Hi Beach

Seems I run around too much when the weather gets warm...lol. After a weekend of rain, (more like a "nor-easter") I was out early yesterday. Then took Linda in for a "nuclear" test of her heart. We'll get the results Friday during another appointment.

Much warmer today. 55° now. Sunny and 80° today. Back to the cargo shorts...lol

Have a terrific Tuesday Beach!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Going to have another nice warm day and then, cooler for the rest of the week. At the cottage, I got the right Rustoleum color for cleaning up the bird feeder I use for the Orioles. now to get the best hanger for it...a nice "S" wire would be ideal.

Got out the patio furniture, too. Starting to look like summer...lol!

Hi Brillo8, new buddy..Bob F, and buddies

Bril...we need more rain. Almost all the snow is gone, but has made its way to the rivers. Boyfriend #1 took me to the Muskegon River to see his favorite fishing spot. Water was over the banks and really flowing fast! Sure wouldn't want to get caught in that stuff.

Happy Easter, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Thanks, and hope you enjoy your Good Friday. I have to work...just as well today as the markets are closed. Seems like getting a vacation...lol!

Venison was from him or a family member...can't remember. In order to grill, burgers have to be combined with some ground beef. It doesn't hold up very well on its own. They were good and nice to know they are better for you than beef.

Wow! How nice to get a good deal to help keep cooler in the summer! I'm sure you'll notice the difference right away!

Cottage power came on and all seems fine. I took pics of those trees that came down on my neighbor's house. I'll send when I download them. They're sizable!

Girlfriend finally took off yesterday late afternoon...all the way to FL! She'll be back after Mother's Day.

Have a Good Friday, buddies

Hi Beach

Gee, sorry about your accident. But definitely glad to hear you were not hurt! (no wonder I'm a Coke (and not Pepsi) fan...lol)

So how were your grilled venison burgers? Did boyfriend #1 supply the venison?

As mentioned, the guy came to give us an estimate on applying 3M window tint to our sunroom windows Wed. He showed us some great samples and some lovely photos of beach houses he had done recently. After we received an estimate on the sunroom, it was my idea to ask "how much for the other windows" on the south and west side of the house. Ended up working a deal, where the guy will do all that (13 windows) AND install security film/tint to the downstairs of my garage (3 windows) and throw in a "free" install on 3 windows of my workshed. The job's scheduled for next Thursday.

Hope you have a great evening and a nice Good Friday.

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...still COLD here...even though the sun is fully out! I'm w/ boyfriend #1 just north of GR and having a good time. Going to grill venison burgers tonight w/ broccoli salad and stuff.

OH! Yesterday in one of our "famous" left turn arounds, a Pepsi semi cut to short and took out the front bumper of the BRAND new 300 I was driving for work! No one hurt and I didn't get a ticket...thank goodness!

All is well, buddies

Hi Beach

good morning Beach. I just realized that I didn't post a greeting I had typed out the other day....oops. Just there's just been so much going on still...lol. Yesterday the heating & air guys came back to install some new ducting to our sunroom. Today we have a guy coming to give us an estimate on applying tint to the slider windows in there. Should make it a lot more comfortable.

I see you've still got a lot going on too. Congrats on finishing your taxes! And good that you are numbering your boyfriends. I'll be able to keep up with the stories better. Come to think of it, maybe you'll be able to keep up with them better too...lol ;-).

Much, much cooler this morning. Only 39° now. Sunny, but only 58° today. Oh well, back to sweatshirts and jeans...lol

Have a terrific day Beach!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...No GREEN! Just WHITE!!!! It's covering everything but the sidewalks and streets and if we get more today, it will stay around...boo!!!

On a happier note...I have taxes DONE!!! Oh, how I detest this time of year!! But they're done!

I am hoping to make a run to Grant, MI this evening to help boyfriend #1 get printer hooked up to computer. That should be easy unless it's an old printer...I don't know at this point.

