After having so many people admire my pictures on my profile someone suggested a "Pets" topic. Gas Buddy suggested I start it here. Here goes!

Hello to all 2's and 4's, the garden is finished finally and it is really pretty looking too! All kinds of Hosta's and black eyed susan's, ferns and various other shade plants! Little Haley did her best to dig up and any holes that she could. She was not Happy with her bath this time, but I had to clean her up for the base-ball tournaments this weekend! Well the tournament was very nerve racking and they won sat's games then on Sunday they won the first one and there was three hours in between the last game. Well the first inning was tied 0-0, then well to make a long story short they held the other team to 0, and won 12 to 0, every body including the dog had their pictures taken with the team. They won their first tournament at the end of the year, and I have no fingernails left. What a way to end the season, and yet it was a little sad the girls said because they would not see the puppy until next summer. That really touched me, good kids for sure! Hey penske212 I have no luck with orchids but I do love them, I envy you maybe some day! Hope this finds you all safe have a great nite!LOL

rick: welcome back..DJ does have a collar with two tags that have her vitals and stuff, and they do jingle, but not that loud-almost until she is in launch mode..Jennie knows how to get her belly rub-lol, and sounds like Chrissie is a kid-nobody's around, so let's git that candy ; )

we finally got some rain..temps are up and down, mid 80s to low 90s lately-it was mostly cloudy and 87° today..

have a great trip to Indianapolis-happy birthday to your daughter..

HI Gang! Hope everyone is well! sorry I haven't been around much. Just busy. Not downsizing or anything like that, just plain busy!

10k, do you have a collar on DJ with tags that jingle? That would be one way to know she coming in for an attack!

I've never had Jennie on the dining room table, but when we walk into the bedroom and she's up on the bed, she immediately flips over on her back wanting a belly rub! Now Chrissie.... I caught her on the table once, going through a bag of candy! Crazy pup! I know,it was my fault for leaving it out to tempt her!

We have some wonderful weather for July! mid 70's. Next week they say we could have trouble hitting 70! We could use some rain though. It's getting quite dry!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Going to Indianapolis to visit our Daughter. Sunday is her bday! Take care all you 2's and 4's!!

penske: yes-chomp !!!..she is not as bad now, but she will occasionally launch a sneak attack on me-it's funny actually, cause in his younger days, Duke would do the same thing..it's hard to spot a black dog at night-ya just hear 'em coming and brace yourself-lol..

so Checkers is on the table also eh ??-gotta be a funny sight when both of them are kewling out-hehe..

have a fantastic Friday 2s and 4s..

10k- and you know her teeth are sharp how?? Did she chew on you! Aren't you beaten up on enough!?!!

Yes, Quincy lays on the table. Belly up most of the time. He is so spoiled, or bad, or both. Occasionally Checkers looses his mind, and we find him up there as well, but not many times. Not daily like Q.

Hi Rocky and Sneakers. Hopefully you don't spend the whole time under the bed. You might miss something.

Sneakers: poor Rocky..why is he with her ??..

penske: Quincy lays across the dining room table ??..is he trying to be first in line for dinner ??..surprisingly, during and after my man-killer workout tonight, there was little or no pain..the swelling from both of them is unreal though, and i have lovely shades of black, blue, and red ; )

have a great Wednesday 2s and 4s..

Sneakers - At least the couch is more appropriate to be belly up, unlike my big, Quincy. He likes to lay across the dining room table in the same fashion. He stretches from one side to the other, right where we eat dinner. So kind of him.

10k -Be Careful!!! Broken toes?!! Ouch!! Ice those babies!

Magpie - I do pretty good with the orchids. All 3 plants are currently in various stages of bloom right now. Two have been in bloom since we were on vacation in May. They are just starting to loose some flowers now, but another one is opening. With them, it's all about location, location location! And the growing matter too. I've been pretty lucky with mine. The oldest is about 10 years old. Good , continuing luck with that masterpiece, I mean garden of yours. I find it too hot to do anything outside by the time I get home from work, and after dinner I'm too tired. I have a lot of perennials too.

Good night all 2's and 4's. Pleasant dreams!

howdy y'all..

DJ is fine, and all i did was break the middle toe on my right foot, when i drop-kicked one of my huge stereo speakers this morning-sighhhhh..

i did one of my mankiller workouts tonight, and that sucker hurts..it swelled up to the size of two toes, and turned an ugly shade of black, with blue mixed in..

have a great Tuesday 2s and 4s..

