Good morning, JM,

Another loss for the Falcons. Heads are going to roll soon, I betcha! :(

It's going to kinda be a busy day for us. First the yard guy will come and take care of things, and then hubby will be going with me to a consultation about some dental work I'm probably going to have done. That appointment is at 2:30 up near where Mom lives. Hope it's not too long.

Have a good day!

trevor - Good morning and hi de ho.

Dino - Yes, I had a fun full weekend. I will have mow my lawn sometime this week, not sure if this will be my last. Congratulations to Emily again for her outstanding academic achievements. Have a great day.

Good evening JM

Looked like your weekend was packed. Love the fb pictures. I believe it was homecoming weekend for Parkersburg South as well.

Slow weekend for me. Got the yard mowed for the last time this season. Tried to run the gas out of the mower and will look into added some Staybill that my Dad recommended. He's my lawn mower expert.

Wanted to touch base about my long Thursday. Emily's Parent Teacher Conference went well. She is sitting on 4 A's and 4 B's with one of the B's being a 92%. A 93% is needed for an "A". Grades close this week for the first nine week grading period of the year. Got to pick her brain as we were in there for over an hour. This was one of my only chances to see what she's doing in school and how she's doing it. I love going to the basketball games, but I've tried to emphasize that the grades come FIRST. As I told her in a text "Good Grades=Basketball."

Speaking of basketball, will have two teams to follow this up and coming season. The first one is obvious as the Lady Bobcats will take the court in about 6 weeks. Probably less. The second one is the Knights of the Middlebourne Youth League. Dylan has signed up to play again this year so it'll be two sets of games to go to. Yes, I'm giddy about this. Another team we'll be watching is the Lady Patriots of Parkersburg South High School. Their starting lineup from last year will return this year as Seniors. They should be poised to make another run for the state title in class triple A. I promised Emily we'd go to Charleston if they go back to the title game.

Cooler days for us. Daytime temps in the 50s. Daybreak not until after 7 AM right now. Back to work tonight for me. Have a great Monday buddies.

Claudie - Good morning. We will attend Wheat Street Baptist Church today, this is where my cousin is pastor and a Morehouse graduate. We had a nice time on yesterday, we did not win the game against Albany State from Albany Ga, but, we had a great time.

Good morning, JM,

What a gorgeous day it was yesterday for the open house/festival at the ALF! Sunshiny (and a blue-blue sky), about 75° and a slight breeze. Nice!

It was just hubby and me who showed up there from my family, but we had a good time sitting with Mom, just talking, visiting with other residents and their families, and, of course, eating lunch. It felt so good to just be sitting out in that wonderful sunshine!

I saw your pix on FB of you guys at the game. So who won?

I am staying home today. I have a few 'things' to finish up, and then hubby and I will be watching (on TV) the Falcons play in Baltimore at 1 PM; he'll check out the race at commercial times. :) Other than that, no other special plans. :)

Have a great Sunday!

Good morning, JM,

Today is the ALF's Fall Festival, and, thank goodness, it's going to be a gorgeous day for it...sunny and about 75°. Hubby and I will be going about 11 and staying for a while. It's always great to see everybuddy having such a fun time. :)

Good luck to Morehouse today! Who do they play?

Have a great day!

Good morning, JM,

Another nice day is predicted for here today: sunny, cool (in the high 60s-low70s) and dry. A great day for the ALF to take the residents to the farm they were supposed to visit on Tuesday. Mom is soooo looking forward to this trip!

Me? I'll just stay home again today and enjoy this day. :)

Hope you're on the way to Atlanta by now. Have a safe trip and a fun time!

Good evening JM

I am about 50/50 on the week right now. Thank goodness it's Thursday.

Dino's Jukebox time and we want to take the time to welcome our newest affiliate to the Jukebox, The Alberta Chinook Hideout in Alberta, Canada. A big jukebox welcome to our neighbors to the north.

Tonight's selection comes from a guy who got his start, like Phil Collins, with the band Genesis. He was lead singer, but because the band couldn't afford a good sound system, you couldn't understand him. Because of this, he wore lavish costumes to garner attention. He was inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame twice. In 2010 as a member of Genesis and in 2014 as a soloist. A lot of his music videos are unique including his 1986 smash, "Sledgehammer" which won him a record nine MTV Video Awards in 1987. The video remains to this day to be one of the most played videos on MTV.

