Hiya Justin, Claudie, Dr. T, and Don. Thanks for dropping by.

Justin - Thank you. Glad to hear that Rev. Kevin will be working both of the days you're working at Barney's next week. Bet he's glad of that too. :)

Nice busy shift again for you. I like that breakfast for dinner. Sounds really good to me. :)

Hope you enjoyed the wedding. I'm sure that all of you had fun.

Very good pic of your mom working. Looks like she is really concentrating. :)

Hope today is going smoothly for you. Enjoy yourself.

Claudie - Thank you. Sounds like everything went really well for you all yesterday. You had a nice visit and a good meal and got the webcam all set up and ready to use.

I have only one word that's printable here for Alhana's mom...ROTTEN! That is the most selfish uncaring thing I have heard in quite a while. Not only unfair to all of you, especially her dad, but unfair to Alhana also.

I surely do hope that it doesn't mean she won't be coming to visit you again. That would really be awful.

I hope you can get through the rest of the day OK. Maybe you can Skype Alhana when she gets home today. Not nearly as good as a visit but better than nothing. Good luck with it.

Dr. T - Thank you. Sure sounds like somebody is playing a water game with you guys and it doesn't sound like fun either. Not telling you the water was back on was a rotten trick and the "until the next time it goes dry" sounds like bull to me.

You do have some positive things about being there but the management sure isn't one of them.

We don't get everything at WM even when they have most of what went for. We go to the other big box store for sale items and some things that we we don't buy at WM and of course the local market for produce, meat and milk. Don't need milk yet but will likely get that Wednesday. Discount day. In other words in answer to your question...yes. :)

Grrrr! The movie was loading well, but very sloooow which happens with real videos. The site allowed the download but after over an hour, we had 51 seconds loaded. I stopped to look and see how it was coming and noticed that the download light was off on my modem and nothing was happening. Always a hazard with long ones. All it takes is a bit of static and it loses connection for a second and the download stops. It won't restart by itself and I didn't have time to start it over. Good news is that we will watch it this evening on C.'s HP. :)

Don - Thank you. That makes sense. Less effort expended pushing the bike pedals than walking and moving your full weight with each step. Hope you can work it out so it gets better.

That is way too hot. I'll bet you're using the AC again and staying inside in the afternoon. Keep cool. :)

Hope you're having a really nice day.

Have A Great Afternoon & Evening Everyone!

P.S. Lighting hope your day is going well. Take care.

HI XP

I am guessing it's due to my heart and lungs condition. Maybe I can work it out.

Nice and hot here today. Got 97 yesterday should get 90 today.

Enjoy your day

Good Morning XP,

From TL...all the rain we got. Sure we did.
The water had been on since Wed., but no one told me. No notice went up. I talked yesterday with the hubby of one of the gals I walk with, and he told me. Also said, he was told that there would be water until it runs out again. I have always said I appreciate the "free" water which is not a given, but, after working all these years I still don't think it should run out unless we are in a drought and not really here.

The trees...I honestly don't know the policy today which could be different from the policy yesterday. I kid you not. Some years back neighbor and I had to pay for an arborist to say the trees were dangerous and needed to come out. We didn't have to pay for the removal. That was when we weren't suppose to even remove a twig ourselves (ha) :-) Now, I hear okay to trim the trees ourselves, but most are huge!!!! I complain in the winter that, even though I have none in my yard, they still block all the sun reaching my yard because of their height.

Trying to think of a positive after talking about the trees.
Ummm, neighbors here, most very friendly. Adding the closeness of the ocean.

Do you still have to shop today, maybe for milk, since Saturday was so successful?

You all know about Random Acts of Kindness. That's what comes to mind as I viewed today's movie. It comes from the website entitled, Thaigoodstories.com - Believe in good.
The video starts right in without an introduction so be ready.

May your day be blessed!

Good morning, XP,

Things went just fine and dandy yesterday!

First I met my brother, his wife, their 2 daughters, and their grandson at Mom's about 11:30. We all hung around there for a while; my brother did some things to Mom's computer and her TV set-up, while the rest of us talked; he also gave me the web camera and the set-up disk. We ended up going to lunch at a place across from the ALF, an Italian restaurant called The Italian Oven. GREAT place to eat, for sure!

After lunch, I came home and my brother took Mom back home. I'm guessing that he stayed for a short time and then he went home, too.

Once I got home, Son set up Skype for me on this computer, and now that's all taken care of! It works b/c we did a practice test with his phone and Skype account. We sent Alhana's mother a request, and we're just waiting for that now.