Well all this gardening has really spiraled out of control but I'am seeing and to it No one has ever tried to help our parents out with the yard work before. After we lost my father my mom was so down, so I decided to get her involved with the gardening. And it just has been a little crazy here, trying to add and take care of all two acres. And i really didn't think things thru. Well I think it will add to the value of the property because mom has decided that its too much for us to care for. Penske the one thing I have never been able to grow is is orchids and I love them. Your lucky, such a talent, ours are all perennials so there is not much to do afterwards except enjoy, mulch and fertilize. Bj mom says we can take a ride as long as I bring her too. She says you two can watch me dig and work and you all can enjoy the BBQ. Haley has decided just to lay down in the dirt and watch me work today, she's upset because I took my sock away from her like BJ's DJ. Trying to teach her manners is tuff, she has more toys then I ever had and still she wants my socks! We are all praying for little ZOE and for her parents too! Calinda downsizing is the pitts trying to do that now with all that my parents collected it is a huge job good luck to you! It's a jeep thing thankyou for your post about gasog we have all been there , say prayers! God Bless have to get the garden finished would like to put the bark in tomorrow ! God blees you all have a great sunday!:)

Rocky is totally sprawled out on the couch belly up. He won't be that way when my friend Amber comes over. She's coming over to work off the down payment on her KIA.

There's only a 30% chance of rain today so he probably won't need to hide in the bathroom.

penske: speaking of the wash, DJ helps me also-when i drop a sock and don't realize it, like today, she figures it's one less the washer has to worry about cleaning, and she lays claim to it..at least it was a ragged work sock, so it's no biggie, but i ain't tellin' her..

i quit gardening 2 years ago-that was the summer we had records for both heat and lack of moisture-i ended up losing everything i planted-sighhhh..

speaking of downsizing, i really should think about that also..other than my dogs, i've been pretty much alone in this two story, 2,000 sf house since my son went off to college in the fall of 1996..there's a heck of alot of clutter to clear here also..

have a great Sunday 2s & 4s..

Prayers for Zoe Warren, you got it.

Magpie. - That sounds like quite a garden!! I can't even seem to find time to get my mulch finished this year, and I only need about another 30 cubic foot. You sound like you just beautified an acre or better! A lot of my garden is in containers, all different pots, all shapes and sizes adorning my steps. I just love having color outside, all the orchids are in bloom inside now too, which is nice, and uplifting.

Quincy helps me with the wash. I fold it, put it in piles, and Quincy tends to root through them before I can get everything away. Kinda like the garden digger pups noted here. Checkers just likes to sit back and watch. I wish we could teach them to put it away.

Calinda - Great to see you again. Good luck downsizing. I think that's why we don't move, not yet. Not until we retire probably. What a hassle that is, once you've been somewhere for a long time. And we have three floors of house to tend to too. What were we thinking??

Have a good night all twos and fours, and feathered friends too!

Warren: you got it-prayers are on the way..

magpie: you know it's Haley's job to get all dirty..every time i do yardwork, DJ has to get involved also..i know you are enjoying the fun with Haley-i sure hope it continues ; ) good luck trying to finish the yard work..

Calinda: regardless of who started this thread, y'all done good..good luck downsizing..my mom still lives in a 2100 sq ft house, but we've had no luck getting her out-she's been in that house since 1965, when they (my parents) had it built, and since my dad passed, i don't think we will ever get her out..she has tons of junk and stuff we are gradually clearing, piece by piece, so i know all about clearing stuff..all i can say is good luck..

have a great Saturday 2s and 4s..

Hello to all 2's and 4's, well I now have finished 3/4 of the front garden put in all the plants with the help of our little helper Haley! Had to give her a bath she did her job and the dirt went flying good job. Now I have to go buy a few more plants and get r done. It turned out really pretty, put a whiskey barrel in and planted it and let it trail into the garden. What a difference a little color makes, and Haley really liked the barrel she climbed right in and laid there and watch me work. Its hard to get my work finished it seems to take more time with her at my side but she makes me laugh so much with all her spinning around that I can't help but laugh and play with her. I hope that you all enjoy your little pets and that they enjoy you as much. Enjoy your evenings and take a load off and relax, there is always tomorrow! LOL to all 2's and 4's

HI everyone. Long time, no ME.... I haven't spent a lot of time posting on GB lately.

But I do want to congratulate penske for starting this topic. Sure, I could have done it myself; but having the credibility of someone with millions of GB points seemed to be better than having someone with less than that doing it. Penske, Quincy, and Checkers are doing a fabulous job of hosting this topic.

