Bril...that sounds like a really good time! I could have used Piggly near me on Monday, when I got my oil changed. However, MB dealer is on the most famous motor highway in America...Woodward Ave in Detroit. So the bad part is that there aren't the stores or delis or that stuff there. All MB has to offer is coffee, tea, juice and cookies... oh, well.
We are nice and cool here...w/ rain! Today I get a massage for sore spot on shoulder blades..hope that will help, cause it's really tender. If I feel good enough after that, I'll go work out. Then, to pack for tomorrow...trip to TN!

Hi Beach
good morning Beach. Linda and I took a day trip in my Tundra on Tuesday. Started with a stop to have the oil/filter changed at Massey Toyota in Kinston. Then lunch at a new "Piggly Wiggly" grocery store there. They have a cafeteria that is very popular with the staff at Massey. It was vey good and cheap too. Then we drove on to Smithfield. Browsed the many antiques shops, then dinner at a Cracker Barrel, before heading back. It was a fun day.
71° this morning, to 84° with storms possible again, some severe.

Bril...Yes, I guess I'll have to set a trap. Do you know that I found a whole black walnut on the front seat of my car last week after I was having a lot of trouble with the car alarm going off randomly? It was if the critter was saying..."SEE? I know who took all my walnuts a couple of winter's ago!!! Now, try to fix this one!" The nice guy at the MB dealership in Detroit found a couple of places a small animal could get into the car. Doesn't pay to eat in the car w/o thoroughly vacuuming out the crumbs...LOL!
Hot here again. Dash read 91 in Detroit yesterday!!! That's just too hot!
Yes, I did see my son in Lansing and he showed me his first garden...onions, garlic, tomatoes, some herbs, zucchini, blueberry bushes(from previous owners), and some different types of peppers. Just a "chip" off the OLD block...lol

Gee, sorry to learn of the death and devastation caused by those tornadoes in OK yesterday. We cope with hurricanes, but they give days of warning. I can't imagine living in tornado alley.

Bril...I'm sitting in the waiting room of the Mercedes-Benz in Detroit getting the oil/service done on my car....SMART car, that is. I got word from the mechanic that the critters are able to get into my car, and he brought out an interior rear panel to show me that some of the fiber insulation has been chewed on. Since I have a convertible, there are more spaces to squeeze in than I figured. Maybe the only solution is to set some traps in the car...under the seat. Whoo..Hoo!!! Lucky me!
It is a decent day, but quite warm....good day for a drive. We are to get T-storms, but haven't hit here, yet. Hopefully, I can see son, #3, on my way back home. He lives in Lansing, but today has a meeting in GR this pm.

Bril...thanks for your great insight! With so much to do, I just get a bit heated up when there is so much to do! I have to call some contractors to help on the roof. You sure are a good friend to calm me down...lol
So, it is a beautiful day here and we'll see 80's. The flowering trees stayed lovely for a nice length of time and are now just loosing their petals. Went outside a bit ago and discovered 4 cow birds in the backyard. Wonder if there is a way to trap them. Sounds a bit harsh, but they lay their eggs in other bird's nests and push out the original eggs. Not good!
One of my errands is to go to the battery store to see if my Ridgid tool battery is shot!
Just realized why I'm a little down this am....I didn't win ANYTHING from my $10 Powerball investment! LOL!!

Beach, don't be too hard on him. Some men just don't have it when it comes to fixin' stuff, or WANTING to fix stuff. :-) I've always enjoyed home projects. LOVE doing electrical work. I actually wanted to be an Aircraft Electrician. But that trade wasn't "open" when my apprentice class started. So I took aircraft mechanic. I think that honed my skills to do much around the home. Love building too. Designed and built my workshed. (Have you ever seen a picture of it?) But I was younger then...lol.
Good idea about the portable AC unit. Thanks.
Active night on TV last night. Usual Red Sox game via internet, plus viewed an old Rockford Files show on Netflix (Rockford my all-time favorite TV show...lol), then finished by watching NASCAR's All-Star race at Charlotte, ending just before midnight.
69° this morning, to 83° with more storms possible again today.

Bril....You are just the guy I need around here!! Lar is really pretty lame when it comes to doing things. He bought a condo to move into by the end of the month and can't even hook up his TV! He's trying to "fix" the leak in the flat roof over the garage at my house, but all the spraying he's done hasn't done anything but empty his pocketbook. He refuses to listen to my suggestions...sooo...I have all of it to do.
Why don't you put in a portable AC unit in the workshop? I would think that would be quite comfy.
No real plans for me, either...just the usual tasks.

