Good morning, JM,

Wow! Such great gas prices you have! As you know, the metro area isn't there yet, but we'll get there...soon, I hope.

Traffic (yesterday on the trip for Mom's appointment) was only challenging when I was going back home for the final leg of the trip; I ended up going back roads to avoid the interstate. Thank goodness, I knew what roads to take!

Son and Alhana got back here about 10 last night; it was soooo good to see her! It was just a short time together, though, since everybuddy pretty much went to bed after that (both Son and Alhana had gotten up about 6 yesterday morning for work and school).

Another busy day here...Daughter will be bringing Jake and Emma over about 11:30; we'll take the kids out to eat and play at a local fast food place, and then bring them back here for a few hours of spend-together time. The plan is for Son to take Jake and Emma back home mid-afternoon; when he (and probably Alhana) get back, we'll 'do' Alhana's Christmas. After that, I'll probably need to rest up for the rest of the day! :)

Have a great day!

Check out our gas prices; prices in my neighborhood.

Claudie - Good morning. I hope that traffic wasn't too bad on yesterday when you were taking your mother to the doctor and back. Have a great day.

Good morning, JM,

Gas is under $2.00/gallon in your town? Nice! None here yet in the metro area, but they're getting there....slowly but surely. However I am NOT complaining about the prices we have!

Today is the start of some busy, busy days for me!

I'll be taking Mom (this morning) to see the heart doctor for the follow-up appointment to her visit to the hospital. It's going to be a chore b/c I couldn't get an appointment at the facility right across the street from her. Instead the appointment is here in my town. So! I have to go get Mom, bring her back to my town for the appointment, then take her back home, and THEN I come back home! Whew! Hoping to see about getting something to help keep Mom's sodium stay up.

Thankfully then I get to stay home. However Son will be going down to meet Alhana's mom (about 2 hours from here) and bringing Alhana back to stay with us until Tuesday. Surely looking forward to that! :)

Claudie - Good mornning. I am happy to hear that your mother's physical therapy session went well. Oh by the way, gas has been under $2.00/gal here since Monday. Sam's gas is selling at $1.94/gal...cool.

Dino -Thanks for sharing the youtube Christmas carols, "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby is one of my favorites. Have a great day.

Good evening JM

Just posted a few more in the album. All courtesy of my buddy Robin. More great shots from their home floor.

Adding on to my post on my rounds. Four new pictures up on the Lady Bobcats Album. I'll post the link as a second posting here.

Just pulled in from Parkersburg (about a 2 hour drive). Emily's choir concert was tonight. Made sure to get a few shots of Emily in the choir robe as 7th and 8th graders wear. 119 total vocalists tonight among this group. They sounded great. Got video of the first two songs, then when I was going for "Carol Of The Bells" my phone stated it was out of memory.

As promised some various Christmas tunes tonight. Dino's Jukebox will pick up on December 28th with the "Y" artist. The countdown will resume Sunday night with #3.

We start with the best selling Christmas tune of all time. Enjoy.

Bing Crosby - "White Christmas"

Bob Seger - "Little Drummer Boy"

Perry Como - "Frosty The Snowman"

Brenda Lee - "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree"

Pentatonix - "Carol Of The Bells"

Enjoy. Have a great weekend

Good morning, JM,

Mom had her first physical therapy session yesterday, and according to her, it went well. Boy, she said! Was she ever tired afterwards. Apparently the therapist did some leg exercises for about 20 minutes and lastly had Mom walk from one end of the hallway to the other end and then back to her room (the hallway is quite long, too). The next session is supposed to be on Monday.

I am staying home today. Have many, many things to do as this is pretty much the only day to do them. The next week basically has no days 'off,' so it's gotta be today! Hoping I can get hubby to help. <crossing fingers>

Have a great day!