I hope that everyone is doing well. I'm in the process of downsizing so that I can move into a senior living complex. Getting rid of all of this stuff is gonna be tough; and will take forever.

Enjoy your weekend, all you 2s and 4s....

howdy xbAG..do those cockatiels chatter all at once ??..lol..welcome to the fold ; )

penske: we owe you and Calinda thanks for starting this thread..i don't remember who recruited me, but it was a lifesaver, cause i had just lost Duke, and was feeling lost and alone in this empty house..y'all gave me an outlet to express my feelings and to know that i wasn't alone..it was a tough July 1 this year, the first anniversary of Duke's passing.."long live our pets"..

magpie: i had no regrets with Duke..i actually had my final talk with him twice, cause he kept outliving the vet's expectations..originally, the vet gave Duke 9-12 months after he diagnosed his hip displacea, but Duke lived to within four days of 30 months-July 5th would have been 30 months..14 years, 2 months, 10 days-he lived longer than any dog of mine, so i can't really complain, but i still miss him ; ( very funny with that sponge brick..it's unusual to see a family of females active in sports..i understand what you mean about sports keeping you trim..after my high school days, i played softball and basketball, before i started running..tell your mom you will carry some good ol' eastern NC bbq back to her, if she lets ya mow my lawn-bribery, ya know-hehe..

have a great Friday all y'all 2s and 4s..

Hey there 2's and 4's! I just wanted to drop a quick note and wish everyone, a slightly delayed, but still, none the less, a very happy Anniversary! This blog has run for over its first year. Officially as of July 2nd. Such a pleasure knowing each and every one of you. Thanks for all your kind words. Calinda and I started this together. She just didn't know how to get it up and going.

So many thanks to 10k, and DJ, Rick and Jennie, Magpie and Haley, Sneakers & Rocky, Quincy and Checkers and all our friends that stop in on occasion! You all deserve a round of applause for perseverance and your cheerfulness. May we continue for many more years! Thanks so much for being a part of everyone else's lives!

Long live our pets!!

Hi 10K I'am so sorry about your pet but you had good while with him and that is a blessing, they give us so much love unconditionally they are wonderful companions. If that is all your doing is checking her out thats a compliment to her, at least you still notice snicker snicker! Not only did her mom play baseball grams did too, I loved playing ball it was a load of good fun! Also it kept me trim and active, our coach would make us work out and run laps before we played every spring the first two weeks it was rough but when you really kicked it up a notch and felt great. Every one in this family has played ball and even my mom still watches it when its on the tv, we had to make sure she has a sponge brick so she does not use her shoes to throw at the players on tv. Its a hoot in our house during the baseball and football season! I would gladly do your trim I loved the Carolina's such pleasant people and great food. Sorry checked with mom she says I have to finish her trim first! Little Haley says urf not arf just urf! LOL Take care gb's 2's and 4's!

magpie: lol on checking out my eyeball surgeon..i was expecting some old geezer in his 50s or 60s-i wasn't expecting eye candy in her mid 30s ; ) my son had the best view of her when he was taking me to my appointments, cause i was on the other side of the equipment, and couldn't see nuttin', but he was eyeballing her..he said once that she was easy on the eyes-lol..his wife would love to know that-hehehe..

wow-Haley's mom played baseball too-woohoo..my yard was cut last Monday, and it could use a trim-up now, if you're not too busy-hehe..

i'm glad penske started this forum also-it was perfect timing for me, cause i had just lost Duke the day before, at 14 years old ;(

y'all 2s and 4s have a great Thursday..

magpie: no prob-around my parts, baseball overrules everything..glad to hear you have a baseball star in your family..my eyeball surgeon, that sweet young thing, did tell me way back early that i had a longggg road ahead of me..i'm 30 miles SE of Raleigh, and they had over 4" of rain this afternoon and evening-we had none..sighhh..

rick: i saw my sweet, purty young eyeball surgeon veryyyy clearly-hehehe..dang cataract-sighhh..good thing my appointment was for yesterday and not today, cause the skies opened up on Raleigh this afternoon-they had over 4" of rain, with flooding..good luck with the doggies..today started our low temp days also-it was 81°, eight degrees below normal, and for the next few days, we will be looking at upper 70s to low 80s-as you said Rick, isn't it wonderful ; ) poor Jennie..

Sneakers: Rocky seems like a very nice doggie to me..so happy to see those he hasn't seen in a while..hmmm-the choice between mom and Rocky..i think i would do my darnedest to talk mom into allowing Rocky to go on vacation..

have a great Tuesday 2s and 4s..