Beach, welcome to the weekend! Any plans? None here. I've been rearranging the inside of my workshed this past week. Mounted an old 26" flatscreen TV on the wall & added a better antenna, so getting nice free HD. Set up an old laptop to an old stereo my son left behind years ago, and getting great music via Panbdora. Now just need to install a better ceiling fan, ...or floor fan??? So I'm all set to work in comfort...lol. Yesterday's job was installing a service kit on my John Deere.
67° this morning, to 88° with storms possible again today.

Bril...Try this: if you accidently wipe out your typing, hit control "z" and, poof, it all comes back! Usually works, unless you do something else before you try to recall the typing. Does that make ANY sense??? LOL

What a beautiful day! Was supposed to get to 80, but was a comfortable 70-75. I got to drive the most beautiful section of freeway in all of MI...US 31 north from Muskegon to Ludington!

Beach, could YOU deliver? ...lol Hope you had a great day off on Tuesday. Here, Linda and I took a little road trip yesterday. First to Morehead City to buy a Longhorn Steakhouse giftcard for my friend Kaye who is retiring at the end of the month, then a brief stop at the Beaufort waterfront, on to Jacksonville and lunch at Cheddars and shopping at Sam's, then back through New Bern and on to home. It was like a lap around the Croatan National Forest. 135 miles.
59° now, sunny and 84° today.

Beach, hey, you have to take advantage of those things near & dear. (Linda would love those chocolate covered strawberries...BTW) Like all, I generally hate tv commercials, but do enjoy those by Pure Michigan. Just so pleasant and refreshing. They run them all the time on FoxNews in the morning. Just saw one featuring Traverse City. Makes me "wanna taaake" a BIG road trip...lol.

Had a nice day at work today. Went to Muskegon, Holland, and Jackson. Not too warm, not too cool....sunny skies.

Crab cakes sound wonderful! Wish I lived near the ocean for nice, fresh seafood!! Buuutttt...the chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements were VERYYY nice!

Linda and mother had a good day here, thanks. Linda requested I make her a homemade seafood dinner. So I bought two pounds of fresh crab meat and made crab cakes. Also steamed 4 pounds of shrimp. That was all on Saturday night. Sunday we all got a big surprise when son Jason and the grandkids arrived unannounced from VA mid-afternoon. So we cooked burgers on the grill. They stayed over and will depart late this afternoon.
57° now, to 70° today.

Bril...glad YOU got your lawn mowed!! I didn't get quite as much done as I had hoped..but got to the gym for a good work out and my "dessert" exercise...a swim!
Went to Detroit today. Temp was in the 50s when we left and in the 70s just a couple of hours later in Detroit. By the time we got back to GR, the temp wasn't even in the 60s..quite chilly.
Tomorrow I will deliver Mother's Day fruit bouquets like I did on Valentine's. Should be fun!

With two days off, you can get a lot of things accomplished. I was on GB early, but then found myself outside, so why not mow the lawn? Just finished my shower after trimming up everything. Now for lunch. Then an easy afternoon to enjoy our beautiful weather here (finally). Sunny and mid 70s right now. Man says we may hit 81°. Humidity is low right now, so the windows are open. (another WooHoo!). Glad your weather is nice too!

Bril...co-worker is ok, I think, although I didn't see him at work yesterday...which probably means he didn't get called for work. The van he was driving was pretty torn up on the passenger side...he had no passengers.
Glad your mom had a great time and she loves her own bed! Gotta love it and her!
You know...I threw in a couple of hot dogs into my scalloped potato dish last night...v e ry curious...we'd think alike from SO far away!
Got another beautious day here in GR! I have the day off and plan on getting more things sorted out...every room has much unwanted/unneeded stuff!! Big job, so glad I have renters at the cottage...staying home = getting things done...lol

Beach, gee, glad that your co-worker wasn't hurt. That could have turned out real bad. He is very lucky!
Mom is back home with us...upstairs in her "apartment". She had a great time at my brother's, ...AND attending her granddaughter's graduation from James Madison U. in Harrisonburg, VA. But she's glad to spend a night in her own bed again. She just has to put up with our terrible cookin'...LOL ( we're having hot dogs and chili tonight )

Bril...Got to go work today...2 days in a row. That hasn't happened in awhile.
So, not much happening here...OHHHH, except, one of the drivers in my group yesterday, called me to say he had fallen asleep and sideswiped a sign. He wasn't near me, so I couldn't be there to help, but he was alright and the van was pretty damaged. Can't say that has happened with our drivers before. Drowsiness is a big problem with many.
So...we get on the road again.

