Sorry about that, MickD. I ended up buying something called PDF Converter Pro, which works like a charm. Even better to have something free, though. Free is GOOD --- or so my Democrat friends tell me.

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

'Morning, Geezer.

A belated g'mornin', dp 'n all from SoCal, where it's been in the comfortable 80's r the ast few days. Heat warnings for the next three days...o the gh 90's locally.

Dp- Well, I couldn't find a solution to the problem with installation of Adobe Reader(for PDF), and neither could ASAPTechHelp PC Repair, so I had them install the free Foxit Reader at their suggestion...Works as well as Adobe ever did.

Good morning....um, well....good afternoon. Seems I don't do mornings anymore...can't sleep much at night.

WR-INC, that's been quite a few years ago, but as I remember, HP offered a free Windows 7 upgrade on that particular machine because there'd been so many complaints about the slowness and the resource-gobbling character of Windows Vista. Anyway, I got it though HP/Compaq. You can still get upgrade discs, though, you just have to either pay them the big money or find a seller on eBay who has a better deal. I'm about to put the sweetest thing I've ever owned up for sale on Amazon (I think I'm about totally sick of eBay). It's a Toshiba Tecra A11 with a 15.6 inch screen, an I5 processor, the max ram...which I believe is 6 gigs...and a 500 gig hard drive that's dual booted with Windows 7 Professional AND Windows 8.1 --- both legal and with COAs. I LOVE the thing....but I've got computers stacked UP in here!

MadDog, I just checked hp.com and they have ALL the drivers for that machine....for Vista, that is. Check it out.

By the way, the buyer in Oregon apologized to me for implying I'd "taken out all the good stuff." That's after I offered to GIVE him/her ALL of the remaining 20,000 or so cards free for NOTHING if he/she wanted to drive to SA to pick them up. Seems the person was disinclined to pay $12 to return the stinking worthless cards in order to get the $3 back he/she was dumb enough to pay for them to start with. At least eBay the Thief made out like a bandit: They charged ME fees on the TWELVE BUCKS shipping, in addition to fees on the pissy three bucks the buyer paid me for his/her bid.

Oh, well...hopefully selling on Amazon will be better.

MadDog, first thing I'd do is do an upgrade from Vista to Windows7. It is a BUNCH better than Vista. After I bought Kimbu's laptop from those morons at Best Buy (NEVER again!), that's one of the first things I did. Hard to give advice long distance, but if you'll email me the ID on the laptop, I may be able to help more. I'll PM you with my email address as I don't want to give it out here. Also, if or when you're ready to spring for a replacement, I have several on hand, and I'm about to put two of them --- large screen Toshiba Tecras withe I6 processors, up for sale. I also have several old HARD-working HPs that are still just wonderful if you just need a serviceable machine....and I don't have all that much in them.
When you email, be sure to give me the make and model of the laptop and whatever else you know about it.

GOT to get to bed! Good night, all.

Doc...sounds like they have issues....you get what you pay for when buying on the internet. That's a risk you take.

I've been dealing with a friend's laptop....her laptop wouldn't get on the internet and after she gave it to me with no power cord and no discs (I knew she had them all because I gave it to her), I had to recreate the base OS system restore disk on DVD and redo it myself. Window's Vista Home Premium is a pain! I still can't seem to locate all the drivers for it but it is working great and has no bloatware! I'm using it now since mine seems to be acting up. Several of the browsers won't access a bunch of sites. I may have to dump mine now. I don't play....it probably has some conflicts. Any advice bro?

Ah, well, the guy in Killeen still hasn't paid me for the laptop, and now I've got some twerp in Oregon who thinks I'm going to refund the eleven+ bucks he was dumb enough to spend to get a box full of sports cards shipped across the country, because he doesn't like them. Har! This one must be about ten years old, to pay that much for shipping that sort of garbage and then accuse me of taking out "the good stuff" before sending him the rest. WHAT "good stuff," you moron?

Oh, well...after that I'm tossing the rest of these things in the garbage. Fact is, I told the little jerkoff he can come dumpster-dive in front of my house if he wants to look for "the good stuff."

Good night, all.

'Morn....wups, afterNOON, y'all.