Off to work.

Have a warm, cozy day for me, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...We got RAIN! The green is here! No more DINGY! It was rather warm yesterday. But not all is good news.

I had a date w/ a guy from Lansing area yesterday after I was done w/ work. Before work, I looked at some local news and discovered the storm we were supposed to get did actually go through...just not in GR. It caused many trees to come down in Muskegon...so I was very concerned about the cottage. My date and I talked about what time we'd meet. When he suggested 2pm, I threw in that if he didn't mind, I'd be happy to take us on a drive to see how things were at the cottage. He was agreeable, even said he'd drive.

When he saw my Smart car, he showed great interest...so, I said I'd drive and he'd get a chance to ride in it. Also, I brought homemade chicken rice soup, cheese, crackers to take to the cottage instead of eating out...thinking it would be NO problem heating the soup in the microwave.

We got to the cottage after driving by the foggy, iceberg Lake Michigan only to find there was no electricity. Hey...no problem, I have a gas stove! Only it has electronic ignition! No problem, I have matches!! I had a very nice beer in the fridge and it was still pretty cold, so we had a very nice meal.

When we drove through the neighborhood on our way to the cottage, there were signs of much wind damage...trees toppled over or broken off half way up. From lunch, we decided to walk to the beach and see what was there. Most people were out of power or had generators running. One neighbor said we wouldn't see power until Wednesday! That surely meant I'd be taking perishables home with me!

Got back to the cottage to grab those things I needed to take home and took one more look around. Sure enough...the neighbor behind me had, not one tree down into their small backyard, but 3!! I hadn't noticed those earlier! This same neighbor is the one that had a tree come down one weekend when I was in the living room and heard quite a big noise. I don't have windows facing their property, so I had to go out and around behind the cottage to see. Yup, a tree lost a huge limb and I walked to their other house to let them know. That was the tree they contracted to remove due to a lot of rotting. But this time, seemingly healthy trees went down...snapped in half or just toppled over!!!

What a day! But today I go to accountants to send off the taxes. YEAH!!!

BTW...the date was quite nice, I really enjoyed meeting him. There may be some more dates...don't know for sure.

Have a splendid day, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Good for you and check ups! I'm in the market for a new, cheaper dentist....not too cheap, but my LONG time dentist seems out of line w/ her charges.

Yes, I set up his laptop. Windows 8.1 is the newest and I don't know that much about Apple computers, but those who have them seem to REALLY like them. Many of my friends with Macs are traders or creative types.

I like that you are making sure you get to Kinston again...LOL! Always good to find excuse for lunch.

My date today is w/ a guy from E. Lansing area. I was hoping to bike w/ him but the weather is very stormy. I should go to the cottage and see if things are ok as the storm evidently hit Muskegon pretty hard last night. We didn't get much here at all...not even that much rain.

I'm off to work for Enterprise this am...short day, but frees up another day this week for me.

Have a fabulous day, buddies

Hi Beach

Dental check-up went perfect. Good for another six months. The office is approx 175 miles from us and takes approx 3.5 hours to get there. We had enough time to stop and visit Linda's mom for a while before returning home. Then Friday, Linda and I took another day trip to Kinston to get my Tundra serviced, then on to Goldsboro for shopping at Sams Club, then a stop for a great seafood dinner in LaGrange. Today we return to Kinston with daughter Amy so she can get her car serviced. You know we're riding along just to go out for lunch afterwards...lol.

Glad to hear you had a nice date. And now another date with yet another guy. Good for you! Hope you have a terrific time, whatever you do.

So you set up boyfriend's new PC. Great. I'm in the market for another, something to replace my old desktop now that Windows XP is not supported. I'm sure it will be a laptop, but I don't know about Windows 8. With our iPhones and iPads, I'm seriously thinking of paying the premium $$$$s to get a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro.

64° this morning, sunny and 82° today. Another day for cargo shorts...lol

Have a terrific weekend Beach!

