After having so many people admire my pictures on my profile someone suggested a "Pets" topic. Gas Buddy suggested I start it here. Here goes!

Hi y'all.

Just spent the past 3 days doing yard work. It is so hot, and I am old; so I try not to overdo it. I was interrupted a couple times by thunder boomers and occasional lightning. Came inside to find the cats fast asleep and none-plussed by the rumbling. I guess it doesn't bother them anymore.

Sorry that it seems like you're talking to yourself, 10k. I was working thru some issues. Hopefully I am better now, and can chat with you on a more frequent basis.

Hi Rocky, DJ, Jennie, Q, and Chex. Woof woof, and meow meow....

I'll be back....

speaking of dogs and t-boomers, i don't think DJ has seen a t-boomer yet she doesn't wanna run out into..had another one tonight, and she was beating down the door to get out there..

our sub 90° streak is still alive..it was 87 today, and we still haven't had a 90° temp since July 16-amazin' - but we have two straight 93° days predicted for tomorrow and Thursday..we've dodged one 93° prediction already, but it's gotta be tough dodging two consecutive ones..

have a great Wednesday 2s & 4s..

Sneakers: poor Rocky..Houston is probably not a good place to have a dog that's scared of t-boomers..i guess i've been lucky, cause my last three dogs just sleep right through them..when Hurricane Fran hit in 1996,the dog i had then just snored through the entire hurricane..

have a great Tuesday 2s and 4s..

We had a thunderstorm this afternoon and he was shaking like Jell-O. He'll also jump up in the Escape and tremble the whole time.

Rick- you should be able to tell I am still bogged down by excessive hours at work. I am hardly ever on here to post. Too tired. Come home, get ready for the next day, eat, shower, up for an hour, and I head to bed. 57 hours this week.. 6 today. Started at 4:15 am.

10k - it's ok. I am just happy to see you're still here!

Hiya Sneakers, Rocky, and it was nice to hear about your adventures I in Tx. Thanks! Rocky should have bunked with you. Dogs and smoke don't mix well. Actually - hotels should all be non- smoking!

Sneakers: we've been blessed so far this summer, as we were last summer..last year we set a record for the fewest 90° days, with only nineteen, and this year we've only had eighteen to date, but that's about to change next week: 90° temps all week-ugh..the humidity has been much tougher this year than it was last year though ; ( one thing on my bucket list is to visit the Alamo and do the River Walk.."Jell-o" ??-Rocky would bit ya if you had re-named him with that name-lol..

Rick: yup, waded through flood waters-lol..as dry as it was, it didn't take long for it to disappear though-along with a good deal of my firewood-bummer..some of it is in the crik..i might can salvage it if we have a dry spell..the rest of it is downstream somewhere-sighhhh..DJ says "Arf" back to Jennie..

have a great Saturday 2s and 4s..

We kept wanting to get to the Alamo but other things interfered.

We did the River Walk also, took the little boat ride. Wonderful place.

The BF and the BFF did the River Walk. I slept three hours the night before and I crashed in the motel.

We got some of the local food, but then again we went to LongHorn Steakhouse.

I'm from Houston. To me, San Antonio is dry. It's hot enough though it doesn't matter it's hot anyway.

My BFF's BF asked me how Rocky got his name. I said that was what he was named at the shelter and we couldn't think of any better name. The BF commented that if you talk to Rocky half-loud, he shook. He asked "What about JELL-O?"

I was in the non-smoking and non-dog room because I don't smoke and the rooms only had one bed.

Rocky doesn't smoke either, but he had to stay in the dog and smoking room.

It was an unplanned trip, we had fun, but we didn't make it to the Alamo. We didn't stop my mail, so staying longer pretty much wasn't an option. (When we got home, it seemed my BFF would never stop pulling things out of the mailbox.)

