That would be another useful metric, sure. I was just describing an existing metric that could be used without any changes to the system.

What about the number of users who had at least 1 ticket in the last drawing? For that matter, might a more useful metric be how many tickets were issued for each drawing? We already have the winners page. The numbers of tickets could be tacked on, though if that was a really large number it might not be a good idea in the eyes of the owners/mods.
Just a thought.

"Total users" is pretty meaningless, as I'm sure it would include a huge number of "members" who signed up and then quickly dropped out (or, as we've occasionally seen, they wanted to change home site or they forgot their password, and chose to abandon the original login instead of just asking the mods to address the issue). In fact, I'm not aware of any approved method for terminating membership, so the "total users" count can only go up.
For historical reasons, a member is considered "serious" upon reaching 35000 points, so some stats are reported relative to the number of 35000-and-up members. Also, one way to get an estimate of the number of "active" users is to look at how many respond to the weekly poll -- it won't count everybody, but it's probably proportionally correct over time.

All ya gotta do is go here! As of now, there is no indicator as to who is active (received points) and who isn't.
