Read the replies from the moderator named Don. That is the best information available.

MistrEd - The link is in the very first reply to this thread. Since the question was answered in the very first reply, maybe you can understand why people went off on tangents.

Scrapheap, thank you for posing the link to the other topic. Can you please post in this topic thread also, so that prorodeo2012 can find it. I don't have time to read all of that thread now, but will when I have more time and will respond there if I have any more questions. Thanks again!

MistrEd - Links have been provided both in this thread and the duplicate thread that you started to another duplicate thread where these questions have been answered. Why don't you click on the link and read that thread?

prerodeo, I couldn't agree more. The closest thing to a response was from Maxstar. Any company worth it's salt is always going to be trying new things, so I can understand that there are always problems when a new item is introduced. Especially in an electronic medium. We are not trying to be a problem here. If someone would just layout the the rules/guidelines on how things operate, most of this discussion would go away.

Your question, which has been asked many, many times before, was answered it the very first reply. Did you bother to click on the link that was provided?

It’s funny that you can post a simple question even a kindergartener could understand then you get people going off on tangents instead of just answering the question. What a waste of time and energy. I had a simple question and was curios for a real answer and I got a bunch of BS. I won’t be posting questions on this site with this kind of mentality anymore. I am somewhat new to the site and I see the people with large points are just grumpy people who can’t read a question and answer it or stay silent.

kwzh - There are too many distracted drivers - the point was we don't need to add to it with GB members posting while driving or stopped briefly at a light and not paying attention. Many have admitted to posting while driving and while behind the wheel when slowed or stopped for a light.
As Scrapheap said, if you are here for the AP awards, you are here for the wrong reason.

TXJeans, that's interesting -- I don't think I've ever seen anyone on the road that I would assume to be a GasBuddy price spotter.

If you are on this site for recognition then you are here for the wrong reason. The main purpose of this site is to help all consumers save money by being able to find the cheapest gas prices. Everything else is gravy.

MistrEd, the "Champion Authors" that find it "a stupid thing to bother with" have indeed been supporting a long time. Much longer than the list has been in place (only a few months). Those members have seen the impact on the site. The implementation of the "list" has resulted in an increase of inaccurate price updates. Another result has been a constant parade of complaints from members the feel they belong on the list and have been left off. Finally I feel that this list and the awards has diverted resources away from many other improvements that could benefit the site, all so members can get that anonymous warm and fuzzy.

@Rumpleseat - an island of SANITY. I agree totally. I am tired of coming up behind someone when the light is changing while they have their head buried in their "Smart" phone, or those weaving along as their head swivels like an owl trying to capture all grades at all 4 corners while driving in heavy traffic. Seen them all.

I agree that I am baffled by how the ranking works. I would like to see GB list some guidelines or criteria that they use to determine this. I have been reporting the same three stations for over a week now and only one time have I seen my name on the list and then I disappeared even though not one else appeared to have increased. I really find it puzzling when the last price reported most times was reported by myself. I would like to see the results available online, not just on our phone app.
Additionally, does someone who flies down the road reporting only the regular unleaded price get the same value for reporting verses someone that takes the time to pull in and report all available prices?
Maybe you "Champion Authors" that find it "a stupid thing to bother with" have been at it so long that you don't see a challenge to it, but for some of us junior members, maybe that is the only recognition that we are able to achieve, and it provides us with an extra incentive to keep at it.
Just my thoughts.

I don't know how this works either. I go back and forth between Reno, NV and South Lake Tahoe, CA. I always wonder how they gauge it. I run by the stations several times a day and input prices, but then am out of town for a few days.

Today I noticed the gap between me and another person is even larger. we where tied and now I am 11 days compared to 18 days. The more I post the more days are taken away from me. Wierd.
