I 💗 life!

Good morning Happy!

You may have told me that years ago because it sounds kind of familiar. I was going to say 12" but I had to look it up & see it was 17". The turrets were 19.7"! That's so cool you got to go on it! I should've checked it out when I traveled to NNS when I worked there, if I would've only known it then. Did I ever show you the ship launching up here at Marinette shipbuilding? Here it is in case I didn't. It's only 20 miles from us & can see it over the bridge when go into Michigan. They have 2 ships in the river right now.

If you roll up your truck window like this ...........dare I say..................you might be a redneck.

Have a marvelous Monday!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Ya gotta try real maple syrup again. There are 4 grades. Now combined into three. Try the grid system of play. You will win more games!

Watched "Bless The Child" on Netflix (2000) R 1hr 47m. A Psychiatric nurse Maggie's (Kim Basinger) ordinary life becomes anything but after she takes in her sister's young child and uncovers a frightening truth about the girl.

Not sure why the critics gave this movie so many negative reviews. An excellent movie with a fine cast and solid acting. The concept of good vs evil is always entertaining. Jimmy Smits from NYPD Blue co-stars. 5/5 stars.

Opened the last pkg of point cut corned beef, simmered it in fresh water twice, then slow cooked it submerged in the crock pot for 4 hours. Nice and tender. Needed a break from the chicken drumettes made the other day.

Dressed for the 26° (-3°C) temps and went out to sand the driveway. The snow on it is now ice. The sand in the barrel has lots of rock salt to help melt the ice.

Took a Nalgene bottle of water and headed up the mtn. The road was a sheet of ice w/the melt of the days and the freezing of the nights. It was a struggle to get traction w/my hiking boots w/the road being all ice.

Had a heck of a time using great effort to get to the log cabin. Was not an enjoyable experience. The town needs to spread some pebbles. The views from the clear cut in VT and northern NH are magnificent. Blue skies w/o any clouds were super. 1 mile plus some elevation gain.

The temp reached 40° (4°C) mid afternoon. Tuesday into Wed morning sees a 60% chance for snow. Which is okay. Most days are now above freezing. Springtime in the northern NH mtns.

The temp is 23° (-5°C) with the high to be 45° (7°C). Snow is expected. Then rain, back to snow tonight.

Civil twilight is 6:02 AM EST. Night is 7:40 PM.

Sunrise: 6:31 AM. Set: 7:10 PM.

Length of day: 12h 39m. Length of visible light: 13h 38m. Tomorrow will be 3m 04s longer.

Have a pleasant day!

Hi Snow, yep, have seen Battleship, good movie. To add a few tidbits to the USS WISCONSIN BB64, has a nickname, the Wistucky! The USS KENTUCKY was under construction when the war ended and work was stopped. The WISCONSIN collided with another ship and crushed the bow section. The bow section on the KENTUCKY was cut off and put on the WISCONSIN, therefore, the WISCONSIN became known as the WISTUCKY. The WISCONSIN sits at a pier in Norfolk as a museum. Have been aboard many times. Also, do you have any idea how thick the inner hull, surrounding the fire rooms and machinery spaces?

Hi Midnight, don't care for maple syrup. Eat waffles with butter and honey.
Kinda steep for syrup! Wouldn't mind touring a syrup plant some day. Love playing risk, but no one wants to play it with Gramps. Sore losers. Grand son beats me at Battleship more times than I beat him.

Have a good week

Speaking of Battleship....have you seen the movie? It's been on TV many times the past few weeks. They have BB64 (The USS Wisconsin) in it. Cool movie!

If the door on your truck looks anything like this ............................you might be a redneck.

Happy Palm Sunday!

The valley below has mud. Ours arrives in a few weeks. Lasts about 1 month. Gas dropped to $2.13 locally. Yemen is not panicking the world's oil mkt. Love playing Risk. A way cool board game.

Visited my pal the meat mgr in Whitefield to discover he had a vacay in Kansas City all week. His wife and him enjoyed the 75° (24°C) and the beauty of the area. Was surprised that my hands did not grab the low priced meats and left empty handed.

Went to Shaw's for their w/e specials. Bought reduced low fat 4 Italian shredded cheese for $1.77 for 8 oz's, All 2 liter coke products were $1. These two item offered bonus tickets to the come on game "80 Million in Prizes" Monopoly playing coast to coast.

Stopped at my PO to pick up my mail. Got a letter from some unknown that misspelled mt name and wrote the town as "Landcaster" (sic). Had the Postmaster return to sender: refused. Sure did not have that good feeling to it. The second letter sent from the same person/address.

Thought of the cheese for $3.54 a lb and returned to the store to buy 6 more in the 8 oz pkgs. One gets a ticket for the transaction plus 1 ticket for each additional "Bonus tix" item. The price of the cheese is the 2nd lowest ever. Can remember once at $1.59 for 8 oz.

Drove to the Fuller's Sugarhouse (see the 3m s video inc the entire operation). Was greeted by hosts Ed, Dave and Patti Fuller, their now adult children and a few smiling young ladies.

The gift shop and the sugar house were packed w/ people itching to get on a fine spring day. Had a wonderful coffee w/maple syrup as the sugar, plain homemade donuts to dunk, and a cone of maple syrup on snow, all gratis.