MickD, a bunch of years ago, my spoose and I went over to a place near here called "Fooore's Country Store" to do a little "daynsing" and "beer-drankin'," and about halfway through the night, some old hairy bum with a big nose walked up on the stage and sang for a while, then left. I thought he was pretty good for a country singer (NOT my kind of music!), but I didn't pay much mind to it 'til later when I saw a picture of Willie Nelson. Well, guess who that old bum turned out to be? Yep.....and the neat thing about him was that even HE didn't think of himself as something extra-special...one reason I've liked Willie ever since --- besides the fact the boy "sold his soul to the Army" for a while, just as I sold mine to the AF. Actually, I'd vote for Willie for President...seriously.

Well, looks as if you're all doing well here. Me, I gotta go get a laptop packed up for its trip to a vet in Killeen.

Later.

Good morning everyone,

Well, the cabin is ready to be shut down, even though yesterday was warmer than most of the Summer days up there.

My MIL's house closing is Wednesday, and the movers are coming Saturday. I'll be moving small stuff beginning Thursday.

My wife is showing signs of tension that I hope will abate with the success of this operation.

Happy Monday! 68 degrees and raining this morning. It drizzled off and on yesterday but by nightfall it began to rain harder and pretty steady.

Doc - hope you can get your grass cut; I was glad to get mine done on Saturday because it's now pretty wet.

Geez - :)

Weekend has passed and it's now back to work.

Our daughter came down to spend some time with us; we had an early dinner, helped find her a new vacuum, and had dessert. We had a wonderful time talking and catching up. She has some new opportunities at work so she shared information about it; she's doing quite well.

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!

Blo, considering the kind of human garbage we have in this neighborhood now, I don't even want to THINK about breathing the same AIR, much less whatever they're snorting, sniffing, snoodling or whatever else they do with their stuff.

Right now it looks as if I'm just gonna have to go to bed early....m'eyes are trying to quit on me.

Doc, my next-door-neighbor (Sal O'Mella's cousin) and his wife smoke so much dope (outside) that I can get high just sitting in my office with the window open! Of course, these days the stuff smells like skunks, so no thanks!!! But if you could get your neighbors to cooperate, maybe you could solve your problems without buying a single ounce!

Took the dog to the park today and she had a spasm, barking at EVERYTHING. It was like being in a park full o' Doc's maroons. One guy with three(3) daschunds gave us a dirty look--maybe it was the mustard, onions, buns and relish I was carrying for the hot dogs. Suspicious SOB, but he kept his dogs away from us. Koko barked anyhow.

Happy Sunday! 66 degrees this morning.

Doc - indeed! She doesn't age!

This morning's walk (just under 2 miles) is complete and I'm now enjoying a cup of coffee and visiting here.

Yesterday turned out to be a bit less relaxing than planned. We went for a 2+ mile walk and then I decided to mow the yard. I also looked at the hedges and decided they needed trimming. After a three hour set of chores, I was finished, but everything look mah-ve-lous!

We had an early dinner with our son, d-in-law, and grand-girls. We had a wonderful time.

We completed some grocery shopping after dinner and finally made it home around 8:00p for some relaxation.

Off to continue the day.

Have a great day all!

Hey, Blo! Good to "see" you.

Actually, I have a small tubful of that stuff, because I've always been leery of taking ANY sort of dope and because it plugs me up like concrete. Now, though, I've discovered that if I have a little cupful of yogurt, I can head that off, so now all I have to do is get over the idea I might get "hooked" on the damned stuff. It DOES happen...even with Tramadol...and I do HATE the feeling of having to take MORE to keep from feeling worse and WORSE.

What REALLY needs to happen is for MJ to be decriminalized all over the country, so that old poots like me can just grow some in the garden and get --- from what I've been TOLD, at least --- better pain relief with fewer side effects than ANY of this freaking EXPENSIVE "doctor dope." 'Course, Tramadol is really cheap, but it's REALLY bad in some ways, too. If I could grow a little pot in the garden for The LuLu to smoke, it might relieve her of more pain AND take care of the smoking habit that's STILL choking me to death, even though I quit over ten years ago!

But why should we expect Washington to do something that makes sense? They never HAVE!