This tune was this gentleman's first release as a soloist in 1977 and peaked at #13 in the UK, but only got as high as #68 in the US.

P - Peter Gabriel - "Solsbury Hill"

Have a great weekend buddies. See you Sunday night.

Good morning, JM,

I didn't hear of any injuries from the storms here; only in other states.

I DID hear on the news, though, that there were 5 confirmed tornadoes around the metro area, nit just 2! :( 2 of them were EF! and the other 3 were EF0. None close to me, though. Whew!

I sure am glad about my plans for the day...just staying home. :)

Have a great day!

Good evening JM

I think I've heard of the term "Mathlete" before.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be a productive day. When I leave work in the morning, I'm driving back to Parkersburg to try another part on the Dodge this one at no cost to me. Once I drop the car off, I'll be off to Mom and Dad's for a few hours of sleep and then back to Emily's school by 3:30 for her annual Parent Teacher Conference. I have prepared some questions and notes because I intend to pick E's brain on this. She is doing well with 4 A's and 4 B's. The state had signed on to a program called Live Grades. It's an online gradebook which I check very regularly. It's a great tool to have living an hour away. Once all is done, it's back home then off to work for what is my Friday.

As promised, early entries for Dino's Jukebox. Consider these as runner ups to tomorrow night's selection. Here's a hint, one of the artists tonight was a former bandmate of tomorrow night's "P" selection. Music please....

Paula Abdul - "Straight Up"

Paul Simon - "You Can Call Me Al"

Philip Bailey & Phil Collins - "Easy Lover"

Enjoy, see you tomorrow night.

Good morning, JM,

Whooeee! What a weather day it was here yesterday! We ended up totally getting about 3.5 inches of rain (in about a 12-hour period; the rain finally stopped mid-afternoon)! Wow! We didn't get much wind at all, though, so not much debris on the ground, just a bunch of leaves. There was a confirmed EF1 tornado in a city northwest of Atlanta and possibly another one somewhere else on the west side; it was a smaller one, though...an EF0. ANY tornado is too much for me! Anyway, looking forward to a clearer day today and some drying out.

There was a possibility that the schools around here were going to be delayed, but the worst of the weather was gone by the time the school started. Whew!

Hubby and I left to go to the vet appointment a little early yesterday (b/c of the rain); got there at 9:40 for a 10 o'clock appointment. Lo and behold....we were in and out before 10! Kitty got checked out and had 2 shots, got a prescription refill and we were on our way! Have never been in and out THAT fast at the vet's before! Don't know if the weather had anything to do with it, but I don't care!

Looking forward to a sunny day today, (I hope); got several outing to take care of....nail salon, Mom's and then Kroger for groceries and a gas fill-up. It's going to be a busy one!

Have a great day!

Claudie - The storms was pretty fierce, school start was delayed by two hours. Mostly, we just had heavy rain and high wind. Today, it will be cooler with highs only reaching the low 60s.

trevor - Good morning and hi de ho.

Dino - My college homeconing is this weekend so we will spend Friday through Sunday in Atlanta enjoying the game and many campus events. I will miss the Thursday lecture by one of the groups I am part of and that is the mathletes. I hope that your week is going well.

Good evening JM

You know where I'm coming from, exactly.

Let me just say one more thing in reference to last night's post. I don't hate this guy I blocked. I don't think he's that bad of a guy. I'm sure you guys will agree on that. Having my real name posted here was one that really crossed the line. I hated to do it, but felt it was in my best interest both here and at FB.

I want to thank everyone who has message me over the last couple of days as well. This is a great group of people and I enjoy "talking" to each and every one of you. It's hard to believe that in January I'll have been on GB for a decade and posting in these forums for about 7 years. That's a long time when you're talking the internet.

Finally, as you've probably noticed, I've changed my avatar picture. Those who know me at FB know this is my current profile picture as well. This was taken a few weeks ago after one of Emily's basketball games. It's one of my recent favorites of us and it was only fitting. THIS was my social network before I was on FB or even big on Myspace.

