Good morning Happy!

On top it looks like Santa is doing Barbie! LOL!

Coughing up junk does not sound good. You have a few days to stop. Good luck!

If your Christmas cards look something like this..............once again..................you just might be a redneck.

Snow, that is hilarious!!! Love it. Hope we have a Santa like that.

I also had the Flu shot in September. Thought it was just a heavy cold. People around up at the airport were coughing. Thought we were safe distance and careful not to touch railings without washing our hands. But no, got it anyway. My 3rd trip in a row came home sick. Saw on news about the Flu shots.

Glad EW is better.

Have a great week

Sorry to hear your under the weather. EW is doing much better now. They said a new flu is out that they did not get in the shots they just gave out. But they say any flu shot is better than none & it does reduce the symptoms if you do catch it, so you just might have a touch of the flu too. She said it was like a cold except she was very tired & weaker than a cold.

If Santa & his reindeer were in your neighborhood & looked anything like this......................once again......................you just might be a redneck.

Have a stupendous Saturday!

Snow, yeah, noticed that at first site.

If I had a car like that, yes, probably would decorate it with lights to show it off. But, don't think I am a redneck.

Still a bit under the weather with this hacking cold. Wife also came down with it.

Hope EW is better.

Good morning!

I &hearts Life!

Slowly getting better every day. Hanging in there.

Know Three Dog Night from back in the day. Too bad the concert was cancelled.

The latest update:
Friday was a big day for me. Dug the Dart out of the snow, warmed it up and cleared the windows. Fired up the Arien 28" snowthrower and cleaned up the driveway and walkway.

Went nice and slow to scrape as much snow and ice off the 200' (61 metre) drive and 50' (15 metre)walkway to the house. Used the half barrel of sand mixed w/lots of salt that the town dropped off the week before on one side of the driveway and several times on the way to the house.

Was out 3.5 hours cleaning the cars on snow removal detail, and sanding. Without a doubt the time spent was exhausting. A 3 hour nap was taken. Sleep is still erratic. Longest rest is 3 hours, once and a while 4 hours. Body needs all the sleep that can be had.

Woke up the next day, after several sleep sessions, achy w/a hip that hurt as much as it did the next day after the hip replacement surgery. That surgery was just 3 weeks ago yesterday. Am halfway thru the typical recovery cycle.

It takes 6 weeks just for bone to recover cutting through it, even if one is a healthy teen. Am about halfway through the return to a normal state of bone health. Strength and stamina will follow.

Took the Dart for my first drive on Saturday. Visited Mac's Market in Whitefield. Spent 15 minutes explaining to my meat mgr pal the hip replacement surgery and the events that happened w/the trans bus driver. He was amazed that my composure was contained.

Bought some store made 80% lean hot Italian sausage for $1.98. Always good to have in stock. Made sausage peppers, onions, and mushrooms over the w/e. Also bought cod for $6.99 and had a feast w/evoo lemon added and plenty of veggies.

Monday saw the young female PT phone to say she was to be 40 minutes late. Asked her if Tuesday would work for her as it would for me. Yes, it would for us both.

Jumped into the Dart and drove to the super WalMart on Woodsville NH. Really needed some items and wanted to go for a soothing long drive. Also been having my heart set on preparing homemade teriyaki sauce — no MSG.

Bought a veggie loaded cold cut combo, a foot long for just $4. It is the customer appreciation discount special along w/the meatball sub, $2 for a 6", $4 for a footlong until the end of the year.

Returned an opened Taster's Choice instant coffee 7 oz (198 grams) container. My hip replacement surgery story helped to pull this off.

Had a field day shopping and walking in the store w/o aid. Had a hand basket to stock and buy items my local WM does not stock. Treated myself to a premium red velvet cake slice 6" long and 2" wide. Think it was $1.75 ea. Know it was a slice of heaven.

Was fatigued big time on the drive home, nearly 80 miles r.t. Put the food away and took a long nap. Woke up to find the walking was overdone. It was painful to walk normally up my stairs. Was the next day also.

The PT gal visited early Tuesday morning. Gave me an illustrated list of 7 exercises to strengthen my hip. She added positive vibes telling me so much has been accomplished in just 3 short weeks. My last home PT w/ her.

Took my 5th rest period of the day when she left. Can be awake and an hour later be so drowsy that another sleep session is needed. Know sleep is great for healing. Also know things will be fabulous once the sleepy feeling passes.