Claudie - Good morning. Thank you, I will tell Alex about your comments regarding her band performance. We are not too far from Rock City, Rock City is just a few miles from downtown Chattanooga, it is about a tad over 30 minutes from our home. I have not been to Rock City since I was a child. though we do visit Lookout Mountain and drive past Rock City about four to five times a year. I hope that your mother continue to receive good help from that lady.

trevor - Good morning and hi de ho.

Dino - Good morning. I have accepted you as a buddy so now I will be able to see the pictures. I will give you comments on my next post. Have a great day.

Good evening JM

Agreed night shots are not the easiest to capture. Figured out why you couldn't see the pictures here. We're not buddies on here. That was an easy fix. I just sent you a buddy request.

First of all thanks for the comments over at Emily's new album. More pictures to come as the season progresses.

Some sn*w is approaching the area tonight. Cooler as well with temps around 30 F/-1 C. They're calling for a big storm coming next week just in time for Christmas.

Since I am doing the Christmas countdown, I will not do the regular Dino's Jukebox tune tomorrow night. Instead, I'll take care of a few requests and play the tune by the "Y" artist on December 28th.

Tonight's countdown tune comes with the various Christmas stories and movies in mind. A classic tune from Thurl Ravenscroft. He was the famous voice for Tony the Tiger on the box of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes (They're Grrrrrrreat!!!). He has quite a filmography including singing the "No Dogs Allowed" song on Snoopy Come Home, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Lady And The Tramp and a handful of Dr. Seuss movies and specials. Among those include Thing One on the Cat in a Hat, the Wickersham Brother on Horton Hears A Who, and another famous movie involving Whos. One I just happened to watch this evening starring Jim Carey. The mean one who stole Christmas comes in at number four:

Good morning, JM,

I also saw you pix/videos on FB (of the Rock City visit)> The band sounded good. :) BTW, just wondered, how far are you from Rock City?

Everything went quite well yesterday with me taking Mom to WM; she ended up having to walk from the handicap parking place into WM b/c the greeter didn't see us, but, thank goodness, she HAD 'put aside' a motorized cart for Mom. Mom got all her shopping done and rode the cart right back out to the car. :)

I am so happy and pleased with the help this lady has given to Mom that I RACKed her (Random Act of Christmas Kindness) and gave her a gift card to go eat out. She was so humbled. She is also so great! :)

Stopped off at the post office on my way home yesterday. The parking lot was again FULL, but surprisingly the 2 lines moved quickly. I guess I only ended up waiting in line about 10 minutes, which wasn't really bad at all.

It's a shopping day for me today! Many stops to make, trying to make sure I get everything finished up for Christmas. Not a bad morning, though. :)

Have a great day!

Claudie - Good morning. We had a blast at Rock City, the lights were out of site. Alex's middle school band performed and they were great. Enjoy your day.

Dino - You are correct, it is difficult to capture lights on a phone camera. It was a nice evening at Rock City, we are going to another display of lights before Christmas. I clicked on to your link to the Lady Bobcats; however, nothing was there. I will try again later. Have a great day.

Good evening JM

Seen your pictures of Rock City at FB. Christmas lights are not always easy to capture with a camera. What you'll see on this album are what you have seen on FB as well. Robin has been gracious to tag me in the ones of Emily.

As mentioned last night, I have some photos to share with you all of Emily's games so far. Everything posted so far comes courtesy of my friend and former co worker, Robin. She's very good at these. Last night they played Parkersburg Catholic and came out with a 38-6 victory over the Crusaders. Emily had a career high 6 points in the game. The Lady Bobcats are now 1-1 on the fresh new season.

Before I forget, here's the link to get to the Lady Bobcat album. These are visible to buddies only. If you're not a buddy already, send me a request.

2014-15 Lady Bobcats

Now, tonight's countdown tune as we now sit 8 days away from Christmas. There's a lot to say about tonight's artist as he is considered the King of Rock N' Roll. I grew up listening to this one as he was one of my Mom's favorites. I was only a young lad at age 5 when we lost him, but 37 years later his legacy and music are alive and well.