My BFF slept while her BF and I went out to get breakfast. First of all, we were getting very low on gas. The trip computer went to zero but I was very very nervous. The route we took through San Antonio seemed not to have any gas stations. I commented "Go out to the feeder, there's certainly gas stations on the feeder." (The access road that run next to the interstate.) We went miles on the feeder and not a single gas station. Then, we hit paydirt. I saw an Exxon and the BF saw a Shell right next to each other. So, we filled the tank at the Shell. (I wasn't driving or I would have gone to the Exxon because it was a penny cheaper, and I wasn't going to tell him to go over to the Exxon as by that time it was on the wrong side of the road.) Then, we decided to go to Denny's. The Denny's was standing room only and by that time it was lunch time.

My iPhone was dead and wouldn't take a charge. The BF wanted me to have an operating phone in case we got separated. I knew the drill with it and said I needed to go to the Apple Store. So, her BF and I went over to North Star Mall, the location of San Antonio's only Apple Store. Fortunately, I was able to get an appointment at the Genius Bar soon after they opened. My past experience with Apple warranty repairs was they swap the phone for a new one. Genius Diane looked at my phone and she pulled out some foreign object debris that was in the charging port. She took it in the back and tested it. She said there was nothing wrong with it but it'll need to charge for a while.

So, here comes the BFF and the BF to pick me up. Us guys were starving but the BFF wasn't. So, we kicked her out at the motel and we headed off to LongHorn Steakhouse, The BF had never been there before and it's my favorite place. So we went driving around San Antonio going to LongHorn Steakhouse and charging the iPhone through the USB port. It took us about two hours to eat, and by that time I was ready to crash because I slept only three hours the night before. We went back to the motel, and I was very drowsy but I don't think I slept.

The BFF and the BF went down to the Riverwalk while I decided to stay in out of the heat. I spent the evening watching TV. (The same things I would have watched at home but on the corresponding channels in San Antonio.)

I had a very good nights' sleep excluding a few momentary awakenings. I turned the air conditioning down to 68 and slept under blankets. I usually turn it to 74 at home and pull a light blanket over me when if I get cold.

We all got up and packed up. Then, we went driving through San Antonio and took pictures of the buildings. We stopped at the historical First Presbyterian Church and got pictures of the ornate stained glass.

Then, we hit the road. People food for the people and ALPO for Rocky. At least the people liked their food.

wow-i fight through flood waters to get here, and i'm all alone ; (

boy, we got the rain, and then some tonight that we've been needing..it stopped about an hour ago, and i can just began to see my grass, on the west side of my yard-too bad this happened after dark, cuz there was no way to get pix..my barn got flooded, and it surrounded the cement pond, but fortunately none of that muddy water got in..

DJ got soaked, and when she went out the last time, she musta stepped on something, cause she's working over her right rear foot..she won't let me get close to it..if it's not better in a day or two, she will be heading to the vet..

have a great Wednesday 2s and 4s..

Sneakers: wow-2 motel rooms, and you were all alone in one, while Rocky partied with the others-lol..hope y'all had a great trip..Rocky sounds like my dog now-she had so much people food, the only time she will eat dog food is when she's really hungry and eating everything in sight, or when i refuse to give her people food-after day 3, she will generally eat hers, then i feed her some people food again, and we start the cycle over-sighhhh..

i think it's funny that Rocky turned up his nose to the Alpo-"nope, gimme that food y'all been eatin'"-funny..

penske: sorry i jumped on you, my bad..it's just that when a blog group asks you to join, which was shocking to me, they should already know how you feel about "stuff", and they did..i think everybody got bored agreeing with each other, and against some of our wishes, the admins invited "the other side" into the blog-and then had to gall to suspend one of the original bloggers cause he posted something that somebody outside the group sent to him, and they thought was offensive..i could see then how that blog was gonna turn out, so i asked them to delete me, since i couldn't delete myself..at first the admin who brought me into the blog said "no", but after i let them know how i felt about my buddy being put in a 2 day time out, i was cut loose..i can only imagine what was said about me then, but as a friend of mine says "whoooooooo cares"..

