It is extremely easy to accidentally hit the "Ignore" button when using the mobile version.

Yeah but there is nothing you can do about it CK. So reporting it to you is like reporting it to me! The best thing to do is to encourage members to report stuff to the moderators. They can actually do something!

I agree that there is no cure for fat finger disease so it makes sense to accommodate for it by moving the "Ignore User" or the "Reply to Post" button.

Because I heard that they had the experience and asked. No mystery.

Why would anyone report anything to CK?

At least two members have reported to me that they accidentally ignored members. One thought that it was because using the finger on his tablet might have hit two buttons at one time.

I should have said, I don't think it's necessary for ignore / abuse to be *directly* available on each message. Relocating them to a menu underneath the member name (which is already available on each message) retains the capability at the cost of one extra click level. This would be good enough for my own use case, but possibly too awkward if I were mining the news zone for fluff posts, for example.

I like that both (ignore and report abuse) are available on each message, especially the report abuse link. There are a lot of time you will want to report abuse of a specific post and the current location lets you do that very easily.

I thought about the top-hiding option, too, but as noted, it's too late to be useful in this situation.
Since ignoring users is (presumably!) a rare event, I don't think it's really necessary for the option to be presented on every single message. Likewise with Report Abuse. Maybe both of those features could be moved into a menu under the member name (which is already clickable anyway)?

Hmmmmm, how do you hide the OP? I don’t see any way to do that until after you have clicked “Post a Reply” and by then it is too late to be of any help. I still think it makes more sense to move the “Post a Reply” button than the “Ignore” button.

When you are posting a reply, you have the option of hiding the OP. I don't know if that helps.

Rather than moving the Ignore button, I would like to see the “Post a Reply” button moved. If it was centered in the blue bar, just below the OP, it would be far away from any other clickable link. It would also be much more convenient, especially when the OP is long winded. It is a nuisance to have to scroll back up past a long OP in order to post a reply.

I am glad to see that others, including the head honcho, think that this might be a good idea. I appreciate your positive feedback. Keep up the good fight.

Good easy idea to implement. I've accidentally ignored people in the past as well.

Sounds like a very good idea, and easy to do. I have accidentally ignored others myself. Easy to do especially when using a smart phone to access the site.
