Being retired and living 20 miles from the nearest community, the dog has free range of our 200 acre property so he walks himself.

Trust me, there's two things an intruder on our property does not want to meet up with and that's our dog or me and as bad-assed as the dog can be I believe given a choice they'd pick the dog every time.

When our driveway is too messy to use for driving, the pup gets a lot of exercise running up and down while we are walking to the vehicle. So these days that, plus a visit to a p-a-r-k, is usually enough.

Chunkee likes to leave "messages" on Country Club Boulevard; it's her "social network."

Our small dog gets enough exercise just running around the house and when we let her out to go potty.

Not so often, but they do like a good run in the back yard.

We are out multiple times, day and night. He has an acre to run on and lots of energy. Playing Frisbee is at the top of his list (next to swimming). He also loves to smell the flowers.. burying his face and sniffing them every time he is out.. one of these days I fear he'll inhale a bee!

choco, is your poetry intentional or found? But you should replace "we walk her at night" with "we walk her at midnight". That scans much better!

On Sep 19, 2013 11:44:27 PM, I clicked "Post Message" but when I looked I realized that I never answered the question... so here I'll answer the question:

I typically walked Rocky twice a day, once soon after I got up (around 7:00 AM) and once soon after the 7:00 PM news was over. He hadn't mastered a way to tell us he was about to pop. He would pee sometimes but he never pooped inside after we found him doing it in the computer room. During the 7:00 PM walk, I was usually drenched with sweat from April to October. And, being a good GasBuddy who combines errands when I go out and drive, I combined errands when I walked Rocky. When I walked Rocky, I almost always was going to get the mail or take trash to the Dumpster. Sometimes on the way back in, I'd grab something that was in the back of the Escape that I bought and haul it up. I usually can get all the perishable food up the stairs in one trip, but I leave stuff like paper towels and toilet paper to take up when I'm heading up with a free hand.

Over at my BFF's Mom's house, they let all four dogs out to run in the back yard for a while every three hours. Given that Rocky hides in small dark places when it's raining outside (I think he's sensing thunder before we can hear it), he won't go out when it's raining. I tried once to see what I could get him to do, and I couldn't even get him out on the balcony even with me holding a Beggin' Strip. I don't know what he likes about them so much, my BFF tried one (I wouldn't do it) and she said it tasted terrible.

My BFF has Rocky, since he's more her dog than mine, although I paid the adoption fees. I will probably let her keep him if she wants him and get a cat instead. Cats are better apartment pets, they don't have to be taken out and walked although the apartment community is very dog-friendly.

When I go over and see Rocky, he jumps up on the sofa and starts licking me. When I have Rocky and he hasn't seen my BFF for a while, he goes absolutely nuts when she comes in! He's the same way about my BFF's Mom.

My BFF wants to come over tomorrow. She'll go nuts if I'm dirty, and I'm dirty enough I feel nasty. But I'm not taking a shower until right before I go over there as I'm planning to unload the Escape, clean the apartment, and haul trash to the Dumpster. I'm going to try to talk her into doing the refrigerator as she has this knack about messing up refrigerator shelves, stove tops, and counter tops.

Our dog is a barker, a puller and an anti-social hound. We walk her at night when nobody is around.

I have the day shift, and he gets at least one from me every day, plus car rides when he lucks out. And then the night shift takes over for the last one of the day.

Well lets see.....I walk around the park, over to the golf course, through the field, a few laps around the airport, across the river, into the forest, by the glades, visit a few fire hydrants, then home again! Oh wait....I don't have a dog! I think my cat is swearing at me right now *&%#@*! Gotta go............

I take my dog at least once a day for walk. Sometimes one of the kids comes with me....We go all over the place, sometimes I walk him around town, sometimes to the river to swim, sometimes I take him to Tim Hortons for a special treat (timbit), sometimes I take him to run errands, to the grocery store or whatever, I will be walking him to get him nails cut in a couple days...
