Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

happy, snow never lasts in the Spring. It is to remind you of the winter and to enjoy the summer to the max.

snow, Have to get me one of those. ; )

Rec'd 2 inches of snow on my Dart Wednesday morning. In the valley below the most snow seen was 1.5 inches. Not anywhere near a storm by northern New England standards. The low here was +17° (-8°C) w/the high 42° (6°C).

Sure is 60 and 70 (16-22C) degrees warmer than much of February. Even the sun greeted the North Country. A fantastic day. Outlook is for more above freezing days this w/e and into next week.

Fired up the Ariens Sno Thro and skirted the house. There was a 3" melt space between the snow bank mounded against the house. Took my time and filled it in with blowing snow.

Then cleaned the drive paying more attention to the foot where a berm has been since the last snow event a few days ago. Spent extra time widening the drive. Soon the snow with begin to melt and freeze each night.

The road was unplowed when first cleaning the drive. Then the town plowed it going down the mtn and then on the up side, Nice and wide into both sides of the ditches.

Decided to go for a ride to Whitefield, NH. Spent 90 minutes clearing the drive widening it and the walkway. When getting out of the car my legs were sore and tight from the walking earlier. Will need to build up my legs to enjoy some walks, then gradually some hikes.

Wanted a chicken breast for cutlets. Also wanted to get out of the house for a pleasant drive and see some views. Found single split (bone in) chicken breasts at Mac's Mkt to be huge and only $1.49 a lb.

Then grabbed some immensely pink ground pork for just $1.99. Difficult to pass on these two bargains. My pal had just left to cover the meat dept at the Franconia NH store. A distance of 18 Miles / 28 Km.

Returned home for a pork burger smothered in baby bella mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers. Added some thick cheddar cheese to the lean, juicy pork burger, then sat in front of the TV to watch the second season of the original Mission Impossible ATV show.

Prefer Jim Phelps (Peter Graves) as the team leader. The original TV series ran from September 1966 to March 1973, then returned to television for two seasons on ABC, from 1988 to 1990.

Lenard Nimoy was a regular on that show for two years (1969-1971) featured as the Great Paris in 49 episodes.

Nimoy played Spock in 79 episodes in the original Star Trek TV series (1967-1969) and was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

The air temp is 25° (-4°C). The temp is to be drop to 17° (-8°C) this afternoon, then the deep freeze, -16° (-31°C) overnight into Friday.

Civil twilight is 5:48 AM EST. Night is 6:08 PM.

Sunrise: 6:17 AM. Set: 5:39 PM.

Length of day: 11h 22m. Length of visible light: 12h 20m. Tomorrow will be 3m 04s longer.

Will visit Big Papa's Mkt later and a few other stores.

Have a fantastic day!

Snow, we got 8 to 10 inches, so I was told.

That is an expensive porch!

Hi Midnight, they are calling for snow here tonight too. On top of snow partly melted.
Come on spring!

Stay warm, but don't overdo it!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

New initials for me. Granite is abundant here so crushed stone into stone dust is out hard pack. Takes even floods superbly.

Woke up at 1:30 AM Tuesday and saw the temp was falling below zero quickly. Lit the kero heater and warmed the house while my early morning rounds were completed.

Always a pleasing feeling to be so warm the window in front of me needs to be opened. Especially when the outside temp is -9° (-23°C).

Enjoyed watching my fave shows on Netflix. Got to see more of the movie Interstellar. Hope to put my nose to the grindstone and finish it one day soon.

When the temp was into the 20 late morning, a collection of the recyclables was gathered and brought to the town's Recycling Center. Lots of folks were zipping in and getting rid of their accumulations.

Returned home to makes more chicken noodle (w/linguine) soup w/the emphasis on the celery and carrots. Added a giant couple of hand fills of diced spinach to the works. Need to thaw out some chicken to add latter.

While getting the soup made the last thawed chicken breasts were sliced a ½" thick, dipped into eggs, then soaked in bread crumbs w/Parmesan cheese, garlic and some minced onion. One side is fried in evoo, then flipped w/ 6 Italian cheese added and cooked spinach.

Temp was good for a walk, yet all the cooking killed more time than expected. It became time to finish my afternoon posts. The sky turned gray/white at 1 PM w/a snow event overnight into this morning. 3-5" is expected by sun up.

The air temp is 25° (-4°C). The high is to be 39° (4°C).

Civil twilight is 5:49 AM EST. Night is 6:06 PM.

Sunrise: 6:18 AM. Set: 5:37 PM.

Length of day: 11h 18m. Length of visible light: 12h 17m. Tomorrow will be 3m 04s longer.

Have a fabulous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Good to fix the C & R. Means what to the rest of us?

Rec'd 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) of snow overnight yesterday. The highest total in the state was 3" (7 cm). Would not even call it a snowstorm. Left at 9 AM for a ride south on US Rt 3 to Whitefield, NH.

Wanted to see the pretty snow cover tree branches before the temps near freezing and the winds cleared the snow from them.

Stopped to say hello to my pal the meat mgr. Looked at a few chuck steaks and passed. He told me corned beef was going to be on sale for $2.99 a lb Friday for the special of the week along with pork sirloin mini roasts for a $1.99 a lb.

Plan on getting a few of the corned beef for some crock pot meals and to make excellent corned beef hash for brekky. Will have him grind up the 98% lean pork sirloin roasts for healthy burgers, meatballs, and some meatloaf.

Passed on stopping in Shaw's to buy something just for a Monopoly ticket. Bought gas that has increased to $2.26 a gallon. Then went into the PO to open a weeks worth of mail and write checks for utilities and bills last month.

Winds were picking up strong from the Northwest in the aftrernoon. Overnight will see 15 to 20 mph steady winds. Always am worried w/ the wind causing blowdowns and shutting off the power.

Do have enough kero for two nights of extra comfortable heat w/the space heater. Sure hope after Friday morning that will be the end of the deep freeze this winter.

February was expensive with lots of kerosene purchased. Bitter cold, just like the temps seen each winter 20+ y/a.

The air temp is only 1° (-17°C). The high is to be 26° (-3°C).

Civil twilight is 5:51 AM EST. Night is 6:05 PM.

Sunrise: 6:20 AM. Set: 5:36 PM.

Length of day: 11h 15m. Length of visible light: 12h 14m. Tomorrow will be 3m 04s longer.

Have a wonderful day!

We got home from Florida last night after 2 long days driving. We went 2351 miles from when we left until we got home. That was a lot of diesel used. Had lots of snow in my yard and driveway was a mess. Some one scraped it for me, but went too low and took a lot of C & R out, now mud holes.

