Good morning!

I &hearts Life!

Never seen nor heard of Blue Bloods. Netflix streaming doesn't offer it.

Great you are happy w/the new cast and it is comfortable.

My heart and prayers goes out to the families of the Marysville, WA H.S. shootings. Two dead, four victims in critical condition. Never will understand what goes thru a 14 y/o pupil's (anyone's) mind to harm innocent students. This from his g/f breaking up w/him? How could this become the new norm? Am deeply saddened by yet another US school shooting. The list astounds.

Completed my rounds and posts early and enjoyed learning more of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Looks like this will be the perfect game to play in the winter and during snow storms.

Took the drive to Whitefield to visit my pal the meat cutter at his store. No super deals, even tho split chicken breasts were $1.69 a lb. An older woman slipped and feel on the waxed vinyl floor tiles. Thankfully she was not injured and got up on her own.

Returned to Lancaster and headed north of US Rt 3 to the Town of North Umberland. Have not been there in 3 years, even tho it is but 5 miles north of downtown Lancaster.

Ocean's Job Lot, a Rhode Island based discount store is located there in the old Ames building. Had hoped that sesame oil was stocked. No such luck. Saw a few food items that gathered my interest, yet nothing was purchased.

Back to Shaw's in Lancaster revealed that their Kikkoman reduced soy sauce had about 50% less sodium the Job Lot did. Noted it in my daily planer. Bought St Louis cut ribs at Shaw's for 2.88 a lb.

Stopped at the PO to discover my order of StarCraft Brood War arrived from Stratham, GE. It was truly in mint condition for $5.99, 1st class pstg inc. Bought gas in town. Gas is down 5¢ to $3.04 a gallon.

Returned home to thank the seller and praise him/her for fast service, an accurate description, a fair low price.

Removed the crockpot from the canister. In the porcelain oval bowl was red, yellow, and orange diced bell peppers, w/onions mushrooms, milled flaxseed, steelcut oatmeal w/2 eggs mixed in along w/a packet of onion soup mix, 1.5 lbs of ground pork sirloin roast and 6 sausages mixed together to form a 2.5" thick meat loaf. Golden pork gravy w/a half cup of water was poured in the sides and left to cook for 3 hours. Delish.

The ISS orbits early (6:51 PM) on the East Coast for those who can see it. See this and the other satellites in your area.

Civil twilight is 6:44 AM EDT. Night is 6:15 PM.

Sunrise: 7:14 AM. Set: 5:45 PM.

Length of day: 10h 31m. Length of visible light: 11h 31m. Tomorrow will be 2m 51s shorter.

The temp is 36° (2°C), the high will be 58° (14°C). A 1 day change into partly sunny skies.

Have a tremendous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Not that quick at 4 in the morn. Got it now. Thanks you for explaining. Read that knees are the most difficult to recover. Two at once mnust near insanity.

Fabulous to have a Halloween gathering of family. Best wishes with the cast off soon and the PT to work it back to normal.

Enjoyed the light rain on the drive to Littleton along the CT River Hwy. Saw the first wave of geese overhead, perhaps 60-70 of then honking up a storm. Not many leaves remain on the silver maples lining the CT River.

Bought at the mkt were Driscoll's raspberries $1.50 a pint, blackberries $1.67, cukes are up to 67¢ ea, a 1¼ lb head of leaf lettuce for $1.50, baby bella's were $2.25 for 10 oz, Limes 5/$1, lemons 5/$2, oranges 4/$2, Bartlett pears 98¢s a lb, and sweet potatoes just 54¢ a lb.

Here is the link to the latest prices from Big Papa's Market this week. In tax free Littleton, NH.

Shopped around for sesame oil in four stores. See that my small WM doesn't even carry it. Cheapest seen is $10.30 a qt at Shaws. Will use it to make my own oyster sauce, free of chemicals and MSG.

Also want to make pork, beef or chicken Lo Mein and beef and broccoli Chinese style w/oyster sauce. A common important ingredient to keep on hand. See most store do not stock it.

Returned home to enjoy some war games playing StarCraft II. StarCraft II continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg waging war upon each other.

These three distinct and powerful races clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft. Legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types will do battle across the galaxy, as each faction struggles for survival. It has my interest.

Getting the brunt of the storm tonight. Winds gusts up to 25 mph w/a chance of rain near 100 percent. Will be fast asleep and hope the power remains on for heat and to post in the morning. You will know the outcome if there are posts or none.

The ISS orbits early (6:03 PM) and up to twice tonight (7:40 EDT) for those who can see it. See it and the other satellites in your area.

Civil twilight is 6:43 AM EDT. Night is 6:16 PM.

Sunrise: 7:12 AM. Set: 5:47 PM.

Length of day: 10h 34m. Length of visible light: 11h 33m. Tomorrow will be 2m 52s shorter.

The temp is 42° (5°C), the high will be 47° (8°C) w/light rain. Heavy rain is on the way.

Have a delightful day!

I ♥ Life

Midnight, KK is KK7BA my friend from Wyoming.

Hope to see ISS Friday night from Busch Gardens while dodging the grimlins!

Forgot about ISS today, busy cleaning up the computer room for our Halloween family gathering. Wife has been decorating most of the day.

Really like my new cast, more room and comfortable, but will be glad to get it off in 3 weeks, then 6 weeks of therapy.

Have a good day tomorrow

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Friday evening is a good time to watch the ISS.

Both knees to be replaced? Who is KK?

More nice and gentle rain fell today. Like that it does stop at various times so the ground can absorb it. Going to be a long bleak week w/overcast and rain day and night, right thru Sunday.

Hope to have sunny days next week w/temps in the low 60's (17°C). Will wrap the base of my house about 4' up in plastic. Also a few feet of the lawn. This so when the snow arrives, it can be blown again the house and add further insulation. Helps the heating bill noticeably.

Bumped into my pal the auto mechanic and explained the situation w/the Neon. He wants to tow it and work on it in his shop. There is a dead spot on the 2 year old new starter.

Or some other issue, such as the neutral safety switch. Not sure a few hundred bucks, plus new tires, reg and Ins is worth it. Will mull it over. The Dart has under 5,300 miles.

Bought turbocharged Dart brand new July 11. 2013 after looking at cars for a entire year. Notebook in hand. Why rush in and err?

Took a drive to see my pal the meat mgr at his store in Whitefield. He has Tues and Wed off. Did speak to the meat cutter about some flank and shoulder cuts.

Bought a nice mix of ground beef and pork combo for $2.99 a lb. May make meatballs of meatloaf. No need to jump into a meal plan w/o pondering about for a few days.

Cooked the last 2 unfrozen wild caught cod purchased for $4.99. Steamed some carrots, then nuked the red, yellow bell peppers ,onions, and green beans made a few days ago.

Still have plenty of uncooked veggies left from last week such as Brussel Sprouts that need to be cooked. The rain is easy to inspire cooking.

Began to learn how to play the newly arrived Star Craft II game. Graphic athe orchestra music are superb. The step by step tutorial and beginners game play slowly allow one to learn the ins and outs of this fantastic game.

The ISS orbits by early tonight at 6:52 PM for those who do not have overcast. See it in your area.

Civil twilight is 6:41 AM EDT. Night is 6:18 PM.

Sunrise: 7:11AM. Set: 5:48 PM.

Length of day: 10h 37m. Length of visible light: 11h 36m. Tomorrow will be 2m 53s shorter.

The temp is 46° (8°C), the high will be 50° (10°C) w/rain on and off. Our Mt Washington (6,288' 1916 m) sees snow. So far the rain is a slow, steady rain.