Am 3 weeks into the 6 week representative example of recovery. The last home visit of the PT gal was Tuesday morning. She gave me moral support, hearty PT, and excellent enthusiasm during all of her visits.

Know these next three weeks will see great improvement with the pain/soreness leaving forever. Looking forward to walking up and down the road and improving my stamina.

Crossing of my legs and bending at a 90° angle are no no's at the present time. It is nice to recover at the beginning of winter and sure do look forward to returning back to hiking, ever so slowly, when my hip is fully healed.

Spring will be extra special for me. A new year and more importantly, new beginnings.

Civil twilight is 6:43 AM EST. Night is 4:41 PM.

Sunrise: 7:17 AM. Set: 4:07 PM.

Length of day: 8h 50m. Length of visible light: 9h 57m. Tomorrow will be 18s shorter.

Temperature is 31° (0.5°C), the high will be 37° (3°C). There is an 80% chance of rain.

Have a fabulous day!

Hi Snow, never had a tire that big, but I sent you a pitcher of a BIG one and said mine is bigger than yours, and you had a bigger tire.

Don't wear a tank top. Opps, looked at picture again, and now see what it is. That's funny.

Midnight, hope you are doing better

Have a good night

Hi Midnight, hope today was a feel better day. We are disappointed. We had ordered tickets for 3 Dog Night for tonight, and the hotel we are staying in had free Gordie Brown tickets for last night. We went to exchange coupon for 2 tickets and lady said he had cancelled the performance. So tonight, we went to dinner and then on to where 3 Dog Night was performing.
Walked up to the box office to get our tickets and lady said they had canceled 2 weeks ago. And I had my 3 Dog Night shirt on! Oh well, life goes on.
Have a restful night

Good morning Midnight
Last night, was reading your 12/12 post and had started answering it when hotel Internet stopped working and screen went to desktop. Was almost midnight (really was) so just shut comp down. The resort we stayed in had same problem, only 2 bars and movie kept hanging up.

I agree with your attitude on life! You miss everything when you are gone. On the van driver, give him a break, only on backing up into your drive, you know us older guys don't drive as well as we used to drive! On the walker, that is something else. This guy has a mental problem, if he did bust it! Shows he has a short fuse and beware of people like that.

I did not have any pain with my thumb but wrist is painful moving back and forth, mostly gone now. Thumb is still a bit stiff but getting better. Know your op was much more involed that mine and will take much longer in rehab than mine. Just hang in there!

Good morning!

I &hearts Life!

Would miss so much 6' under.

Soreness, little pain. Still sleeping 10-12 hours daily, at all crazy times, including the afternoons. Sleep sessions are 5x a day. Fatigue can set in quickly.

Have a home hospice care young nurse/PT that visits now twice a week, down from 3x a week. Monday will be her final visit. She had no problem backing in my driveway on Monday after a w/e of fresh fallen snow.

Will begin with the drama on Tuesday. Phoned for transportation from North Country CAP last week for an appointment on this day. Driver phoned to get directions to my place.

Specifically said to hug the forest side of the driveway. He telephoned 45 minutes early and said he was at the town church and would be heading up the mtn to my property in a second.

Put on a heavy shirt, winter jacket, and used the walker in 4" of snow to get to the driveway. Heard the 10-12 passenger bus backing up on the steady dogleg driveway.

It was slow going w/the walker in the 4" of snow. Place, step, lift, place, step, repeat. When the bus was seen it was off the driveway, now on the snowcovered lawn that has an downward slope.

Immediately the 70 y/o semi retired trans driver tried to save face by saying he got stuck because the driveway was not plowed of the merely 4" of snow.

Told him no, that is not what happened. A women backed in the day before w/o a problem. Told him he backed up 5' ((1.5 meters) off of the driveway and that got him stuck w/the right side of the rig on the sloped down lawn.

Left my walker to the side of the driveway and walked inside. Phoned the Tax Collector and related the event and asked if she would be kind enough to cell phone her hubby, the Road Agent (foreman), of the town's Hwy Dept.

Returned to the trans bus to tell the fellow that the town was arriving to haul him out. Saw freshly pealed orange skins thrown into the snow and a tree.