Snow, yep, think he is a red neck! Did I ever put up the horseshoe picture frames?

Have a good night.

Midnight, thanks, will try to catch a few episodes, when I catch up. Like that kind of program.

Our day was sunny and warm, now all the melting snow is frozen over!

Have to get tractor out tomorrow

Have a good day tomorrow

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

No minus temps today. Will see that tonight and Thursday overnight. Hope that is the end of below zero temps. Have had enough.

Find that Law and Order is a Great Show. Worth a look. Sea 1-12 is now done with on Netflix. Sea 13-15 is excellent. Superb script writing

Slept nicely and Woke up at 2 AM Sunday morning. The second floor was a bit on the chilly side. Looked on the net for the temps outdoors. It was -11° (-24°C) at 2 AM.

Lit the kero heater on the first floor and warmed up some homemade chicken noodle soup. A quick care free brekky w. few calories and lots of health. In 15 minutes the house was heating up rapidly and the thermostat set at 70° (21°C) no longer fired up the propane wall heater.

Returned upstairs to complete my early morning rounds It was a bit later than usual, yet finished as early as was normal. Checked out the putlocker.is site and discovered the new domain is now called Watchfree.to.

They have the same format as before w/ lots of movies and TV shows to view for free. Was going to watch Safe (2012), Instead began to watch "Interstellar" (2014) w/ no less than 22 links of partners.

Some want one to sign up w/their e-mail. Canned those sign ups for several that allow instant streaming, no questions asked. Saw a ⅓ of the whopping 2hr 43 min movie "Interstellar," then paused Interstellar to travel to the grocery store.

The Lancaster Shaw's was quite busy for 11 AM on a Sunday morning. Looked over steaks and decided against one for a birthday lunch. Wanted a Rising crust DiGiorno Supreme pizza, 32 oz on sale for $3.99, this w/e only.

The store had sold out, so a rain check was rec'd. Did buy some real nice asparagus on sale for the week for a low (for here) $1.77 a lb. Nothing else was wanted. Passed on the 1 lb raw 50-70 shrimp for $5.99.

Also passed on the fatty chuck roasts for $2.99 a lb and the other W/e only sale items.

Was not hungry enough for a 6 or footlong sub at Subway so a rare visit was made to MdD's for a bacon clubhouse burger for $4.79, $5.22 w/tax. No Mac sauce or salt both which are laced w/ MSG was ordered. Sort of a small birthday treat for me.

Looking forward to a warmer night in the teens (-8ºC) and an inch of snow in the morning. Revised from 3-4" just one day ago. Thursday overnight should be the last bitter cold night of the winter. Please.

The air temp is 19° (-7°C). The high is to be 33° (1°C).

Civil twilight is 5:53 AM EST. Night is 6:04 PM.

Sunrise: 6:22 AM. Set: 5:35 PM.

Length of day: 11h 12m. Length of visible light: 12h 11m. Tomorrow will be 3m 03s longer.

Have a pleasant day!

Good morning Snow

That is funny, but, you can get in trouble with child abuse people if your kid knows how to call them to get even with you! :>)))

Will have a relaxing day, sitting behind the sterring wheel hauling me and the trailer home! Only about 3 more hours to home. Found a good campground, great internet connection, free!
Hate going back to the cold!
Enjoy your day

Good morning Midnight, our morning temp is also 32 degrees, but without the ( - )!!
I like the Twilite Zone and Criminal Minds. Have not watched Law and Order.

Opps, have to be out by 11am and wife just told me it is 10:30. CU L8R.

Stay warm and enjoy Netflix

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Tweaking the formula. Like an experiment. Also enjoy taste testing.

Glad you enjoyed your trip and a nap. Used to not be able to sleep during the day. Really liking it lately.

The low Saturday morning saw the still air temp reach 24.8° below zero (-32C). Had the kero heater on since 5PM the day before. What a pleasant feeling waking up to t-shirt temps in the hose this w/the bdrm window open 3 inches.

Finished my rounds earlier than usual, played a multi player game of StarCraft, its been 10 days since my last, then took a needed nap. The feeling of heavy eyes was overwhelming. The 90 minute nap my all the difference.

Saw an original The Twilight Zone epi, Criminal Minds, Law and Order while the sun did its thing by heating up the North Country. In no time the temp reached 4 above. Cold to you, warm for a winter day in this area

Passed on a run to the Recycling Center for a few things wanted in Littleton. Needed some 26 oz cans of Cream of Chicken condensed soup that Shaw's was out of for two weeks.

Visited my pal the store mgr of Rite Aid to get some cases of Bouble Bag strong ale from the Long Trail Brewery in Woodstock, VT. Also wanted a can of french vanilla coffee, in between homemade chicken noodle soup on our cold days.

Returned to Big Papa's Mket for broccoli crowns $1.25 a head, a few bananas foe 38¢ a lb, and got a deal on 14 10 oz pkgs of oatmeal raisin cookies for 75¢ each Teir reg low price was a $1 ea on Thurs. Liked them and wanted a stock for the house.

Stopped at the Gold House for a large steak bomb w/provolone, still just $8.06 w/tax. Few others can even touch a large steak and cheese for so little cost.

Spun by Mac's Mkt in Whitefield to get a few 6 Italian shredded cheese pkgs, 8 oz for $2.69. Spoke to my pal the meat mgr before he was through work for the day.

The air temp is -15° (-26°C). Warm w/the kero heater lit at 1:45 AM. The high is to be 30° (-1°C) in the northern NH mtns.

Civil twilight is 5:54 AM EST. Night is 6:03 PM.

Sunrise: 6:24 AM. Set: 5:33 PM.

Length of day: 11h 09m. Length of visible light: 12h 08m. Tomorrow will be 3m 03s longer.

Have a splendid day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Drinkin' no dbl truckin'.

It was -17° (-27°C) for the low temp yesterday morning. Lasted from 6 AM until 8:30. Then slow to warm up. The temp was 4 degrees warmer on Mt Washington. Had the kero heater on at 4 PM on Thursday. Needed to open my bdrm window to allow cold air to regulate the room temp.

Another clear night will see even colder temps. 16 to 22 below zero (to -30°C) are expected. The wind chill is meaningless in these mtns. Unless one is outdoors.

Made some spinach stuffed chicken breast w/o the bacon in the morning. getting to be good at tweaking these two new recipe. Tried one a touch of mayo, spinach and feta cheese.