Calinda: i didn't mean to intentionally not speak to you last night-i saw your comment, and was going back to you, but i didn't-my bad, again..you are correct about these mods, and these blog admin's-i think they are all on an ill-advised power trip..love your new avatar also..good luck with your family issues..

it was mostly in the 70s today, with clouds and some rain-mama nature did reach up and grab 80° for mebbe 30 minutes, before the temp started crashing again..i declare, we thought last summer was unreal, but we've been almost one month now w/o a 90° reading-that just don't happen in NC from mid July to mid August-but i ain't complainin' ; )

have a great Tuesday 2s & 4s..

Greetings river rising, and banjo! Banjo I see you're a dog owner, by your avatar. And I know how you feel riverrising, but you have some really adorable cats! Always glad to see new faces here. Please stick around, and tell us your stories! Weather, life in general, politics, travels, all topics we seem to cover here too, all while talking about our pets!

10k- sorry to annoy you. I guess not knowing the full situation, I don't really have room to suggest how you should approach things. Good luck with your battle. Better? My bad. Hi DJ!

Sneakers- was your trip at least a good one, in spite of Rocky's distaste for Alpo? That sounds a bit too warm for my taste. We are enjoying the low 80's currently.

Well, I'm off to bed. 3:15 will be here shortly. Quincy is at my side, and Checkers is hogging the pillow again! Wishing all 2 and 4 legged friends adieu!

My BFF, her BF, Rocky, and I took a Saturday-Monday trip to San Antonio. We had two rooms. My BFF, her BF, and Rocky had one. I had the other.

It was rather spur of the moment and we forgot to take Rocky dog food. My BFF improvised by feeding Rocky people food. On the way back, we stopped at an Exxon C-store and bought Rocky a can of ALPO. I commented about "how are you going to get the ALPO out of the can?" and the BF commented he bought a can with a pull top. While we ate at a rest stop having lunch, Rocky had his water and dog food. Rocky lapped up the water pretty good (temperatures as hot as 104° F going down I-10) but he turned his nose up at the dog food. My BFF fed him some people food and he didn't turn his nose up at that.

Howdy fellow pet lovers. I know; long time, no ME!!!!

I've been kind of preoccupied for the past couple of months. Family issues that I don't care to go into right now....

L'il Girl and Lucky say "meow meow" to everyone.

I'll try to get back here regularly, as I miss checking up on the 4s....

I really like that new av, 10k. I hope the mods don't boot you. They seem to be on quite a tear here lately....

I hope that Jennie, Q, Chex, and Rocky are all doing well. Will try to catch up on the 4 pages later today.

Have an awesome Sunday.

if i disappear after tonight, it will be because GB put me in a time-out, and i told them to kiss my butt..or they might toss me anyway..

one of the mod's butt-kisser messenger boys deleted a post in another gasbuddy group that i WAS a member of-until 11:25..it was not a post from me, but i considered that to be censorship, and told them so..i also told them if we were not free to express our opinions, then we were not free, and in that case, they could remove me from their group-and they did..

y'all have a great Friday ; )

have a great Friday also, all y'all 2s and 4s..

10k - Love the new avatar. She's getting to be a looker! Very nice picture! Checkers was that vet last night for a well visit. Everyone admired his laid back, "chill" disposition and made a big fuss over him, as usual.

Rick - yes, all cats are spoiled, just some more than others. Mine particularly. Their own cat room, with everything cat inside, feeding stations on 2 floors of the house, and litter boxes and scratching posts and cat trees too. Snacks fed occasionally, seconds too. Everybody sleeps with mommy. Good Looking house sitters, who come and play with twice a day when we're away. They have it made!

That dog attack! Yikes!! That's terrible!!hopefully everyone recovers quick .

MSGuy- Belated bday grats Blue, But that whole anal glands thing... YIUCK!! Been through that with the cats. And the yucky leaking sludge, and the smell. Sorry, don't want that again.....pass....

Magpie - I hope you start to feel better soon.

Good night everyone!

HI 2's, and 4's! Hope everyone is having a great week.