Took a tour of the section of the real post and beam building that sold sugaring tools, evaporators, lines, buckets accessories and has several reverse osmosis filters for sale.

Went in the boiling room w/their 3 y/o state of the art evaporator made of stainless steel, and non wood store firebox, a mere $90,000 investment.

Five weeks of sugaring is expected in the Lancaster area. Just 5 days ago was the first real sap flowing. They use a vacuum system. Thursday they boiled 9,000 gallons of sap to produce just 160 gallons of maple syrup.

The gift shop is stocked with nostalgia, paintings, maple sugar, candy, sampler's, and many items to fill its country charm store. Had a sample of local made blackberry jam. At $8.69 for 18 oz's, it is twice the price of the Amish jam sold at at Big Papa's Mkt for $4.50.

Educated the family on carrageenan. None was in their jam. Said it is a thickener found in many foods such as jellies, jam, meat, cookies, cakes, and dairy/ice cream products.

Same as adding two heaping tablespoons of Vaseline to hot chocolate to give it texture, thickening, and stabilizing agents. It increases shelf live. Many folks get stomach cramps from it. See carageenan is in most ice cream.

A gallon of maple syrup this year at the Fuller Sugarhouse is a whopping $79.95. Half gallon $49.95 this year. Non commercial mom and pop sugar house sell a gallon in the $45 and up price range in my area.

Learned there is a new standardized grading system implemented in Canada and in the USA. This page has the new grades and maple sugar history.

The temp is 6° (-14°C) with the high to be 35° (2°C).

Civil twilight is 6:04 AM EST. Night is 7:38 PM.

Sunrise: 6:33 AM. Set: 7:09 PM.

Length of day: 12h 36m. Length of visible light: 13h 34m. Tomorrow will be 3m 05s longer.

Have a blessed day!

Hi Snow, uh, hope he doesn't let go of any body waste!
I enjoy playing Battleship with my youngest Gson, even tho he is mildly Autistic, he beats me, remembers everything. Can't get him to play me at risk anymore.

Hi Midnight, well, we have more than our share of mud, we have what we call an over abundance of Yorktown Top Soil.

The price for regular gas is $2.09 and holding!

Have a good night

Midnight ~ Next it will be when you buy from a certain gas station you will get "extra" points or buy a car they recommend! It must be available to all! How could they even think watching ad videos is the same as posting gas prices?

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

snow, Now #3, what a rip. Did see a post w/the links to those stupid videos. More GB shenanigans. Not fair is an understatement.

happy, Snow today, Mon and Tues. Eventually the warm and the green will begin. We call this the Mud Season. 1 month long on avg.

While it rained on and off yesterday morning, had a fabulous time watching women's MMA bouts on youtube.com. Soon there will not be any matches of female warriors that has not been seen. These women are not sissies. They fight like h*ll to win each minute of each round.

Some rounds are three minutes, yet most are 3 five minute rounds w/a Championship Match being 5 five minute rounds. World Women Bantamweight (135 lb, 61 kg) Champ "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC [Ultimate Fighting Championship]) has signed to fight Brazilian undefeated challenger Bethe Correia (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) in UFC 190’s pay-per-view main event on Aug. 1 in Rio de Janeiro.

Rousey has stated she to wants to embarrass Brazilian Correia in front of the fans in her home country. Makes for plenty of interest to the fans. And a higher gate for the promoters.

Kept hearing gnawing sounds the past few days around the outside dormer in my bdrm. Also heard scratching sounds. Went out during these sounds and saw a squirrel walking the steep slope of the gambrel dormer.

It did its chirping noise to me as a walk closer was done. In a minute it ran under a shingle and inside the outer shell of the dormer. Looked close and saw the creature ate thru my plywood roof, the asphalt shingles, along w/a corner of the natural wood trim.

Was all upset it made a hole thru the bottom side of the dormer and it could heard in the attic. Can only imagine the insulation and framing damage the varmint made.

Saw the rain dripping over the bottom of the hole. At least rain and water are not entering the side roof wall. The bdrm floor is dry so this is not an urgent repair.

Spent the rest of the early afternoon looking up ways to rid the tiny beast and getting a game plan for late April to repair this standing on a ladder. Plan on waiting for it to leave then covering the hole w/a piece of plywood. Then repairing it correctly this summer.

This in hopes that when the warm weather arrives the creature will have another place to live and not gnaw to re-enter the house. Have an access panel just above the bathroom door to enter inside the roof. So the vacation will become work for a day or two.

Temp this morning is 28° (-2°C) with the high to be 33° (1°C).

Snow is expected today. A 40% chance.

Civil twilight is 6:05 AM EST. Night is 7:37 PM.

Sunrise: 6:35 AM. Set: 7:08 PM.

Length of day: 12h 33m. Length of visible light: 13h 31m. Tomorrow will be 3m 05s longer.

Have a tremendous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Thing is other threads were missing my posts and know they were visited and posted. GB has a glitch and bumped abfpat out of the all time 1st and topped him w/Splinter. Unless a mod is playing games.

Snow, Oops fertile, not futile 4:30 can do that. One wild video.

