attached to a photo, it is the camera that is doing it. Some cameras can do this, but most can't, because it requires that a GPS receiver be present in the camera. Now iPhones have these, but I don't know if the coordinate set is embedded in the photo data. As it is, the location is attached to the photo, but not by GPS data.

When a photo is added to a station, the adding member is connecting the photo to the station's location by that act. If you are looking at a station photo, then you either have or are a click away from having the station located on a map. So you have the location at hand. The question is then what clicking the picture does for you if there is a map button nearby.

As far as rest areas go, currently only stations have locations in the Master Station List; there are no locations for rest areas to which to attach photos.

With the above in mind, perhaps you could revisit this with more detail so that we could see how you envision all this working.

Want "people" to do this to make it easier for you? What have YOU done for GB in the last 7 years and 333 days?

The pin set on the Master Station List for the station does this already.

I don't understand how this is useful. People who enter stations into the MSL are supposed to place a pin on a map where the station is located. That is enough to give you the stations location.

Who would take the pictures and keep them up to date? It is hard enough getting members to update gas prices let alone pictures.

Isn't the map view on the application enough to help you find the station?