The other had ricotta and Parmesan w/the spinach mix. Both are very excellent. Would depend on the mood one is in. Have to wonder what a little tomato sauce or bruschetta would do to the taste. Did forgo the turkey bacon making these.

Played w/a recipe for pork chp gravy w/lt soy, brown sugar, cornstarch, apple juice, and ground ginger. Made a few tiny batches w/diff combo. Not a big hit to me like Tuscan sauce or even BBQ sauce.

Enjoyed watching some Netflix TV shows. Rec'd a mid afternoon phone call from the auto body shop. They want me at 8 Am Monday Yet will not have a car to loan until after 9.

Need to be somewhere by 9:30 AM so they are searching for a loaner. They also added another 24 hours to repair the car due to painting it. Now a two day job for paint and install a small applique panel to the front bumper cover.

Sounds like a lot of baloney to me. May go elsewhere in a week or even two. They do not work Saturdays.

Lit the kero heater just before 5 PM to have the house hot overnight. It sure is even w/the bdrm window open 4 inches top and bottom.

The air temp is -18° (-28°C) and dropping like a rock. Expect -24° (-31°C) this morning by 7 AM. The high is to be 22° (-6°C).

Civil twilight is 5:56 AM EST. Night is 6:01 PM.

Sunrise: 6:25 AM. Set: 5:32 PM.

Length of day: 11h 06m. Length of visible light: 12h 05m. Tomorrow will be 3m 03s longer.

Have a tremendous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Log splitters are King. Best for low back pain. Agree on McD's. Plus it's all fillers and chemicals.

Got up at 1:30 AM yesterday morning. The wall thermostat is set for 68° (20°C) and that was the temp of the house. Still felt on the chilly side for a few hours. Finally went downstairs when the temp was below zero and lit the kero heater.

Just before sunrise the temp reached -7°F (-22°C). That was nearly 10 degrees warmer than the forecast (-25°C). In an hour the kero heater was so hot from the heat rising to the second floor that the bdrm window needed to be open.

There is no low or medium setting on the portable heater. It is either on burning efficiently or gives of soot or odor when not fully turned on (meaning burning not efficiently). One regulates the heat by the windows being open.

We are talking below zero temps outside. Have the wall furnace for the warmer temps. Turned off the heater before leaving for the morning.

Left early to drive to Littleton. Few venture out during below zero temps unless there is a reason. Bought a few deals at the mkt. Yams are 58¢ a lb, cukes 60¢ ea, 10 oz of baby bella are $2.25, leaf lettuce was $1.50, 1 lb of baby spinach $3, cantaloupes $1.50 ea, and celery $1.34 a bunch.

Also went for the special deal of nice and soft oatmeal raisin cookies 10 oz for a dollar. No carrageenan and minimal MSG. The store owner routinely buys a pallet deal for cheap money and passes on the savings to his customers.

Have purchased brilliant LED mini flashlights, bruschetta, evoo and the like for short money. Some of this weeks three days of deal are found here at the Big Papa's Mkt Facebook page.

Bought at WM were two 15 oz containers of Ricotta Cheese for $1.94 ea. Want to experiment with the stuffed chicken breasts further and perhaps make more crock pot lasagna.

The kero heater was lit just before 4 PM to have the house hot when the temp drops overnight. Love to feel the extra heat at night and when waking up.

The air temp is -11° (-24°C). The high is to be 16° (-9°C).

Civil twilight is 5:58 AM EST. Night is 6:00 PM.

Sunrise: 6:27 AM. Set: 5:31 PM.

Length of day: 11h 03m. Length of visible light: 12h 02m. Tomorrow will be 3m 02s longer.

Have a delightful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Nothing beat a wood burning stove. As long as someone else splits and hauls to wood.

Experimented more making stuffed spinach chicken cutlets. Will pin it down eventually. Used to tent camp at -30 or colder. Thought it was fun!

Finished my posts early yesterday then watched some episodes on Netflix of America: The Story of Us. Learning some events that the history books do not mention. Also saw my fave TV series while waiting for the one day warmup.

Saw the temp recover rapidly from a warmer low of 1° (-17°C) today. With the deep freeze returning each night through the weekend, wanted to go to the store and get more chicken breasts to try my new recipes.

Got a fabulous deal at Mac's Mrk for split chicken breasts. They were $2.29 earlier in the morning and reduced to $1.49 a lb. Bought three of them, Neufchatel, 8 oz on sale for 99¢, and Feta cheese 8 oz for $4.99.

Returned home to work with 2 chicken breasts into bacon wrapped stuffed w/spinach breasts cooked in the toaster oven. Like them w/a little mayo mixed in the spinach, feta cheese and garlic mix.

Temp reached a high of 27° (-3°C) which was perfect for me to wear a baseball spring jacket w/light gloves and go for a walk up the mtn road. The late morning was wonderfully sunny w/a few little clouds floating by quickly at 6,000 ft.

Walked south up past my forest to see the new clear cut upo against my property line. Have some blow downs that the attorney landowner who owns right beside me had that section clear cut last winter.

The bright side of the new clear cut is that views of the Kilkenny Range and Mt Cabot are easily seen from my side of the loop road. Even the 4 story barn on the other side of the loop can now be seen.

While the sun remains below the 100'+ tall forest trees, it felt warm when some of the tree cut properties were reached. The sound was dead still. Only a light sound of wind was heard — and a woodpecker working for its meal.

Walked to the beginning of the fire road. Looked down it to notice the logging trucks have finished cutting. No new truck tracks w/their tire chains were seen. Thoughts of Spring and temps above freezing on most days filled my mind.

Then it was time to return. Walked north past the custom log cabin. It looks like it has not seen visitor's in a long time. Though the driveway was plowed from a storm several weeks aago. Much of the roof was raked.

In the one mile south up the mountain there are only two houses, both can be seen from the road. The trees have blankets covered much of their limbs. Were bare, it is the wind that uncovered them.

The two mile round trip has several hundred feet of elevation gain. My gps has not worked in several years. Plan on building up my legs in the warmer temps so that the entire loop road of 4¼ miles w/its 650 ft of elevation gain can be done w/ease.

My Co Insur adjuster stopped by to inspect to damage from the hit and run 1 month ago. Would imagine the estimate and the draft of the check will be rec'd next week.

The air temp is -2° (-19°C) and dropping. The high is to be 15° (-9°C). Yet -16° (-27°C) tonight.

Civil twilight is 5:59 AM EST. Night is 5:59 PM.

Sunrise: 6:29 AM. Set: 5:29 PM.

