Hi Brillo8, NoGasLeft, and buddies

Would you believe I was out of the house this am to temps at 14 degrees F????? I'M NOT KIDDING!!! It finally warmed up to about 40...just barely. Another clear night tonight...supposed to get snow tomorrow, YIKES!!!

Had a nice day off and got lots of errands done. Now I can begin the countdown to Duane's return.

Happy days, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

I can't believe this!!! It's not getting warmer, it's getting COLDER!!!! Maybe down to single digits tonight. We may even get snow!!! I just picked up my new snow shovels from Home Depot. I didn't think I'd be using them, but I just might have to.

I know it's early, but I stayed up to see the basketball game.

Have a splendid day, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Another cold SPRING day!!! I must be spoiled by the past springs when there would be a few flowers and some green grass! Got some rain yesterday, but it would be snow if it happened today...LOL

Since I can't do anything about the weather, I guess I'll just find some other ways to enjoy my day off...out at the cottage!!

Have a great day, buddies

Not much happening here...COLD!!! No precipitation...so all is quite dry. It's helped those near the rivers, though.

Off to a wonderful day of work!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Wow! You have a long recovery! I'm sorry to hear you have such a wait. Who will mow the lawn? And all the othr things you've been accustomed to do?

Thanks for your interest and support on my situation. You have great advise that I take very seriously. Duane sounds younger as he is the youngest 76 yr old I've ever met! Yes, and part of the problem for me is that he is so much older than me. Would I be better off with someone more my age??? I would love to explore that if this doesn't work out. But things always look so different when we see/talk every night. He is really very charming and I get sucked in...lol

I'm at the cottage today. The snow is melting but not too fast. Lake Michigan has a lot of ice on it...even way out! However, not thick enough to walk on, I think. We are getting teased pretty good waiting for spring days to arrive.

Have a blissful day, buddies

Hi Beach

Surprising to hear your feelings about Duane. Sounds like a much younger man than I was envisioning. Well, you're a smart woman. Use your head as well as your heart. In case of a tie, go with what your head tells you. :-))

Today marks one month since my accident. Hope to be allowed to place weight on my ankle within the next couple weeks. Still a long way from doctor's estimate of 4 months ( late June) to wear a shoe again.

Cloudy and 53° here. Low to mid 60s here today.

Hope you have a nice Sunday Beach! I'll be thinking about you...(and Duane)

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Getting closer until I drive to Chicago to get Duane! I'm very uncertain how his attitude will be toward me as it doesn't appear he's finished sowing those wild oats! I heard him say last night he's getting closer to making a decision because he doesn't want to be alone much longer. I feel like the contestant on THE BACHELOR!!! Down to the last 3 women...this is quite hard to take. We shall see...I may be looking once again for someone interested in sharing our lives.

My chin is up, though.

Wow, can't believe the price hike in gas around here! The news says there's a glut...I think that's what I saw. Anyway, even Costco is 2.33/g

Day off and doing the trading thing.

Hi Brillo8, rcsteve23 and buddies

Still cold but sunny!

My cold is at the sneezing stage and some runny nose...But, I feel ok for someone w/ a cold.

I'm in the count down phase for Duane's arrival. I looking for something easy to do in Chicago before we HAVE to leave. I wanted to go to Second City, but it's too late for him and he will be antzy to get home.

Anyone with ideas?

Hi Beach

So sorry to hear the sad news about your son's dogs. Dogs are truly a beloved member of the family. The loss of one, or in this case two so close to one another, must be terribly upsetting to David and his family. My condolences. :-(

...and sorry to learn you're under the weather again. Get well soon!

Sunny & 82° here. May have set a new record. We should be at about 65 in mid-March.

Hope you have a better evening Beach!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Sunny but cold...40/41

I seem to have a repeat of the cold I caught in Mexico. The same thing happened to Duane in about the same time frame. He got sick more than a week before I did. He had bronchitis, I got a head cold. His ailment returned about 2 weeks ago and my same head cold has returned as well. He is still in Mexico for another 2 wks, though.

Most of the snow is gone...even many of the big, big piles. The landscape is very dreary to look at, but the continued sun will take care of that very soon.

On a sad note, my son, David, had to put down their other dog last night. This is on the heels of Christmas morning when they put down Newman. David wrote a wonderful tribute to both of them as they were named for characters in Seinfeld...Newman and Elaine....and said it seems that an era in his/their life/lives have now come to an end. I know they will not be dogless for long!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...How are you doing?? When do you go to therapy?