It was quite noticeable the CT River Hwy side of the road edges had melted back 6-8 feet (1.8 to 2.4 meters) since a week ago. None of these roads have breakdown lanes. One just pulls over to get out of the way.

Last night's temp was the first to remain above freezing since last fall. We had 37° (3°C) during the night w/a high of 54° (12°C). The mtn road had tire tracks from vehicles sinking several inched in the gravel as they drove by.

Bought at the mkt were green beans $1.18 a lb, yams 58¢ a lb, limes 4/$1, avocados 88¢ ea, cantaloupes $1.50 ea, and oranges 4/$1. Did mot need much this week. Some of the prices and photos can be found on the Facebook page of Big Papa's Fruit and Produce Mkt.

See that WM medium pitted olives jumped from 98¢ to $1.42. More than a 30% increase. Re-filled my Rx there. Their new red tape saw two signatures, several agreements needed to continue. Told the Pharmacist 5 minutes of paperwork to pay is way to much. This has gotten out of hand. Will go elsewhere w/less checkout work.

Found out by visiting my credit union and speaking to the branch mgr that the collision check the Insur Co sent me was suppose to have been made out to the credit union in care of me, w/the funds released to pay the body shop.

Went to the local body shop to further ask Q's. Even they said when a bank has a lien, they receive the check not me. Asked if this is a criminal or felony offense. The fellow said to call the Insur Co and discuss this issue and not worry. This is not a criminal matter requiring jail time. The check was made out to me. Holy smokes!

Returned home w/light rain falling. Began to watch on Netflix Star Trek: TNG. Became so sleepy that a 3 hour nap was taken. Woke to the phone ringing. It was my good neighbor to the north. He wanted to know the elevation at the bottom of the mtn, his house, at the log cabin and the height of land on the road.

He is taking my advice on hiking the loop road daily w/a distance of 4.25 miles (6.84 km) w/650' (198 meters) of elevation gain. Rain and the afternoon of sleeping kept me inside. Will hike another day.

The temp this morning is 32° (0°C) with the high to be 43° (6°C). Light snow gently falls. Rain this afternoon. Snow tomorrow.

Civil twilight is 6:07 AM EST. Night is 7:36 PM.

Sunrise: 6:36 AM. Set: 7:07 PM.

Length of day: 12h 30m. Length of visible light: 13h 28m. Tomorrow will be 3m 05s longer.

Have a delightful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Did not mean to miss posting. Thought that I did post here yesterday.

My nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away. No cornfields in these mtns have forests. The cornfields are down by the CT River. Flat and futile w/few rocks. Rocks in the mtns are too many to deal with. Home of the granite state and glacier erratics.

Here is the wildest clip of a tour in a bus gone wrong. (:44 sec) Everyone got out in plenty of time.

Yesterday morning's temp was only 3° (-16°C). Would like to say that is the end of it, yet it is not. Saturday night is to be almost as cold.

Slept an hour later than usual and somehow finished my rounds even a few minutes sooner than was normal. Had two slice of pizza for brekky at 3 AM. Then a few hours later has a cup of homemade soup.

Watched some Netflix shows until 6 AM then got dressed for the day. Somehow a splinter in the carpet poked thru my right foot and lodged. Got a hand held mirror, a good twisters and attempted to withdraw it.

My leg does not bend like it did before the total hip replacement surgery. Have trouble placing my rt ankle on my left knee. Tried for an hour to remove the splinter w/o success.

Finally folded thick gauze, cut a small circle out for around the splinter. At 8:30 phoned my PCP and told them of my situation. They made an opening for 11:30. Liked it much.

Waited for just 5 minutes in the waiting room Had lots of callous around the area. He did say he may have to give a local anesthesia and cut out the skin w/a scalpel to get to it.

In the end after only 10 minutes, the doc dug out the splinter w/a few tools. Did feel the probing, no blood, mild pain, no more splinter. A little bit of an alcohol, a bandage, and was out the door.

Too late for a hike and there was soreness from the digging. Ate at Subway. A foot long spicy Italian loaded w/veggies for $6 inc the tax. Have enough points added on my Subway Card for 16 free subs.

May need to have a party this summer to use up some points. 75 points = 1 free footlong. Have 1,200 points.

Yesterday's high temp reached an astounding 52° (11°C) in the afternoon. Will see a warm up this week. Some rain, perhaps more snow, then more springtime in the mtns. The road is a muddy mess w/streams of water flowing down the mtn. All part of spring in the mtns.

Off to Big Papa's Mkt in Littleton later, along w/a few visits to other stores.

The temp this morning is 39° (4°C) with the high to be 50° (10°C). 100% chance of rain is expected this afternoon.

Civil twilight is 6:09 AM EST. Night is 7:35 PM.

Sunrise: 6:38 AM. Set: 7:05 PM.

Length of day: 12h 27m. Length of visible light: 13h 25m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a fantastic day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Had a half cup of soup. No pizza until brekky this morning. It is all in the fridge. Bored so it was cooking time. Ha!

More cold and colder than the forecast. The high just barely touched the teens yesterday at 13° (-11°C). Lows each night are 2 to 4 (-16C). The prediction is after rain on Thursday, the temps will see above freezing on a regular basis. Time will tell.

