Hi Brillo8 and buddies

I was all prepared to stay at the cottage until I had to go to work this am. BUT...I forgot my glasses so I could change out of my contacts. Therefore, I felt I needed to come home Sunday evening so I wouldn't be uncomfortable in the contacts. Now, I haven't seen Duane and barely talked to him since Tues afternoon. So, who should show up unannounced?? Of course, Duane. If I had been at the cottage, we wouldn't have had time to see each other for a couple of hours. I fixed us dinner, talked about our upcoming trip, and talked about many other things. I NEEDED THIS! I think he's lost his cell phone, so we couldn't even make anything work. WHAT LUCK!

I'll be very busy for the rest of the days before Christmas...working nearly every day! Hope I survive...LOL

Have a terrific evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Worked late tonight and FINALLY have gotten to the cottage!!! Oh, how I have missed this place! My last break until Christmas Eve! Except a brief trip to Detroit this week to see Duane. Then, Christmas...alone. I did want to go to TN to see my son and DIL and family. Maybe there will be time between Christmas and New Year's Eve. I really need to see family!

Have a happy evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Worked today. One of our drivers hit a deer...8 pt buck! I saw the incident my first drive by, but less than an hour later the deer was gone. Must find out who got it.

Will work tomorrow, too.

My ant bites are finally calming down. I did a LOT of sleeping in the last 24hrs and popping antihistamines.

Have a nice evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...I think I saw the ant mound and it looked like any other ant mound I've encountered. I need to do more research, I guess.

Anyway, I barely made it through the night. My one foot is kinda swollen and seems like more blisters are erupting. Is that normal? I am taking anithistimines and applying some aloe goo for relief. But, I want to go to the gym today! Maybe I'll only swim!

Have a sunny day, buddies

Hi Beach!

Playing golf in the rain...taking backroads to see wildlife....getting eatin' up by fire ants....sounds like home here in Croatan National Forest! ;-) We have loads of fire ants. Good thing is their mounts are pretty easy to spot (once you know what they are!...lol), so they are easy to avoid. But if you do step directly into one, they will tear-you-up! Sorry you're having to endure the misery.

Sunny and 33° currently, to 51° today. Should be at 59.

Hope you're feeling better real soon!!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

WELL...I have a rip-roaring mess of fire ant bites! Thurs, when we went to Cocoa Beach, I inadvertently stepped on the nest. Nothing seemed amiss until last night when the blisters started to burst. Now, I am in constant itch/pain. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night and it still is really bothering me. Since it's so late, I can't get any real help until tomorrow. I hope I can hold out, because I have to go to the nearby hospital mini-lab for my lab work anyway. I hope I can stand this until tomorrow morning.

Have a better night than I am, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...We had perfect weather most of our trip...especially on the cruise. The day of the launch proved to be a cloudy, rainy day, but that did not stop us from getting out on the golf course. However, we couldn't finish our 18 and luckily got a rain-check for the rest of it. When we arrived back into Port Canaveral, we sat in McD for internet and waited to see if the rain would stop for us to go back to finish our game. Duane is so gutsy and we took a chance on the rain and played another 5 holes before we absolutely had to get on the road to Orlando airport. Keep in mind the rain didn't really stop and we left pretty wet. Luckily, we had clothes that weren't too heavy so we dried for the most part. Orlando was also rainy and only 65 degrees. On the way back and taking a less traveled road back to Orlando, we saw a big wild boar standing near the road! Thurs, on the same road, we saw 2 Bald Eagles, too. The wild life was giving us lots to see on this trip...making me very happy!

Have a super day, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...We have had a GRAND time and soon we'll be heading home. For the 1st time ever, I have some nice color in the middle of winter. I'm still undecided about doing more cruises, but I won't rule it out.

I will let you know more later as we have to decide if we'll finish the back 9 we couldn't get to last Thur. The weather is on and off rain... :((

Hi Beach!

Gee, sounds like you two are having a grand time! It's been nearly 40 years since I've seen a launch down ther myself. I was back to The Cape in '95, but they were no launches scheduled. Did take a tour and saw the shuttle sitting on one launch pad.

Have fun on your cruise!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...We made it back to Cocoa Beach and DID see a successful launch!!! Duane was THRILLED!! This time we left a lot earlier and got to our selected location just in time to get a good spot along RT 528 and get the camera ready. Such a great experience to share w/ him.

Since we were already in a great area for golf, Duane treated me to 18 holes at Cocoa Beach Country Club. BUT, of course, time and weather only allowed us to play 9. He managed to get a "RAIN" check for the remaining 9 which we will try to complete on Monday before we head back to Orlando and our flight home.

Now, we are spending a bunch of time at MCD before we find our parking place and head to the ENCHANTMENT OF THE SEAS!

This has been a vacation of all vacations! We are SO on the same page about 99% of everything! It's such a JOY!