Finally made my PI yesterday...got too busy Sat w/ a St Pat's party and then babysitting for a friend's 3mo old. That was amazing! I haven't been around such little ones in a LONG time. In fact Duane got a chance to see another side of me when he called me on Skype while I had little guy in my arms. We do video Skype...very cool!

Today was interesting as we bounced around the county..saw temps reach 68! Totally different story tomorrow..highs in the low 40s.

More sad news on the family front...Son, David and family, put their other dog down tonight! Just a few months after the first one. I sure hope the girls are dealing with this ok. They're 9 and 6 and have always been around these 2 dogs.

Have a happy evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

This is the most amazing month!

Last week we had an English day...March Forth!

This week we have Friday, the 13th, a math day as in Pi Day..3.141592653 twice

Next week we'll have The Ides of March, St Patrick's Day, the first day of Spring

Then, I think we calm down until the last day of March...out like a Lion or Lamb??

I had my Fri the 13th moment yesterday...I knocked over a nearly full cup of coffee next to my bed......luckily I don't have wall to wall carpet. I sopped up as much as I could see, but wonder if I really got all of it. I think some disappeared between the cracks of the hardwood floors...BOO!!

So, I've had a moment of fun celebrating Pi Day. Later, I want to make PIZZA PI!!! LOL

Have a wonderful PI Day, buddies

Another day with temps above 32! Not much sun, but that's okay as the melting will be a little slower, so flooding won't be too soon.

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...I'll bet you have "cabin fever" really bad!!! LOL I'm certainly happy you are doing so well and can't wait to hear about your trip home. If you get the kind of weather we're about to get, you will be in shorts and t-shirts when you do get home.

I took care of all the ice on the deck at the cottage yesterday. But on Saturday had to dig my way into the drive. Once I got the car into the drive, I tried turning it around and got myself stuck sideways in the snow...MORE shoveling!!! Thank goodness the daylight lasted until I was free!!

We're to see 50 or there abouts this week...now, I get to say Whoo Hooo!!!!!!!!

HI Brillo8 and buddies...March fourth, my friends!!!

Bril...I am hoping for good news from you! Yes, you are seeing a nice warm-up. We were very lucky and didn't get the freezing rain yesterday and today the sun was out quite a bit...although, never got over 30. And the boss is not back to work yet...he must have really gotten hurt!

Really looking forward to some warmer days here, too. But we are going to have a really cold day tomorrow...it's heading your way next.

You know Duane is still in Mexico until the end of the month...kind of lonely here! But we get on Skype every night and that helps. Doesn't make me any less lonely...so I really appreciate all your news.

Hi Beach

Sorry to hear you banged your knee up a bit. Lucky that it wasn't bad. Guess even in "snow country", folks slip occasionally like those of us in the south.

Been taking it easy for sure. Can't do much otherwise...lol. Ten days since my fall, so this morning I have my first followup with the surgeon. I expect he'll be removing my stitches. I'll learn where we go from here. Only have 6 more days of Lovenox shots. Expect after that regiment is complete, I'll be traveling home.....WooHoo!

A rare warm-up should melt any remaining traces of snow. 54°, to 67° today. BUT tomorrow, highs back down into the 30s, with a chance of snow Thursday night. Maybe an inch.

Have a great day Beach!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...I sure hope you're taking it easy! I slipped on a bit of ice yesterday at work and mostly dinged up my one knee. Today, I heard that my boss, who's not more than a kid, slipped and banged up his ankle pretty good! When I came in from my fall yesterday, he did the required thing asking if I needed medical attention. I sort of laughed because I had almost forgotten about it by that time. I didn't work today, so I'm sure I'll learn more tomorrow when I do.

Snowed here again and we're supposed to get some nasty freezing, but so far, only snow and a slight bit warmer....32.

Have a safe and fun evening, buddies

Hi Beach

After a cold weekend, today may warm into the 40's. We'll have a "Whiplash Wednesday", where temps will spike into the 60s, before Thursday's daytime high in the 30s. Maybe our snow will all be gone by Wednesday. Hopefully...

Have a GREAT day and a wonderful week Beach!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Sounds like you are in GOOD hands! Even though the screw-up happened, it's so nice your son is willing and eager to come over to help. I'll bet you get lots of visiting in, too. Keep up the good work...healing.

SNOW and ICE?? I still rather like it. I am leary of ice, though. Duane is still in Mexico and very glad he doesn't have to deal w/ all this! BUT...he has a bit of respiratory trouble. I'm wondering if, combined w/ his respiratory history, he can't shake it because it's so dry there.