I don't plan on going anywhere today, but ya never know. :)

What we ARE planning on is hopefully seeing Alhana, even for a very, very short period of time. She and the rest of her family have been to visit her mother's parents for this weekend (about 45 minutes north of us), and they're supposed to stop and see us on their way back home (not much time, I guess, but what can I say?). We don't really even know what time they'll be coming through. I surely hope this doesn't fall through; we All want/need to see her, esp. Son.

Other than that, I'll probably just finish up what I haven't finished from the past 2 days. :)

Have a great Sunday!

Good afternoon, EXPAPERMAKER! I see you left the front door unlocked...great! Thanks for your comments on my update and pic! I'll be working two days at Barney's next week. Rev. Kevin is working on both of those days.

Today’s Picture:
Mom Working Hard

Yesterday I worked a grocery shift at Al’s. After work, Mom and I had breakfast for dinner. Today Mom works 9 am - 1 pm. Katie and I will be going to Ana’s wedding and reception...should be a fun day!

Hiya Claudie, Don and Dr. T. Thanks for dropping by.

Claudie - Thank you. I did know about Alhana moving and since you had not mentioned anything about her since, I assumed you hadn't seen her. Guess the travel arrangements are not all that easy to make.

Skype is fantastic. The next best thing to being there and hugging in person. :) Very nice of your brother to give you the web cam.

Great that you're having another small family get together and getting a web cam all in the same day. I'm sure you all will enjoy the visit.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Don - Thank you. Yep, you did miss me. :) The way you shoot I guess I'm lucky. You would have hit me for sure. :)

That doesn't really make sense that you can ride that far and can't walk a short distance. Do you run out of air or do you just tire quickly when you walk? You seem to be in good shape otherwise.

Hope you're having a really nice day.

Dr. T - Thank you. I assume you're not allowed to have the trees cut down even if they're dying?

You have my curiosity up about the movie. No title, it's different and the California Movie Critic says it's really good. :) Can't wait until morning.

Have A Great Afternoon & Evening Everyone!

P.S. Lighting hope your day is going well. Take care.

Good Morning XP,

I covered pretty much all to you in TL, the author and my irrigation water.

You know the trees have been a big issue ever since I've lived here. Neighbor was sawing a dead limb off one of his trees yesterday and he was filling me in on what he was told as far as trimming and having any of the trees removed. NOT the latest I had heard from "the good guys." I'm sure glad I have none left in my yard. I look at the ones across the street and they continue to get taller and taller. If one of them comes down, and one day it will, it could reach my place. We're talking about the pines, many of which are dying and covered with fungus.

I need to get the movie set up this morning and figure out what I will say about it. It's different, not even a title.

Hope that your shopping today will keep you from spending time in the yard attending to what is attacking the "good guys" that are growing. You really have my curiosity up now as to what it looks like.

Good luck finding most of what you're after today.

Hi XP

Looks like I missed you yesterday.

Well not much going on today, so I guess I will do some target practicing. Got the grass cut yesterday.

No gym today my day off. I will have to ride bike tomorrow to keep in shape. I can ride 5 miles but I cant walk 200' do not know why? Doctors do not know either.

Have a safe smooth day

Good morning, XP,

Today will not be a stay-at-home day. :)

First let me mention this (I think I mentioned it before)...at the end of May, Alhana and her family moved to the Savannah, GA area, which is about 4 hours away, and we have not been able to have any visits from her.

Anyway the other day, I saw Son talking to her on his phone, but he was using Skype (I got to talk to her, too, for a coupla minutes). Anyway, I thought, I wanted to see about setting up Skype on this computer. I was going to purchase a web cam, but found out that my brother has a good one that I can have. So that brings me to today!

He already had plans to go visit Mom today, so we decided that I should come, too, and get the camera! Not only will I get to see Mom today, but I'll be able to see my brother and his family (which includes his daughter who is visiting from Baltimore....she's studying at John's Hopkins) AND get the camera! Son said he'd help me get the whole thing set up and we should be ready to go. :)

Can't wait.

Have a great day!

Hiya Claudie, Dr. T and Justin. Thanks for dropping by.

Claudie - Thank you. I see you went shoe shopping for the kids today too. Sounds like that went pretty well for all of you.

I like hearing you're sitting on the back porch. :) Guess that has to be in the mornings before it gets too hot.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Dr. T - Thank you. Nice picture of the begonias. Sure are pretty flowers.

Weeks seem to be flying by for some reason. I know what you mean about just having Monday and it's Friday already.

Well if the Chief Critic approves, it has to be a good one. :) If you've used that site before when I was here, it should work.