Oh, well, good night, all. I really REALLY love all of you --- even those of you with hairy legs and BO.

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

It's currently 80F lakeside here. Vini and I are alone at the cabin - my wife and the neighbor ladies went to town shopping. Heck, you can do that at home.

A couple of small projects done, nap taken, and ready to go to the Stalker Lake Golf Course customer appreciation night. I'm a bit early, so I'll have to find something else to do.

What the heck Doc? You better get a big bottle of that Doctor Dope cuz you just might live another twenty years!!!

Hey Bone...nope, I'm not retired. Not even close!! And I moved away from Cattledonia, too, but only about 5 miles.

Doc, the lowest low I've had was a 64, and that felt nasty. I would hate to think about a 53!

Well, as they don't and never did say in Lower Slobbovia:

"Toooitruiueiotieruueywepopew[rirklkf, Okriijgjrfrrgrir!"

(Which, of course, doesn't mean "Good morning, Pipples!"

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

Oh, MAN...after mowing a little grass and doing a little more in the yard yesterday, I felt so freaking bad I went to bed early, where I found myself feeling even WORSE, so I eventually got up, came in here, took a DOUBLE dose of Doctor Dope, played a few stupid games, then went back to bed and slept REALLY well. Don't exactly feel like a million bucks, but, then again, nowadays a million bucks is about like what used to be a hunnerd-dollar bill, so that'll do.

Dang, grmoore...if that lady of yours were any younger, you might be guilty of something --- even in JAWJA!

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

(If you don't get that one, let Geezer explain it...he'll know what I mean, but he just isn't QUITE slick enough to beat me to it! LOL LOL LOL, etc., etc.)

Later, y'all. I got COFFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Greetings Doc, Baylee, Mindy, PayPump, Mick, WRINC, Joelimo, Geezer, Wack, MadDogUSMC, Loree71, Full of Fun, Chasms, blkvette00, Psycho Sid, & Others:

Happy Saturday! 66 degrees this morning.

I got to sleep in a little this morning around the cats deciding it was time for us to get up starting around 6:00am lol.

We completed the remaining two interviews yesterday morning and made a selection. All three candidates were well qualified so our deliberation process had to dive into intangibles.

{Geez - you were quite competitive, thanks for applying and interviewing! see below on notification procedures}

The federal rules require that I submit the name to HR so they can "officially" communicate the offer the selectee. Hopefully they move quickly we can start the transition process from the selectee's current position to ours.

The Georgia State Volleyball team lost 3 consecutive games to lose the match last night against a very tall and good Arkansas-Little Rock Team. While the team is improving individually and collectively under a first year coach, wins remain out of reach right now. There are flashes of brilliant play but they aren't sustained. Surprisingly (and pleasantly so) there is a pretty good fan base who attend the games.

Tonight we celebrate my wife's birthday; it was the 18th but due to her Dad's funeral she requested we delayed festivities until later. We'll have dinner with the grand-girls, our son and daughter-in-law. Our daughter has to work so we'll celebrate with her and her boyfriend at another time.

Other than that, it should be a rather relaxing weekend.

Have a great day all!

Special Ed Yankees?.. I never thought of that subject, Special Ed Bonehead..."And, and, and"

I can't help it if I'm slow.. Speaking "Slow".. I'm heading down to Detroit for my high school reunion.

For a high school that does not exist anymore, just the swimming pool at McNichols and Grand River Avenue.

Detroit, what a great municipality, especially the police department.

Good evening! Plans are to go visit my oldest bestest friend in a day or so. Then the weather will be cool enough and less buggy, so we can start finally on clearing up our acres of free firewood = all the fallen trees from the ice storm. Can't wait to chop and saw and haul and stack and haul more and sort and stack and . . . . . .

Bone, if you quit THAT job, do NOT move to Texas! We don't mind normally abnormal Yankees, here, but Special Ed Yankees are NOT welcome!

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

Man, I just made a trip to the grocery store and came in so freaking hot and sweaty I just STRIPPED and put a towel in my chair.

Now I is COOLING it!

LOL LOL LOL, etc., etc.

Well, admittedly, "it" doesn't take a whole lotta cooling, but....