Tough about the Wicked Awesome w/e Culinary Circle pizzas on sale. At 3/$10 and pies weighing in at 2 pounds, that is worth the splurge. Took the drive in 7° (14-C) to Shaw's.

Bought 2 supreme pizzas and another 2 litre bottle of Mugs root beer. Also bought crumbled feta cheese on sale 8 oz for only $3.99. Returned home and began to cook.

The two pizza's were baking for 23 minutes. The smaller crock pot, on since 9 AM, had been filled w/diced celery, carrots, onions, a tbsp of basil, and some garlic cloves.

Added a diced boneless chicken breast, mushrooms, milled flax seed, spinach, and ¼ cup of grated Romano cheese. Wheat rotini was boiled in the microwave oven to al dente. Then all added together. Had to eat some to make it all fit in the crock pot porcelain container.

Sliced the remaining boneless chicken in half added Mrs Dash, onion and garlic powder and soaked them in a beaten egg. Dropped them in spiced breadcrumbs, packing them well w/ broken oyster crackers and omitting the flour.

Fried them in evoo for about 2-3 minutes a side and added a combo of 5 graded Italian cheeses on the top of the first cooked sides.

Nuked a half pound of baby spinach and some thinly sliced baby bella mushrooms. Opened a can of medium pit-less black olives which were sliced. When the pizzas were cooked, these toppings were added and a handful of shredded cheese was added on top.

The two pizzas were returned inside the cooling off oven for a few minutes until the cheese was melted. Had a slice of pizza, a portion of the chicken cutlet and a cup of fresh made chicken noodle soup.

Late afternoon into the evening saw winds from the west at 15 to 20 mph (24 to 40km/h) with gusts up to 45 mph (72 km/h. Wind chill values as low as 17 below zero (-27C). Sure hope the power remains on in the morning.

The temp is -6° (-21°C) with the high to be 37° (3°C).

Civil twilight is 6:13 AM EST. Night is 7:32 PM.

Sunrise: 6:42 AM. Set: 7:03 PM.

Length of day: 12h 120m. Length of visible light: 13h 19m. Tomorrow will be 3m 05s longer.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Am an old dog w/a sharp eye. Have tried vanilla and vanilla bean ice cream in a root beer float. Have not tried black raspberry, which is in stock, or strawberry yet. Working on both.

These are northern NH prices. Price increased from $32 2 y/o. VB prices are higher.

More cold and colder than the forecast. The high just barely touched the teens at 13° (-11°C). Lows each night are 2 to 4 (-16C). The prediction is after rain on Thursday, the temps will see above freezing on a regular basis. Time will tell.

The temp is 6° (-14°C) with the high to be 21° (-6°C). Light snow falls.

Civil twilight is 6:15 AM EST. Night is 7:31 PM.

Sunrise: 6:44 AM. Set: 7:02 PM.

Length of day: 12h 17m. Length of visible light: 13h 15m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a pleasant day!

Hi Snow, I used to have a push mower like that, without the bike frame!

Have a good week

Midnight, no wonder you are looking for more scenes with Kelli Giddish portraying Det Amanda Rollins, she is a beaut!

Have you tried vanilla ice crème with the Root Beer?

Are you kidding, $34 for PO Box for 6 months?? I have been paying $68 for 6 months for last 4 years!!!

That sounds like a GR8 late night snack!

Enjoy the new week

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

snow, There's a real shotgun wedding. No tat's on the bride. At least that can be seen.

Not buy on the street. Watch for getting mugged on the streets. A friend's son was killed by a stray bullet walking home in NYC. Am sure it weighed heavy.

Saw some of my fave TV Shows on Netflix after my posts yesterday morning. Really liking the script writings of Season 13 of Law & Order: SVU. Looking forward to the remaining three seasons with Kelli Giddish portraying Det Amanda Rollins in more scenes. The current cast has developed a tremendous rapport with the other members.

Another hour of the epic movie "Interstellar" was seen which is 2 hrs 49 min in total. Will see it in three shifts. 3 hours is much too long to be sitting down watching one movie. Thought of checking my mail and visiting Shaw's, which was done.

Bought some Mugs root beer for 88¢ for 2 litres, mainly since it was on sale and one rec'd two Monopoly tix. My game sheet it is mostly filled of each of the tix needed to win except the last ones. Naturally.

Did get a two fer instant win tix twice. Two extra games tix for the purchase and found three more left on the bank counter.

Stopped at the PO to pay my $34 for 6 months rent having a box. Returned home to finish the last thawed pork sirloin roast ground into burger w/a side of cooked red bell peppers, onions, and baby bella mushrooms. Added some Mrs Dash and 6 Italian shredded cheese for dinner.

Rain was forecast as a 50% chance in the afternoon. Saw hours of sun before overcast arrived. The evening's forecast into this morning is up to 3" of snow. Also with strong winds. This can always mean a power outage.

Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph (24 to 40km/h) with gusts up to 45 mph (72 km/h). Wind chill values as low as 16 below (-27C).

Strong wind advisory until 8 PM EDT this evening

The temp is 21° (-6°C) dropping to 15° (-9°C). Light snow falls.

Civil twilight is 6:17 AM EST. Night is 7:29 PM.

Sunrise: 6:50 AM. Set: 7:00 PM.