HI Brillo8 and buddies

My girlfriend and I decided to go to 12 YEARS A SLAVE last night. That was unbelievable! Very raw. I don't know how any person of color could have watched it and not become outraged. I'll be thinking about it for a long time!

Off to work and it will be a beautiful day!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...How are the teeth? LOL!

Off to work this am and looking forward to a super day. The temps are finally spring-like and driving should be very pleasant. I think it will be more of the same tomorrow when I have deliveries to do...BUT...Sunday, another story. The beginning of a bunch of rain, I think!
I have a date on Sunday...w/ a different guy..and we are hoping to go bike riding. It may not work for that! DARN! But we have some other plans.

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Norfolk is a day trip?? How far is it? Be safe and hope no big tooth problems!

Well, lunch went well and then went for a walk on the beach. There are serious icebergs out there. Saw several guys fishing on the pier and one showed us his catch...nice steelhead and a little brown trout...I saw dinner!

While I was in Mexico, he had me order a laptop for him from Costco. It arrived at my house while he was still away. I brought it w/ me to the cottage and would you believe? I set it up for him! Never imagined that it could be so easy!!!

We watched the Mandela movie and I fixed dinner...not fish...lol. I think I can say we really enjoyed each other. I hope he doesn't wait too long for another visit.

Hi Beach

Well Beach, it's that time again. Taking a day trip to Virginia for dental checkups at our family dentist in Norfolk. You know the deal....lol, he's family, and he's cheap...at least with the dental insurance he honors. So we drive on today. Should be back home by dark.

45°, sunny and 76° today.

Have a terrific day Beach!

Yes, still very busy around here. Or maybe I'm not managing my time well....lol

60° in Brices Creek currently. We had a shower earlier. That's passed. Clearing now. Sun's out. Into the low 70s today.

Thursday we take a day trip to Norfolk for dental checkups. Plan to be back home by nightfall.

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...I guess you are still VERY busy! Lucky for you that you can get spring work done so early. I will be able to begin this week. I'm hoping to get a lot done before it gets too warm. Lake Michigan has lots of icebergs and good snow covering in the woods. I still have quite a lot of snow in the yard at the cottage...most is because the sun doesn't hit those areas. Temps are up to 20 degrees cooler than a couple of miles inland!

I will get a visit from my new boyfriend today...we're going to lunch. Haven't seen him since I left Mexico....so I'm just a LITTLE bit excited...LOL! We're still pretty new at this stuff, but I'm encouraged.

Have a happy hump day, buddies

Bril...I guess we had a high of 55 yesterday, but even Mother Nature is having a hard time believing it...EVERYTHING IS SOOOOOOO BROWN! There was a lot of snow on the ground, in the woods that is, in the TC area on Sunday. Brown and ugly!

I got to the accountant yesterday and he is already working on the taxes! I AM SO HAPPY THAT IS OUT OF MY HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to work this am...and maybe I'll take the rest of the week off...LOL!

Bril...SOOOOO glad you are doing all that stuff! I'm not doing as much as I should. But I should be getting tax stuff to acct tomorrow!!

jimvander1...Thanks so much for reminding me about this being my 10th anniversary on this site. It's pretty hard to believe it's been that long.

Work for me today comprised of 2 trips to Traverse City to bring cars back to GR. I was really lucky...didn't have to drive ALL day.

Thanks again. I truly missed you too. :-) I just had a lot going on. Too many honey-dos from Linda...lol

Thanks...Yeah, gas hot water too. Should save us money by using gas vs the electric water heater.

Hey I'll try that.. Colbert online.

Bril...I'M SO GLAD you are fine! I have missed you, for sure.

Nice furnace...Water heater, too?

If you go online to The Colbert Report, I just bet you can watch that episode.

I KNOW if I make it, I'll have to pay up! But, not ALL of my profits! So, I'll keep making the $$...LOL!