Looking to be a rainy and windy night, but the temps are mild. Still in the mid 60s here. This could be my last night wearing shorts to work for the season. We'll wait and see.

As a thanks, I'm doing some Dino's Jukebox extras tomorrow night as well. Several great artists beginning with P and thought I'd play the runner ups tomorrow night. See you then buddies.

Dino - Yes, I do share the same birthday with Kia and I hope that she enjoyed her special day as much as I did. I agree about the crowd I keep here and on facebook, I do not want to waste my time ready negative posts. I had to block a personal friend of mine because he kept talking politic and I warned him, numerous time. Well, enjoy your day.

Good evening JM

Thanks. I believe you and Kia share the same birthday.

Busy last night and missed my rounds around here. Let me address something right here and now.

I have blocked a buddy on these pages. To be fair, I will not say who. I kept them around because they provided a unique insight to things much like we all do here. We come from different parts of the country and all have different backgrounds. However, I was getting several notifications from them going on about how they were irked at this buddy or that buddy and how they were being banned from the message boards and from the various white boards on our profiles. I decided enough was enough and blocked them here and over at facebook.

I do appreciate the heads up some of you have given me today and have done the appropriate actions in this matter. While we do talk a lot on here about our lives, I prefer to keep things upbeat and positive as possible here without being over the top snarky. I have loved getting to know a lot of you on here, and am not asking for you to take sides on this issue. I'll take care of this and will take further action if needed.

For now, let's focus on what matters here. Being buddies and saving people money on gas. Thanks for listening.

Good morning, JM,

Emma's team won their game yesterday, I think their record is now 5 and 1, with 3 games left.

I'll be staying home today, as far as I know and plan. Daughter will be probably be stopping over for a short visit; she has to return my cat carrier (she had to use it Friday, and I need it for Tuesday) and will probably want to look at the Jake-and-Emma pix. In the meantime, I'll just finish up whatever I have to do and then watch the Falcons game at 4:30 PM (ET) with hubby. They're playing at home against the Chicago Bears; we're not going b/c I have a friend who wanted to know if he could buy my tickets and go to the game. I said, "Sure! What the heck!" I don't mind letting another Falcon fan enjoy the experience of a home game. :)

Have a great day!

Good morning, JM,

That sounds like a GOOD birthday celebration! :)

We won't be going to Emma's game today b/c it's not here in town this week; it's also a noontime game. I have lots of things to do around the house and then at about 11, I'm going to meet the gal who took the kids' pix on Tuesday. Can't wait to get those pictures! :)

Have a great day!

Claudie - Thank you for the birthday wishes, it was a great day for me. On yesterday, the family took me out for a late lunch at Chaddar's and later that day, they sung Happy Birthday to me over an ice cream cake. They gave me gifts (shirts, socks, and coffee) and I just rested. What a wonderful day I had.

Good morning, JM,

Happy, happy birthday to you!! May you have many, many more! Anything special on tap for you today?

I have a real easy time remembering when your birthday is b/c it's also my son's birthday! :)

No rain here yesterday; in fact, I don't think it rained much at all around the metro area, except for maybe to the northwest of the city. My sister-in-law lives in Austell and she said it absolutely poured there and they got some hail.

Hoping to get my pictures from the kids photo session (on Tuesday) back today or tomorrow. When I do, I'll make a GB album to share.

Mom is so excited! They're going to Olive Garden for lunch today! She loves going out to places to eat!

I am going to my final appointment for this week! Yay! I have to go to the doctor's office to get my blood work results (and a prescription refill). Hoping for some good numbers, esp. the glucose one, which was just a few points high the last time (6 months ago). While I'm in that area, too, I will drop off our aluminum cans at a local fire station for them to recycle. That should be it for today!

Have a great day!

Dino - First, I like to wish Kia a happy birthday and a congratulations for her outstanding academic success. Speaking of the Oak Ridge Quartet, I live just a few miles from Oak Ridge Tn for many years, just about 15 to 20 miles away. Have a great day.