Length of day: 12h 14m. Length of visible light: 13h 12m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a splendid day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

The world revolves on trash talk and one is gonna whop a world Champion.

Several post have contained the formula for window ice preventer. One part water, three parts vinegar. When temps are below freezing, add two parts isopropyl alcohol. In summer add 3 cups of vinegar to the washer reservoir. Makes bugs hardly stick and easier to remove.

Watch out for those sly hustlers and ripoffs in the Big Apple. Some think it beats working. Negotiable endlessly to lower prices.

Another morning that beat the temp predictions. We saw -9° (-23°C) in this area yesterday. Even broke the 2007 -4°F (-20°C) record. Light snow tonight, then more cold for 3 more days. Know that in a week the mtns will soak in the sun, warm up, and begin its snow melt.

My mail in banking was cleared in the Boston checking account. Needed to pay for the final two kero 5 gallon cans put on Lowe's credit card last month. They offer 5% off list price and no interest if paid in 30 days. Helps my FICO Score and it uses their money for up to 40 days.

Walked the inside perimeter of the store 3x just for the exercise. Lots of strangers said hello. Think my ball team t and jacket helped break down the wall. Many associated of the store asked me in mid steps if they could help me.

"Just looking and getting some exercise in the store," was my answer. Did peak at lots of construction products. Lots of new items on the market. Also the prices are at least dbl what they were when last working w/the tools.

Paid off the balance, spoke to the lady that runs the outdoor (Flower Dept), then drove to Shaw's. Shaw's was filled well w/customers. Would say many are doing their weekly shopping and getting a few extras for this w/e's mini snow storm.

Bought some Mugs Root Beer that offers an extra Monopoly game ticket, no fat cottage cheese on sale for $1.99 a lb that is $2.02 everyday in WM, and bought one pleasing 33 oz Culinary Cuisine supreme pizza for $3.34.

Also had a the so called instant winner Monopoly ticket that gave me two more game tickets. Know this over "$80,000,000 in prizes" nat'l game is a come on, yet it is true, if one does not play, one can not win.

Did some shopping at Big Papa's Produce Mkt while driving by the pace. It was also nicely jammed w/customers. Bought some asparagus for $1.88 a lb, broccoli crowns for $1.59 a lb, and a pound of spinach for $3.

Hightailed it home to bake the pizza. Cooked spinach and baby bella mushrooms in the microwave. Jazzed up the pizza w/these two topping then added a generous handful of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

Had a ¼ of the pizza and a hearty slice of coconut three layer cake for dessert. No ice cream was added. Want to save that for a more appropriate moment. A root beer float come to mind.

The temp is 16° (-8°C). The high is to be 43° (6°C).

Civil twilight is 6:20 AM EST. Night is 7:27 PM.

Sunrise: 6:49 AM. Set: 6:58 PM.

Length of day: 12h 08m. Length of visible light: 13h 06m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a tremendous day!

Have a good weekend. Been looking at dates and hotels in NY. Want to go to the 911 memorial. I am getting very sleepy

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Ali has Parkerson's Disease. We know that all those big blows to the head killed plenty of neurons. His daughter Layla wants to fights the World Champ MMA gal. Thing is Layla does not even know MMA. Talk the Talk.

Watched more fights from the late 80's and early 90's. There were several shining stars at that time. They fought the way one is supposed to hit 'em and hit 'em again. Not hit and hold tactics.

Yesterday morning's temp exceeded the low of 6° (-14°C) the forecast predicted. It was -5° (-21°C) at 7 AM just as the drive to Littleton was made to Big Papa's Mkt and a few of the other stores.

Thankfully the homemade windshield solution made all winter worked perfectly to prevent any frost on the windows of the car. Did not it freezes solid at 33 below zero. It does well down to about 20 below.

Bought at the market price of each week were giant cantaloupes $1.75 ea, minneolas 3/$2, asparagus $1.88 a lb, cukes 60¢, Blackberries half pints (5.6 oz) $2, baby bella 10 oz pks for $2.25, green leaf lettuce for $1.38, and garlic, 5 bulbs for $1.50.

This w/e prices at Big Papa's Mkt are found here. Click on "See more..." for some of this week's prices.

Bought a couple items at WM. Best price was the Great value brand 1 lb box of corn starch. Went net door to Shaw's for A Pepperidge Farm Coconut cake for $3.34, friendly's Black Raspberry Ice Cream $2.50 of 1.5 quarts (1.42 litres), and point cut corned beef brisket, last day at $1.97 a lb.

Visited my Credit Union and had a check drafted for my propane delivery on Mar 13. Drive home to drop off the groceries purchased and to try a slice of the great Coconut cake. It just as remembered... and even more fabulous w/2 scoops of black raspberry ice cream.

Stopped at my Lancaster P.O. for almost a weeks worth of mail, went to Shaw's to buy linguine on sale @ 88¢ a lb, really to get another monopoly game piece. Figure that if one doesn't play, one can not win.

Then went in the propane co's office. Walked to the office mgr and said," I'm here to negotiate your surrender," w/a straight face. Explained there is a discrepancy on the computer generated ticket cost per gallon and that the driver crossed it out and juiced it.