I'm not sure about taking pics of the weeds. They don't grow alone. They tend to invade lilac bushes, pine trees and even the elms. That puts them in the shade most of the time and tangled in with the trees and bushes. We will try though.

I have the same problem with my library. It's open 7 days a week but 10AM is opening time except for Sunday. Since it's closer to me than town, I prefer to stop on the way in.

That was a really good one today. I read it to C. this morning and we both got a good laugh. :)

Justin - Thank you. Sounds like working at Barney's affords you lots of exercise working grocery. Up and down the stairs would be quite a workout.

On the plus side, you get to work with Rev. Kevin when you're there. I'm sure he likes that.

Might not have been perfect and up to your normal standards, but you can only do what you have time to do.

Good for you with the 10 hours of sleep. Those stairs probably helped with that. :)

Looks like a nice bowling alley. I haven't been in one in years.

Hope everything is going smoothly for you today. Enjoy yourself.

Have A Great Evening Everyone!

P.S. Lighting hope your day is going well. Take care.

P.P.S. Don hope you're having a really nice day.

Good afternoon, EXPAPERMAKER! Because Jeff has been working Thursday's now, it's been hard to find a day that all four of us are all free. :( Usually ride nights happen because he will text me asking if I'm free. If I say yes, then he comes and picks me up. So rides are unexpected!

Today’s Picture:

Yesterday I worked a grocery shift at Barney’s. There was lots of work to be done and not enough help. After work, I made chicken alfredo for dinner.

Good Morning XP,
Photo of begonias from Kim Carlson, posted on the County web site.

Can it really be another Friday/weekend already? We just had a Monday.

I found a movie for Sunday from a site I haven't used for awhile. It has a youtube icon on the bottom which means that's an option but I'm hoping the movie, as posted, will be okay for you. It's different, but my best critic approves. :-)

The only weeds I've seen that think they are trees are maybe large tumble weeds. Can C. take a pic of them and send it to me? I'm curious.

I should be back from town when you read this. Not planning to be gone very long as not much to buy, but I do have several stops.
Would love to go early, but since the library doesn't open to 10:00, I have to wait.

A funny; my wood person says she will deliver my wood "earlish" on Tues, 9:30 or 10:00. I told her that's not early. She knows when I get up.

Continuing:
I have more blonde jokes that I will share, but there may be a brief hiatus.
------

One day, while a blonde was out driving her car, she ran into a truck.
The truck's driver made her pull over into a parking lot and get out of the car.

He took a piece of chalk and drew a circle on the pavement. He told her to stand in the middle and not leave the circle.

Furious, he went over to her car and slashed the tires.

The blonde started laughing.

This made the man angrier so he smashed her windshield.

This time the blonde laughed even harder.

Livid, the man broke all her windows and keyed her car.

The blonde is now laughing hysterically, so the truck driver asks her what's so funny.

The blonde giggles and replies, "When you weren't looking, I stepped out of the circle three times!"

Have a Fantastic Friday!

Good morning, XP,

I got lots of things done yesterday, but I need to finish them up today. There'll be some unexpected family time coming on both Saturday and Sunday, so I need to get done today whatever I can. More on that this weekend. :)

Out on to the back porch to sit with hubby while it's still cool. :)

Have a great day!

Hiya Lighting, iceeman99, Claudie, Don, Dr. T, and Justin. Thanks for dropping by.

Lighting - Thank you. Glad you have the ear protection. Ear plugs or ear muffs? Usually ear muffs are better at keeping out the noise and don't cause ear infections like plugs can. Good luck finding the mask. I don't blame you for not going back until you get all the equipment you need to protect yourself.

I'll say you must be having a sleeping problem. You told me "Good Morning" at almost 5PM. Sounds like you got all turned around. :)

Enjoy your ball games and movies and of course, the bikes. :)

Hope today is going well for you. Take care.

Claudie - Thank you. That is a cheap price for the grapes. Good idea going back before the sale ends. I do that too when they have a good price on something we really like.

Hope you are enjoying the rest of your day.

Don - Thank you. Nice here again too. We also need rain badly. If you find some, send it on up.

Normally would have mowed again tomorrow but it's so dry, I'm thinking about skipping it. I don't like getting lost in dust clouds and it's not good for the mower either. The grass is tall in spots but thin from lack of water.

Hope you're having a really nice day.

Dr. T - Thank you. Nice tranquil looking picture today.

Doesn't sound like they will be delivering the wood today. I see in TL that nobody has showed up or called yet.

Brush and some kind of monster weeds that think they are trees today. They spread like dandelions and grow at an ungodly rate. Nobody seems to know what they are but everybody around here has them. Not sure if that crap will even burn. It's kind of sappy and wet in the middle.