I worked for Enterprise today, Edible Arrangements tomorrow, and Enterprise on Sunday! That will give me several days off to finalize my taxes and continue to make the GREEN...HaHaHa!

Hi Beach!

Seems I've been going non-stop since I last visited your place. With the warm to hot weather (we hit 89 Wednesday!), I have a lot of yard work to do.
And now I have a bit of catching up with you.. :-)

IRT your question "What kind of furnace did you select?" We got a Trane XR95. 95% efficiency. Low temp exhaust gases allows for venting "through-the-wall" with pvc. Just like the "power-vent" 50 gal hot water we selected. That finally shipped. So plumber estimates we may get that installed next week.

A big segment on New Bern!? Wow. Did you fall asleep.....lol ;-)

Taxes along w/ trading! All I can say is if you make it, you know Uncle's gonna take it...lol ;-)

I'm MISSED? Aww, thank you :-)

I think most of my outside work is finished for this week. I'm taking a long weekend. :-)

Have a great day!

Hi Beach!

Yeah, I'm here. Glad to hear you arrived home safely. Bet you now need a vacation so you can rest up...lol.

Alot's been happening the last three days. Our plumber came Wed and installed natural gas lines furnace, hot water and fireplace logs. Thursday the county inspector came and passed the install as expected, so today contractors replaced our old failing heat pump with a new gas furnace and central air unit. Gas company installed the gas meter today too. So we were up and running with nice warm heat. SO...SO much better than that darn heat pump we had. Now if it would just get cold. (it's 63 degrees out now).

Hope you have a great weekend Beach!!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Are you there???

Had an interesting flight home yesterday. Why is it that nearly every time I travel home, I have some kind of delay? Yesterday, out of Houston, we had a good hour delay because the 1st Officer didn't show up! On top of that, a poor mom traveling w/ 2 small children had to deal w/ a SCREAMING 3-4 yr old for nearly the whole time we were waiting.

Glad to be home! GO MSU!!

Have a happy evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Sunday, MC was great! We covered an awful lot of ground by foot and bus...about 5mi on foot at least. Saw the Revolution Square, National Art Museum, and the old Federal Building, which has really been turned into a great museum housing a wonderful Mayan exhibit...all in Spanish, of course.

The fish..yuk..dinner was Saturday night. And I've been having loads of fun with food here. Sunday after our excursion, we found a Chinese buffet with reasonable pricing...still in the downtown area. I was SO thirsty, I had to get half a beer down before I could get my plate. Then, went to load my plate up and everything looked good and much of it I could identify. At the end I saw something that looked like a tasty edamame dish, so I took a few. Got to the table and sampled some of my choices and then dug right into the "edamame." Put the entire thing into my mouth and began to chew. If someone had had a lighted match, I think I would have gone up in flames!!! It was THE HOTTEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! Everyone around was howling with laughter...keep in mind, of the 4 of us, there was only one other English speaker.
After, we walked to the nearest Metro...VERY crowded! We had the car parked some distance near other relatives' homes. Soooo in true Mexican fashion, I met the relatives!

What a DAY! I had a wonderful time.

Yesterday, was domestic day. I worked on peeling and dicing those overripe mangoes to set in the freezer...I have more today, too. Juiced nearly a doz oranges, fixed chicken rice soup, and cleaned the kitchen some.

That's it for now, buddies

Have a splendid day!

Hi Beach

Interesting account of the farmers market. So do I understand correctly that they picked the over-ripe stuff for you? If so, that's a shame. ....and your fish dinner. Sorry, but that's almost funny. Would have loved to see the expression on your face once you lasted it. :-) Sounds like it just wasn't your day for food....lol.

You mention a "love interest" and "relatives". So you're traveling with others? Great! I think it would be more fun to travel with others. :-)

Hope you had a great time in Mexico City yesterday!

Have a great day!!