Have a fantastic day!

Midnight, seeing the sat's is fun to watch. Overcast and rain today so could not see anything. Maybe tomorrow evening. On your link, ISS don't go over until Friday!

See that KK may have to have both knees replaced.

Have a good rest of the week

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Our area is in a major rain storm for 6 days. Hope your wife and you see the ISS. It is a happy feeling.

Somehow getting my posts and rounds done an hour earlier w/o an earlier wake up. Like to be done before first light and have plenty of day left.

Have not heard from the phone Co. They could have worked on the w/e problem of the modem resetting itself a number places. It is working well as this is typed.

Went out to buy gas that is $3.09 in Lancaster. Was amazed that $10 gave me 3.2 gallons and a half of a tank. Went into Shaws and looked for oyster sauce. They had only one kind that read oyster sauce flavored. The ingredients confirmed my suspicions.

Wanted Sesame oil, Asian toasted. Saw several on sale. Will compare the price(s) that WM charges when at that store. Want to make a Chinese marmalade and sauce w/o all the chemical found in the store bought ones.

Stopped at the P.O. picked up my mail and saw the yellow card that reads an item arrived that can not fit in the PO Box. It was the StarCraft II video game ordered from eBay on the 15th and mailed on the 16th.

It took only 4 days to arrive from Hermiston, OR. Gave the seller 4 stars across the board and added "Super Service" as comments. Have a new pc game to learn, play and get lost in.

This rain is a perfect way to remain indoors and get lost in the three different worlds of the Terrans, Protoss, and the Zerg. The graphics are so detailed and are truly magnificent.

The rain will swirl in a counter clockwise pattern due to our 6 day nor'easter w/rain. This is a macro-scale storm along the upper East Coast of the United States and Atlantic Canada; it gets its name from the direction the wind is coming. It feeds off the ocean and pounds inland.

The ISS orbits by twice tonight, early for those who can can it.

Civil twilight is 6:40 AM EDT. Night is 6:20 PM.

Sunrise: 7:10AM. Set: 5:50 PM.

Length of day: 10h 40m. Length of visible light: 11h 39m. Tomorrow will be 2m 53s shorter.

The temp is 43° (6°C), the high will be 49 (9°C) w/rain on and off. Mt Washington (6,288' 1916 m) sees snow. This is a slow, steady rain.

Have a fabulous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Missing your usual fun.

Our low was 34° (1°C) yesterday and was higher than many places in southern New England. It was not warmer on the summit of 6,288' (1,916 m) Mt Washington. The manned Observatory saw 10°F (-12°C) for the low.

Finished my rounds and posts early this morning and saw 4 TV series on Netflix. After the last one a banner appeared and asked me to check my billing card which became outdated.

Bought three bolts at HD 2 m/a. My bank sent me a new card and cc number, in case the account was compromised. Changed to the new number and instantly rec'd a "problem solved" message, then 1 minute later a "updated your account." was successful. Thought it nicely smooth.

Found that my StarCraft cd has a skip on one of the orchestra songs as it is played. The disk has a nick in the center. Went online to eBay and order a new replacement disk in 'mint condition' for just $5.99, shpg is included. Such a deal as brand new one was $40, 16 y/ago.

Took a drive on the CT River hwy to see the silver maples have lost their leaves. Continued on to Littleton, went to Lowes and bought M-D Building Products 0.5-in x 10-ft Gray Closed-Cell Foam Window Weatherstrip and Frost King 1.25-in x 10-ft Black Foam Door Weatherstriping.

Spent just over $30 to seal the exterior doors and windows from the air leaks. My windows and doors are 25 y/o. Much of the front door weatherstripping was well worn from use.

Will save money on heat this winter. Walls are insulated to at least R-19 and the 2nd floor ceiling to at least R-38. Built all of my home. Usual cost of heating the house is $100 a month for the entire year.

Also using propane for cooking and hot water as well. Like to save money and keep warm at a low cost.

The ISS orbits over my area at 6:54 this evening. See it in your area along with the other satellites.

Civil twilight is 6:39 AM EDT. Night is 6:21 PM.

Sunrise: 7:09AM. Set: 5:51 PM.

Length of day: 10h 42m. Length of visible light: 11h 42m. Tomorrow will be 2m 55s shorter.

The temp is 34° (1°C), the high will be 55 (13°C) in partly cloudy skies.

Lots of rain arriving (up to 1 inch/25 mm an hour) remaining thru Saturday. 30-40 mph (48-64 k p/h) wind as well.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Can remembering y/a you complained about your thumb. Then you procrastinated the op nearly forever. Ha!

The ISS is early day this week, twice on Wed and Friday. Effortlessly viewed w/the naked eye, unless overcast oscures it.

Entertained myself playing StarCraft in the wee hours after my rounds and posts were completed. Later there was a problem with my internet connection.

The modem kept resetting itself and was up running 2-3 minutes before another reset occurred. Phoned FairPoint, my ISP, and reported this issue. The tech gal tested the line and net from Texas and showed a major problem somewhere.

Techs will test the line and come top the house tomorrow Kind of like this problem. It means a phone call to the biz office will get me a discount of half the usual months cost of $27.99 for 7 Mbps.

Ate the last of the beef stew. Simmered some basmati rice, made Julienne carrots and green beans nuked in the Pyrex mixing bowl. Cooked two of the cod, ate one, and has the leftovers in the fridge.

Will finish the cod, then make a crock dinner w/6-8 servings this week. Have lots of rice. Perhaps it is time for shrimp fried rice along w/a ton of veggies. Also thawed out a 1.5 lb pkg of ground pork sirloin roast. One year ago it was bought for $1.59 a lb. Dbl that these days.

Went outdoors twice after the rain ended at 10 AM. Raw as could be. Damp to the bone. The temp was 39 (4C) at 10:30. At 12:30 is was barely better at 41 (5C), the high for the day. Going to have to get used to the coming deep freeze.

Can hear lots of shots in the distance during the day. They are hunters firing their riffles during this now in full swing hunting season. The shots will ring out until December.

The ISS flies over at 7:44 PM in my area. See when it and the other satellites orbits by in your area.

Civil twilight is 6:38 AM EDT. Night is 6:23 PM.

Sunrise: 7:07AM. Set: 5:53 PM.

Length of day: 10h 45m. Length of visible light: 11h 44m. Tomorrow will be 2m 55s shorter.

The temp is 37° (3°C), the high will be 51 (11°C) in partly cloudy skies.

Have a pleasant day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

In a big way the hip replacement is being looked forward to. The op itself is not.

The ISS will get closer to you next week. Bigger and brighter.

The diltiazem 240 mg a day for my heart palpitations is working fabulously. No longer 150 beats per minute since the first was taken on Friday morn. Could sleep easily and worry free. Perfect!

Enjoyed some StarCraft battles, then some TV Shows on Netflix. Watch 20 minutes of The Following pilot. Liked the escape, found the following 10 minutes of character build up to be boring. Watched an episode of Criminal Minds, which kept my attention gigantically.

The cod on sale at Shaw's, this w/e only was too big a savings to stay away from. Took a drive south on Rt 135 beside the CT River to see much of the sugar maple leaves knocked to the ground and water by the pouring rain.

Did get some pix the other day while the leaves were still green w/a light hue of color. No spectacular colors this year, due to the lack of rain for the past month.

Bought 4 more pieces of wild caught cod, some of the 18 oz cans of Campbells soups for $1 ea, and a HFCS free loaf of Shaw's bread. Still considering the six dbl wide rolls of paper towels for $5.99. That sale remains through Thursday.