No you didn't tell me about the wipers and if you posted elsewhere, I missed it. I'm quite sure you're not imagining the noise nor can you be the only one that's ever had the problem.

That was another good joke today. Hadn't heard that one either. :)

Justin - Thank you. You're right. You guys do need to have your "family" dinner. You're getting way behind. :)

Poor grandma is really be sad to see them go. She was really getting some good eats as well as all the visits. She probably will need to rest up for a while though. :)

Another couple of busy shifts for you. Nice that your hours are up for next week too.

Glad to see you getting together with Jeff again. You probably have to find times that your busy meshes with his busy so your off times coincide. Might be hard to do.

Great picture of the family today with you in it finally. :)

Hope today is going smoothly for you. Enjoy yourself.

Have A Great Evening Everyone!

Good morning, EXPAPERMAKER! lol, I noticed how I posted right after you posted. I didn't want to come in the backdoor, so I came in right after you closed the frontdoor! Thanks for not locking it! Yeah, the money never really went missing, it just wasn't properly loaned out. Jan, Jeff, Tim, and I still need our dinner night. :(

Today’s Picture:
Family Lunch Pt. 2

Since my last update, I’ve worked two grocery shifts. Mom has had two shifts doing fruit cutting. I was able to catch up with Jeff on Tuesday night since we went on a nighttime drive together. Mom and I were able to go out to eat with family from Florida and Grandma at Red Lobster. Last night, Mom and I said our goodbyes to family from Florida.

Good Morning XP,
End of the day photo taken by Dan Wollin.

I would kinda like to know when my wood is coming. I suspect they did call back yesterday, perhaps while I was walking or on one of my quick ventures outside to pull a handful of weeds. I see rain on my window at the moment (5:50) so I don't think it will be today. Looks like a reading/walking inside day to me.

Rhonda says...?? She's been on as I hear her voice, but I have no idea what she is saying as noise only. :-)

Are you attacking more nuisance brush today. You could build a fire and roast marshmallows.

Did I post, I know I told KHF, that I had one of the gals I walk with listen to my wipers yesterday and she confirmed, thump, thump, thump? It wasn't raining but the rubber on the wipers might have been wet.

Continuing:

An overweight blonde went to see her doctor for some advice. The doctor advised that she run ten miles a day for thirty days. This, he promised, would help her lose as many as twenty pounds. The blonde followed the doctor's advice, and, after thirty days, she was pleased to find that she had indeed lost the whole twenty pounds. She phoned the doctor and thanked him for the wonderful advice which produced such effective results. At the end of the conversation, however, she asked one last question: "How do I get home, since I am now 300 miles away?"

Have a Thankful Thursday!

Good morning, XP,

Hubby's happy; while I was at the grocery store yesterday, I was able to get red grapes for 99¢/lb. We don't see that low a price very often or ever! I just might have to go back to Kroger on Monday or Tuesday and get some more blueberries and grapes (on sale) before the new sale week starts on Wednesday. :)

Have a great day!

Good Morning Dave, 86° partly cloudy sky.

I have the ear plug and am looking at the breathing mask. The only way I go back to work for Ray in his landscape business. Have to found a mask
to wear to keep the elements out. Can't keep breathing that carbon dioxide
from the backpack blower. It makes me sick like taking away my life.
I think that city need to make it mandatory that you wear a breathing mask.
When operating a backpack blower. Just my opinion.

Some how I'm back to crazy hour on sleeping. Was sleeping here and there
while watching tv. Not good. Have to get back on track on sleeping.

Watching B-ball and movies and Tour De France.

Enjoy your Wednesday while having fun in Life............

Hiya Claudie, Dr. T and Don. Thanks for dropping by.

Claudie - Thank you. That would be a shame if the game trip gets rained out but it's better they don't go and get wet.

Sounds like WM got beat on price a couple times. We don't usually buy fruit or produce there anyway. Our local market is more than competitive on price and it's mostly locally grown.

You're gonna have lots of blueberries but I'll bet they all get eaten. WTG on the Discount! Every little bit helps. I didn't go today. First one I've missed in a while.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Dr. T - Thank you. Pretty flower picture today.

You could get a cheap plastic tote and set it where it will catch runoff from your roof. You'll get more water that way and you can just dip it out into a sprinkling can or something when you need it.

Glad that you are getting the rain you wanted. Hope it does stop in time to keep you dry for the wood delivery tomorrow.