Happy belated birthday Blue! Not the kind of birthday I would want to have, but if it gives relief, that's what counts.

Glad you're feeling better magpie.

Like your new avatar pic 10k! DJ looks like she's grown quite a bit from your last photo.

Aren't most cats spoiled Penske? they think they own the place and they should be served. Some friends of ours has 2, and they def rule the joint!

We had quite the fiasco last week. We have been dog sitting our son's fiancé's beagle,(Bo)right? Well, one day while we were at the office, our neighbor took him for a walk, (which we knew she would) so while on their walk, another dog, (german shepherd) came out of no where and bit Bo on the butt and top of his tail. The neighbor lady screamed and tried keeping the dog away from her and Bo, but she became tangled in Bo's leash, and she fell and messed up her hip and elbow. The dogs owner heard her screams and ran out of his house, and stopped the dog, but not before all the damage had been done. They loaded Bo and took him to the vet where he received 5 stitches above his tail, and 5-6 stitches under his tail. They left a small puncture hole open for drainage purposes. But what a freaking mess! Last night Bo's Mama came and got him. He is still in pain, and his wounds are still draining, but the Vet says that's normal. He'll be ok, just going to take time. Neighbor lady had to go to the ER. Her hip started bothering her so much she couldn't put much weight on her right leg. X-rays were negative, nothing broken. She says, I'll heal one of these days. What a time we've had!!

I hope everyone has a great evening!

Sorry for not writing for a while, I have been down with a new strain of virus. I never get this sick so I didn't want to spread any germs, okay how about I have been sleeping off and on for the last 4 days! Hey 10k try coyote urine granules around the garden this stops the little animals from digging up the bulbs. I have tried it and it does a really good job, now I'm fighting a couple of red squirrels that are very destructive. Hi penske it sounds like your babies know how to keep you on their side, they sound so comical and loving. Happy Birthday Blue and many more what a beauty she is!have a great day oh little Haley says hi too right now she has her little eyes on a rabbit!

Well today is my avitar photo (dog named Blue) 10th birthday!! Celebrated it by taking her to the vet to have her anal scent gland expressed - it was plugged up and giving her a lot of grief. Please don't try to give me anything like that for my birthday, eh!1 LOL!!!

Good evening all! Me, I have momma's boys. Both cats are pushovers for women. Very lovey lovey. There is not one masculine thing about either of them.. Big babies. Checkers is afraid of everything, and Quincy cries all the time. Spoiled rotten putty tats.

10k -I know the tiger dung thing is out there, but my dad was a biologist. They go nuts for those things. That's who came up with that notion. We had a zoo about 10 miles away in NY state when we were growing up. Our garden had tiger dung on it to keep the ground hogs away, and by golly, it worked!

howdy rick: i guess deer just roam from border to border, and coast to coast, eh ??..

concerning our lack of rain this summer, it's not really been all that terrible temp wise..last year we had a record low of nineteen 90° days, and this year is on track to be the second fewest 90° days..so far we're had twenty-nine 90° days, with 96° being our high..the second lowest total at this time is 38, and we have no 90° days forecast at this time..

man, do i feel the pain for your oldest daughter, having to go all summer in a cast-arghhhh..i went from June 1 til mid-July about 10 years ago with a mobile cast, and that was bad enough..

have a great Friday 2s & 4s..

HI gang! hope everyone is having a good week! Jennie says arf, arf!

Weather has been very nice Penske! Wish it would stay like this year round!

I have deer wander through my garden too. Usually eat the tops off stuff and move on. One year the raccoon's got into my sweet corn and ate most of it. Crazy critters! So far this year everything looks good and is producing well.

My daughters played softball as well. they enjoyed it. My oldest played fast pitch until she spiral fractured her ankle sliding into home plate one game. She spent the second day of summer break in a full lag cast, and still had it on when school started that August.

Take care everyone! Have a great evening/week!