Length of day: 11h 00m. Length of visible light: 11h 59m. Tomorrow will be 3m 02s longer.

Off to the Mkt later to get some deals on produce and shop at a few other stores.

Have a fantastic day!

Hi Snow, We had to check out of my campground in Kissimmee, 2 weeks max, then leave for 1 week. We are in Sebrings, Fl at a nice state park. Just extended 2 days due to storm coming thru. My 2 daughters and wife's daughter called yesterday about snow due Thursday! We are riding our bikes and hiking the trails in the park. Saw a big Aligator yesterday. Heard his growl, or what ever it is called and knew what it was. It was about 8-10 feet long, it looks. Was looking for a hand out!
Nice boat trailer! I took a picture of a red neck water bottle bracket and will post that.
Hope you have a warm nightHi Midnight, and I H8 Winter!
The chicken with mayo and riccota sounds great!

Hope you have a warm night Heading back to campground

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Getting tired of this Long winter — I ♥ summer!!

An hour after the sun rose in this area we reached the low of the day. It was -33°F (-36°C). The 6,288 ft (1917 metre) summit of Mt Washington was 2 degrees warmer. Not a doubt this was the coldest night of the year.

What a great feeling the kerosene heater offers. Constant uninterrupted heat w/the house at a pleasing 78° F (26°C). This is with the bdrm window open at the bottom 3 inches.

Wore a t-shirt and light cotton pants as my posts were completed before 5:30 AM. Filled the heater w/more kero, then took a wonderful 90 minute nap. Woke to more warmth and the desire to cook.

Cut a thick chicken breast in half to have four boneless pieces. Made two using a different spinach stuffing in each, one w/a little mayo stirred in and the other w/a ricotta cheese mix. Both were wrapped w/turkey bacon and grilled in the toaster oven. Did like both of them. Need to make them further and give more taste tests.

Made tthe last wo dipped in flour, egg batter, panko bread crumbs and fried in evoo w/ garlic and a 5 cheese topping. Decided to boil some farfalle (bow ties) then made homemade bruschetta w/the works to add to them. What a tasty treat.

Turned off the kero heater at 11 AM. The house was hot and was sweating after preparing the different styles of food.

Took at drive when the temp rose to 3°F (-16°C) to Shaw's for some Genoa salami and some other cold cuts ends in a styrofoam pkg for $2.99 a pound. Got my mail at the P.O. Rec'd an acknowledgement of the Insur claim in the mail.

Stopped at the local auto collision center to let them know the Dart was going to be repaired next week. Asked for the favor of buffing out a few of the small scratches as a free bonus and for a new Ford Focus, C-Max or Fusion, to test drive car for the two days the car will be in their shop.

The air temp is 9° (-13°C). The high is to be 25° (-4°C). Yet -14° (-26°C) tonight.

Civil twilight is 6:01 AM EST. Night is 5:58 PM.

Sunrise: 6:30 AM. Set: 5:28 PM.

Length of day: 10h 57m. Length of visible light: 11h 56m. Tomorrow will be 3m 01s longer.

Have a fabulous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Having an early morning root beer float. Temp is closing in on -31. No worries.

Went to sleep an hour early Sunday night. Was tired from using the Sno Thro the day before. Woke up at midnight and completed my rounds very earlier than usual. Nice to get in a 90 minute nap and it still be early in the day.

Readied for a drive to Whitefield, NH. Wanted to get single chicken breasts for $2.09 a lb ea, instead for buying 4+ lbs at Shaw's for $1.99 a lb. Visited that Subway to get the workers to correct a 55¢ overcharge the day before.

A 6" brekky sub and a coffee are still an amazing $3, $3.27 inc tax at Subway in these parts. Got my 55¢ adjustment on my purchase.

Enjoyed the entirely scenic drive to Littleton via NH Rt 116 Visited a small market to say hello to two friends who work there and have not seen in a year. Pizza slices are excellent and one gets a ⅙ of a plain cheese pizza pie for $2.50 inc tax.

Stopped for bread and bleach at WM. Went in Shaw's for their 26 oz can of cream of chicken soup on sale for $1.69. They still do not have it in stock. Dollar Tree also does not have its grated Parmesan cheese 8 oz for $1 in either. Warehouses are out of stock.

Got a phone call late afternoon from Lowe's w/a message, "If you want 2 cans of kerosene or a dozen, we have them in stock". Interesting that four days ago the message was, "Kero has arrived and they are going fast."

Thought about this for hours. Bought one 5 gallon can for the w/e cold. Also want a spare amount in case the power goes out. Lots more heat in the kero heater than turning the stove burners or the oven on, in case of a power outage.

Temp peaked at 4° (-20°C) in the afternoon. The temp was on a steady decline for the remainder of the day. Fired up the kero heater mid afternoon. Fabulous to absorb that constant heat and wake up to an extra warm house.

Wind was cutting my face all day. Wind gusts were to 15 mph (25 km/h)

The air temp is -30° (-34°C). The high is to be 16° (-9°C) .

W/a wind chill value as low as 42° below zero (-41C).

Civil twilight is 6:03 AM EST. Night is 5:56 PM.

Sunrise: 6:32 AM. Set: 5:27 PM.

Length of day: 10h 54m. Length of visible light: 11h 53m. Tomorrow will be 3m 01s longer.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

snow, Feel the exact same way. 75° in the sun is perfect for me. No need to be hotter than that.

Am happy to have the car repaired completely free to me. Was minding my own biz. No one should have to pay for another's error. Makes a better world.

Completed my posts early yesterday morning. Looked forward to returning to bed for a wonderful 90 minute nap. It restored my vitality. Had a hot cup of my homemade chicken noodle soup then went out.

The temp was up to 3° to 12° (-11°C) and it felt warm. One pull of the rip cord fired up the Ariens Sno Thro. There was 5 inches (12.7 cm) of nice light fluffy powder to clean. The town plow triples that at the foot of the driveway. The added weight of sand mixed in the snow makes it quite heavy at that location.

Went around the perimeter of my house and shot snow to fill in the melted space between the built up snow and house to further insulate the coming cold. Snow blown from the Ariens is now 7 feet (2.2 metres) up the side of the house. Will be quite helpful keeping the house warm this week. More cold arrives each evening right through the w/e.

Took the Dart for a drive to Whitefield. Wanted to see the beautiful fresh fallen snow that is thick on the trees w/the mountains (facsimile photo) in the distance.