Hi penske and 10k sorry i have not been here but my grand daughter had a base bll game 2 in one day. This is her first year in a select team and she is doing quite well. Could be the grandma bragging but she throws hard enough to me and some really hurts. She is first base and relief pitcher, and when she connects with the bat she wallops it. She tied in the afternoon and won the 2nd in the evening so yeah I'm proud. Little Haley went too and cheered them on even tried to catch one ball as it slice over the fence again. 10k please give your self time to heal. It took Mom almost a year and she had a transplant and also a cataract removed on her other eye and she is doing fine and will too! I was going out to play in the garden but its raining again, so house work will have to do! God bless all 2&4 Gb's!:)

HI 10k, Penske, magpie. How's everyone doing? Sorry your eye appt wasn't as good as you had hoped 10k, but you are correct, it could be worse! I'm sure you were able to see the sweet thang clearly though! lol

It was a good weekend for team Penske, huh Penske?!

Sounds like Lil Haley is quite the helper.

We are dog sitting this week for our Son's beagle, Bo. Well his finace's beagle. He is a funny dog. I'm trying to get him to shake hands, or paws! he's doing pretty good. He brings the ball back but drops it about 3 feet away from me! I started putting him on a leash and tossed the and had him get it and then tug the leash back to me, so he would bring it to me. He's getting better! Jennie just sits and watches! She doesn't want anything to do with him or the ball! silly pups!

Here we are mid July and our temps today aren't even 70 degrees. Of course that will change next week! We're supposed to be back to normal. We will get back to the 80's and 90's. But sure is nice to turn the A/C off and open the windows!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Rocky's "human grandpa" (my BFF's stepdad) came over. Rocky was totally freaked out like he is when he hasn't seen me for a while.

My Mom has expressed the opinion that she doesn't want me to bring Rocky on vacation. It's not like he consumes a lot of time or anything.

howdy y'all..well, my eyeball appointment could have been better, but it could have been much worse also..

eye pressure is good, vision is slightly worse, but surgeon is not worried, cause she says that's part of the 12-18 month healing period-she even set my next appointment for two months..she said the eye looked good as far as her surgery, BUT...i have a cataract on my left eye that she says will need removal within a year-sighhhh..and i still can't get more contacts til my eyes settle down..

have a great Tuesday 2s and 4s..

Well I finished my garden put in a total of 2400 pounds of topsoil and 12 40 pound bags of manure, 240 pound bags of peat. Puppy helped( digging holes), lost one trowel just can't find the darn thing! Well I will put in the plants tomorrow and then all the bark over it and I'll be finished. The tomatoes are growing fast and so are the pepper plants, kohlrabi we ate and it was good. Had to put in chicken wire around the garden because our little Haley is eating the leaves off the plants, and charlie next door ( pug ) eats all of the lower hanging green tomatoes! So I have to watch the garden carefully the little poops! Hey 10K a week will be fine but I have to warn you you might have to fight with mom for my time now she wants a deck built off the patio, no rest for the wicked! Hi penske we had rain last nite and the humidity level was 70 percent. All we have had is rain every couple of days and the mosquitoes are getting bad here. Its either too much rain or none at all. I hope you all had a great weekend stay safe all the 2's and 4's!:)

I'm here 10 k, and Checkers is here too. Quincy is upstairs sleeping in the hallway. All the kitties are chill. We are much hotter than you. It was 84 degrees around 10 am. Should get close to 90 degrees, with 57% humidity. Just a few drops of rain yesterday. Much more rain needed. It either pours and floods, or barely rains. No happy median.

rick: better short than not at all-lol..you have a great weekend also..

penske: my mom's 14 year old Pug still is a humper also-who woulda thunk it..fortunately, we got rain yestiddy, and only had a high of 81°; today it was just cloudy with a high of 84°..gotta love it when the temp is below normal, especially in the summer..yup, those blood-suckers are everywhere since it rained-dang it..

magpie: yup, i can give you and Haley a week, but since we had some rain, those weeds will grower faster..if ya need any help eating all those steaks, i think DJ and i could help ya-thank goodness you were able to save everything from the dead freezer..mowed two acres eh ??-wow, you did have a busy day..good luck in the garden tomorrow..

DJ is shedding black lab hair everywhere-she's covering everything with black hair, just like Duke did..

have a great Saturday 2s & 4s..