Used police interrogation techniques to wear out the fellow by asking as many Q's as possible and repeating the same Q's by asking them just a little bit different. Several times.

He was extra nice and attentive, especially after several of the trade's nomenclature was used. Wanted him to realize that crossing out the ticket cost is completely unacceptable, and knew the ins and out of terms such as "bsl," which is base sub level, the annual amount of product used in 1 year that determines what customers pay.

In the end he offered me 11¢ a gallon less than the home office quoted me last Friday. Saved $17 which was asked for a check refund, not a credit on my account for 7-8 months. For me it always pays to Q the price and ask for a lower cost.

Returned home to watch Hector "Macho" Camacho fight "Sugar" Ray Leonard in a 15 round fabulous boxing match. Then saw Leonard fight "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler for the Middle Weight Championship of the World (9:27) at Caesars Palace on the 16th of April in 1987. Non stop boxing action for 15 amazing rounds.

The temp is -6° (-21°C). The high is to be 25° (-4°C).

Civil twilight is 6:20 AM EST. Night is 7:27 PM.

Sunrise: 6:49 AM. Set: 6:58 PM.

Length of day: 12h 08m. Length of visible light: 13h 06m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a delightful day!

Hi again Midnight, Daughter called, was on way home and thought she would stop by. At least she calls. Haven't seen her since 5th of February. Am watching Sugar Ray & Tommy Hearns. Sugar reminds me of Ali floating like a butterfly and stings like bee. Ali was the best, shame how he has gone down. Forgot what he has. Going to watch the rest of the bout, unless I fall asleep.

Enjoy the first day of spring.

Good evening Snow, we had 10 inches in February. My 2 daughters and wife's daughter called us and told us not to come home, it was going to snow. So, we enjoyed 4 more days in Sunny Florida.

Well, looks like the best thing they can do at that time! Guess I fail the test, can read only 1st 2 lines.

have a great first day of SPRING!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

That is 120k x3 = $360 grand for 3 bouts in the past 365 days totaling 96 minutes. Nice to have an easy few paydays. Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey, the 28 y/o former Olympic Judo Champion,

Got very antsy late yesterday morning. Bundled up w/three layers of clothes and ventured outside. The temp was 12° (-11°C). The wind was a bitter 19.6 mph (31.5 km/h). The wind chill was down to 1° (-17°C).

My cheeks felt like pins were striking it as the steady NW wind cut right through my face at noontime. To have to return to my house for a face mask on a mid March would be to accept defeat and remain inside.

Walked south, up the mountain road, in the fresh fallen snow of the past two days. Waves of snow ripped off the banks of the road from one side to another. Tiny snow drifts accumulated quickly.

The tall trees were now bare of there former coats of snow. The powerful wind stripping them, making several creep and dance in the wind. Some trees gave off loud cracks as the strong wind tested there strength.

Three crows flew overhead and soared playfully using the winds to guide them. It seemed they took advantage of not needing motion to fly. Just go w/the flow — to follow the wind wherever it took them.

My face was feeling like it was burning from the steady bitter wind as the custom log cabin was reached. The wind howled, the trees rocked, and the snow flew intensely like a raging blizzard.

Turned around and headed home. Surely there will be many better days to enjoy a walk than fight the elements. A mere mile, maybe 100 ft of elevation gain, yet getting into the spirit of being outside.

Saw Mike Tyson's final fight where he was TKO'ed at the end of the 6th round and did not answer the bell for the 7th. In his interview he admitted he lost the desire to fight alonmg w/his animal instyinct he once had. It was just a payday to him.

After watching 2 & 3 pinches and Tyson holding on, it was close to pitiful. Saw the exciting Tommy Hearns vs Sugar Ray Leonard battle for the undisputed Welterweight Championship of the World (full fight 57:27. Rd 6 turns the tide. Leonard has a 14th Rd TKO) on Sept 16, 1981.

Sugar Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hearns II . 15 Rd highlights (8:22) Total war. 1989 Fight of the year.

These men were true boxing warriers. They traded hard hitting, meaningful punches throughout the bout. Like a real boxing match should always be.

Then watched some Twilight Zone, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, The Andy Griffin Show (Mayberry!), and Everyone Loves Raymond.

Will be heading to Littleton to buy some deals at the mkt and shop at other stores.

The temp is 7° (-14°C). The high is to be 24° (-4°C).

Civil twilight is 6:22 AM EST. Night is 7:26 PM.

Sunrise: 6:51 AM. Set: 6:57 PM.

Length of day: 12h 05m. Length of visible light: 13h 03m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a fantastic day!

Whoppers went from $2.39 to $4.79. Not close to a Subway sub for the money. Yet the BK dipping sauce should be bottled and sold. May God bless your grandson w/extra care and gifts.

It snowed much of the day. Stayed and watched my fave TV shows on Netflix. Looked out the window often to see at times heavy snow falling. The mountains do offer beautiful winter scenes.

Since learning Kempo for years and fighting in the ring in L.A. when living there, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) continues to fascinate me.

Saw a just a new posted MMA bout Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Juliana Lima on youtube.

Then found (Ultimate Fighting Championship) UFC 185: A mixed martial arts event held on March 14, 2015 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

MMA is a full-contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground.