Stopped to top of my tank w/gas that surprised me remains $2.09 w/the Cumberland Farms Smart Pay Card. It gives anyone w/it 10¢ off every gallon, then withdraws the funds from ones checking account in a day or two.

Visited my pal the meat mgr at Mac's Mkt in Whitefield. Bought a lean Rib eye (Delmonico Steak,) a deal for $6.99 a lb. Returned home, sliced it lengthwise, and cooked it ever so slow in the frying pan.

Added baby mushrooms to the works. The steak was juicy, tender, and well worth the $7.11 paid for it.

Around me, towns saw the temp touch and exceed the freezing point. The temp was shy in my area. Usually the first several days above freezing remain below freezing here as the ground and snow depth radiate the deep freeze stored over the months.

This week will see the cold return w/overnight temps equaling our coldest mornings. Particularly tonight and Thursday night. Can only pray that next week is not as cold. Will fire up the kero heater this afternoon

The air temp is 19° (-7°C). Temperatures falling to 5 below (-21°C) this afternoon. Then 24 below (31°C) tonight.

Civil twilight is 6:04 AM EST. Night is 5:55 PM.

Sunrise: 6:34 AM. Set: 5:25 PM.

Length of day: 10h 51m. Length of visible light: 11h 50m. Tomorrow will be 3m 00s longer.

Have a pleasant day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Must be laughter and joy w/an income of $80 million (Netflix) each month. Would say the ends are meeting pretty good.

Yes she prolly should. At 75 y/o, she'll most likely have her rates increase. No prosecution for a big name family in town is "Cherry Picking"

Was going to slow cook the chicken legs and split chicken breasts in the crock pot at 2 AM so they would be ready for my 6 AM lunch. Went to look for them in the fridge and they were not there.

Looked on the floor for the shopping bag. It was not there. figured they must have been left in the car. Temp was dropping fast. At 26 below zero, (-32 C) why go out to the car at 2 AM?

Finished my posts, then at 5 AM went to make a pastrami sammie. In that tray was the two pkgs of chicken. Shook my head over hiding them on myself then prepared the crock pot.

Wanted to make a fresh pot of chicken noodle soup so the skin was left on w/a few cups of water added to make chemical free broth. Added carrots, celery, onions and garlic.

Then added diced broccoli florets and wheat linguine in 1½ lengths. When the works was ready, a cup of milled flax seed was slowly stirred in to thicken the works w/o using flour or cornstarch. My preferred method.

Turned off the kero heater at nine o'clock. Overcast arrived and sent the temp sailing into to the teens, then into the 20's (-11° to -5°C). W/a hot cup of fresh made hot soup, watched my fave shows on Netflix.

Really was absorbed in the later seasons of Law & Order and Criminal Minds. The screen writing is superb. Like to not be able to guess a story's ending and be surprised. These two and several others have succeeded wonderfully.

Ready for another snow event late this afternoon then overnight into Sunday morning. May see 6 inches if the majority of snow remain south. Tho on the other hand, snow is burying Washington DC at the rate of 2" per hour. It could head north and say hello.

Warmer today and much warmer tomorrow. Monday night the temp plummets to at least 20° below zero (-29°C). Will fire up the kero heater late Monday afternoon to enjoy the extra warmth it offers.

The air temp is 19° (-7°C). Our high is to be 36° (2°C). Two to six inches of snow is greeting me this morning.

Civil twilight is 6:06 AM EST. Night is 5:53 PM.

Sunrise: 6:35 AM. Set: 5:24 PM.

Length of day: 10h 48m. Length of visible light: 11h 47m. Tomorrow will be 2m 59s longer.

Have a splendid day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Not sure what to say on the hiker's death. Many ignore the signs. It is their choice. Like the scenery here. That's why sunny Cal was left for here. maybe I am crazy!

The house as well as this writer was most comfortable this morning having the kerosene heater on since the day before going non stop. With my bdrm window open 3" top and bottom the temp outdoors at 7 AM was -4° (-20° C) yesterday morning.

Watched a few of my fave TV Series on Netflix. It means lots of entertainment for not having network broadcasting able to reach these northern mtns. Think the cost of $8 a month is the deal of the century.

Decided to drive to my pal's grocery store where he is the meat mgr and prep for the coming w/e storm w/some goodies. He has split chicken breasts for $1.69 a lb, chicken legs for 8 ¢ a lb and sliced ham for $1.99 a lb.

Asked him how on Earth can you sell deli sliced ham for $1.99 a lb? He told me they were Hormel and the like blister pkgs w/the sell by dates getting close, so they are re=packaged in Styrofoam trays are offered for less.

Good for sammies and omelets. Know they have MSG and other chemicals. Am in at that price. We chatted about everything under the sun. The store mgr walked by a few times to hint to us to break up the chat.

Went to that town's Subway and get a 6" white egg and bacon brekky special, w/ all the veggies and a 16 oz coffee for $3.27 inc tax. Brought it out to the car and added two slices of ham.

Ate the sub on the way to the Town of Franconia, NH. This town has it all, Mtns, waterfalls, x-c and downhill skiing, an airport & Soaring Center, horseback riding stables, the Robert Frost House & Museum Inn B & B's and views everywhere.

My insurance agent was my destination. Told her that the parent insurance Co phoned late afternoon, yet did not leave a message. She let me phone the Main Mutual Group and a message was left to the adjuster.

Apparently the driver of the SUV that backed into me at the P.O 3 weeks ago had her conscious bother her, phone the Insur Co and admit she backed into me.

Unknown to me was the Co sent me repeated mail. Have no mail box at the house on purpose. All mail is to my PO box to weed out junk mail.

Phoned the adjuster at 1 PM to discuss this hit and run. We are both insured by the same Co. Bingo for me! She took my recorded accident statement. Was parked and the other driver backed into me and then left the scene.

An adjuster will visit next week and draft a check for 100% of the damage. Wonderful from my point of view.

In a month the maple sugar tree sap will be flowing and temps will rise above freezing during the day. Looking forward to some not as cold days. One frigid winter, especially this month.

The air temp is -23° (-31°C). Our high is to be 22° (-6°C). Two to six inches of snow is expected this afternoon into tomorrow morning

Civil twilight is 6:07 AM EST. Night is 5:23 PM.

Sunrise: 6:37 AM. Set: 5:52 PM.

Length of day: 10h 45m. Length of visible light: 11h 44m. Tomorrow will be 2m 58s longer.

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Cold in Fla? What a beat.

More on that lady below. A case of pure megalomania. What do you think of a multimillion life insurance policy? Hmm.