I've been out and likely will go out again when I'm done here. Kind of fun destroying nuisance brush. :)

That's another good one today. Had not heard that one either. :)

Don - Thank you. I am enjoying today. Much cooler and less humid than the last couple of days. Been working on cutting out some overgrown brush along the fence.

Hope you're having a really nice day.

Have A Great Evening Everyone!

P.S. Lighting hope your day is going well. Take care.

Good Morning XP,
Photo by Steve Power posted on the county web site.

I tossed a dish pan out on the porch for the heck of it to see if any rain collects in it. So glad to have the rain this morning. I hope it's continuing as you read this. With my wood coming Thursday morning it would be nice if the rain has stopped by then.

I hope your day is going well and you have been able to get out in the yard to do something, (besides taking out the dog).

Continuing:

A blonde and a brunette are skydiving.

The brunette jumps out the plane and pulls the cord -- nothing happens.

She pulls the emergency cord and still nothing.

The blonde finally jumps out of the plane and yells "Oh! So you wanna race, huh?"

Have a wild and wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning, XP,

Not sure if Mom will get to go to the baseball game tomorrow or not (it's a 12 noon start time); it's supposed to rain.

I thought I made a really good buy at WM yesterday (when I took Mom). I found blueberries for $2.49/pint; that was less than I had bought any before. So then I go online last night to see the grocery store's weekly ad, and what do I see? Blueberries for $1.87/pint! Sheesh! I'll pick up some more anyway and see if Daughter wants some (I know she probably will b/c Emma LOVES blueberries!). Red grapes are also on sale for 99¢:/lb and that's a great price, too!

I have several errands to run this morning, starting off with going back to WM to pick up a 'script for Mom (the doctor's office wasn't able to get it called in so we could pick it up, but, apparently now it's there and ready). After I go to her place, then I'll head back to the grocery store for my weekly shopping. Once I get back home, I might go to Daughter's house to visit for a short time. We'll see. :)

Have a great day!

hazy sunshine tweet

Hiya Justin, Claudie, Lighting, Don, and Dr. T. Thanks for dropping by.

Justin - No, no, no. Yesterday you were late and today you're early. In fact yesterday it looks like you were laying in wait for me to post since you did it 13 seconds after I finished for the day. :)

You have been busy with work and family. Good news about your mom's OT. She can use all she can get.

Nice work figuring out the missing money. I'll bet you're exactly right. It was done wrong to begin with and nobody else bothered to look.

Glad to see you have been keeping in touch with Mother Jan lately. I'm sure she enjoys that.

Sounds like grandma is getting visited to pieces. :) She is going to need a rest when they go back home. :)

Nice pics. That little kitty is cute. That was quite a pile you got rid of from the garage. Famiy pic is a good one. As usual grandma is digging in. The heck with the pictures. :)

Hope your day is going smoothly for you. Enjoy yourself.

Claudie - Thank you. That's good, getting a little rain each day. Would be nice if it did that here. We went for weeks with too much rain at one time and not we're dried out again. Haven't had any for over a week.

I'll say your mom is going to need a rest. That is a really busy week for her. Glad to see most things went smoothly for you with the WM outing today. Almost got it all taken care of.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Lighting - Thank you. I guess you did need a break from the yard work. Did you ever get your safety equipment? (Ear protection & mask)

Sounds like nice weather down there. A little rain now and then won't hurt anything. Better than none.

Hope your day is going well. Take care and enjoy your ball games.

Don - Thank you. Low 90's and an air quality alert here today. Too hot and stagnant air to boot. Nasty weather.

Hope everything went well for K. Just checking in for you since you already know what he has to say.

Good for you. A busy day and you still got in your workout before it started. You are really doing well. :)

Hope you're having a really nice day now, in the AC. :)

Dr. T - Thank you. That meese is cute. I've been hit by a few of those hoppers myself. :)

Collecting rain water is a good idea. Broken pump sounds more like it. Hard to believe that pond went dry after all these years. I hope they surprise you and fix it but I doubt it.

I think you're right about the stores. Choosing between them and the much more comfortable living conditions where you are, I would drive to the stores when needed and live right there. :) I don't like heat either.

That is a funny one today. C. will like that one. Had not heard it before either.

Have A Great Evening Everyone!

Good morning, EXPAPERMAKER! A x2 visit for me. :)

Today’s Pictures:

Family Lunch Pt. 1

Yesterday I worked 3:30 pm - 11:30 pm, in the office. Overall, it went well. There was $400 missing from the safe, however I think I found it in two of the drawers ($200 was not loaned out for each). Today Mom works 9 am - 1 pm, doing fruit cutting.

