Good evening!

Sid, I see those little signs on the gas pump that give the amount of the tax, but can't remember right now. I'll try to make a note next time I need gas. But it's different for every province, with Alberta being the cheapest - and they have no sales tax, last I heard. I try to avoid figuring out how much we are really paying for gas. I'd have to convert litres into Imperial gallons to do that -- NOT US gallons. If your figure is right, you'd have to multiply by 1.25, I think, to get our gallons.

Doc, detached is just what it sounds like, a duplex is one apt. on top of another -- but at least one of those would be a rental unit. A semi is semi-detached, so there is another house righ beside it, sharing one wall. There aren't that many row houses around TO, but some huge ones are being built in the outer burbs these days.

BB, how can you folks in Canada buy gasoline at $4.13 per US gallon? That's as bad as California or worse..

How much is tax on (1) L of gasoline in Canada? Multiply that times 3.785 cuz that will give us the equivalent of a US gallon of Canadian tax, which is 3.785 L per US gallon... You're above average intelligence - figure it out for me will ya?

Howdy.

I am speaking to you from a newly-resurrected HP Omni 120 that Sister-in-Law and Beautiful Person Linda Lea was about to throw in the garbage a while back, but decided to drop off here today, saying it just went crazy a while back so she got herself a new one. All it took was a trip through the "restore to factory specs" routine and here we are with an "all-in-one" desktop mosheen with a 20-inch screen, a 1TB hard drive, 6GB of memory, and an AMD E450 dual-core processor (But since I don't "speak" AMD, I can't tell you how good/bad the processor is.).

I sure LIKE it, but I sure don't NEED it, so make me an offer I can't/won't refuse.

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

BayleeBug, I don't know from "detached" homes/houses, I guess. I never had one or lived in one that was "ATtached," so you gotta 'splain that for me!

ANYway, I gotta get myself outside to see what's HOPPENIN'!

Later.

BB, that's some high dollar real estate.

There are some high dollar houses around me here in beautiful Tittabawassee Township... Executives from Dow Chemical in Midland, MI.

Good morning!

Doc, detached house prices in this metro. area are close to a million $, and that's not a typo. That includes new and resale, but not semis or condo apts. Our house is in very bad shape, but the land value has climbed so high that it could be scary, if we found out how much it is these days.

Good morning, all. Chilly today, probably hot tamale.

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

Baby Dotter left her Sebring here with BAD-sounding brakes. Daddy gets all the good stuff. Sure wish I'd had the ooomph to get it over to CarX early this morning. I'll wait 'til later...or early tomorrow morning.

Yep, MadDog, only half a mil. Shoot...a pittance! Those people ALL drive Mercy D's and Beamers, though, so one can tell they're suffering.

Oh, well....we all live in different worlds, it seems. I like mine, with a fully-paid-for glorified house trailer, a lot and a half, and nobody hounding me about flying an American flag or having three puppies rather than the prescribed max of two or whatever. Only real trouble with having a homeowners association that resembles NO homeowners association is the resultant "flea markets" and "junkyards" like the ones down at Jose Mexico's and his next-door neighbor's, where there's enough junk piled up in the yard and under tarps that it looks very much like Acapulco Flea Market --- complete with fleas and ticks.

Yep....I'd move to Alaska, too, if I were young and rich:

"ONLY three eighty-five five!"

Sounds good...I'll take two!

Happy Tuesday! 47 degrees this morning. 23 min walk complete. So much for the projected rain yesterday (not that I'm complaining, lol); I didn't see a drop at my place.

I'm into the office today and will telework tomorrow to forego the likely traffic snarls during the respective commutes incident to Thanksgiving holiday traffic.

Both the Panthers' basketball teams scored wins yesterday. For a change, the women (2-0) have a better record than the men (2-2).

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!

Yessum, it was lovely, and so was today. I say again: Thankee, Lord!

Watching "Buying Alaska" right now. Those poor folks with only half a mil to spend on a house just really make me sad. Y'reckon we could get a givvermint agency set up to help 'em out?

Personally, I think we should give 'em a couple mil each to attain their dream homes.

Whatchathink, Folks? You won't mind chipping in a few thou extra in taxes, will you?

Me, I'd just be happy to help 'em out, but I'm a little short right now.

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

Good night. Gotta go check out my inner eyelids.

Good evening! Sid, your weather sounds like ours, and something in our conditions threw our hydro off for at least 5 hours tonight. At least we didn't freeze, and we deliberately got a propane stove when we moved out here to the sticks.

Doc, yes it sounds lovely -- enjoy your basking, and have an extra few minutes on my behalf!

50's in the a.m. 80's in the p.m. Sure doesn't feel like the Thanksgiving weeks I remember. Guess I'll just give thanks for still being here, regardless of the temperature.

Happy Monday! 62 degrees this morning and wet. 90% chance of rain today.

Got in a 20+ minute walk this morning; it was actually pretty pleasant outside. I will work from home at least this morning due to a medical appointment.

re: Panthers on Saturday - Yeah a score would have been good. I couldn't watch the game as I was calling the final volleyball match.

Speaking of football - Interesting outcomes on several fronts yesterday!

Off to start the day.

Wellum, I just came in from sunbathing in my rocking chair and enjoying the nice breeze and watching my happy HAPPY bonsai plants sitting out in the sun.