Forgot to mention the following yesterday that many wrote to ask. That 32 y/o female hiker who perished choose to continue on in 100 mph (161 km/h) winds above treeline, instead of turning back. Since there is a year round manned weather observation building at the Mt Washington summit, forecasts are days in advance and detailed every morning.

There are also a score of hiking sites to hook up w/a partner to hike. In the snow of winter Anything other than a group hike is placing one's life at risk.

This sign is just before tree line (takes a few sec's to load) 8 to 10' high up (snow depth) on on every trail of Presidential Mtn Range.

Those stricken with madness or megalomania say in their minds that warning is for all those other chumps, not me. The views from the top are any hikers dream. This is the view of the Prezzies from a nearby summit named Owl's Head in Jefferson, NH.

Trimmed the fat off the pork sirloin cutlets ($1.79 a lb on sale), added carrots, taters, asparagus in the crock pot and cooked them for two hours. Then two onions were cut up in thick slabs, added to the works 3 hours later for another hour. Made some delish gravy from the juices and enjoyed an inexpensive dinner. Have about 5 or 6 meals remaining.

Had not planned to drive to Littleton yesterday as the mtn road was not plowed. Two hours later a walk to the foot of the driveway discovered the road plowed and sanded. It was already 9 AM. Said go for it to myself and used my Dart to plow through foot tall snow berm the plow left when it traveled by.

Wanted kerosene more than going to the mkt as Friday and Monday nights may be the coldest of winter. Took the drive down the mtn and felt there was a good chance of driving back home. If the snow stayed light.

Bought leaf lettuce, for $1.75, xtra large eggs for $2, broccoli crowns $1.18 a lb, green beans $1.50 a lb, cukes 60¢ ea, A half pint of blackberries for $1.75, a 2 lb pkg of strawberries for $3.50 and baby bella mushrooms $2.25 for a 10 oz pkg.

Some of the prices at Big Papa's Market are found here. Click on "See more" for a small sample of their low prices. The owner and a worker drive to the Produce Mkt in Boston the night before, select, purchase and haul their cargo back to Littleton. One way is 150 miles.

Went right to Lowe's to buy two 5 gallon cans of K-1 kerosene. Thanked the paint dept mgr for telephoning me, leaving a message, and letting me know this item arrived at the store.

Left the store to see the snow coming down quite moderately. High tailed it to Shaw's for the last day sale of those wonderful pork loin cutlets for only $1.79. Then drove home.

Made the sharp turn at the bottom, then up the mtn road. The tires slipped and the car slid, yet the traction control worked perfectly to get my acquisitions right to my driveway.

Backing back into my drive saw the undercarriage hung up on the plow's snow berm. Used the Ariens Sno Thro to blast the snow outta there, then clean up around the tires w/a shovel. The barrel of sand (w/salt mixed in) half way down my drive had 2" thick ice on top. Took lots of blows w/the spade shovel to break away the thick ice crust.

No problem the car returned to its usual spot. The Dart still has bare ground under its parking spot from last fall. Lit the kero heater at 1:30 PM to super heat the house to prepare for this evening's expected dbl digits of -20° (-25°C) below zero temps.

Plus more snow overnight this morning. 6 to 10 inches (15 to 25 cm) is forecast. Not a problem at all.

The still air temp is -3° (-19°C). Our high is to be 9° (-13°C).

Civil twilight is 6:09 AM EST. Night is 5:51 PM.

Sunrise: 6:38 AM. Set: 5:52 PM.

Length of day: 10h 42m. Length of visible light: 11h 41m. Tomorrow will be 2m 58 longer.

Have a delightful day!

Snow, that is about right, LPG at this campground is $3.50 per gal and costco, it is $1.50 per gal. Going to fill my tanks tomorrow and will let you know. Was planning on filing my diesel truck and 6 empty 5 gal cans at @ 2.54 per gal at Walmart. Today, it is $2.79.

Now, that was Funny!

Have a warm night

Midnight, we are in a state of shock! We are in Florida, and was cool today and cold while the wind was blowing. Sat & Sun is supposed to be nice.

From what you are saying about the temp's, that lady was reckless!

They may aught to investigate for foul play

Have a warm night

Sorry...I wasn't thinking when I said that. You are right. 1 gal. of LP = 4.2#
That means at $1.50/gal. = about .36 cents per pound x 20# = $7.20 or a 30# x .36 = $10.80 to fill. Is that about right? That's pretty cheap!

If your neighbor's landscaping looks like this ........................... you might be a redneck.

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

My mind is forgetful. What state are your in? Guess is Fla. Cold enough here that thoughts freeze.

Need to cook more brown rice w/shrimp and veggies added. It is that times. Have a Chinese buffet about 40 miles away that still charges $5 for all one can eat.Everything is made in house

Temps were a kind -8° (-22°C) Tuesday overnight. This compared to the 30 below zero (-34°C) the night before. The day was also most pleasant, blue skies, lots of sun, and a high of 28° (-2°C).

A good day to relax watching the Netflix history special. America: The story of Us. Its 12 episodes that viewer thru the first landings of Jamestown and Plymouth, thru the American Revolution and the landing on the Moon.

After the past few weeks of using the kero heater, it needed to be serviced. Placed the kerosene heater outside w/no fuel in it to burn the wick red hot. This loosens up any residue.

When it was through burning it was brought back inside and the top half was removed to get at the wick to clean. Used a nylon fingernail brush to gently clean the wick clean and to soften it up. It was used constantly from Sunday.

Makes the unit much more efficient and the wick w/this care will last for a decade or more. Do have and extra wick bought many years ago in my closest waiting its turn.

Researched more on the 32 y/o wife of VP JP Morgan who died from exposure on The Presidential Mtn Range. Wind chills of 80° below zero were forecast as was 100 mph (161 km/h) winds. A hiking partner or a group hike is always the correct way to face winter hiking. As is turning back at the first sign of danger. That would be whiteout wind conditions w/no visibility.

There are dozens of hiking sites one can post6 a hike and ask to have company on hikes. Why on earth would someone use such poor judgement?

What was her husband thinking, dropping her off and letting her hike alone at 5 AM? The weather in the Presidential Range, particularly on and around Mt. Washington, can change on a dime at any time of year, let alone winter.

100 mph winds and minus 80° windchill is not uncommon in winter. Just can’t believe how reckless someone could be with their own life, let alone the rescuers who had to risk their own lives to find her. She had a transponder (a rescue beacon), used it, yet rescuers could not battle the conditions to save her.

The short story is here. It has to be megalomania to hike in those conditions. Prudent hikers would never hike in 100 mph (161 km/h) winds in the winter. The mtns will be there on another, better, safer day.

Snow is forecast until 7 PM. Eight inches is expected here. Twelve inches in the Portland, Maine area. Looks like a postponement of my trip to the mkt until tomorrow. Want to drive home, not walk up the mtn.

Lowe's phoned late afternoon w/the news more kerosene arrived. It is forecast to be cold tonight and extra cold (-22°F/ -30°C) Friday night into Saturday.

The still air temp is 14° (-10°C). Our high is to be a pleasing +25° (-4°C). Pleasing compared to the recent temps.

I ♥ Life

Hi Snow, never seen a pregnant lady with that tattoo!

I was talking gallons, at this campground, it is $3.50 per Gallon. At Costco, it is $1.50 per gallon. Takes 4 lbs to gallon as I recall. Don't recall how many gallons, or #, to my 30# tank. Will find out tomorrow on way back from race when I stop to fill up. Walmart jumped from $2.54 per gallon diesel Monday to $2.79 today! :>(( Day late and dollar short!
Guess you are glad no snow! Have a good day tomorrow.
Oh, no, I don't work, for pay, that is!

Hi midnight

It was good you stopped in to compliment the repair tech and company! A pat on the back goes a long way. Glad we are not in your cold temp's. Wife is much better since being here. In 60's today and took another 6 mile bike ride after our huge dinner at our favorite oriental restaurant. Lots of veggies/shrimp/yummy baby clams desserts and Ice cream, for only $14 for the 2 of us, not including tip.

Have a warm night.

I 💕 life!

Good morning Happy!

WOW! That's expensive to fill LP tanks!

Menards has 20# exchange for $15.82 = #0.79/lb.
I have seen other places have 20# exchange for $13.95 = $0.70/lb. & Tractor Supply 20# for just $13.00 = $0.65/lb.

Those are all w/exchanges. Some places fill your tank for even less!

If you know someone that got pregnant like this..............oh ya.......................you just might be a redneck.

Have a wonderful wacky Wednesday!

D ... if you have to work.

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Mom Nature said that today and tomorrow would be warm. So snow can enjoy its visit. Will Just under freezing temps for two days. Then back to reg winter.

Not to experience 30 below zero. Have some fun. Gee whiz.

Woke up at midnight yesterday and remained awake w/the temp plunging far below zero during the wee hours. The 17 below zero become at least 27 below zero (-33°C) by 4 AM.

The stat chart of the day showed the temp touching past -30° F (-35°C) from 3:30 - 7 AM. The ice on the front door hinges thickened to ¾ inch. Proof to me.

Stayed toasty warm w/the kero heater cranking out 23,000 BTU's an hour. The temp was approaching 80° (27°C) in the house. Had to open one bdrm window 3" top and bottom. Several pots are filled w/water to keep the house nicely humid.

Enjoyed a 90 minute nap after finishing my rounds earlier than usual. Steam poured out of the open window from the heat and moisture into the intense deep freeze. The bdrm's light saw the screen a solid white from thick frost.

Watched my fave TV shows on Netflix. Then made a hash w/tatas, onions, the last of the cooked chicken legs, mushrooms, and red bell peppers. Come 10 o'clock it was time to go to the grocery store.

Had a strong urge to buy bone in pork sirloin chops at Shaw's on sale for only $1.79 a lb advertised in their weekly flyer. The Dart started easier than a few days earlier.

Let it run w/the fan on and returned to the house. The snow squeaks in temps about 10 below zero. The snow is so cold it can not expand — that is heat up when the pressure of steps or tires are on them. Snow crunches in warmer temps. Say above 0°

Found a fabulous pkg of chops that did not have a ¾" of fat around them like some of the others. Went to the PO, saw the home emergency furnance repair bill and opened it in the car. The visit w/parts, and labor, the total was just $111.25.

Stopped at that Propane Co office, spoke to the Office Mgr, and thanked him for a prompt service call w/o juicing the bill. Told him to please thank the tech for a job well down. Will pay the bill w/in 30 days.

Took the drive to the Mac's Mkt my pal is the meat mgr of. He had more days off. A job that is a gift of days off for him. The store mgr told me his store was 47° (8°C) when he opened the door at 5 AM.

The oil furnace there needed an early morning repair. Know he will pay thru the nose when the bill is rec'd. Passed up $3.99 90/10% hamburger for ground pork for $2.29. Also bought hot ham for $4.99 a lb on sale. It did have a bite to it.

Was going to turn off the kerosene heater before going out until the forecast was updated. The overnight is expected to be 11 to 15° below zero. Cold enough to enjoy the extra warmth and save the propane for when the temps are warmer.

The still air temp is -8° (-22°C). Our high is to be a pleasing +25° (-4°C). Light snow is forecast.

Civil twilight is 6:12 AM EST. Night is 5:48 PM.

Sunrise: 6:42 AM. Set: 5:18 PM.

Length of day: 10h 36m. Length of visible light: 11h 36m. Tomorrow will be 2m 55 longer.

Have a fabulous day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Is that like I love the smell of Bingo in the evening. Have fun!

Right after my post Sunday in the afternoon my long underwear was put on, heavy winter hiking pants, and an extra warm well insulated jacket rated for 50 below zero. It was 6° (-14°C) tho w/unyielding bitter wind gusts.

While outdoors and had a heart to heart w? Mom Nature, Told her, "Ha Ha! Ya missed!" j/k Actually said last week of bitter cold okay?

Spent an hour clearing the drive, the walkway, shirting the house with more snow and fine tuning the foot of the drive were the town plow piles snow as it pushes it to the sides.

By 7:30 AM the air temp dropped to minus 18° (-27° C). Certainly cold enough to delay my drive to Littleton. Yesterday the high saw 5° (-15° C).

Sure am glad that the kerosene was stocked and there is enough for 72 hours. Will turn the heater off during the day and set the thermostat of the wall furnace to fire it up when the house temp is 68° ( 20° C).

Wish each of you could taste the effects of 20 below zero (-29°C) w/o the wind for a few minutes. It is quite the unforgettable experience. How cold is -20°F (-29°C)? So cold my front door hinges have frost on the inside ½ inch thick.

My last propane fill will be next month before the Mud Season arrive. Should cost in the $250-$300 range to fill up the 2 tanks. This should last until Oct/November when the heating season returns.

Drove to Littleton. Enjoyed the scenic drive and winter wonderland. Noticed there was not one ice fishing bob house on the CT River. Have seen dozens in past years.

Some folks use mini kerosene heaters, the size of a lantern and spend many hours fishing thru the ice. Some fishing bobs are fancy, far more that a box.

Stopped at the Gold House for their fabulous steak special w/mushrooms, onions, and peppers, provolone cheese melted on top. We call it a steak bomb in Boston when Genoa salami in laid on the bottom and the goodies are stacked on top.

Went to Lowe's to inquire about more 5 gallon buckets of kerosene. Was told 18 buckets are on order. They should arrive before Friday night's -20°F to 25° below zero (-29° to -32° C) temp. The dept mgr took my phone number and will phone as soon as they arrive.

The still air temp is -25° (-32°C). Yes, 25° below zero. The kerosene heater is lit and feeling like summer. Heating my home more than 105° (40°C) over the outside temp. Our high is to be 18° (-8°C).

Civil twilight is 6:13 AM EST. Night is 5:47 PM.

Sunrise: 6:43 AM. Set: 5:17 PM.

Length of day: 10h 33m. Length of visible light: 11h 33m. Tomorrow will be 2m 56 longer.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Still trying to understand why we were in a "conflict" and were not allowed to win. Outright. NVA would run out of supplies, offer a 'peace talk' cease fire then re-arm, they say terms are not agreeable. For only 15 years. And 5 administrations.

We need to laugh. Everyday. Period.

Hung inside ready and waiting for the blizzard to hit. Come 10 AM it did not arrive, haze appeared. Could this be real? At 11 AM the sun arrived and the sky turned a beautiful blue.

What madness is this? Then the realization was that the storm did not travel 160 miles north of Boston to my area. Don't think much more than a few flakes fell.

Saw on Netflix the TV shows, Sons of Anarchy, America's Book of secrets, Criminal Minds, and Mankind: The Story of All of Us, a History channel that miniseries charts the rise of civilization, from the first flourishing of life in Mesopotamia through the discovery of America.

Made some more chicken noodle soup. Used the last 26 oz can of 'Cream of Chicken soup laced w/enough MSG from the mfr to cause most folks a headache, chest pain, heart palpitations, sweating, flushing, wheezing, nausea, vomiting, asthma attacks, and for good measure face. limb, and/or finger numbness.

Watered it down then added milled flax seed, sliced carrots, celery, garlic, spinach green beans and the last of the cooked brown rice. Boiled whole wheat spaghetti, used up the last chicken leg, added some diced spinach, then thickened up the works with slices of a 2 lb cheddar bar.

Stayed inside using the stairs, two steps at a time, as fine exercise to strengthen my quads. My replacement hip is so much better, yet have continuing sharp pains in the right quad. Will need to make an appointment to have it looked at, if it doesn't leave me soon.

The temperature reached a high of 6° (14°C) early in the afternoon and is plunging as forecast. Outdoor air temp will be at least 15° below zero (26°C) overnight. More deep freeze will arrive for the rest of the week.

May see a high of 25° on Thursday as clouds move in for a possible small snow event. Have the kerosene heater (w/the furnace off) on to raise the heat in the house to Cabo San Lucas, MX temp of 85° (30°C).

It is like a mini vacation of heat during those -25° (-32°C) overnights we have. The coldest air of the winter is due to arrive this w/e.

In another month, warmer temps will begin the freeze/thaw cycle along with the sugar maple season. Then the green of Spring arrives.

The temp is -12° (-24°C) and will drop several degrees further. It will be much colder tonight. The kerosene heater is lit. Our high is to be 2° (-16°C).

Civil twilight is 6:15 AM EST. Night is 5:46 PM.

Sunrise: 6:45 AM. Set: 5:16 PM.

Length of day: 10h 31m. Length of visible light: 11h 30m. Tomorrow will be 2m 55 longer.

Have a pleasant day!

Spartacus was funny.

On the Vietnam war, I was released from active duty in 1962, and they were just started sending "Advisors" to Vietnam. And, the returning soldiers really got a bum welcome home!

Good morning!

I ♥ Life!

Cheapest diesel here was robbing peeps for $2.94 a gallon. Difficult for me to see a car race in a blizzard ; ) Like those ⅝ scale models much. Could get right into them.

Take a minute for a good laugh. Memories of seeing the 1960 classic movie Spartacus (directed by Stanley Kubrick) will bring laughter to all seeing the following. One will laugh w/o seeing the original movie in this hilarious 1 min 35 sec clip on youtube.

The snow began before first light. All the weather sites said to expect regular snow all day. Then at 3 AM or so this morning, is when the real deal hits.

Being on the VT border an far inland our area is expected to get only 4 - 8 inches while in Maine and on the coast of Mass, RI, and CT will see 12" to 18" (30 to 45 cm) new snow, or even more.

It is the wind velocity of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph (30-65 km/h) that can snap trees and cause severe power outages. Even the Cape in Mass and points north of Boston will be in the line of fire from the coming 20 hour blizzard.

Did want to leave here here this morning for a few items on sale and exchange some soup for cream of chicken. It snowed steady right into the afternoon.

The logging trucks were not working this morning so no trucks to mulch up the sand beneath the snow. Walked to the road for a look see. Leaving her would surely mean parking at the bottom for days and walking up the mountain.

Played my first games of StarCraft in almost two weeks. Enjoyed it more and even missed it. Saw Vietnam in HD on Netflix. Film footage is from soldiers in country taken during our 15 years of conflict ('59-73) w/communist troops.

This gripping series profiles 13 men and women who survived the Vietnam War. And the unrest at home.

The kerosene space heater was so hot by noon that my t-shirt was getting stuck to my skin. The window was open, yet w/o any wind, the fresh cold air was slow to enter. Had to shut the heater down and cool off.

Midnight Friday night saw the temp drop for two hours. By 2 AM the outside air was 25° below zero (-32°C). Then the clouds of the King Neptune Nor'easter arrived and the temp began to climb all day to its high of 12° (-11C).

A break in the deep freeze during this blizzard. My area far removed from the eye will get only 4 to 8 inches ( 0 to 20 cm). Then back to those 20° below overnights (-29°C), the air temps. This right thru Thursday night into Friday morning.

The temp is 9° (-13°C), our day's high, w/light snow falling.

Civil twilight is 6:16 AM EST. Night is 5:44 PM.

Sunrise: 6:46 AM. Set: 5:14 PM.

Length of day: 10h 28m. Length of visible light: 11h 28m. Tomorrow will be 2m 52 longer.

Have a splendid day!