Good morning XP,
I brought up the irrigation water yesterday on the walk. I was told everyone is talking about it. No kidding. Knowing what I know I doubt we will get the water back since the pump won't be fixed. Hopefully I am very wrong. I might try to collect rain water. I know that L. is going to do that. Her yard is full of vegetation that needs watering. I got spoiled when we lived in the Valley as we had a well which meant we could maintain a green lawn.

Said this before, if only we had a HD here. I'd add "if only" other stores to that, too. But, I'll pick the cooler coast without the shopping choices compared to moving back to the Valley with stores and medical care, but the awful heat.

I hope your day is going well.

Continuing:

During late spring one year, a blonde was trying out her new boat. She was unable to have her boat perform, travel through water, or do any maneuvers whatsoever no matter how hard she tried.

After trying for over three days to make it work properly, she decided to seek help. She putted the boat over to the local marina in hopes that someone there could identify her problem.

Workers determined that everything from the engine to the outdrive was working perfectly on the topside of the boat. So, a puzzled marina employee jumped into the water to check underneath the boat for problems. Because he was laughing so hard, he came up choking on water and gasping for air. Under the boat, still strapped in place securely, was the trailer.

Enjoy a Terrific Tuesday!

Good morning, XP,

Yeah, happy feet. :)

We got a little bit more rain close to midnight last night. I checked the rain gauge this morning and we got another 3-tenths-of-an-inch. Not too bad. :) Sheesh! We go for a coupla weeks without getting ANY at all and now we're getting a good amount every day! <shakes head>

This is a busy going-out week for Mom (and the other residents of the ALF)...yesterday they went to a dollar store, today I'm taking her to WM, Thursday they're going to a minor league baseball game and Friday they're going out to eat at a country-style eating place. PLUS it's possible that my brother will be visiting her this weekend, and he usually takes her out to eat lunch somewhere also. And that doesn't even include any activities AT the ALF! Whew! She's going to need a rest! :)

Have a great day!

Hiya Dr. Tx2, Claudie, iceeman99, allanm, and Don. Thanks for dropping by.

Dr. T - Thank you twice. The markings are the same around the eyes, except that it's that little feller's natural coloring. My darkening around the eyes was dirt. :)

Nice picture of the heron waiting for dinner.

I only have experience with the HD here. You're lucky you have access to a good one.

Shame about the water. I suppose it was just a flat statement that there would be no more. No wiggle room at all.

My produce and meat both come from the local store and always have. We added the other big box store, Meijer's, because of sale items and availibility. They fill in the holes for WM's lack of stock.

Had not heard that joke as a blond joke. Heard it as a bear hunting joke many moons ago. Still funny. :)

Claudie - Thank you. That's quite a bit of rain in two days with more on the way I hear. Your grass should be happy now.

Didn't realize that it had been that long ago that Neil walked on the moon. I watched it too. It was just after I got out of the Navy.

I see your out and about went well for you earlier. Now you take those happy feet outside and dance in the rain. :)

Enjoy the rest of your day.

iceeman - Enjoy your GB birthday. :)

allan - Thank you. It has been quite some time since you stopped here. I follow your adventures in TL and VA Beach.

That does sound like an interesting book. I added it to notebook and will check on availibility. Thanks again.

Don - Thank you. Hope your stitches came out OK. Now don't do that again. :)

I hear you on the temps. Getting close to 90 here now and tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 90's. Maybe Wednesday rain here too. Doesn't sound real promising though.

All right. You get to eat something from your little garden. I bet they will be good.

Hope you're having a really nice day in the AC.

Have A Great Evening Everyone!

P.S. Lighting hope your day is going well. Take care.

Hi XP, I think it has been a very long time since I have been to visit. I finished a book recently that you might like, available in paperback and audio versions as well. Cyberstorm by Matthew Mather - in development with 20th Century Fox for a movie as well.

This is a story about a internet cyber attack that brings down communications in many parts of the world with huge impacts, with the story focused on the US, but mostly on Manhattan in New York. Along with communications and power going down, a series of bad snow storms come in crippling New York, trapping millions of people in Manhattan, left trying to find food, water, medical supplies - and trying to survive the cold with no heat. Rumors about cyber attacks by many other countries, and invasion by Chinese are all part of the plot.

This is a well written story that is very plausible if an event like this ever actually happened, with our dependence on the internet, and power for accessing and managing so many parts of life and all that we depend on for military, police and other emergency services, and management of power stations and other utilities.

Good Morning XP,
The caption reads, "Blue Heron waiting for breakfast to swim by…"
Photo taken by Ken Gagne.

