I just downloaded the iPhone app update and now am constantly told that my device can't connect to the internet. I am not having a problem connecting to the internet with any other app. I tried turning off and restarting the phone. Any other suggestions?

Deleting the app and re-downloading it worked! Thanks to everyone for the help.

I had the same problem yesterday. Updated and lost the "ability to connect to the internet" using GB. Closed the app (by holding the power button down for 5 seconds, then the home button while GB was open). So I did totally close the app. No go. Restarted phone. No go. Deleted and redownloaded and installed. Worked.

Today there is another update available. Version 1.19. Dated 4/11/13. Is this an update to the update?

Thanks.

For what it's worth, I've just updated the app on the iPhone 4S and when I tried to access the app I received a message that I needed to delete and then reinstall the app. Before doing that, I closed the app, re-opened it, and it works fine.

"Don, have been advised by folks @ Apple store, do not do this, will likely result in all stored data being lost."

Did the Apple Store explain what and how deleting one specific app would delete any stored data? Logically the stored Gas Buddy data would be removed, but re-logging onto Gas Buddy should simply bring back any data you have (i.e., the information that shows when you click on the "My Profile" link on the Gas Buddy app), such as your awards, your points today, overall rank, 30 day rank, consecutive days, and total points. Even if it didn't automatically re-appear (it did when I installed the app update), the moderators could reinstall it; it's not as if it were deleted from the Gas Buddy database.

But that's just based on my updating the iPhone app.

What stored data are you worried about losing?

DCS48,

Please try removing and re-installing the app. This should resolve the issue.

Had the same problem. Deleted and reinstalled. Lost my stored search locations, but otherwise that seems to have solved the problem.

Hi PaulaHart,

Our developers have been made aware of this issue and have been working on correcting the problem.

There was an update pushed without notification that should have worked the next time the app was fully closed and restarted, but the fix seems to work after the app has been completely removed and reinstalled (this removes temporary files on the device that are conflicting with the update).

When you have a moment, could you please close out of the application (exit app out of multi task menu) and try again? You may need to try removing the app and reinstalling through iTunes/App Store.

Thanks for your patience.