Have a very HAPPY day, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...We made a trip to Cocoa FL to see the launch of the NEW Orion1. After what we thought was a great start from Orlando, we found out how slow it is to make our way to the coast and thought we almost missed the whole event! We weren't at all discouraged and continued on. AND, of course, there were delays and in the end we waited, waited and the launch was scrubbed until tomorrow. We are heading to the cruise ship in Port Canaveral and will get there early to see if the launch is going to happen. Duane has never witnessed one of these and it's been 40+ yrs since I've seen one. This is SO exciting.

Yesterday, we went to the west coast to look up the trailer park Duane's father had there for winter use. That was fun and we found the ghost of a trailer park...wiped out by a hurricane years ago, well after Duane's family was out of there. We did find some VERY old citrus trees and picked as much fruit as seemed ripe enough. From there we made our way to one of their family beach spots...Boca Grande. We aren't sure we found the exact one, but we did settle in and watch a beautiful, romantic sunset!

I am seeing that Duane is having a great time, lots of fun. I think we might be almost on track again. Relationships DO take effort and patience!!

Have a glorious day, buddies

Happy Thanksgiving, Brillo8 and buddies

I am so thankful to all my family and friends, including my gas buddy friends! Thanks for being there for me.

I am doing a bit of cooking and then off to my son's house for the feast! When I return tonight, I'll be planning my trip to Detroit and beyond. Duane and I have a trip planned to Orlando and then a weekend cruise to The Bahamas! I've never been on a cruise so this will be yet another NEW experience I'll have with Duane.

Don't eat too much and be SAFE out on the roads, buddies!!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...I talked to my NC cousin last night and she said no snow for them, either. Maybe in the higher elevations.

We had winds and rain yesterday which turned into blowing snow. I made a last minute decision to dash to the cottage in the driving snow. Not quite a white out, but roads were getting bad. I travel almost exclusively by freeway.

Today more blowing but less snow. I had to tidy up the cottage in preparation for my trip next week. Got to find the warm part of the country!!! Orlando and then a short cruise w/ Duane to the Bahamas.

Have a spectacular day, buddies

Hi Beach

Glad to hear your dinner date went well (except for Duane's spill...ouch!)

Been really warm and unsettled here since the weekend. Sunday night we had bands of heavy rain, with high wind. Worse than some hurricanes, believe it or not. (Thankfully, many hurricanes don't measure up to all the hipe preceding their arrival).

After a night where the temps hovered around 70°!, we have more strong rain showers along the coast this morning. Mid 60s today, right where we should be this time of year. (So no snow in the South yet!...lol)

Have a great day Beach!

Snow's gone! Temps are going to dive later today! OUCH!!!

Bril...Had a nice dinner and thoroughly enjoyed local production of Carmina Burana. Duane was so nice! However, the poor guy totally wiped out trying to step into the car when we were leaving....slippery dress shoes on ice! But we had a very good time and has agreed to go to a movie on Sunday w/ Lar and his gal. Things are looking so much more encouraging...I was not nervous AT ALL, simply had fun!

Now to work!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Well, the snowblower is ok, but it got a REAL workout! I found it easier to plug the cord in to get it started and fuss w/ the choke. Also, had to go lightly on the bite I was taking. This thing is NOT a work-horse!

Off to work in a bit...I will hand shovel some of the drive.

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...My snowblower quit half way through, on wet, deep snow! I had to finish by hand and will wait for the engine to cool.

YES! I am anxious for Friday! My hopes are high!

We had so much snow, several trips were called off and I decided to go home w/ 2hr pay just for driving to work. Now for the rest of the driveway. Also, got to apply for a HELOC to get cash for future desired "fixes." Will take 30 days!!

Things have been hopping around here since returning from Virginia. You're ready for snow!...and we were in the mid 70s Monday!...lol. But temps this morning are below normal. May not even hit 50!

But warmer again by the weekend!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Went to work yesterday only to find out I had put down for a day off! No fortune...lol. I have been in such an inner turmoil, I forgot I had marked it down...I was supposed to be w/ Duane and family for a weekend of hunting. Instead, I came out to the cottage a bit early and found about 2 inches of snow all over.

Got on craigslist to look for a snowblower. I found one I will look at this am.

Now to get some breakfast.

I really liked what I saw!! If I get some positive answers to some questions, I will submit an offer!

This is in the woods, has a wood-fired heating system, a very large, burmed workshop, 3 bedrooms, a nice, open floor plan, and a very lovely finished basement. It's a log house built in the mid-80s.

Off to work to make my "fortune" ... LOL!

Going to see a house this am. Pretty excited because it's a log home that looks great. It's out in the woods and not all that too far from all the things I need in life...lol Now, if I can make an offer that will be workable for me. (Really jumping the gun, here, I know.)

Bril...It isn't too smooth here for all kinds of reasons. But I'm getting through.

Sure turned COLD! Had light snow on the lawn this am, too. Sun came out off and on...that helped.