Good evening JM

First and foremost a big announcement. We have a birthday in a family. Mrs. K's Daughter, Kia (pronounced with a long I, not like the car) will be turning 17 tomorrow. She was born early and wasn't very big when she was born in 1997. Today, you'd never guess it. She's a very bright girl and just recently scored a 4.0 (straight A) report card.

On to tonight's edition of Dino's Jukebox. This group started out as a Gospel group called the Oak Ridge Quartet in the 1940s. They would switch their focus to Country in the 1970s where they'd have their greatest commercial success. The tune tonight was not written about a woman, but rather a street in East Tennessee. It was written by Dallas Frazier and his version, released in 1966, only got as high as #72 on Billboard's charts. The song was reborn by tonight's jukebox group in 1981 where they'd take the song to #5 on the Billboard Pop Charts, and #1 on the Billboard Country Charts. Get ready to sing along with Richard Sterban on this one. Giddy up....

Good morning, JM,

Lots of rain lately where you are (and even in north GA). It's all staying there; none south of Atlanta.

Not much going on for me this morning. I have a 10:30 dental appointment (6 month check up) and that is it. :)

Have a great day!

Claudie - Good morning. I was in the office and it was raining hard yesterday morning, so I did not see the lunar eclipse. I did see pictures the folks posted. Have a great day.

munchkins mom - Good morning. We have the car inspection here in Chattanooga, once a year for $10 bucks. I hope it went well for the car. Enjoy your day.

Hi JM, today is car inspection day for my husband. I thought we'd have time for the end of weed collection this afternoon but I guess not.

Good morning, JM,

Yay! I got to see the lunar eclipse this morning! It was very clear outside, so that wasn't a problem; I was afraid, since the moon was setting, that I wouldn't be able to see it b/c it was behind the trees surrounding our property. However, I found several places between the trees that I could clearly see that red moon. :)

Yes, the gumbo was good. :)

I set up a photography session with a local gal (to get pix of Jake and Emma) for yesterday. I met with Daughter and the kids and the photographer and her husband (he sets up most of the poses for the pix) in town at 6 PM yesterday evening, and they got lots of good pictures of the kids. Can't wait to see them. :)

I am going to the chiro this morning, and then to the grocery store afterwards. Gotta get that senior discount! :)

Have a great day!

Claudie - Good morning. I am a fan of gumbo; I hope that you enjoyed it. We will be in Atlanta for the next two weekend.

trevor - Good morning and hi de ho.

Dino - I may have watched Double Dare once or twice in my life; however, I am pretty sure my kids were regulars. Nickelodeon did not exist in my childhood; though, I have sat with my children as they watched shows from that station. I do know the game. I hope that you have had a great week, my friend.

HouHrl - Good morning.

Good evening JM

Back again with the inside on another of my favorite game shows. This time, the best kid's game show, Double Dare which celebrated it's anniversary debuting on kid channel Nickelodeon October 6, 1986.

The game itself was hosted by Marc Summers which you may have seen on various programs on the Food Network. The game had a "Beat The Clock" feel to it only messier. It started with a simple toss up stunt where the winner got starting control of the round. Marc would then ask a trivia question to the team in control. Teams consisted of two kids each. The team could either answer the question or dare the other team to answer for double the points. The other team would then either answer the question or double dare the original team for four times the points. The original team then had to either answer the question or take a physical challenge for the points.

Physical challenges is where the "Beat The Clock" element came into play. Stunts included catching pies in an oversized pair of pants, or possibly filling a glass strapped to your head with water or slime in a short period of time.

The leaders after two rounds of play went on to the Double Dare Obstacle Course. Where several other obstacles such as the "Kid Wash" or "Sundae Slide" were ran through for several prizes. The object was to complete all 8 obstacles in under 60 seconds.

The show ran from 1986-1992 on Nickelodeon. It had other spinoffs such as Family Double Dare where the game was played by four people (a Mom and Dad and kids), and Super Sloppy Double Dare where the game was played with messier challenges. A revival with a new host was brought on to the network in 2000 called appropriately Double Dare 2000. This one ran a lot slower than the original and was short lived running just a few episodes.

The original was rated by TV Guide as one of the 50 greatest game shows of all time and had a great set up and staff. Just one of those shows that seemed impossible to duplicate.
