More a combination - must meet a threshold. Your list is becoming unusable with too much unfiltered debris. But, I would say, a minimum threshold would be that it provides true value to the majority and main purpose of the boards -- finding cheaper prices. There is no need for separate awards on the APPS than the website. See Gas_Buddy's response.

Should an idea be evaluated on its own merits regardless of GB's workload, or should each idea be compared with all others that have gone before and ranked as to priority? If the latter, then each idea must stand up against not just one or two that might be on member's minds at the moment, but every last one of them.

Hey medic? Which would you rather see? Changes in the APP awards or improvement in the site to allow the users to better find and track prices of gas? I would rather see site improvement than waste time on lame APP awards.
Like, maybe having the cursor default into the text box when you post?

I'd like to see the award structure change too. In essence it's just a doubled Iron Man award broken into two 12-hour blocks for submissions.

This suggestion was added to the Suggestion Tracking List as a new subject.
As GB made no effort to publicize these awards or explain how they work, I think it is safe to say that only the Award Fairy knows about them (and she isn't talkin').

Because the only one that sees the commuter award (the app awards in general, for that matter) is the member him/herself, and because the commuter award is already in place, it wouldn't make any difference if the "award" was removed or not. Unless you're making it a point to say "Hey, this is the award I got...this is the award level I'm at", it's just as easy to not pay attention to the award if you don't want to.
I agree with the others; unless there's a reason to overhaul the entire app award system, no time needs to be spent on removing the app award.

I agree with Maxstar - in fact, I would do away with the app awards :-P

I don't think any time or effort should be wasted on changing the "awards". The resources should be directed to a long list of other improvements that could provide some real benefit to users of the site.