Told him he ate an orange and littered my property w/ the peals. He said he was feeding the birds. Told him no bird eats orange peals. What kind of upbringing did you have? Pick up the peels, all of it.

Noticed that since my walker was left there a mystical being from the forest mysteriously broke the cross bar of the walker used 3x. It retails for $145.

Knew the only one in ½ mile took out his anger/frustration on my new walker. Did not say one word.

The town 4 wheel drive sander arrived w/a chain to save the day. Knew the fellow well. He also is the Recycle Center attendant. Stepped back a few feet and nodded my head, meaning no to the town worker. The message was rec'd.

Town employee looked under the bus for a few seconds and said there is nothing to hook a chain to — "You'll have to call for a wrecker." Driver asked me if there was a wrecker in town.

"Nope, none in this town." Town employee dropped a 200 pound barrel of sand, no shovel, and drove away. Back into the house for me, leaving the driver to fend for himself, alone, w/great anxiety.

Moral:
One Good Turn Deserves Another — Aesop's Fables. One sows what they reap. "A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back." — Proverbs 29:11.

Phoned the surgeon and explained that the trans bus was stuck in the snow and my appointment needed to be cancelled. As the staples needed to be removed. and appointment was made late Wed afternoon.

Telephoned my neighbor to ask if he was able to drive me to the hospitable. He was. Also phoned the trans Co and explained that the driver left the driveway and made himself stuck.

Said the driver will swear this happened due to me not plowing just 4" (10 cm) of snow, already w/tire tracks from the nurse visit the day before w/o incident.

Told the dispatcher the driver left the driveway, that is why he was stuck. Did not mention the orange peel litter or the mysteriously broken walker that happened sitting out by itself in the driveway. Did not have to.

The following morning my neighbor to the north had to pick up his tractor starter fromaCoin St Johnsbury, VT. Close by was the distributer of the walker. Neighbor took the walker along w/him, stopped at the med supply Co and had them repair the walker, there and then, good as new.

Neighbor stopped back at 3 PM to take me in his pick up to the hospital for my two week follow up and have the 32 staples removed. Found out their were 40 sutures internally to close the muscle and skin.

Can not say the wire staple removal, just like what is used on paper at one's home, was painless. No pain meds were used. Yet the removal surely was far less than getting stung 32x.

A few drops of blood, some alcohol wiped it away, and the event was over. Dr visited me and asked how things were. Said stairs could be taken normally and soon a cartwheel could be done.

We talked extensively about hiking on an incline vs steps of a ladder. He said when my quads could take hours of two steps w/o fatigue, the mtns could be returned. Am not able to take a dbl step at this time.

Plan on building up as a beginner would for their first steady elevation gain. Have snowshoes ready for when the first 2' (.6 metres) or more of snow arrives.

The x-c skis wait for deep snow. My ice skates are ready, when it will be far below freezing each day.

Did stop in Shaw's after my Wed doc appointment to buy some needed goodies.

May clean the new Dart of snow and drive to Littleton to the stores. Will be my first time driving since the hospital trip 2.5 weeks ago on Nov 24.

Civil twilight is 6:40 AM EST. Night is 4:39 PM.

Sunrise: 7:13 AM. Set: 4:06 PM.

Length of day: 8h 53m. Length of visible light:9h 59m. Tomorrow will be 41s shorter.

Temperature is 29° (-2°C), the high will be 39° (4°C).

Have a delightful day!

Accidently posted,

Midnight, I like your attitude on life, and agree with you.

Don't try to go thru Air Port security with all those staples. Just got stopped with a belt buckle!
My thumb was doing well until last night, going down steps, there were vertical bars under the rail and thumb found one and bent it backwards! That won't happen again. This office computer is cutting off in 45 seconds. Time limit running out. Hope you keep healing

Snow, great picture, was there on this day in 2011 at the last commeration
put on by the PH survivers association. Their numbers have dropped that the association voted to disband! I have a picture similar to that one that was taken from a satellite that I copied off the PH web site. Let us never forget!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Would rather be in pain, than to not enjoy life on earth. Better days are coming.

Have my dressing changed over the 32 exterior staples on my hip incision with a visiting nurse every other day. Will ask how many interior stitches were sutured at the first follow at the surgeon's office on Tuesday morning.

The staples are to be removed at that time. Home health care nurse likes the skin color around the incision. Not a hint of infection is seen.