Picked up my mail at the PO, then returned home. Had a meal of scrumptious cod, veggies and a healthy salad for my late lunch/dinner combo. Removed 1 24 oz container of soup from the freezer and replaced the space w/the new cod.

It rained on the severe side of moderate much of the day. Listened to the online radio of my fave station and looked through the pix taken all year. Will upload a few every couple of days by Monday's post.

Civil twilight is 6:36 AM EDT. Night is 6:24 PM.

Sunrise: 7:06 AM. Set: 5:55 PM.

Length of day: 10h 48m. Length of visible light: 11h 47m. Tomorrow will be 2m 57s shorter.

The temp is 43° (6°C), our high for the day in overcast skies w/a 40% chance of rain.

Have a splendid day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Great you are feeling much better. Also believe my surgery will be quite more complicated the surgeon will make an 8" incision, slice the muscles, use spreaders to open up to my bone, and cut that sucker off. The the hip replacement is installed. 3 hours is the average time needed. Know it will be beyond sore for some days.

Need to see some shows for entertainment, not music, shows. Miss it much.

Went to lay down after my early morning rounds and posts to get in a nap. All that could be heard was my heart racing and the sound echoing off the mattress from the pillow into my ears.

Drove to the hospital ER and saw the doc. Told him the sound was keeping me from sleeping and worrying me. Asked him to look up the heart specialist recommendations and results.

In under 30 minutes there was a call to Lancaster's Rite Aid for a Rx. Drove the 10 minutes to the pharmacy and had the script of diltiazem 240 mg a day waiting for me.

The pills are normally $60 for a 30 day script. It was an amazing $1.20 w/my AARP Plus coverage plan. Did not have another episode of palpitations since taking the med at 9 AM yesterday. Think taking the medication is a prudent decision.

Stopped at Shaw's for their w/e super sale. Wild, caught at sea, cod is $4.99 a lb. Purchased 4 pieces with thick loins. Normal price is $7.99 alb. Saved about 40% on the sale.

Fried up in evoo a large amount of red, orange, and red bell peppers. After a few minutes same sized chucks of yellow onion were added. Last 8 ounces of baby bella mushrooms were stirred in.

Had a delightful amount of cod, pepper jack cheese melted on top along w/the stir fried veggies. Like that extra was prepared for left overs all w/e. Also bought asparagus for the low cost of $1.88 a lb. Lots of veggie varieties this week to enjoy at mealtime.

The ISS orbits by the East Coast early at 7:44 tonight. See it in your neighborhood along with the other satellites.

Civil twilight is 6:35 AM EDT. Night is 6:26 PM.

Sunrise: 7:05 AM. Set: 5:56 PM.

Length of day: 10h 51m. Length of visible light: 11h 50m. Tomorrow will be 2m 56s shorter.

The temp is 46° (8°C), the high to be 61° (16°C) in overcast skies w/a 70% chance of rain.

Have a tremendous day!

Yep, all returned. I know I posted and reviewing, no find post.

The surgery went very well, no pain. Yesterday was first pain and that was from lifting using my right hand fingers too much. Better today.

You surgery will be more involved than mine, I think. He had to pull and attach a tendon and was to break my thumb bone to get tendon reattached.

We went to Busch Gardens just to see 3 shows and walk. After the 3rd one, we were going to walk around the park a couple of times and go home. Was in the bathroom washing hands and heard "Hey Gramps", turned around and it was my 12 year old grandson. We went out and met up with his mom and dad. Then wife came out and was as pleased as I was to see them. The 2 Gkids are staying here tomorrow night with a 6 year old niece. We went to 2 of the same shows with them and left at about 9:30. Took no time to get home.

Have a GR8 weekend

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

See your speed lines have returned. Worth the write to the mods. Congrats!

It is best you don't remember the op. Good to learn this. Need to feel comfy on the anesthesia.

have heavy overcast. Not 1 star can be seen. Not even the Moon.

Relished in completing my rounds and posts early yesterday to be able to relax and see several TV Shows on Netflix. The rain arrived at 5:15 AM. Heard it as the windows were open. Nice slow steady rain. Temp was a pleasing 62° (17°C). Inside the house was 74° (23°C).

Enjoyed the drive to Littleton. When the rain stopped, the clouds had three depths w/some blue skies as a background. The mountains saw swirling clouds pour over the summit ridges like an ever so slow waterfall.

Bought at the mkt were Brussel Sprouts $2 lb, 5 lbs of carrots imported from Quebec $2, broccoli crowns $1 lb, a Big head of celery $1.14, cukes 40¢ ea, green beans $1.75 lb, and baby bella mushrooms 10 oz for $2.25.

Bartlett pears 98¢ lb, as were most apples. No apples were purchased. Yams were at a recent history low of 65¢ a lb. Big Papa's Mkt was jammed w/8 AM customers.

Bought a few items at WM. Was going to visit my pal who is the mgr of Rite Aid. He took the day off. In fact he takes every other Thursday off. Great to make one's own working hours.

Rain returned in the afternoon. At no time was it moderate. Like having the slow steady rain for hours. We needed it as it did not rain for over a month. Temp was 73° (23°C) in the afternoon. Kept all the windows open. Yet not at night. Civil twilight is 6:34 AM EDT. Night is 6:27 PM.

Sunrise: 7:03 AM. Set: 5:58 PM.

Length of day: 10h 54m. Length of visible light: 11h 53m. Tomorrow will be 2m 58s shorter.

The temp is 60° (16°C), the high to be 66° (22°C) in overcast skies w/a 40% chance of rain.

Have a delightful day!

I did write to mods and points were back today, and 2010 consecutive days.

am going to watch another episode when finished with GB.

Unconscious during the operation? Well, I remember the sleep doc talking to me, going to use nerve block, would feel like a bee sting and my surgeon would talk to me after. Never felt the sting, think they spiked the IV. Woke up, wife was there, was groggy at first, and had this big bulky wrap on my hand. Told her my doc would be in. She said he had come in and talked to me, but I don't remember him being there. Like the nerve block.

Saw on news here that beginning at 5:30 tomorrow, red comet will be visible first time ever. Went upstairs but could not see anything due to tall trees close to house and clouds.

When do you get the hip fixed?

Have a good night

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Write to the mods. They offer 2 chances to get your con days returned w/the speedlines.

Will check out the pilot show of The Following.

Hope your hand hurts far less each day. Were you unconscious during the op?

Ordered StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty on Ebay yesterday morning. The new game is $60. That is the PC version and a very high cost compared to other games. The are many new stunning graphics and improvements over the original.

Ordered it in very good condition for $13.57 inc pstg. Rec'd email confirmation it was shpd. It should be here Tues or next Wed. There is a sequal available now "Heart of the Swarm" and another sequal to be released soon.

Watched some Netflix TV Series. Also going thru the 4 seasons of The Walking Dead. Very graphic scenes that are not recommended while eating.

Went thru 1000+ pix taken spring summer, and fall. Began to upload them in a time frame. Then rec'd notice that my allotted amount of MB is used up during the final upload.

Will now create a new group of pix on another site. Hope to share it next week.

Had the pleasure of a 3 hour nap from 7-10AM. Foe me to sleep that long proves it was needed. Woke up to partly cloudy skies and temps in the 70's. Changed into shorts and a tee and went outdoors.

Mowed the entire lawn mulching up the hardwood leaves. In the extra thick leaf areas it took 2 and 3 runs across the same lines to chip up the leaves into near dust.