A MMA competition or exhibition may be held in a ring or a fenced area. The fenced area can be round or have at least six sides. The fenced area is called a cage generically, or a hexagon, an octagon or an octagon cage, depending on the shape.

A view of inside "The Octagon". 8.8 million viewers see MMA bouts just on the Fox Network

April 30, 2011, saw UFC 129 set a new North American MMA attendance record, drawing 55,724 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto; the event also set a new MMA world record for the highest paid gate at $12,075,000[42] and is the highest gate in Toronto for any event.
As of March 2015, there are 37 countries that are members of MMA International. Women in mixed martial arts bouts are extremely popular. Female fighters and personalities such as Megumi Fujii, Miesha Tate, Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, Ronda Rousey, and Gina Carano are currently the most popular .

Current MMA Champ Ronda Rousey stopped Cat Zingano during UFC 184 on Feb. 28, 2015, in Los Angeles World Champion Match with an acrobatic arm bar 14 seconds into the first round.

[L=http://tinyurl.com/knwovg4]Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey, the 28 y/o former Oylmpic Judo Champion, is the most dominant female fighter to ever compete in the realm of combat sports. She pulls in $120,000 a bout (in July 2014) $60,000 to show, $60,000 to win. Not too bad for 96 seconds of work in her combined last 3 bouts. She remains undefeated at 11–0.

Snow accumulated here yesterday 2.5 inches. No need to clear it.

The temp is 14° (-10°C). The high is to be 19° (-7°C).

Hi Snow, at least he has some nice equipment!

Our whole yard is soggy. Covered some tire tracks, about 2-3 inches deep, yesterday. Did get my trailer under the shed today.

Had a good day, thanks. You have a HHD.

Hi Midnight, same to you, a happy group of kids there.

I remember Rain Man, good flick! Grandson is mild autistic. Am amazed how smart he is for 12 years old and Autistic.

I agree with you on the useless use of the F word, and others.

Going to have to go to Burger King and try the rings and their horseradish dipping sauce. I used to go to BK at least once a week for whopper.

Have a HHD.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Have never fallen asleep during a movie. Take a nap first. Sharing my 0.5° and lots of snow w/you ; )

Yesterday morning's low was 0.5°F (-17.5°C). Saw at sunrise the world was pure white. It truly is beautiful with pine, spruce, and balsam fir trees a sap green covered wonderfully in a blanket of snow. The snow feels so much nicer on a warm, sunny winter day.

Saw Rain Man (1988) Rated R, 133 min drama with brilliant performances by Dustin Hoffman as Raymond Babbitt and Tom Cruise as Charlie Babbitt. An astounding movie that brings the viewer into the depths of autism.

Charlie, a self-centered Los Angeles based automobile dealer/hustler/bookie learns his rich father has died.

Raymond, Charlie's unknown brother, is an autistic savant who lives in a world of his own and resides at an institution. After they meet, Charlie kidnaps Raymond and decides to take him on a lust for life trip as a threat to get the $3 Million inheritance.

Behind the scenes were four directors, six screenwriters, two cinematographers, eight producers, writers strikes, a crew change, and a studio fighting for its life.

A shame so many unnecessary F words are used, otherwise Rain Man (1:33m trailer) is an incredible eye opener that is deeply moving. 5/5 stars.

When the temp reached 23° (-5°C) yesterday it was time to bundle up, go outside and clear the 4" of new fallen snow. Otherwise it would quickly turn into ice w/the coming spring thaw/freeze cycle.

Skirted the air space between the house and the built up snow bank with snow from the Ariens Sno Thro. Removed the berm a foot tall at the end of the drive. An hour later all was completed and time to drive to Littleton.

Went to my Credit Union and transferred savings into my checking account in Boston, visited my pal at Rite Aid, and stopped to get some deals at Shaw's. The finest deal, other than the continuing corned beef for $1.97 a lb. is evoo (extra virgin olive oil) for $9.99 for two litres (2 quarts 4 oz ) in the $21 a gallon range.

Ate a bacon clubhouse burger at McD's for $5.23 w/tax for lunch then went to BK for onion rings. Been years since having any. Their horseradish dipping sauce is a must. It was as nice as remembered.

Snow showers likely. Snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches.

The temp is 25° (-4°C). The high is to be 38° (3°C).

Civil twilight is 6:26 AM EST. Night is 7:23 PM.

Sunrise: 6:55 AM. Set: 6:54 PM.

Length of day: 11h 59m. Length of visible light: 12h 57m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Agree w/that awful minced meat. Pi Day. Tho celebrating for a week sure is not bad.

Woke up to light snow falling yesterday. Then saw it after first light. It snowed all day long into the night. My window boxes have at least 4 inches as this is typed. Will use the snow thrower to clean up the snow later.

Watched all my fave TV shows on Netflix, then turned my attention to heavy weight boxing. Enjoyed watching the fights that Mike Tyson lost. Six of them. My faves are the Buster Douglas KO and Lennox Lewis crushing "Iron Mike" in both bouts.

Tyson had a TKO changed to a No Contest match after Tyson hit Orlin Norris after the bell. Also Tyson's TKO win over Andrew Golota was changed to a No Contest after Tyson tested positive for cannabis in the post-fight drug test.