Good morning, JM,

How was your trip to Rock City?

This morning I'm taking Mom to WM (she insisted); it'll be the first time I've taken her out anywhere since the last hospital visit. I'll be honest; I am kinda nervous about this today, but we'll see how it goes. I have a few places to stop on the way home, one being the post office again. Couldn't get the stamps I needed yesterday (though I did mail some letters) b/c the place was PACKED! Hoping for a better visit today.

Have a great day!

Claudie - Good morning. I have not been to see Santa yet, we will try to do that this weekend. We have not rode the Pink Pig either, that is what our plans are for this weekend. We are going to Rock City to night to see the parades of lights and my granddaughter middle school band is performing there.

trevor - Good morning and hi de ho.

Dino - Yes, I enjoyed driving through your state. I will look for your pictures, I do see those that you post on facebook. Enjoy your day.

Good evening JM

Glad you enjoyed your drive through the Mountain State. Glad you made it home okay.

You'll notice my change in avatar of one of my favorite basketball players in action. A former coworker named Robin comes to the games and photographs the girls in action. As you can see, she is very good at the photographs. I will be putting together an album here on GB of several of mine and her pictures soon.

Tonight's countdown tune comes to us from the year 1965 as there are several traditional Christmas songs done and redone over the years. You heard one the other evening from John Cougar Mellencamp and another from Taylor Swift. But when it comes to this particular song, nothing tops the original performance of this one. Written by Johnny Marks for the Christmas Special "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" which is celebrating it's 50th anniversary airing on CBS, it was originally to be sung by Larry D. Mann, but was given to Burl Ives due to his singing fame. Several artists including Country performers Alan Jackson and Lady Antebellum have performed this one, but in my opinion, you can't beat the original.

Good morning, JM,

Hmmmmm, let me think....anything going on in downtown? I cannot think of anything that I heard of. Must have just been a ton of people going in to visit the city.

Today starts a coupla of really busy weeks for me. I'll be going to the nail salon in a while, and then after that, a short stop to see Mom to drop off some papers she needs to fill out. Then I need to make 2 extra stops on the way home, including a stop at the post office to buy some stamps (for my Christmas cards). I hope I won't have a really long wait there; I saw on the news that today could be one really busy day at the post office as people really get into sending their packages. We shall see.

Have a great day!

Good evening JM

The Ohio River valley is nice to drive through. I'm wanting to do a road trip down the entire stretch of WV 2. Maybe when Spring rolls around again.

Mums the word on the Falcons game today even though you probably know who I was rooting for in this one. Definitely a must win for both teams and the NFC South has given us fits this year.

Back up and running tonight. We said goodbye to a great lady here at work. My Boss, Traci said goodbye after 8 years with the company to pursue another opportunity. We wished her a tearful good luck with her new job with a special gift as well as donuts and McGriddles. The North Warehouse has definitely lost one of its cornerstones and the shoes will be nearly impossible to fill.

Not a bad weekend here. Dylan's team won their first game of the season on Saturday making them now 1-5. The Lady Bobcats are 0-1 after a loss to Jackson Middle School last week. My Dad's theory for the loss was that they didn't play Emily long enough.

Dino's Jukebox Christmas Countdown edition rolls on tonight. I've said a lot about this former Beatle simply because I enjoy his music so much. I even called up the local O*dies station in New Martinsville and requested it to hear it at least once tonight. It's worth hearing again at least for me.

Claudie - Good morning. We actually started work on Monday afternoon with an entrance meeting that took about two hours, we made it here on Sunday night. Mrs. D. just rested in the hotel and took advantage of the fitness center. She worked on some Christmas items. We finished yesterday at 3:30 and we are heading back this morning. Have a great day with Emma.

Good evening JM

May go out this weekend. Not sure, though.