It is just amazingly beautiful out there today...perfect temps and a nice breeze. While I was there, a beautiful flutterby-Angel checked out my nose and flew on over to Peppy Sue's, as if to tell me she preferred dog-angels to practicing sinners anyday. Oh, well....just fulfilling my role in the "scheme of things." I know I'm not much in the eyes of most, but I do think He likes me --- and that's sufficient.

Hope things are going well for all of you.

Happy Sunday! 50 degrees and raining this morning. The rain has slowed at my house but the cat dishes were full of water so it obviously had also "poured" here earlier. I guess the 100% rain chance was realized this morning.

MadDog - indeed!

Interesting sports day yesterday: Noles survived again; Georgia State Football team held Clemson scoreless and just 138 yards of offense in the second half, losing the contest 28-0; the volleyball team lost to 21-9 App State in 3 sets. With their win on Friday night, they did clinch a post season tournament berth, the first since 2011. Tournament play for the volleyball team starts on Thanksgiving in San Marcos, TX.

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!

WR, we are stuck with about the same temps, and it is messing up and creating a lot of slush. If we don't get rid of the s*** on the ground before it melts, there will be a layer of ice under everything, like last year.

Raining here and HOT! Well, actually, it's only about 68, but the dang humidity makes it really MISERABLE! FINALLY got my AC going after something like a five-hour power outage, something that almost always happens when we get rain.

Glad to see you're all in the normal range....whatever that is.

Greetings Doc, Baylee, Mindy, PayPump, Mick, WRINC, Joelimo, Geezer, Wack, MadDogUSMC, Loree71, Full of Fun, Chasms, blkvette00, Psycho Sid, & Others:

Happy Saturday! 37 degrees this morning. John in Chicago is getting rain today; I understand we're supposed to get some of that tomorrow ~ 100% chance.

It was nice to sleep in a little bit this morning; I awakened a few mins ago and am enjoying my coffee!

Training went well (all day) yesterday and of course traffic was atrocious at the end of the day trying to traverse the route to Georgia State around 4:30p. Thankfully I had my Waze app that redirected me off of the interstate highways and on to multiple surface streets where I only met a few tie-ups and got me to the Sports Arena in better time.

The Georgia State volleyball team made it exciting last night having to play 5 sets and playing back from what looked like near losses with scores (20-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, and 16-14 ). This match win sealed their spot in the upcoming Sun Belt Tournament. It was nerve wracking but quite fun to call!

The Georgia State Men's basketball team, in their midst of their 10 day road trip blew a 12 point lead and wound up losing by 10 to Colorado State. It was broadcast online via the Mountain West Conference Internet feed and was hard to watch! The team is now 1-2 overall with 5 more road games to complete before they return on Dec 4th.

MadDog - Congrats to UK! We're just not playing good basketball right now or to the guys' potential. It was hard to watch it knowing the talent is there and they weren't using it!

Choco - I typically stayed out of the night life in Itaewon; being a 1SG, it wasn't a good thing to be seen in the "vill" bars by the troops because typically things didn't lead to positive outcomes for most soldiers in that environment. I consumed mine either out in the countryside after playing a concert for the "locals," at various hosts' homes, or in one of the clubs on post in Yongsan.

I have the final volleyball match of the season this evening at 6:00p versus Appalachian State during which we will recognize the two seniors.

Off to start the day.

Have a great day all!

Hate to break it to you, Choco, but there never was an actual beer by the name of P-38, named after one of the planes that cleaned Admiral Yamamoto's clock after a record-breaking flight to intercept his plane over the Pacific.

Among the TI's and others at Lackland during the fifties, the joke was that you'd sometimes "drink one and pee thirty-eight." In my case, at least, it often seemed just that way. So the joke came from the name of the plane and the fact that it often seemed like you peed a LOT more than you drank.

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

ANYway, I had enough of all of it back then.

Good night.

GR, I used to drink mine at the UN Club in Itaewon my first tour there and then spread myself around at the local bars outside Osan my second tour. Taught at both Seoul American High School and Osan American High School for a total of 15 years in the Republic. Married there, raised both sons there up to middle school.

OB was my staple. That P-38 beer was named after a twin engine, twin tail fighter in WWII and yes, I've not only heard of it, but swilled a little bit while my brother was stationed at Lackland in the 50s--I was a minor at the time, but the beer was all right. Not as good as the Korean--in country--version of OB, though.

Sid, I was talking about now--no snow now.

'Morning.

Couldn't sleep, so I lay there for a few hours, and now I'm up drinking coffee. Sure is good coffee, too. Few days ago, we got really tired of the cranky old "Mr. Coffee" thing, so I asked Kimbu to pick up a Black and Decker on her way home from work. Little more expensive than Mr. Coffee, but this thing makes GOOD coffee...and it doesn't take thirty minutes to do is, the way the old stopped-up MC did. Thing is, you can only douche those things so many times 'til they just hardly work at all....and they're junk to start with.

You guys enjoyed your "OB" beer, huh? Well, when I was a "HUT-TWO"er out at Lackland AFB back in the fifties, we'd all go to the Mugwum beer joint or the Copper Kettle drive-in or to some other fine establishment to drink "P-38" Beer.

Betcha' never heard of that, huh?

...but I'll wait to see if anybody has before I tell all about it.

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

Sure am glad to hear that, WR-INC...but remember that if/when ANYthing goes wrong, you have the Docputer Lifetime Gar-on-TEE!

LOL LOL LOL, etc., etc.