Bril..I got a couple little things done at home yesterday. Found a pretty good stack of papers my mother had saved from the last century...1960s or so. They were the docs and correspondence surrounding the disposition of my grandparents estate. Lots of letters to my aunts and uncle, and cousins!! So hard to toss...especially the letters!
Then to MetroPCS for a new phone! Hopefully, $40/mo for EVERYTHING will be just what I'll need. It sure will save a lot of money.

Beach, today we take a day trip to pick up my mom and bring her home. She's been visiting my brother in Virginia the last couple weeks. We'll meet them in Edenton, NC and have lunch while there.
Now to the weather. ...the sun is actually shining! lol. But probably not for long. Weatherman calling for rain showers and thunderstorms today-tonight.

Beach, no, not really...lol. I went to the grocery store pretty early this morning for Linda. Then I did get sidetracked in helping her with some other chores. But all easy stuff....so it doesn't count as "homework" lol. Watching the Talladege race now...then the Red Sox game later...
Glad to hear you're having such beautiful weather. Ours is cloudy and only in the upper 60s at the moment. It has sprinkled a couple times. More rain on the way...for the next 2-3 days.

Yes, I'd say you had to have been busy!! LOL! Good to have the weekend!
I'm at the cottage for a bit...SO nice and cool! In town it's about 77. I won't stay but a few hours to do a couple of things and get the mail. My renter is gone for the weekend and invited me to stay the whole weekend if I wanted. But I won't.
You'll get a kick out of me for using my oscillating Multi-Tool to break down an OLD antenna we took down last year from the roof. I did most of it with a hack saw, but decided to try the power tool to speed up the job. It worked! I love that tool!
The yard was full of weeds, too. I thought I put on weed and feed last fall! What happened? Seems like the feed fed the weeds really well...lol

obie...are you new here???? WELCOME!!
Bril...got home last night kinda late!! Work took all of us (drivers) to the Tigers game! Left at 9am, had lunch at the stadium, and watched the 1pm game. By the time we navigated all the traffic in Detroit, we finally made it home about 8:15pm!!! We went out and grabbed a quick bite and I was pooped! It was a really fun time, though.
So, had the day off so I could go to the gym for my workout...abs will probably be sore tomorrow...lol!

I missed the GMA coverage. But did see a story on the web about the missing young lady. That's so terrible. I too hope she is found unharmed soon.
Well, guess you've already met with your accountant. Hope the tax hit won't be too bad.
Overcast and 61° here this morning. Rain showers for us again today.

Bril..Yesterday was cloudy almost all day...this am is sunny and beautiful!

Did you see GMA this am? Had a piece about a missing gas station attendant....from Norton Shores, not far from my cottage! Hope she is found soon...she has a 3yr old son who's missing her, I sure.
Well, I meet w/ accountant to see what I have to pay in taxes after selling the rental! Wish me luck...lol

Beach, sounds so nice. Does it make you want another sailboat? :-) I saw 3-4 sailboats on the Neuse River yesterday myself. ....burgers and friends. What a FUN dinner out!
Sunday was a day of rest for us after a couple of very active days. Daughter Amy "drafted" me (lol) on Friday into helping her negotiate a deal on a new car. So we shopped Friday and she bought a 2013 Corolla Sport Saturday. Her boyfriend traded his Mustang and she "gave" him her '09 Corolla. Through it all, our friends at Massey Toyota in Kinston came through again with a very good deal to Amy. ...AND and a trade-in offer to Erich that was $500 higher than he requested. THAT was a big surprise. But it sealed the deal. :-)
61° with light showers this morning. Rain and low 70s today.

Bril..I think we got to over 70 yesterday.
My cottage renter had taken the mail into the cottage and we had to go there yesterday to get it. I was SO happy to see the lake...even 2 sailboats out on the BIG lake! Had to be quite chilly, but it was heartwarming to see. From the cottage, we went to our favorite burger place for a meal. Many of our friends were there and had a great meal/time!!
Today, we have clouds which are supposed to bring rain...so a bit cooler. Probably a good day to take recyclables.

Beach, glad to hear Spring has finally arrived at your door! :-)
Sunny and 60° here at the moment. But rain showers are on the way....and here to stay for the next 3-4 days or so. Maybe I ought to mow and fertilize??? lol.

Bril..glad to hear you had a terrific week so far. Sounds like you got lots of little things done.
The shed IS a great price...$1100, needs assembly, and doesn't come w/ roofing material. Thanks for your honest opinion. These are things Lar just isn't talented enough to help me with... :( I have until May 4 to finally decide.
Off to work this am. And it's a beautiful day!! Temps will be in the 60's...FINALLY!
