Generally with Google Chrome, if you hold down CTRL and click on a link, it will open the link in a new tab, but keeps the focus on the same page you are on. On this site it does that one time; if you do it a second time, it opens the link in a new tab, but then shifts the focus over to that new page (as though CTRL+SHIFT was pressed when clicking on the link).

To show what I'm referring to, go to the Home page, hold down CTRL, click on a link for a news article, then (while still holding CTRL down) click on a link for a different news article).

I don't have this issue on other sites I visit; was wondering if anyone else had experienced this.

kwzh,
If you are referring to my last post, yes I am using Chrome and no I am not using ctrl+leftclick. But when I do use ctrl+leftclick, each news article opens in it's own tab.

scoutmaster, are you using the Chrome browser, and using Ctrl-Leftclick, in that last experiment? (That's what the OP specified for the setup, and also what I was using.)

When I left click on a news article it opens in a new tab. When I click on another news article it opens in the same new tab. I'm not seeing what you are saying is happening.

Actually you are correct; in my haste I was not looking closely at the articles, just the fact that the focus was shifting in the first place.

I saw it too. More specifically, it seemed to me that after I'd opened the first news link, and then clicked on the second one, the second one would open but the focus would shift to the *first* news item that I'd opened.

Right-clicking is how I'm getting around the issue; I wasn't sure if anyone else is having the same issue or perhaps one (or more) add-ons I have are contributing to this behavior

But again, I'm only having the issue on this site and am trying to go about this via process of elimination; having someone else chime in to say they see it too would save some time.

jMacs,

You do realize you can set up Chrome and any browser to handle tabbed browsing with a normal click? Also, if you right click on the link it give you numerous ways to have it open.