Great to do this when the leaves are dry and fluffy. A big job to rake, even bigger when the leaves get soaking wet. Glad to mow them and have free fertilizer in the spring. With spread pelletized lime before the snow falls.

Spent two hours mowing. Wanted this to be my final time using the lawn mower. Enjoyed the looks of a leafless lawn and the thought of not needing the lawn mower until Memorial Day 2015.

Made a fabulous salad of leaf lettuce, delicious home grown tomatoes, ham, prosciutto, and pepper jack cheese w/evoo and garlic on top. Can feel my feet, legs and hip pain after two hours of non stop mowing. Turned in early. Slept later.

Tonight the ISS orbits over the East Coast early at 6:10 PM. See the ISS (w/the naked eye) and all the other satellites in your area at this website.

Civil twilight is 6:33 AM EDT. Night is 6:29 PM.

Sunrise: 7:02 AM. Set: 6:00 PM.

Length of day: 10h 57m. Length of visible light: 11h 56m. Tomorrow will be 2m 58s shorter.

The temp is 60° (16°C), the high to be 71° (22°C) in overcast skies w/an 80% chance of rain. We need it.

Off to find some deals at the mkt and do some light shopping.

Have a fantastic day!

I was sure I posted on VA Beach site, here and gas prices. Have looked were I usually post and no tracks. Had 2005 days as of Sunday
Found a new weekly on Netflix, watched 3 episodes this morning "The Following".

Hand op last Thursday, not much pain, quit meds Sunday. Ached a bit today, but was working with hand and think that irritated the cut. cast off next Wednesday and get hard cast for 3 weeks. Good luck on it, rather have mine done again than yours. KK in VA Beach is having a knee done.

gotta go draft a letter to GB Monitors

Have a good night

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Enjoyed some TV Shows on Netflix in the wee hours after my rounds yesterday morning. Also played some Star Craft: Brood War. Nice to take a needed nap for 90 minutes. Woke up at 8 AM.

Began to ready for my orthopedic appoint later in the morning. Decided to go for the drive to the Town of Whitefield. Here are 20 images of this fabulous New England gem.

Visited my pal's grocery store in that town. Told him how tasty and tender the shoulder roast is and thanked him again for the low price. Bought 1½ lbs of pepper jack cheese, sliced in the deli for $4.99 this week. The stack is nearly 3" tall.

Drove home to put the cheese away. Visited my garden, looked at the remaining perennial and wildflowers. Saw a female ruffed grouse run off into the forest. They look similar to a chicken, tho much smaller.

Pick up a over a dozen pieces of mail at the P.O., sorted thru the you have been approved ones, and tossed those, along w/the ads in the sorting bin. Time to go to my 10:45 hip surgeon's office to meet the female PA, then the surgeon afterwards.

Had all the vitals done. Bp was 140/70, not bad for one who has been sedentary since mowing the lawn almost 1 month ago and no longer working in the gardens. H.T is 81 w/96% O2. Plus 1.2lbs weight loss.

Filled out a massive questionnaire, then the PA asked me a ton more. Countered by asking her a score of Q's some she could not A. Then waited for the surgeon to enter the room and get to the details.

He showed me the actual DePuy hip replacement and explained the procedure. He will give me the ceramic on PVC version cup and head, the most expensive and longest lasting. Not the stainless steel model. That had a class action lawsuit. Also signed the Surgerical Permit Contract of Agreement.

Afterwards 4 x rays were taken with the orthopedic ball marker extended to measure the length and the size of the head that fits into the cap. There was little waiting and it took just a few minutes.

Then my blood was drawn for a red/white blood cell count and to ensure that MRSA is not present. Will also need to get another blood test 1-2 days before the procedure

Sounds great to me. Tho not eating after midnight on the morning of surgery will most likely be a challenge. Not even water is allowed. Am ready to be bionic on Nov 10. Most likely 2 days will be needed overnight to recover and gain leg muscle strength to walk up stairs.

Civil twilight is 6:32 AM EDT. Night is 6:31 PM.

Sunrise: 7:01 AM. Set: 6:01 PM.

Length of day: 11h 00m. Length of visible light: 11h 59m. Tomorrow will be 2m 58s shorter.

The temp is 64° (18°C), the high to be 76° (24°C) in partly cloudy skies now, sun later. Tied for the warmest night of the year and most likely the last one that is warm.

Have a fabulous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Glad you were happy seeing all the pix and links.

You had a thumb op. How did it go?

Woke up and hour earlier than usual yesterday. Tried to roll over and return to sleep. Watched an epi of Law and Order: SVU, hoping it would make me return to sleep. It was not going to happen.

Had Raisin Brand cereal with straw, blue, and raspberries in 1 % milk. Could see the Waning Gibbous, 70% of the Moon was illuminated. Saw the shadows of trees on the ground.

Completed my rounds very early and returned to sleep for two hours. Played several hours of StarCraft: Brood War, the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg.

These three distinct and powerful races battle one another on the ground, in the mtns and in space. Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced, highly competitive, real-time strategy game play.

Had the last of the chicken noodle soup. Have a 24 oz container of it in the freezer. Decided to make a new batch. Used the remaining 2 chicken breasts, plenty of veggies, and added wheat noodles and milled flax seed for my health and to thicken up the soup. Milled flax seed is wonderful for both.

Went out for a look and see on my tomatoes. Glad to have picked a dozen the day before. The remaining ones were frozen. Picked some of them for the rabbits for their food. Rabbits also chew on the lawn.

The lawn... Have purposely neglected it for three weeks. Have allowed all the leaves to fall and cover the grass. When most leaves have fallen, will get the lawnmower, cut it, and mulch in the leaves. No more hours of raking.

Civil twilight is 6:30 AM EDT. Night is 6:32 PM.

Sunrise: 7:00 AM. Set: 6:03 PM.

Length of day: 11h 03m. Length of visible light: 12h 02m. Tomorrow will be 2m 59s shorter.

The temp is 52° (11°C), the high to be 73° (23°C) in partly cloudy skies.

Have a wonderful day!

Disregard the next one, was viewing your videos and accidently closed web site. Liked the music in them, the pigs in the one with all the snow look ready for the market!

Grafton, NH, I live in Grafton, VA! Nice view of the towns.

My TV guide shows Criminal Minds is on ION, Mondays, 8pm and 9pm.

Thanks for the flyover list, missed them.

The town meeting, love to see the piano player in action a see his fingers on the keys!.

The 4th of July parade looked like the one we saw in International Falls, MN.

Time to take meds and go rest my arm!

Have a good night..

Good morning!

Happy Columbus Day and Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!

I ♥ Life!

Played some StarCraft: Brood War yesterday the early morning. Been a few weeks since the real time strategy war game was played.

Then emptied the small amount of ribs and veggies that remained in the crock pot. After washing it, the shoulder roast purchased for $3.49 a lb at store where my pal works as the meat mgr was trimmed of all the fat.

Turn on the crock's outside container on to get it well hot. Trimmed close to ½ lb of fat. Was fastidious in the tiniest places. Added some evoo, a 12 oz bottle of beef gravy, carrots red potatoes, and the placed the roast deep in the gravy.

A half cup of water and 6 cloves of garlic, diced, two tbsp of Worcestershire sauce and a tbsp of Mrs Dash were added. Into the nuke the 6 qt ceramic pot went to get the contents hot and cut cooking time.

Three hours later a huge crown of broccoli was cut in big florets, along w/3 yellows onions peeled and sliced into a cross of quarters were added. Turned the setting to low heat.