Thursday was my first time not attending Big Papa's Mkt in 3.5 years.

Glad to have two heads of leaf lettuce and lots of veggies still in stock from 2 weeks ago.

No big changes, slow and steady as she goes. Have daily PT for the hip/quads, and plenty of exercise walking up/down the stairs a dozen times every day.

Food intake is ravenous. A crock pot of pork chops w/a variety of veggies is my main meal of the day. Sammies (ham, BLT, tuna, etc) and specialties such as butterfly shrimp along w/rice noodles, broccoli, and varieties of Szechuan sauce make for in between merriment during meals.

Cereal w/lots of fresh fruit, pancakes w/tons of blueberries covered in real maple syrup, or Western style omelets loaded w/goodies makes an exciting brekky.

Still sleeping 5-6x every day. Have no set hours to sleep. 3-4 hours are my longest periods of rest. Am on demand feeding and sleep like a baby. All is well.

Thank you for your moral support, well wishes, and prayers. It is very much appreciated. God Bless!

Civil twilight is 6:35 AM EST. Night is 4:39 PM.

Sunrise: 7:08 AM. Set: 4:06 PM.

Length of day: 8h 57m. Length of visible light: 10h 03m. Tomorrow will be 1m 03s shorter.

The temp is 23° (-5°C). Temperatures falling to around -12° (-24°C) this afternoon.

Have a splendid day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Getting PT 3x a week. Using it 3x every day.

My neighbor to the north, a Jehovah Witness, returned my Dart to me on Wednesday. No charge for parking in the hospital lots.

He picked me up at 3:15 PM for an afternoon of shopping at the stores in Littleton on Wednesday. Was surprised to see so many stores crowded at dinnertime.

Bought some 0-40 SAE synthetic oil for under $27 for 5 quarts for the new Dart, and a dozen items at WM. My fave was stopping at Shaw's and getting assorted pork chops for $1.89 a lb. Did crock pot them yesterday w/a ton of veggies.

Yesterday was my first time not attending the 8 AM opening of Big Papa's Mkt in 3.5 years.

Have much produce from two weeks ago. Still fresher than what Shaw's sells as "fresh" and at less than half the price.

Still sleeping all hours of the day. Know that daily posting is just too much at this time.

Only have 4-6 weeks of recovery remaining to get on track. Should be close to spring by then.

Thank you for your moral support, well wishes, and prayers. It is very much appreciated. God Bless!

Civil twilight is 6:33 AM EST. Night is 4:39 PM.

Sunrise: 7:06 AM. Set: 4:06 PM.

Length of day: 8h 59m. Length of visible light: 10h 05m. Tomorrow will be 1m 11s shorter.

The temp is -1° (-18°C), w/the high to be 30° (-1°C).

Have a delightful day!

Good morning Happy!

I know I will be posting some of the "old" reruns over time, but a few of the "newer" buddies have never seen them.

Midnight ~ Good luck on your recovery! Just remember it will all be worth it in the long run!

If your scooter is powered by "natural gas" & looks like this................................you might be a redneck.

Have a titanic Thursday!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Emissions and bumper to bumper vehicular inspect a state law. $35 to $40 pass or fail. Rust thru fails. We a talking ball joints, tie rods ends, etc. No BS allowed.

Tried to post early here Monday early morn w/o success. Want to share the latest update.

The surgeon said last's Monday's hip replacement op went textbook perfect. The Depuy ceramic system, no glue needed, was used. This to build bone on the prosthesis as time goes on.

All the RNs, LPN's, and NP's were friendly, caring, and excellent. The expected bland food was superb and plentiful. Each menu selection was enough for two meals.

My fave was a white fish soup of upscale quality. No MSG, no salt, yet most delicious. Spoke daily to the young female dietician of the vast excess of sugar, salt, MSG, and other chemicals in today's processed food world.

Had turkey and a thick, tender, juicy ham, plus all the wonderful fixings for T-Day. Was cleared to leave at 1 PM on Friday. Last meal was a burger, no bun, lettuce and tomato. It was sumptuous.

The hip replacement op is just over $42,000 w/non ICU in this hotel at $533 a night. This includes general nursing, rehabilitation services, physical therapy, and three healthy meals. TV and local calls are free at Weeks Memorial Hospital. In Boston each of these cost far more than any patient should ever have to pay.