This after Evander Holyfield beat him twice in 7 month and Tyson resorted to the two infamous ear bites. Saw lots of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) bouts of the current famous women and champs of today. Was in the ring kickboxing for 5 years in LA.

Visited the website of NECN.com (New England Cable News) a regional 24-hour cable news television network very similar to CNN in structure and style, but focuses more on regional news.

NECN had the live broadcast of Boston's St Patrick's Day Parade. It is a 2 mile long parade that takes 2 hours with 600,000 to 1 million spectators lining the streets watching from Broadway in the South Boston's section. It is the 2nd largest St Paddy's day parade in America.

Locally known as "Southie", the parade route was turned into a green scene w/a backdrop of snow up to 7' tall. Light rain did not dampen the spirit of the crowd. A fact learned was there are 34 million Irish descendents in America, 4x more that in Ireland.

Seen were bulldogs wearing green sweaters, the duckboats, Fire Depts, Unions, Pipes and drum corps, Marching bands, pirates, Minute Men, Jazz band, dancers, sailors from the USS Constitution "Old Ironsides", the Governor, State Senators, State Reps, the Mayor, the young and the elderly were in the annual parade of 114 years.

And the Murray family were riding their unicycles and special custom bicycles with several dozen Irish Setters near the end of the parade. The Boston Saint Patrick's Day Parade is a true harbinger of the coming Spring.

Total new snow yesterday was 6" in my area. Now to clear it,

The temp is 13° (-25°C). The high is to be 41° (5°C).

Civil twilight is 6:28 AM EST. Night is 7:22 PM.

Sunrise: 6:57 AM. Set: 6:53 PM.

Length of day: 11h 57m. Length of visible light: 12h 53m. Tomorrow will be 3m 06s longer.

Have a pleasant day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Want to see that movie and Rain Man. Both have excellent reviews. Got cha on the pi r round.

My RV had a built in propane tank. Was lucky getting it filled at low prices at the time. Know lots of cg's what an arm and leg.

Spring is now in 5 days. Easter in 21. Hurray!

Enjoyed sharing Pi site. Many wrote to say they enjoyed it and that they forgot or did not know it was Pi day. In the snow covered forest one needs many diversion to escape from cabin fever.

One of mine is road walks. Plan to return to them asap. Another is a 30 minute drive. Traveled back to Whitefield to see if there were any Saturday morning markdowns.

The late meat cutter had a fabulous habit of lowering meat and fish that was not sold during the week. Nothing like a $4 steak or fish that he was famous for underpricing the markdowns.

Did get a 2.5 lb chicken breast for $1.49 a lb and an 8" x 10" ham steak for a great $1.69 a pound. Very difficult to walk away from their low prices. Little room in the freezer for anything else.

Returned to the Shaw's in Lancaster and shopped for their Wicked Awesome w/e specials> Got some more corned beef for $1..97 a lb and southern style pork spare ribs for an incredible $1.49 a lb.

Returned home to trim the fat of the spare ribs and cook them w/carrots. 2.5 hours later, broccoli florets and 3 sliced onions were added. This crock pot was done in 3.5 hours w/the broccoli cooked nicely al dente.

While the above was cooking. A stock pot was simmering w/the nearly 4 lb corned beef. Twice the water was changed and simmered. Then cut it into 4 pieces to add it t the smaller 1.5 qt crook pot cooked submerged in water.

Am leaving the fat on for taste and easily scraping it off after cooking on high for at least 6 hours on high. Have had very good luck w/the tenderness and salt free taste.

Still have tender pork meatballs and 1" sausage cubes and chicken remaining from earlier in the week. Like sour cream or cream cheese added on top.

Having been overbuying the past few weeks. Also have 8 chicken drumettes on top of the outside fridge buried in the snow. Still frozen and safe from the animals. Seeing lots of fresh tracks on the sides of the driveway.

Our snow begin at 1:15 PM and falling very slow. Expect tops 4- 8 inches by tomorrow afternoon. Not a problem at all. Happy the temps are in the 20's at night and now the high 30's and 40s in the day.

Am told the sugar maple sap is now running in this area. Soon it will smell like Spring when the balsam fir thaw and their fragrance permeates the fresh air. Then the roar of the brooks will heard echoing thru the forest during ice out.

The temp is 31° (-0.5°C). The high is to be 33° (0.5°C).

Winter Storm Warning in effect until 5 PM EDT this afternoon. See 2" of snow in the window flower boxes.

Civil twilight is 6:30 AM EST. Night is 7:21 PM.

Sunrise: 6:59 AM. Set: 6:52 PM.

Length of day: 11h 52m. Length of visible light: 12h 50m. Tomorrow will be 3m 07s longer.

Have a splendid day!

I ♥ Life

Hi Doc, and a happy one to you
rainy day here, but that beats the snowy one!

Hi Midnight, thanks for pointing 3.1415 out. Would not have caught it! Oh, one other thing, Pie R Square is incorrect, Pie R Round! :>))
When we were in Florida, found that one of my 30# tanks was out. Campground wanted $3.50 per gallon and found that Costco Propane was going for $1.65 per gallon, I think it was.

Have a good night, on the 6th day, it will be SPRING!!