It's been SO cold here, but sun shines and believe it or not, there is evaporation and the snow is slowly disappearing. I'm thankful for that.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to go look at a piece of Lk MI property farther north of me that Duane and his son is interested. Just hoping we don't get a real snow storm that will make it difficult to drive in to it.

So, today?? More work and then to the cottage.

Hi Beach

Well, we did receive another 6-7 inches of snow overnight Wednesday. Bright sunshine this morning hopefully will melt this crap. But you are right, I have a great excuse for not shoveling the darned stuff. I long ago lost my excitement for the occasional snow, but now after my accident, I downright despise snow (and ice)...lol. Perfect world, give me a place where I could wear cargo shorts year-round...

Most of my day is spent in a recliner in MILs living room. Remainder in bed. Either way, ankle is elevated in a big foam cradle. MILs cable is limited basic, so not much on. Found more via over-the-air with a small flatscreen my son brought me. Old 60s shows have passed the day so far...

...oh, and speaking of my son. Remember me mentioning I would receive home nursing care?? Well, it was to administer daily injections of Lovenox, a common anti-clotting drug used after hip, knee replacement. Anyway, ther was a screwup in the orders...home health sent me a physical therapist....NOT a nurse. So my son is giving me my injections. Proud of him. He loves doing it. Think I could do it myself...if the hospital had just asked..and offered to show me. Son received instruction from the pharmacist, who was glad to instruct.

Have a Fun Friday Beach!

23°, to 37° in Virginia Beach today.

Bril...You sure have a great excuse for not shoveling...LOL!! So, are you catching up on sports and movies?? That's what I'd be doing...lol.

Mostly quiet day of work yesterday. Toward the middle of the afternoon, we started getting snow flurries which made for a bit of slippery driving. We ended up w/ about 3 inches more...not enough to shovel. The temps are still downright frigid!!

Off to work!

Hi Beach!

Broke the shovel, huh? Unfortunately, I broke my ankle.

Us Southerners definitely can't deal with snow and ice. :-( I sustained a pretty severe break/dislocation of my left ankle Sunday morning. I had just stepped into the culdesac in front of my MIL's house to walk to my son's house just a few doors down. Right foot slipped, left foot planted in a rut as I fell backwards...and snap! Broke both the inner and outer ankle knobs off. So my ankle was hanging by meat only. Laid there on the ice until the rescue squad arrived.

But I intend to get better. Was released from the hospital last night. Immediate danger is blood clots. So I'll have home nursing care here at my "new temporary" home at my MIL's in Virginia Beach...for the next couple weeks. At that point, hopefully I'll be allowed to make the drive home to North Carolina, where I'll continue followup care, and a few months of therapy.

Have a great day Beach!

Hi Billo8 and buddies

I spent another 2.5hrs on shoveling yesterday morning before the cold and more snow set in. Broke the shovel, too. At some places on the deck the depth was up to my knees.

I'm still here and you should see how beautiful it looks!

A few hours of moderated temps. Looks like I've got my shoveling work cut out for me....the deck at the cottage has a TON of snow on it! And getting more light snow. I should finish the driveway, too. It's all exercise, right???

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Finally, we get a break in the weather! The temps were nearly 30 in my neck of the woods. I worked until 3:30pm and gathered a few things to take to the cottage.

I brought a snow shovel along and started right in w/ the end of the driveway. For about 2 feet into the drive, it was 12" or more and then it tapered to about 8-10. I worked at this for about 2hrs and I didn't completely finish the drive. I did cut 2 paths for my wheels and brought the car up to the cottage. With a little more shoveling...steps and some around the car, I could call it a day!

I'm going to treat myself to a fabulous hamburger from my favorite pub! NO cooking for me tonight!!

Have a terrific evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to ALL!!

I worked delivering arrangements in 10 degree weather. Blowing snow kept me off the freeways, but the sun was out many times. The wind was bitter and frostbite could happen on bare skin in 15 min or less!

Deep freeze tonight!!

Stay warm, buddies, wherever you are

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

I am getting to feeling better but delayed going into Edible's for a couple of hours. Would you believe Larry went with me and did a major amount of deliveries? I could do the driving, but doing the entire job by myself would have been really tough. I'm in that state of half awareness so...NO overloads, please.

Getting bed early and Larry said he would go again tomorrow.

Have a nice evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Got home about midnight last night. Uneventful flight and roads were very good for the drive from Chicago.

I got a bit of the cold Duane had last week and one ear is plugged due to pressure drop in the descent last night. And I work mostly outside tomorrow and the temps won't be higher than 20!

Have a delightful day, buddies