Sneakers: looks like Rocky still has a thing for your BFF, doesn't it ??..wow-a $100 fee for pets and smoking..i guess it kindasorta does make sense though, cause there are peeps who are allergic to both-and maybe they don't clean 'em like they should..

penske: the nearest tiger to me that i'm aware of is at the NC Zoo-2 hours away..who thinks of stuff like this ??..if deer hate garlic, i need to buy out the food store's garlic-i did have a few palms that survived the winter, and now the deer are gnawing on 'em-GRRRR..it was s'posed to be 56° here last night, which woulda tied the record low, but it only got to 64°-bummer..

have a great Thursday 2s and 4s..

Took Rocky with me when I went to pick up my BFF. Rocky stood up on the front seat and saw her coming. He was wagging his tail and whining with great anticipation!

Tomorrow, Rocky will have to stay home when I go get the BFF. I have a rental vehicle and there's a $100 cleaning charge if you let a pet ride in it or you smoke in it.

Good evening all! If anyone lives near a zoo, tiger dung is actually a very good deterrent for rodents getting after your garden plants. It should even deter larger hoofed animals too. Everyone fears tigers! I have used Garlic spikes too. You can clip them on to plants. They can be purchased on line. Deer hate that!!

The boys are enjoying the cooler wealther, 52 at night! Oh yea!!

magpie: yes, girl's sotfball has really changed over the years..when the NC High School Athletic Association changed it from slow pitch to fast pitch, it took several years for most schools to develop pitchers for this type of game..the high school i went to was blessed at the time with great female athletes, and it didn't take them but one season to start dominating..last season they had 15 consecutive shutouts (the state record is 17), never allowed more than 4 runs in any game, pitched two perfect games, and pitched five more no-hitters..alas, their nemesis, whom they had beaten twice in the regular season, 3-0 and 1-0, beat them 3-2 in the eastern state championship game..at that time they were 25-0, and were ranked #1 in the state and #9 in the nation..it just takes a little time to develop pitchers, but once your team gets one, they will be set..Haley needs to help them-lol..

my plant's and garden's biggest problem is with deer..i'm in the western 'burbs, and they are everywhere..my mom lives more in the central area, and she has coyotes-go figure..DJ says good night to Haley ; )

have a great Wednesday 2s and 4s..

Hello to all 2's and 4's,I hope this finds you all well and full of good cheer! Hi 10k have you noticed how the rules have changed in girls fast ball. In our day we went out there played hard 3 strikes your out. The girl from the other team had one of their coaches pitching to them because they could not hit off our pitcher, 4 balls and they had the coach pitch to them. The game has really changed a lot hopefully next year they will play according to the rules, the game was tuff they had a good pitcher and they could catch well but not one girl could hit without the coach's help. The girls all came over to pet her and say hi before the game they said it was good luck, and little Haley was glad for the attention spoiled little pup! That is so neat about your alma mater do you stay in touch with any of them? The flowers are doing fine except I have been watering a lot, if you have a lot of flowers I was told by the wild life center here that coyote urine puts a stop to a lot of those little critter's will be picking some up tomorrow in the granule form and sprinkling it all over. Well I'am very tired after watering all the plants and Haley's evening walk time to get ready to turn in, May you all have a lovely evening!!:)

magpie: that's cool having their own coaches..everything around here moves indoors after football and the fall track season..lots of the girls here who do not play basketball, also start indoor softball practice..years ago, they adopted fast pitch, and dumped the slow pitch game..my alma mater has been in the state finals three straight seasons, losing 2 outta 3 in the finals all three seasons..it looks like Haley will be the official team pet for those girls ; )

i hope your flowers do great-may the wild animals leave them alone..i have a problem with deer-sighhh..

have a great Tuesday 2s and 4s..

Hi you all hey 10k they all will have practice all winter indoors, also they have their own coaches and girls from college that come down to individual coach's. But Haley is also in volley ball in the fall, but base-ball will always come first. This is what the call girls select fast ball, and little haley will be there for her. And yes the garden is finally getting the last touches on it so she will have to find another spot for her digging skills. I hope that this finds you 2's and 4's all well and having a great Monday!!:)