Tomorrow Lar will pick me up meet w/ my real estate agent to see a new house. Lar has a nice way of supporting me lately! Then, he will head to his girlfriend's house and I will ride back w/ the r.e. agent.

The market was GOOD to me today!!! Made an obscene amount of $$! Now to pay off some debt.

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...more on the Duane front: he texted mid-morning that he was out tracking a deer he'd shot (arrow). After learning more, I ended up finding him about 10 miles from the cottage so I could help him search for it. We spent an hour and then the rain came pouring down. So, we headed for the cottage and ate some lunch and got warm. The rain let up enough to get the doors on the shed. Would you believe he was the one standing by watching me do some finishing touches on the assembly instead of him trying to take over the drill? Usually, I'm the one who has to watch and wait. Anyway, the doors are up...not completely finished....ran out of screws. I went to HD for more and worked by myself to get some hardware on as the temps were swiftly dropping.

Now, to pack up and off to work!

Have a happy day, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...THANKS! I'm going to see this through...he's SO worth it! We had a classic movie and dinner date on Sunday and it was so nice to be treated like a woman...opening doors, etc. We had some nice conversation for which both of us learned more about past experiences in our relationships. I came to a very important conclusion last night: I am willing to accept this as a GRAND ADVENTURE! One that started last spring and has never really ended!

Today, our last decent day, Duane will come over and help me get the doors on the shed at the cottage. We should have gotten that done yesterday because it was mild and no precipitation. We may be fighting some drizzle and slowly dropping temps.

Gee, sorry to hear. Well, I know you'll work through this situation. You're a strong woman.

I have been sooo busy around here (details would be a bore...lol). So much so that Linda and I have decided that we will head to Virginia Beach either Monday or Tuesday. Short trip. Plan to return home on Thursday.

Hope you have a great week Beach!

HI Brillo8 and buddies

POOP on MSU!!! I can't believe they performed so poorly....and in their own stadium!!!

Getting myself psyched up for my date this afternoon...head is spinning.

Now to get some domestic things accomplished!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Yes, Duane is heading in the other direction. He is still VERY fond of me and we actually spent the better part of Wed working on the shed...well into darkness. We had a nice talk and I have to conclude, although we are SO compatible and affectionate, we seem to have very different expectations for our relationship. So, I don't know if we will do the cruise together and most likely I won't go to Mexico in Jan. But you never know. He has invited me to a movie tomorrow afternoon. I hope things will be congenial and not too strained. The strain comes because he doesn't really communicate with me except for texting...very unsatisfying. So, I have to consider the thought of looking elsewhere! NOT what I want to do!!!

This separation has afforded me more time to deal with my personal situation and I have contacted a real estate agent and want to start looking for another house. I'd really like to be out of here within the year. I have A LOT of work to do!!

Currently, watching the MSU/OSU game. Good game.

Have a delightful evening, buddies

Hi Beach

Welcome to the weekend!

Paused on your comment about Duane's interest. Hopefully, it's nothing more than a case of being tired from all the activities you two have been enjoying.

Sunny and 65° today. Mid 70s again by Veteran's Day. Linda and I will travel back to VB next week for granddaughter's 5th birthday.

Have a great weekend Beach!

HI Brillo8 and buddies

This is a day off...got my voting out of the way!

Off to the cottage and try to work on the shed doors. After 2 coats of primer on the awful particle board, I will put a coat of regular paint on. Then, the trim and hardware. Duane might come help me, but not too confident about his interest any more.

Have a splendid day, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...I've been at the cottage mostly this week getting things ready for the "deep freeze." I've been able to commute to GR for the gym and Sat job. If the gas prices weren't so low, I would never consider all this extra travel.

Also, I've got a nice Handywoman job repairing my shed. The doors most likely won't make it through the winter, especially if it's like last years record snowfall! Only Home Depot has the set-up to cut 4x8 sheets with the 2 cuts I needed...at least around here. That also made it MUCH easier to get them home in my NEW Kia Soul! I don't have a roof rack, so everything had to fit inside.

Job today is to prime the pieces and maybe get the old hardware off the rotting doors.

So, now with the extra hour, I can get that much more done!

Have a Super day, buddies

Hi Beach

Yep, the Giants won. But it was close. The Royals had the tying run on third base in the bottom of the 9th when the game ended.

We've been having some terrific weather here. Low 80s Tuesday, Wednesday. So Linda and I took two road trips this week. And I've been going some work outside. Fun, fun, fun! ....lol

Today we took advantage of the opportunity to vote early.

Have a fun Friday and a great weekend Beach!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Guess I fell asleep before the end of the World Series game and now am wide awake! Did I miss anything? I'll bet the Giants won.

I think this is the day I'll start work repairing the doors on my shed at the cottage. Looks to be a fairly easy job, but I have limited space and not exactly the right tools...but, I'll manage.

Have a delightful day, buddies