Changed into a new ball game tee, my tennis shoes, and white shorts. Took a drive down to the CT River. Took a half dozen of shots. Mostly the silver trees were predominately green w/hues of color.

Got the pix just in case the trees don't turn or rain and wind knock off the leaves. Not enough color to make the pix worthy of sharing. Thought of heading to the summit of Mt Prospect, yet know the colors are far past peak in the distance.

Went to the local Shaw's to get some 1 lb boxed of wheat pasta of several varieties at the w/e only sale. Broccoli crowns were also on sale for 99¢. They are usually $1.49-$1.59 a lb in this area.

Returned home to a blast of flavors when the front door was opened. Became instantly hungry. Filled a plate with a combo of everything in the crock pot, the added 3 tbsp of water in a cup and the same amount of corn starch well mixed, then added to the crock pot and mixed in.

It will nicely thicken the gravy contents into a stew consistency. Was a fantastic meal. Seconds were had, then a slice of blueberry pie bought at super WM the other day. The 24 oz 8" bb pie was just $3.98.

Picked 12 of the ripest tomatoes on the vines. They are 3-4" in diameter. The size of softballs. More than can be eaten in a week.

The ISS appears at 6:57 PM tonight coming in from the west. See it in your area and time w/the flyover list here. It is the brightest object in the sky other than the Moon.

Civil twilight is 6:28 AM EDT. Night is 6:36 PM.

Sunrise: 6:57 AM. Set: 6:07 PM.

Length of day: 11h 06m. Length of visible light: 12h 05m. Tomorrow will be 2m 59s shorter.

The temp is 27° (-3°C), the high to be 65° (18°C) in clear skies.

Have a pleasant day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life and others that post!

Tried to get in a nap at 8AM. Too much on my mind to fall asleep. At least rested for 30 minutes.

Was down to my last yellow onion making a Western. Saw an epi of The Walking Dead, then filled my car with four bags of recyclables. Headed to the dump at 9 and shot the breeze w/the attendant after transferring the items.

Drove on the CT River Hwy to check out the silver maples. The river was steaming w/thick fog. The air was 34°F / 1°C with the water in the 40's. In fact a tee and shorts are getting out of place w/seeing your breath in the cold morning air.

Deciding to buy 10 more cans of tuna in water at Shaw's for 69¢ a can to stock up. Their stocked brand Essential Cream of Chicken was also on sale for 50¢s; an can.

Stocked up on 8 more cans. WM sells them for $1.25 so there is a fabulous savings. They had nicely sliced prosciutto ham sliced in pkgs in the case for $3.99 a lb. Well worth the price as regulary is $10.99 a lb.

Visited Porfido's Market and Deli in Littleton while in town. Frank Sr bought the building in 1930 and its been in the family since. Found excellent rare pastrami there for the everyday price of $5.99 a lb. It is usually at least $10 a lb.

Enjoyed the new paving on the CT River Hwy on the journey. So pleasing to drive on that stretch of heaven. The river is so slow and the trees very reflective in the gentle water. The silver maples have not yet reached their peak colors.

Civil twilight is 6:28 AM EDT. Night is 6:36 PM.

Sunrise: 6:57 AM. Set: 6:07 PM.

Length of day: 11h 09m. Length of visible light: 12h 08m. Tomorrow will be 3m 0s shorter.

The temp is 33° (.5°C), the high to be 58° (14°C) in partly cloudy skies.

Have a splendid day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Temp was freezing yesterday morning. Saw the grass white w/frost when going outdoors. The tomatoes somehow made it. Will be harvesting the remaining real soon.

The wildflowers are blooming wonderfully.Took several shots over the past several weeks. Will add them to my albums. Still sorting thru over 1,000 photos. It takes time, that is an understatement.

Jumped into the Dart, pulled to the foot of the driveway at the road. 6 healthy wild turkeys were startled and were there figuring out which way to go. Caught a photo of 3-4 of them before they hopped into the forest.

Drove down the CT River Hwy. The silver maples have hues of red on their green leaves. These trees are the last to turn. With the temps dropping, the colors should be worth the wait.

Visited my pal the meat mgr in their Whitefield store. Told him my mind was set on making home made beef stew. MSG free and nicely thick. Had checked out the prices and cuts that Shaw's sells.

Shaw's wanted $4.99-$5.49 for cut stew beef and a shoulder roast. My pal cut several shoulder roasts and added a $3.49 a lb price to the 3 pkgs. Chose one and thanked him for the excellent low price.

Also bought hot Italian sausage, store made at $2.99 a lb and deli sliced pepper jack cheese for just $4.99 on sale this week.

Saw a longtime friend working on his gravel drive. Stopped to chat w/him. He was repaired the sloped drive the rain washed away w/a hand shovel and a wheelbarrow. He just turned 76 y/o.

He showed me inside his new to him, used 24' trail trailers. He paid $2,200 for one and $2,500 for the other. Said he plans on doing trailer camping w/one and sleep in the other on occasion.

Someone dumped 3 6 wheel loads of garbage on the side banks of his parking area. Then dumped a load of 150 scrape tires down another bank. He lives in a trailer on top of a small mtn, about 1000' above the parking area.

There is a very steep road that one needs a 4 wheel drive to make it up the mtn to his home. He can not see below. He has a huge mess to clean and wants to catch the perp. Not sure if someone is angry at him or discovered by chance a place to haul junk and dump it. What a dirty deed to do to someone.

Civil twilight is 6:27 AM EDT. Night is 6:38 PM.

Sunrise: 6:56 AM. Set: 6:08 PM.

Length of day: 11h 12m. Length of visible light: 12h 10m. Tomorrow will be 3m 1s shorter.

The temp is 37° (3°C), the high to be 58° (14°C) in partly cloudy skies.

Have a tremendous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

It was a gentle, pleasant drive back to Littleton to shop at Big Papa's Mkt, Since it opens only 2.5 days a week beginning on each Thursday, do like to get there early for the best choices.

Bought a shopping bag size leaf lettuce for $1.50, 16 oz Foxy strawberries $1.75, 18 oz of blueberries $2.95, 12 oz raspberries $2.95, red grapes $2 a lb, red and yellow bell peppers $1.35 a lb.

No 5 bulbs in a bag garlic this week. Had to pay $.41 for a huge one. Bartlett pears are 78¢ a lb, Yams 77¢ a lb, and 3 lbs of carrots $1.33.

Took the drive south on US 302 to the hamlet of Woodsville, NH to its super WM. Bought lots of food items my small local WM does not carry.

Returned home via the wicked winding NH Rt 135 thru rural America just inland from the CT River. Many old farmhouses, barns, cows, and hay fields are seen.

Farmers are cutting the last of the hay, drying it out, bailing it, then storing it in their barns. Enjoyed going thru the quaint Town of Monroe, NH.

This is my 6th or 7th in 20 years time visiting this rural town. Some 6 years worth of pix are found on this site.

Returned home for a hearty rib and veggies lunch. Felt the need of a cup of chicken soup for dessert. Somehow my pc lost its sound while out shopping.

Using my 'system restore' the machine was restarted w/settings 5 days in the past to correct the sound problem. Took 25 minutes while the pc did its thing. All is now well.

Civil twilight is 6:25 AM EDT. Night is 6:39 PM.

Sunrise: 6:55 AM. Set: 6:10 PM.

Length of day: 11h 15m. Length of visible light: 12h 13m. Tomorrow will be 3m 1s shorter.

The temp is 42° (6°C), the high to be 55° (13°C) in scattered clouds.

Have a delightful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Have been told now eating 6 hours before surgery. Would be 9 AM in your case. Only water up to two hours before. Hope your surgery went well and your thumb will be in good shape asap.

Suddenly a bull moose bounded up the bank onto US Rt 2 in front of me in Guildhall, VT. Slowed and pulled over on the hwy. There is no breakdown lane.

Grabbed my camera and just started taking pictures. Two worthy ones are in the above link. Am glad at that minute there were no other vehicles on the hwy. The young fellow turned back to the direction he originally came from. Away from the river.

Had an 8 AM follow up with the oral surgeon. Asked what was the anesthesia rec'd last week? He stated it was propofol. Worked great IMO. Did not feel or remember the surgery. Who would want to?

Also rec'd a photo copy of the consent form giving my written permission for the oral surgery. In a mere few seconds he remarked. "Ah, your gums are healing rapidly."

Was good to learn this as this also means my borderline diabetes is nicely low which supports the expeditious healing of my gums. Felt great on the way out. Two women were entering the building w/lots of presentation equipment and posters. "Good luck!"

The ISS arrives twice tonight early in the East Coast. 6:57 PM and 8:34. Biggest brightest object in the sky, except the Moo. See when it arrives in your area at this site.

Went to visit my pal the Rite Aid store mgr. He told me that Boston's Beer (Sam Adams) "Rebel" arrived. Looked at a bottle in the light. It was golden. Not a fan of that. Prefer red, brown, or near black ale. Passed on an $8.49 pricey six pack.

Shopped at WM and bought a few items that were needed. All except wide coat hangers. Was on the written list. Forgot about them somehow.

Returned home via the CT River hwy. Silver maple leaves have a hint of color. No where near their peak yet. Will try again later. The last two days of rain and last night's temp dropping into the 30's should brighten the colors.

Will shop at Big Papa'sMkt (the new prices are listed at about 9 AM EST). Then perhaps take the trip to super WM in Woodsville.

Civil twilight is 6:24 AM EDT. Night is 6:41 PM.

Sunrise: 6:53 AM. Set: 6:12 PM.

Length of day: 11h 18m. Length of visible light: 12h 16m. Tomorrow will be 3m 0s shorter.

The temp is 51° (11°C), the high to be 64° (18°C) w/a 30% chance of rain.

Have a fantastic day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Going today for a follow up on the dental surgery. Hope the heck it is over. Not want to go thru that again.

Will bookmark it for the future. Does Retired and going something or another make the word rage?

Overcast w/rain no Moon or ISS will be seen.

Added the remaining chicken contents to a 1 qt stainless steel pan and washed the crock pot porcelain. Only cooked two chicken breasts the other day, so there was not much remaining.

Added evoo, red potatoes, carrots, and well trimmed of fat southern spare ribs to the crock pot, plus 4 oz of water and 4 cloves of diced garlic. Like to turn on the crock pot base and nuke the porcelain to get it hot before combing the two.

Vacuumed the first floor, washed and waxed the tile kitchen floor. It needed to be done. The rain was a great incentive to get 'er done. My back was getting a bit achy so a 90 min nap was taken.

Vacuumed the 2nd floor, washed the walls and the bath floor. The pleasant smell of garlic permeating throughout the house was maddening. Sat down to a plate of ribs and veggies. Ribs was falling off the bone.

Did the laundry and took a ride down by the CT River. Lots of color in the mtns, the riparian zone was still on the too green side for me. Have another few days to catch the colors at peak before the wind of rain knock off the leaves.

No extra time to view nearly 1,000 photos and to upload them. Hope to find time during the afternoon or tomorrow. Part of the delay is they are in 8 folders, each w/100s of photos.

Civil twilight is 6:23 AM EDT. Night is 6:43 PM.

Sunrise: 6:52 AM. Set: 6:14 PM.

Length of day: 11h 21m. Length of visible light: 12h 19m. Tomorrow will be 3m 1s shorter.

The temp is 48° (9°C), the high to be 62° (17°C) in light rain.

Have a follow up appointment with the oral surgeon at 8 AM.

Have a fabulous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

What was the name of the movie?

Took a drive to Littleton in the morning. Would be half way there as the silver maples were reached on the CT River. They still have lots of turning to do to get a good shot.

Went to the credit union to pay my car loan for the month. Thought about going another 20 miles to Woodsville, NH to buy a few items at the closest Super WM.

Just did not want to spend the time. It was already mid morning. Earlier would be more ideal as inc shopping it is a three hour event. My local WM discontinued stocking no fat cheese.

Returned home to sit in the sun which is dropping below the tree line after 1 PM for the day. That lasted until a strong wind gust made me chilly. Saw lots of leaves flying off the trees.

The high was 61° (16°C) w/10 mph (16 kph) gusts at times. Put my magazine down and went ti the shed for the pitchfork. Turned over some of the garden soil until my back ached from bending and lifting the soil.

Returned to the house to put on the back support and make a terrific salad w/leaf lettuce, spinach, bell peppers, onions, tiny uncooked broccoli bits, cukes, w/small chunks of ham and cheddar cheese. Evoo and diced garlic is my fave dressing.

Had an appointment w/the replacement surgeon on Friday. He said his staff will call on Monday. They did. Have a pre op visit next Tues w/the anesthesiologist to talk shop. Then the replacement surgery will be performed in Nov. They sent me an email to remind and confirm. Am a very happy camper.

Still working on organizing and uploading the flower and autumn photos. Just ran out of time to finish. Photos are coming soon.

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

What was the name of the movie?

Made an early morning crock pot meal of boneless skinless chicken breast in a 26 oz ($1.08 at Shaw's) can of cream of chicken. Added a half cup of water, cut some green beans, carrots, red potatoes and celery to the pot. Also garlic. Naturally.

Nuked the crock pot in the microwave for 10 minute to heat the ceramic pot and contents. The pot was placed in the heated stand and left to do its thing for 4 hours.

Watched some gratifying TV Shows on Netflix until the aroma drove me nuts. Sampled the celery to see if it was softened to my liking and it was. Made some mashed potatoes, then made a plate full for my 9 AM lunch.

Took a drive to Littleton on a full stomach. Wore a t-shirt and shorts in 56° (14°C) temps. The sky was a medium blue, just a few clouds, and lots of sun. There was no traffic. Was King of the Road.

Visited the huge Shaw's there for some prosciutto, yogurt 6 oz for 88¢, and southern spare ribs for $1.49and avocados for 88¢. The last three were on the w/e madness sale.

Visited my pal at Rite Aid, then enjoyed the ride on the return trip. The mtns are becoming past peak. Yet the silver maples on both sides of the CT River still have lots of color just beginning.

Have a new folder on my pc of 106 photos taken of my gardens, new wild flowers, and the peak foliage, including mtns of the area recently. Tried to upload them in the afternoon w/o success. Will try plan B later.

Civil twilight is 6:21 AM EDT. Night is 6:46 PM.

Sunrise: 6:50 AM. Set: 6:17 PM.

Length of day: 11h 27m. Length of visible light: 12h 25m. Tomorrow will be 3m 2s shorter.

The temp is 34° (1°C), the high to be 64° (18°C) w/scattered clouds.

Have a pleasant day!

Midnight, watched movie with Nicklaus Cage, can't find title, daughter goes missing and he teams back up with old friends and all Hell breaks out with the Russans. Don't really care for Cage, but was a good flick with a surprise ending. Lots of action.

Paid $3.05 today for regular at WAWA

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

All dressed up and nowhere to go.

Enjoyed a pleasant early morning watching 3 of my 4 favorite shows. They are Law & Order: SVU, Criminal Minds, and The Living Dead. The 4th and a real fave is CSI: Miami.

Took a drive to my pal the meat mgr in Whitefield and talked up red meat that was formerly called 7 bone chuck. He said they never carry much red meat w/the bone in as much of it is boneless these days.

The meat packing Co's have a sweetheart deal w/the grocery industry. Instead of selling stores a chuck, say for beef stew or Stroganoff for $3.69 a lb. The stores sell sliced stew meat for $4.99 and up. More revenue. What a game.

Drove up to the summit of Mt Prospect during this cloud and ominous looking day. Took photos of the views.

My Flicker account, tho ultra high resolution, wants a log in for Yahoo as well. Not playing their game.

Also pulled over on US Rt 3 and took photos of the northern mountains in its autumn splendor. Plan to post them during Monday's post on GB.

Stopped in town to buy gas for $3.31 for reg at C.N. Browns pumps just north of the Lancaster Fairgrounds. The lowest up north elsewhere is $3.36 a gallon.

The threat of rain kept me inside after taking my fill looking at the gardens in 63° (17°C) temps. Could see the rain arriving in VT on the radar map. Sure could use some hours of light to moderate rain.

Civil twilight is 6:19 AM EDT. Night is 6:48 PM.

Sunrise: 6:48 AM. Set: 6:19 PM.

Length of day: 11h 30m. Length of visible light: 12h 28m. Tomorrow will be 3m 2s shorter.

The temp is 48° (9°C), the high to be 57° (14°C), w/light rain now, partly cloudy later.

Have a splendid day!

How did the thumb treatment go?

Have Homefront on my list. Read the ratings which many gave it a disappointing review. Like Winona Ryder and Izabela (daughter of Elizabeth) Vidovic. So may see it for them.

Had an interesting night of sleep overnight on Friday morn. 5 hours of not enough sleep the first time, then returned to sleep for 2.5 hours more. Felt much better doing my rounds at 3:30 AM.

Had a 9 AM appointment w/a heart specialist who drove up from Dartmouth Medical/Hospital for his one day a month visits to patients. Rec'd an EKG twice at the office.

The first time the palpitations occurred as the electrical activity of the heart was being tested. Had a 2nd one minutes later. Between the EKG and the Zio monitoring of 7 days in August, this specialist said my heart is strong, just has episodes of arrhythmia.

It is SVT (Supraventricular tachycardia). The Dr said in the one week of monitoring w/the Zio, there were 165 incidents from 1.5 seconds to 2.5 minutes in length.

My options are:
     1. Watchful waiting.
     2. Medication, e.g. diltiazem, 240 mg a day.
     3. Ablation using a catheter.

Late morning was the pre op appointment w/the hip surgeon. Had written down lots of questions and he gave me the answers that were needed. He asked more questions about my 5 years in LA than was necessary.

He spent an hour asking Q's about my work and of the 2nd-3rd degree burns rec'd when a teenage ran a stop sign and slammed into my car. Like he was testing my mental state. Answered all his Q's,as tho he were a new friend.

He will discuss my arrhythmia will my PCP and the heart specialist. Naturally he wants to make certain the hip replacement op will not kill me.

Thought that was a very good idea as well. He said he will make a tentative appointment in 3-weeks after a conference w/the 2 other doctors.

One more x ray will be taken of the worn out hip cartilage and perhaps the op will be soon after. It will be 1-2 days in the hospital, then home visits w/a RN, and therapy. Should be good to go by T-Day.

No time to spend in the sun yesterday while it was 74° (23°C) in paradise.

Civil twilight is 6:18 AM EDT. Night is 6:50 PM.

Sunrise: 6:47 AM. Set: 6:21 PM.

Length of day: 11h 33m. Length of visible light: 12h 31m. Tomorrow will be 3m 3s shorter.

The temp is 52° (11°C), the high to be 62° (17°C), w/a 70% chance of rain.

Have a tremendous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

L&O:SVU stars Mariska Hargitay. She is Jane Mansfield's daughter. A fabulous police drama.

Had a happy drive beside the CT River on Rt 135 to Littleton. The silver maples on both sides are getting to be just the way a photo is desired. Have until Saturday's rain to wait out the maximum colors.

Bought at Big Papa's Market were orange and red bell peppers $1.33 a lb, lemons 5 for $2, limes 5/$1, a cantaloup for $1.50, a giant head of green leaf lettuce for $1.50 and 1 lb of spinach for $3.

Passed on the Bartlett pears for 88¢a lb. Apples were $1 a lb. Apples/pears are too tough a chew for my jaw. Even grapes are too much for my tender mandible after Monday's oral surgery. Cottage cheese on an omelet is Heaven.

Lately it has been overcast or mostly cloudy. Got to sit in the sun for an hour to soak up vitamin D from the UV rays. There are 3 types of UV rays.

UVA: A stands for Aging.
UVA radiation penetrates deep into the skin and is responsible for premature aging of the skin and skin cancer. Tanning beds can emit 2 to 5 times more UVA radiation than the sun.

UVB: B stands for Burning.
UVB radiation is stronger than UVA radiation. It mainly affects the outer layers of the skin, causing sunburns, premature aging of the skin, and skin cancer. These rays are strongest during the summer months – especially between 11 am and 4 pm.

UVC:
UVC radiation is the strongest, most dangerous form of UV light. However, they are stopped by the earth’s atmosphere and do not reach earth’s surface.

In a few weeks the temp may be to cold for shorts and a t-shirt. Want all the vitamin D before the sun remains below the tree tops for the winter. Come December, the sun is never seen in the sky.

The sun remains out of sight, hidden in the trees all day long, and returns during our sugar maple syrup season at the end of March.

Civil twilight is 6:17 AM EDT. Night is 6:52 PM.

Sunrise: 6:46 AM. Set: 6:23 PM.

Length of day: 11h 36m. Length of visible light: 12h 34m. Tomorrow will be 3m 2s shorter.

The temp is 45° (7°C), the high to be 71° (22°C) in clear skies.

Have 2 doctor's appointments this morning. One for my hip replacement. The other for the mixed up electric signals sent to my heart. Plan to sit in the sun afterwards.

Have a delightful day!

I ♥ Life

Don't think have watched L & O before. Stuck on CBS programs.
Liked the CT River link.
Was getting scratchy throat last Wednesday when we arrived home from Maine. Wife told me to fix some chicken noodle soap. Had a can and 2 cans during the day Thursday.
Thanks for speaking of Netflix, think I will watch one from my list.

Have a good evening and day tomorrow

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Was very happy to discover Law & Order has a new contract on Netflix and is on for at least another month. Am on Season 12. Like the known special guest stars like Robin Williams and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Made some home made chicken noodle soup in the crock pot. While the chopped green beans, celery, and carrots were cooking, went to Shaw's for their $1.99 sale on boneless, skinless chicken breasts.

Stopped at the P.O. for my mail, Then took a drive on the CT River Hwy The CT River (1m:07s) is a 410-mile journey from the Canadian border to the Atlantic Ocean in Long Island Sound. It is not yet peak and getting more vivid color daily.

Returned home to add wheat noodles, diced chicken breast and sliced baby bella mushrooms to the chicken soup. Added some evoo basil, a touch of parsley, onions and diced chives from the garden in it. 3.5 hours later Had a 4 quart multi veggie meal.

Was watching the new to me pilot show of "The walking Dead" on Netflix. In a world devastated by a zombie apocalypse, a small band of survivors pulls together to find safety — and answers — within the walls of the CDC in Atlanta.