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Glad you're enjoying vicariously! Your local restaurant sounds pretty authentic! But I'd still love to have you come to Mexico for all the other interesting things there are to see, hear, experience. Some things are SO American, others incredibly different.

At the market you see pretty much what a farmer's market would be in the States, but when you decide you want to buy, let's say...mangoes...3 kilos for 15 pesos and the worker just starts grabbing the fruit by the handfuls, weighs them and that's what you get! We bought strawberries yesterday and they were dead ripe. I didn't prepare them, but I'll guess a good deal were tossed.

My fish dinner was a disaster!!!!!!!!!! Ophelia, a relative of my love interest, gave him some seasoning mix in a plastic bag and said, "Add a cup of flour and dredge the fish in it." Before I added the flour, I tasted the mix to see how strong it was...didn't seem too bad. So I proceeded to mix in the flour, etc and bake the fish. Of course the oven is not one I'm used to...no temp settings at all and no thermometer to see how hot it was getting. I cooked as long as I thought it needed, but had to throw it into the microwave to finish.
So, we sit down to eat. The fish looked really good, but one bite and OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! It was beyond palatable! It was so salty, lemony....a disaster! Luckily, we had bought a nice chicken from a vendor a couple of days before. That filled the bill.

So, to Mexico City today w/ relatives.

Have a wonderful day, buddies

Hi Beach!

Gee, sure sounds like you've been having a wonderful time! :-) I would just love the food, I'll bet! Hey, we have a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant that surprisingly is rated the No. 1 restaurant in New Bern, according to TripAdvisor. They serve true authentic Mexican. Linda and I tried it a few weeks ago. Just fantastic! One elderly gentleman came in to order as I was trying to decide what to get, and he recommended I try the taco lengua (tongue). I ordered one and it was surprisingly good...lol. I'm going back to try one of their sopes on our next visit. Never have one before.

I've been working outside each day this week, going out relatively early, since the weather has been so nice. (60s-70s, but no 80s like you...lol) Today being Sunday, it's a good excuse to rest.

I enjoyed your updates this morning. Since you're posting each day, I'll make sure I "tune in tomorrow" for your latest update!

Have a FUN day today Beach!
:-)

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Returned a little after noon from an excursion to a Mexican water park. The water used comes from deep inside a mountain and is very warm...bath water for sure. I've sipped pulque and atole, eaten fresh made gordittas and tamales. Went to a different market this afternoon...much bigger. Bought so much fruit and vegies, I don't know how they'll all get eaten before they go bad. Also, had a large glass of refreshing creamed coconut milk. SOOOO good!

I'll fix bass tonight for dinner. That'll be a first.

Have a stupendous evening, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Yesterday went to a very local market! I was no doubt the only Gringo around! Bought lots of fruit...mangos, oranges, guava, watermelon, and some cilantro!

Later today, we'll go to some water park. That will be nice since the temp is going to 89 or so!

More later, buddies

HI Brillo8 and buddies

What a change from MI! In the 80s and cool at night...couldn't ask for nicer weather.

Today we're supposed to go to a water park to swim. I guess a stay overnight is in order, too. Total adventure for me!

Stay warm, all my northern buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

I arrived safely in Mexico City. Unbelievable how many people there are in one city! Had 2 subway rides...with a fairly long walk between...and a very nice "city" bus to take me out about 25 miles. I never saw one spot where the housing stopped!

Not sure what will happen tomorrow, but I'll post something.

Have a bueno day, buddies

Hi Brillo8 and buddies

Bril...Ready to go!! Hope I'll have good luck getting there, getting here, and getting home at the end!

By the time I get home, I'll have the house to myself...for the most part. My girlfriend, whose been staying with me over a month, will be gone when I get back...except for a lot of her stuff! I'm hoping the weather will be nice enough for her damaged condo will be liveable.

The weather is ideal for flying today...going to be very messy tomorrow. I feel pretty lucky about that!

Hope to see you tomorrow, buddies