Dino's Jukebox ties in both the Christmas countdown and the difficult task of finding a band that starts with "X." Among the choices were rapper Xzibit, heavy metal act XYZ, alternative group XTC, and what became my choice, female trio Xscape.

There have been several female trios in popular music. It's been a tried and tested grouping over the years. In the '60s, we had the Supremes. In the '80s there were the Cover Girls and Bananarama. In the '90s we had several acts including En Vogue, Destiny's Child which gave us successful soloist Beyoncé, and TLC. Xscape was a lesser known. Their first two releases, "Just Kickin' It" and "Understanding" were top 10 successes and #1 on the US R & B charts in 1993. This tune comes from the 1996 release "12 Soulful Nights Of Christmas."

#8 X - Xscape - "Christmas Without You"

Have a great weekend, see you Sunday night.

Good morning, M,

So your workdays in DC were basically Tuesday-Thursday? Not bad at all!

What did D. do while you were working?

Well, it looks like things are going to be interesting today. Daughter just called and asked if Emma could stay with us today; apparently she doesn't feel well, and the other grandparents have plans for today, so Emma's coming over here. I cannot change my plans for the morning b/c I have a chiro appointment at 9:30, and then I have several stops to make on the way home. It looks like hubby will be keeping an eye on her, at least, for this morning.

Have a great day!

Good evening JM

Would like to do a little more shopping before zero hour. Got a lot done so far.

I've been doing some thinking now that we're near the end of 2014 and are down to the last three songs for Dino's Jukebox. What to do for a 2015 edition of the jukebox? First of all, I won't be able to do another A to Z list simply because there isn't enough groups to pick from for certain letters. Unless, of course, you'd want me to play something from Xzibit. Yeah, didn't think so.

Instead, I am doing decades from month to month. The first three weeks of the month will feature tunes from the '60s, '70s, and '80s respectively. The fourth, and in some occasions, fifth Thursday will be wildcards whereas they'll stick with that month's theme, but will be from any decade of my choosing. The 2015 edition of the jukebox will officially kick off January 8th.

Meanwhile, the 2014 edition of Dino's Jukebox will continue with the Christmas theme tomorrow night. The only thing that'll begin with X will be the artist. Otherwise we'll be keeping Christ in Christmas here.

Tonight the Christmas countdown rolls on with a tune from a very special album, "A Very Special Christmas" was released in 1987 and was produced to benefit Special Olympics. By 1998, the album had sold over four million copies. In the Soundscan era (1991-present) the album has been said to sell 2.5 millon copies and has become the 19th biggest selling Christmas album to date. Tonight's selection from the album is from Indiana native John Cougar Mellencamp and features his Daughter, Teddi at the end of the tune.

Good morning, JM,

Nice that you have no commute, going to work. Wouldn't want to have to deal with that ice and snow.

We had a good visit with hubby's sister and her husband yesterday. It was also good to see Mom beforehand; she looks and sounds much better. She found out that she'll be starting PT maybe on Friday, so that should help her.

So it'll be off to the stores I go today! Since I didn't take Mom to WM, I'll need to go there for the things she wants and then I'll go to the grocery store. Thank goodness, that is IT for today!

Have a great day!

Claudie - Good morning. A Samsung 10.5, you will enjoy it. My wife the older version, the Samsung 10.1 that we purchased a few years ago. It has been cold here with snow and ice. The cars were iced on yesterday morning. It has been peaceful, shorter days and no commute. Enjoy your day.

trevor - Good morning and hi de ho.

Dino - Hi. Yes, I liked your lights, great job. Are you ready for Christmas?

HouHrl - Good morning.

Good evening JM

I knew it was you. Hope you liked our lights.

Who's up for some acapella Christmas music? Found this group on Youtube last year and instantly fell in love with their work. They call Arlington, TX their home and became famous when they won season three of NBC's The Sing Off in 2011. They are known for their pop covers and their numerous Christmas tunes. Tonight's tune is from their 2014 album "That's Christmas To Me."