I disagree. I'll take a combo of walking and sitting in front of one of these things as long as for me, it includes all the visiting I do.

I only have experience with two HD's and the other is larger, busier and further away so I don't often go there.
The one on Saturday is the store that replaced my defective lamp on my say so. That was sure a surprise.

You said it about the pump, not me, but you may have hit it on the nose. Would say more but not here. Our driest months are ahead, too.

That's too bad about your grocery shopping. I agree with you about Wal Mart. No way would I buy meat there. As you know I don't buy produce there. I buy my tea and that's about it.

If you're house bound enjoy the extra reading.

Blonde jokes this week.
I chose ones that I haven't heard.

Two blondes had driven across the country to see Disney World in Florida.

As they approached it and got onto the final stretch of highway, they saw a sign saying "Disney World Left!"

After thinking for a minute, the driver blonde said "Oh well!" and started driving back home.

Happy Monday!

Good morning, XP,

It pretty much rained most of the day yesterday (just like Saturday). We ended up getting about another inch, and that makes the total about 2½ inches for Saturday and Sunday. Wow! Everything's so wet! Good thing this wasn't the scheduled Monday for the yard guy to come; we'd definitely have to reschedule!

Did you know that yesterday was the 45th anniversary of man first walking on the moon? I sure remember watching the TV with my family when Neil Armstrong got out and and took those first steps!

Well, I'm going back out and about today! Looks like any rain is supposed to be for this afternoon, so I should stay dry. I've got an appointment at the nail salon and then a coupla places to stop on the way home. It should be an good morning out. :)

Have a great day!

Hiya Justin, Claudie, Don, and Dr. T. Thanks for dropping by.

Justin - Thank you. That was nice that all of you, including grandma, were able to meet for lunch. I know grandma enjoyed it.

Sounds like they're cracking down on the hours again. Bet you get some OT anyway staying over at least once during that week.

That was good getting rid of the old chemicals and stuff from the garage. Nice that you have someplace that will accept it.

Nice pics today. Good one of you even you did close your eyes. :)

Hope today is going smoothly for you. Enjoy yourself.

Claudie - Thank you. 1½" is definitely good. I see it started to rain a little bit for you again today too.

Cool rain should mean porch swing time for sure. :)

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Don - Thank you. Good news that the c-scan had good results. I'm sure that made you feel better.

Summer is coming back up here too. Stagnant air, heat and humidity for the next 3 days at least. Yuck!

Hope you're having a really nice day.

Dr. T - Thank you. Walking is better than sitting in front of one of these things.

Oh well, the wiper saga continues. You tried and you're right, you have plenty of time to get it checked and hopefully fixed. Too hot there now anyway.

Sounds like they don't want to bother with the pump anymore. Hard to believe the pond is dry. You do usually get plenty of rain so your grass should be OK.

All the HD's can't be bad or they wouldn't make the money they do. Ours is due mostly to the type of people that live around here that work there. They are not friendly and usually not all that helpful either unless you happen to be one of their friends.

Going to the other two stores will likely be a normal thing for the rest of the summer anyway. The one bigger one usually has sale items that we use and the smaller local one has local produce and the best meat, also mostly local. Never know what country WM's stuff comes from and most I would not eat.

We do need rain. The ground is very hard and dry. I looked like a raccoon from all the dust and dirt flying when I mowed. My orange tractor was brown when I finished. We don't need storms, just a nice rain a couple times a week.

Very nice movie this week. We both enjoyed the music and the beautiful pictures. Didn't take too long to load either. About normal for one that length.

Have A Great Afternoon & Evening Everyone!

P.S. Lighting hope your day is going well. Take care.

Good Morning XP,
I can't believe I did not stop here yesterday, but instead of sitting on the computer for rounds before we left I got in my first two miles of walking.

Now, squeaky and thumper. The Service dept is open on Saturday, but it was a skeleton group. The counter gal was very pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. I will make an appointment to have the wipers checked when it is cooler over there and hopefully a day that I can have lunch with my son. Since they are guaranteed for a year, I have time. I bought them in March.

Also wanted to tell you that for now we have no more (free) irrigation water. No, we don't have to pay, meaning the pond is dry and the pump can't pump. This had NEVER happened before and we've had drier periods over the years I've lived here. We do have our thoughts about it. Enough said.
I will use the house water for my plants, naturally, but I'm not paying to water the grass. Suppose to rain later this week.

I hear what you're saying about HD causing the smaller stores to close. All I can do is repeat my experience at the one we visited yesterday. Good visiting with several clerks which was certainly better than sitting in the car in the 90° heat while I waited for L.

How did your shopping trip go yesterday? Do you need to stop again today to buy what wasn't available?
Sure nice to come home with some produce yesterday.
You should have smelled the aroma of all the melons at the one booth. I didn't think melons would be ripe this early. I bought one for me and on for the neighbor.
My memory may not be as good, but I did remember that $.90 lb was $.10 lb more than last year. Gal said I was right.

Hope you get your rain if you really and truly want it.Your Sunday Movie is, Ready For The Storm, based on a song by the same name which was written and performed by Rich Mullins, a Christian Rock singer from the eighties and the nineties, according to Steve Politte.

There is no text except the final frame so you can listen to the words and watch the graphics without having to read text.

I know you're going like this one.
Enjoy!

Good morning, XP,

Well, we did pretty good in the rain department yesterday; it rained off-and-on all day, and we ended up getting an inch-and-a-half in the rain gauge. Nice! :) More is predicted for today, too.

No plans to go out today. More porch time maybe :)

Have a great day!

Hiya Justin and Claudie. Thanks for dropping by.

Justin - Thank you. Sounds like you had a nice visit with the relatives especially your cousin Jenna.

I'm sure grandma is really happy now. She gets visited every day by someone and you're right about the food, she definitely likes that. :)

Busy shift for you as usual. Thanks for the explanation about the backstock.

That was really nice of you to mow the neighbor's lawn too. Sounds like he is nice also and a real neighbor, not just someone that lives next door.

Nice pic of quite a pile of bread. Don't usually see it altogether like that.

Hope everything is going smoothly for you today. Enjoy yourself.

Claudie - Thank you. I see at your place that you're up to ¾" of rain in your gauge now. That will really make your grass happy. :)

Enjoy your rainy day.

Good morning, XP,

It started raining some time over night, and rained pretty hard (it seemed) at times. When I checked the rain gauge just a while ago, there was about 3-tenths-of-an-inch in it. Looking outside and seeing how drenched everything looks, I would have thought there would be more in the rain gauge. Oh, well, it's better than nothing! The good news is that it's supposed to rain off and on pretty much all day. Happy grass!

Have a great day!

Hiya Claudie, Dr. T, iceeman99, and Don. Thanks for dropping by.

Claudie - Thank you. That is a nice way to start your day. Swinging together in the cool. :)

Hopefully the soreness won't last long so you will be able to tell if the chiro did you any good.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Dr. T - Thank you. I thought you might have stayed in bed a little longer. Didn't see you before I got off this morning.

There must be others that have a problem with their wipers. You can't be the only one. They should be able to tell you if there is anything they can do about it.

HD may be fine other places, I don't know. Our particular store however, is lousy. I hold a grudge because they replaced the KMart that was there originally and it was a good store. All the local hardware stores closed within a year of its opening and I really miss them.

Thanks for the good wishes for the tractor. Considering who worked on it, I need all the help I can get. :)

Got just what I went for this morning at the store. Bought burger and a couple things for C.

By the way she really liked the murres. Very pretty little birds.

Don - Thank you. Nice temps for you today. A little cooler here and I'm liking that too. Going to get my yard mowed today finally. Had to fix my mower deck. Wore out an idler pulley. 14 years isn't bad wear though.

That isn't bad shooting for a .38. Rapid fire and all. I haven't fired anything since I got out of the service except my BB gun to discourage squirrels and my pellet rifle to get rid of crows.

Gym workout and breakfast about covers the morning. Do something that's enjoyable for you later. :)

Hope you're having a really nice day.

Have A Great Afternoon & Evening Everyone!

P.S. Lighting hope your day is going well. Take care.

Got grass cut yesterday did a little painting on some landscaping trim. Went out target practicing with my 38, hit bulls eye 10 out of 25 not bad. Tried rapid fire did not do real bad hit target 3x5, 30 times out of 50 at 75'. Got to practice more often.

Today I got my gym workout in, breakfast done. I do not know what I am going to do the rest of the day. I am sure something will come up.

Good Morning XP,
I'm finding I have a little more time this morning than I thought. I even stayed in bed an extra hour like I do on Saturday, but no I didn't sleep and nothing on TV except the plane crash.

Tomorrow I want to go to the dealer to ask them, once again, about squeaky and thumper, and they open early on Saturday, too. Trouble is the wipers only act up when it's raining. They work fine on the dry glass. Funny! :-)
Then it's Saturday market and from there, who knows except L wants to go to your favorite store, HD.

Meanwhile, I need to attend to my 29 stops today.

May all go well with your tractor and mowing today, as well as your stop at the store for the 12 hour sale.