Have never slept so much since returning home via the town's ambulance. It is a struggle w/o pain meds and a stiff, sore hip. For every hour awake, an equal hour is needed to sleep. There is never an up for the day time.

Using a walker and crutches around the house. Standing/sitting is quite the chore. Have been told in a few weeks the stiffness/pain will leave. Looking forward to those coming days.

Am forbidden to drive by the surgeon. My 2013 Dart remains in the hospital parking lot. Have no strength to lift my right leg off the gas onto the brake. Still would need my left foot to work the clutch.

An ambulance drove me home locked on the gurney. A buddy of the driver was phoned to bring his plow up the mtn road and clear 12-14" (30-36 cm) of snow in my 200' driveway.

Then he and the driver hand shoveled the walkway to my house. At least 50' long. Was able to use my new walker to make it into the house. The paramedic and the other two escorted me into the house. Thanked them many times. No charge.

Lots of plasma drainage. Have a visiting nurse to change the hip incision bandage 3-4x a week. Blood plasma is the river in which the blood cells travel.

It carries not only the blood cells but also nutrients (sugars, amino acids, fats, salts, minerals, etc.), waste products (CO2, lactic acid, urea, etc.), antibodies, clotting proteins (called clotting factors), chemical messengers such as hormones, and proteins that help maintain the body's fluid balance.

Also have home PT 3x a week. Like that both are young women w/super hearts and a desire for their patients to get well asap. Want my name on the very top of that list.

Phoned my good neighbor to the north, who is a Jehovah's Witness. Asked him to refill my heart med which keeps the beats steady. Down to my last three tablets. He returned Monday night w/the Rx.

Also gave him my Dart's car keys on Tuesday, the car remained at the hospital parking lot since last Monday morning. Later in the afternoon he returned the car to my driveway

He will drive me to the Littleton stores today for lots of needed supplies and to mail my bills. "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2

Not strong enough to post daily. Never know when will be awake or sleeping. Sleep up to 12 hours daily. Will surely post when possible. Recovery could be in 4 weeks. It could be 2-4 weeks until it is possible to return behind the wheel. More info is found at WebMd.com.

Thank you for your visits, posts, IM's, wb notes, moral support, well wishes, and prayers. It is very much appreciated. God Bless!

Civil twilight is 6:31 AM EST. Night is 4:40 PM.

Sunrise: 7:04 AM. Set: 4:07 PM.

Length of day: 9h 02m. Length of visible light: 10h 08m. Tomorrow will be 1m 20s shorter.

The temp is 22° (-6°C) w/the high to be 40° (4°C). Light snow falls. 2-4" (5-10 cm) expected. 60% chance of ice pellets/sleet this afternoon.

Have a fabulous day!

We don't have any inspections here. We only an emissions test every 4 years but not up north here, just around the Milwaukee area.

If you have one of these hanging on your wall..........................you might be a redneck.

Good evening Snow

Hit some key and blew post away! So, here goes again.

The #9 is for the month inspection is due each year. Had been driving truck with expired sticker, had it inspected yesterday.
Granddaughter noticed it on way to airport last week to pick up daughter & SIL. Granddaughter is graduating from Hampton, VA police academy 12/16, so she is already observant.

Busted out laughing when I saw the 99mph on the speed machine and the kid screaming!

Have a good rest of the weekend

Hi Snow and Midnight, was a fair day, no rain/snow and frost on windshield. Took truck in for inspection with a number 9 on it. Just didn't know it had expired and was driving around almost daily! Was lucky I didn't get pulled over.

We are going to wife's son's for Turkey tomorrow and to my younger daughters Sunday.

Have a GR8 weekend.

Good evening Snow, If your swing looks like this, you may be a redneck

Had to do that fast or would time out. Borrowed it from It'saJeepthing.

Have a good trip, we are going to wife's son's Saturday and my daughter's Sunday. We are going south next week to visit relatives.

Be safe

Hi Snow, yep, just as backup. Was installed May, I think, and only needed it once and for about 2 hours. Glad I changed my mind and put it on the kitchen side of the house. Was going to put it near the gas meter, which is near our BR window! It comes on for 10 minutes every Saturday in test run. Portable generator had a hiccup and blew a lot of electrical appliances and videos.

Is that an AC in the fireplace????

Have a good evening and Wednesday