Good morning, JM,

I got a new toy yesterday; I got a Samsung Galaxy tablet with a 10.5 inch screen. Son pretty much got it set up for me and then showed me some stuff. I am so glad he did that b/c, watching him and answering questions about the set-up, I don't know if I could have done it myself. Now I just have to learn a whole lot more.

How 'bout them Falcons? Looked crappy in the 1st half, but they must have had a fire lit under them during halftime b/c they scored 30 points to GB's 12.Too bad they dug such a big hole for themselves too early. :( And.....how bout that Julio Jones? Wow!

Well, it IS Tuesday, but I am not taking Mom to WM today, as is normal; in fact, I'm not even going to WM today (I'm not even taking Mom to WM this week; I'll just get her stuff when I go myself...tomorrow))! Hubby and I are going to visit his sister and her husband (they live in a northwestern suburb of Atlanta; takes about an hour to get there); we'll probably stay until early afternoon, going home before afternoon traffic gets going. Before we head on up to their house, though, we'll stop off and see Mom for a short, short visit; I have to drop off a coupla things to her and see how she's doing.

Then when I get back home, maybe I can play with my tablet a little more. :)

Have a great day!

Good evening JM

I thought I heard you honk as you drove by. Actually, Charles Town is on the other side of the state from me. We're a very uniquely shaped state.

Busy evening here. Started off with Dylan's game this evening. They lost 20-13 but Dylan had 4 points in the loss. The team is now 0-3 for the season. After the game, we immediately headed to the high school for Kia's Christmas band concert. A smaller turnout than expected. This is in part to a smaller band performing.

The Christmas countdown continues tonight with one of Emily's favorite artists. When she was born, I was a Senior in high school. She was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania and her family moved to Nashville when she was 14 for her to pursue a career in music. Her first hit paid homage to Country singer, Tim McGraw. It peaked at #40 in 2006. Her first #1 came on a Pop hit "We Are Never Getting Back Together" in 2012. Among her won awards include 7 Grammys, 15 American Music Awards, CMA's Entertainer of the Year in both 2011 and 2012, and this Saturday, she'll turn the ripe o*d age of 25.

Good morning, JM,

Glad you made it to DC alright. You said "we" were leaving for DC....did your wife go, too?

Hubby and I have many errands that we need to take care of today, but b/c there are 2 of us (and even though we are going together), we should be able to get them done quickly. Maybe lunch out somewhere afterwards, too. :)

Tonight we'll be watching the Falcons/Packers game on Monday Night Football. Hoping the Falcons don't get a whupping from the Packers!

have a great day!

Good morning JM

The new album, as promised, is up over at FB. May even put up an album here at GB as well.

Well, I'm back. Sort of.

Extra busy night that started off with a flat tire on the car and me winding up 30 minutes late for work. This is the first time I've ever been late in the 2 1/2 years I've been here. If there is a bright side, you'll be happy to know, the blinker is finally fixed. It's very nice to step on the brakes and all three lights come on. Kudos to the guys at Sheppard's Auto in Parkersburg for finally finding the problem and fixing it. One and for all. I hope.

Friday evening was kick off night for the Lady Bobcats. This is Emily's debut on the 7th/8th grade team and it was fun to watch. She is second string, but they outplayed their opponent and won 44-14. Emily had 4 points. They were ahead 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. A hard played game and a lot of smiling girls at the end of this one.

Tonight, we'll kick off the Dino's Jukebox Christmas countdown as well. I will be counting down 12 of my favorite sounds of the season.

Our #12 song comes from a young 10 year old Gayla Peevey. When this song was originally released in 1953, the rumor was that it was recorded as a fundraiser for a local zoo which wasn't the case which Peevey clarified in a radio interview in 2007. A comical, yet simple seeming request:
