GOD’S IDEA

It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. -Genesis 2:18

The family is God’s idea. In fact, it’s His primary idea. Civil government and the church also came from the mind of God; but long before He created those institutions, God thought of the family. In the very beginning, He looked at Adam and said, “It is not good for him to be alone.” He brought a woman to him and family life began.

Since the family is God’s idea, it operates best when it follows His patterns and operates under His lordship. Until Christ is the center of our homes, all our attempts to improve our families will end in frustration. Unless the Lord builds the home, we labor in vain in building it.

Even in the easiest of times and best of circumstances, it’s hard to build a Christian home; but any attempt apart from the lordship of Christ is doomed to failure. God loves you and wants to be the Lord of all your moments, days, attitudes, and habits. When He is Lord, it changes the atmospherics of the family. Problems may not disappear overnight; but when Christ dwells under your roof, He brings hope to the home and healing to the heart.

Oh, let me tell you something, friends. God has a good plan for building good homes. He tells us that if we put Him at the center of our home, that’s the first thing. -David Jeremiah

Today's high 22°, low 11°! Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Again! It looks like Sunday we will see the start of a slight warming trend to get us out of these icebox temperatures even though there will be some wintry mix this Sunday and Monday and warmer temps with rain by next Wednesday! I can hardly wait for warmer weather by the end of March and into April!

Oh, don't we just love winter? More snow still coming in March! That is what the forecast is for this Sunday, March 1st, 3 to 5 inches of snow! :(

Life is all about numbers! So much is happening, so much to look forward to!

Daylight Savings begins in 8 days and sunset is already after 6 pm! Fed Tax filing day, April 15 is only 46 days away, don't wait to the last day this year! At least we will have warmer temps! lol!

The Boston Marathon is Monday April 20, in 51 days!

3 more weeks of winter, according to Phil? :( Spring is just around the corner, 20 days away! I can hardly wait to see the Robins again! : ) But, still a few more cold days ahead with a little more snow yet to come in March here where we live! :( Hopefully, NOT!

Easter is only 36 days away, Sunday, April 5! We should be able to walk some on our R2Ts here by then, hopefully sooner!

Memorial Day is only 86 days away!

Have a nice Saturday and a nice weekend . . . I know I will! : ) Again, stay warm!

=======================================================================
Wholesale futures (RBOB) spiked to $1.73 from $1.61 Wednesday, where it is holding right now! The avg RBOB has been pushed up to $1.63 over the past 16 days! The RBOB may by next Wednesday reach $1.76, but hopefully it will back off to lower levels, but with oil refineries workers still on strike, and the strike appears to be growing, and reduced output at most of the refineries, the outlook is a continued increase in the RBOB for many weeks to come and we could even see some temporary spikes along the way! The trend for retail pump prices has been a steady upward movement in almost every area and it's been reported worst on the West Coast. With the a continuing surge in the RBOB, our retail prices here could reach $2.79 in less than 2 weeks, that's a spike of a 30 cents!

BIBLICAL BOASTING

For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. -2 Corinthians 10:12

You’ve seen the bumper sticker: “He who dies with the most toys wins.” Yes, it’s a cynical statement about our materialistic culture; but there’s another layer of insight there concerning competition. Down to one’s dying day, life is all about comparisons and competitions.

The apostle Paul wrote that it is not wise to engage in such activity. The subject came up in Corinth when false teachers and apostles boasted about their accomplishments (2 Corinthians 10). But Paul refused to be drawn into such fruitless debates. When people who are all on the same plane—dead in trespasses and sin, redeemed only by the grace of God—began to boast about their greatness, Paul chose to focus on two things: carrying out his apostolic mission and focusing on the greatness of Christ. Paul loved to boast—but only about Christ and never about himself (2 Corinthians 10:17-18).

If you are ever tempted to feel large or small based on comparisons with others, shift your focus to Christ and boast in Him.

Reverence and boasting cannot be found on the same platform. -A. W. Tozer