Heard a terrible grinding sound and went outdoors. The town hired a brush hog to mow down the brush on the side of the road. Problem was the fellow was extending the tractor arm attached to brush hog to clear all the branches of my tree limbs on my property.

Was very angry, told him it was my property he was cutting on. He 'fessed up to it, and gave me his name, which is not in the telephone book. Also wrote down the plate of the tractor.

Minutes later my neighbor to the north, who drove me to the oral surgeon on Monday, stopped by w/another Jehovah Witness driving. He asked me how it was going. Told him how the brush hog did not just clear the bank, he he extended the arm to cut the limbs off my trees.

He read from the Book of Matthew 18:15, "Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother." That is exactly what happened.

Civil twilight is 6:16 AM EDT. Night is 6:54 PM.

Sunrise: 6:45 AM. Set: 6:25 PM.

Length of day: 11h 39m. Length of visible light: 12h 37m. Tomorrow will be 3m 3s shorter.

The temp is 57° (14°C), the high to be 69° (20°C) in partially cloudy skies.

Will go to Big Papa's Market and shop at a few other stores. Don't plan on buying much.

Have a fantastic day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Enjoyed the pix very much. Thank you!

Woke up before midnight last night. Completed my posts and took a 3 hour nap. The med's (percodan) is making me very sleepy. Like the feeling after staying up for an all nighter.

Had an omelet Western style for brekky. Watched several Law & Order episodes. 12 AM PST is the last day Netflix will stream the series. A phone call to Netflix said they may extend the contract. Saw the many episodes into the 12th season. Now it's time for other shows.

The first order of business was to drive to the resident orthopedist at the hospital. Have an late Friday morning appointment with the surgeon that will operate on the right hip replacement.

This is not the op, it has been more than six months since my last visit. Dr wants to refresh me on the procedure and what to expect on the days of recovery and etc.

Took a pleasant ride along the CT River Hwy to Cushman, NH which is a hamlet of the Town of Dalton, NH (pop: 979) then crossed the steel bridge into Gilman, VT.

Gilman was a mill village for the workers of the Gilman Paper Company since the 1880's. The paper mill offered heat for free in a big pipe under the main street for residents to have free heat in their company built tract homes.

The mill was bought and sold several times. The last being Durango Paper Co. Many left the mill being owed back pay, retirement, and benefits. A bit more info is found in this link.

The village of Gilman, VT is part of Lunenburg, VT. The 2000 census gives the pop: 1,328. Households are 516 w/366 families in town.

Returned home via US Rt2 in VT. Lots of color in the hills and mtns. Some silver maples by the river have hints of lemon & lime or fire orange and red. Have my heart on a shot of multicolored leaves lining both sides of the CT River.

Civil twilight is 6:15 AM EDT. Night is 6:55 PM.

Sunrise: 6:44 AM. Set: 6:26 PM.

Length of day: 11h 43m. Length of visible light: 12h 40m. Tomorrow will be 3m 3s shorter.

The temp is 50° (10°C), the high to be 72° (22°C) w partial clouds.

Have a fabulous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Holy mackerel. What a drive!

Also sleepy.It is the meds.

My neighbor called at 7:30 AM yesterday to dbl check the time and to make sure the oral surgery was still on. Had forgotten to switch the ringer on. The answering machine took the message.

Called his house and his wife said he was on his way up the mtn to visit me. Went outdoors and talked w/him about the time to leave. He commented w/praise on the new wildflower section that is beginning to blossom.

We left early to the dental office. Mentioned to my neighbor of the north the way the office mgr misunderstood the last visit and mistakenly said my Ins no longer covers this dental procedure.

He opened his glove, asked me to remove the Bible, and to read out loud Proverbs 17:27. "The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. 28: Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues."

Arrived at the office, filled the forms, took it nicely that the mgr said we never bill, co-payment must be paid. Gave them their foolish $44 and change, and had a seat beside my friend.

Was called into the op room quickly. The Dr had four female assistants to help him and ease my anxiety. They took my vitals and attached 2 electrodes to monitor my heart.

Did not even ask what the BP or pulse was. Knew it was high. The anesthesiologist missed the first attempt at a vein. Then got it right on my left hand. With a #20 needle, it was uncomfortable.

Soon the Vicodin and another drug that its name is forgotten was used began to take effect. Have little recollection other than four women looking at me smiling.

In under an hour they said the procedure was completed. Just as was told me, it truly felt like a mere 5 minutes passed w/no memory of the oral surgery.

My gums and jaw are very sore, swollen, and hurting. Rec'd a Rx of 20 percodan that cost me an amazing 18¢ for the entire script on my AARP plan. Was very surprised at this low price and most thankful.

Returned home took a 3 hour nap and plan to take it easy for a few days. Will phone the Orthopedic office today for a hip replacement surgery appointment asap. Am so thankful that phase one is out of the way.

Civil twilight is 6:13 AM EDT. Night is 6:57 PM.

Sunrise: 6:42 AM. Set: 6:28 PM.

Length of day: 11h 45m. Length of visible light: 12h 43m. Tomorrow will be 3m 3s shorter.

The temp is 56° (13°C), the high to be 75° (24°C) in mostly clear skies.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Did you fly to Portland and then rent? How ya get to Maine? Hunting season in is here New England.

Went out at 4:52 AM to look for the ISS. Did see lots of fog. The Earth was in the 70's (24°C) while the air dropped to 48° (9°C). Will be lots of fog with the warm days and cool nights. The ISS returns at 5:38 AM.

The sun burned the fog off mid morning. There was the annual 2 days giant Lions Car Show in Littleton. Went two y/ago. My hip could tolerate walking to see 100's of classic, muscle, and antique vehicles.

Drove to the summit of Mt Prospect in Weeks State Park. Saw long time hiker Al and stopped to talk. His 14 y/o companion animal, blind from cataracts passed away two weeks ago.

His dog Lady was a Schipperke. A very handsome dog that weighed 12 lbs. We swapped dog loss stories and tales of joy having them in our lives.

The summit was packed w/locals and tourists visiting for the first time. The stucco finished lodge 30' x 70' (9.1 by 21.3 meters) could use some exterior work. Some areas of the front facade are falling off.

420 acres around and on the summit were purchased in 1910. The lodge was finished in 1913. The entire second floor is the living room. Its many large picture windows are most unusual for the era. Balconies take full advantage of the lodge's mountain-top setting, providing dramatic views of the surrounding scenery.

Massive fieldstone fireplaces stand at either end of the living room. According to one popular story, the large moose head over the west fireplace was a gift from President Theodore Roosevelt. Another story said the President shot it on the property.

The floor and trim in the room, as well as the original furniture, are dark oak. Signed photographs of many dignitaries are displayed on the walls; among them are William Taft, Herbert Hoover, Theodore Roosevelt, and Marshall Joffre of France.

The fieldstone tower in front of the house, listed in the National Historic Lookout Register, was originally built as both an observatory and water tower. At 56 feet (17m) high, its observation deck affords spectacular views of three states and Canada.

Civil twilight is 6:12 AM EDT. Night is 6:59 PM.

Sunrise: 6:41 AM. Set: 6:30 PM.

Length of day: 11h 49m. Length of visible light: 12h 46m. Tomorrow will be 3m 3s shorter.

The temp is 50° (10°C), the high to be 80° (27°C) in mostly skies.

Have a 10:30 appointment for oral surgery. My neighbor will drive and return me home.

Have a pleasant day!
