This seems like a pretty basic feature, but it's either missing or not as prominent as it needs to be.

Let's say a user has a GasBuddy improvement idea, but they've got a good feeling it's been posted before. They want to search the forums to see previous discussion on that idea, but there's no search bar at all at the top of the subforum pages, and only an author search at the top of the main forum page. So, the user maybe goes back a few pages of posts to look for their idea, then shrugs and posts a new thread when they don't see it in the past month or so.

A search box right at the top of the "Browse Topics" pages is needed to cut down on duplicate posts and ensure discussion relevant to an issue isn't happening in too many places.

"since it doesn't *ad* revenue to the site..."

Funny slip because the site revenue comes from ads...

And yes the lack of a decent forum search has been brought up many times before... to no avail.

But your missing word was obvious (probably to almost every reader); his post was a correction of someone else's but containing an error. If you're going to correct someone else, especially with one short sentence, you might want to try not to make your own mistakes in the correction. You might want to try not to...

He only missed one measly letter. I missed an entire word.

Diverting from the original post, but

CampKohler, you wrote

I am sure that in the previous post "...it been implemented...." is a typo and should have read "...it hasn't been implmented...."

" implmented "
What does that mean?

Well, it could be made to bring extra revenue. The search results page could display a larger-than-normal ad. And every new page is an opportunity for more click-throughs.

I am sure that in the previous post "...it been implemented...." is a typo and should have read "...it hasn't been implmented...."

This suggestion has been made many times in the past. Since it been implemented by now, and since it doesn't ad revenue to the site, I doubt it ever will.

You can always use Control+F and type in your search. Unfortunately, you will need to do this on each page. You can also use this site. Neither is perfect.

I noticed you only have earned a little over a months worth of points while you have been a member for over four years! Why is that?