Short note from me too. Howdy all 2's and 4 footers! Checkers is a humper too. What's with these boys?? He doesn't try to do that to Quincy thank goodness. Just his stuffed kitty baby, and a few pillows. Took today off from work, only to go back tomorrow at 4:30 am to start. So I guess I better head to bed soon! Hot here, and not a lot of rain. Every body, sit, stay and heal! And watch out for flying stinging insects that are ready to suck your blood!! Thankfully, not too many of them around here!! G'night!

HI 10K, could you give me a couple days to recoup and finish our garden.LOL am really sore today, so I gave myself and the pup a break today. Went to our favorite meat market and bought fresh cut 4 porterhouses, 4 ribeyes, a nice beef roast. And went home the refrigerator down in the garage decided to quit working, so we ran out and bought a small 6.8 freezer so we could trade off the other stuff in the refrigerator to the freezer. So I moved the refrig. and unpacked the freezer and put in all of our frozen foods and we saved everything. No work on the garden today but after that I mowed half of Mom's two acres took the dog out for her walk and took the my grand daughters home so I'am a little pooped! I tell ya if it isn't one thing its another. Will finish the garden tomorrow and then the plants with the humus and manure and hope that I finish it all tomorrow! Even the puppy is tired 2 days with the grand daughters and she is pretty wore out. She grabbed hold of my thumb chewed a little and fell asleep in my lap, talk about spoiled!:)Have a Good Evening penske 212 and 10 K.

Well today was a big day for us up here in W.I. I put in 1,600 pds of top soil in the garden and 1 1/2 bags of peat. Of course the little side kick Haley was right there, I would out the dirt in and haley tried to dig it back out. What a great little helper, put her in the house but she cried and yes I gave in and brought her back out, turned out okay thou charlie from next door who is pug came waddling over to play and I managed to get 3/4 of the garden finished. We hope that you all are having a great week, watch out for the mosquitoes they are killing us this week here in W.I. Love to all stay safe!:)

Sneakers: Rocky loves his daddy..humps his bed, eh ??-sounds like a boy doggie to me ; )

Magpie: yw..now she's discovered fireflys-lol..DJ ain't paying them any attention-surprising that she's ignoring them, cause some of them buzz her-snicker..mosquitoes are the bane of a summer night-i didn't know y'all had them that far north..i feel for ya with the grass cutting..twice weekly ??-i would be looking for the roundup-snicker..but i do wish it would rain enough here to know it..tonight the central part of the city got a nice shower, but in the western 'burbs, we got nuttin'..

have a great Thursday 2s and 4s..

Thank you 10k, well little Haley has now discovered Fire Fly's. What a crack up, last nite it was like a Ballet of lights in the back yard. It was a great night, sat out for a while and then came the Mosquitoes so we ran for the back door. We have cut our grass two times a week and the rain keeps coming it is going to have a buggy summer. We are working out side a lot, and we have put brick around the garden and have to put in top soil and mix it with manura and peat and then the plants.

Rocky is curled up on the sofa.

I woke up three or four times last night. Every time, Rocky was curled up next to my bed. Maybe I should put his dog bed into his bedroom but the only thing he seems to do with it is hump it.

magpie: reading about Haley makes a person smile for all the joy she has brought into your life..it's great that she has been adopted by your granddaughter's baseball team ; )

penske: i tuned in Saturday night for a race, and ended up watching the Orioles baseball game : ( "red sky at night, sailor's delight"..i dunno what a yellow sky means, but by now if it was bad weather, you will have known it-lol..if you really love cutting grass, c'mon down sometime next week-i can put ya in the driver's seat..

rick: i had an uneventful 4th, which in the long run means a good 4th, i guess-lol..no rain or bad weather anywhere that i know of, for the first time in many 4ths, although the OBX was reeling from Arthur..from the best i can understand, only Ocracoke Island had a tough time tourist-wise, cause NC 12 was buckled just north of the short ferry to the island..yup-my yard has been cut only five times, the first two times were by a friend, when i was recovering from that detached retina surgery..last week, and i forgot what day it was, we had a temp of 96°, and that's the first time since September 2012 our temp has been over 95-it was 95 at 4pm today, and i missed the high, so it's possible it coulda gone up another degree..very unusual for us not to have at least one 100° day, but if we can survive another month, we may do it for the second straight year, and there is nothing in the week ahead showing higher than one 93° day..i love it ; )

have a great Wednesday 2s and 4s ; )

We have now been taking little Haley for small walks and that helps keep her toe nails cut back. Boy we get home and she lays on her bed for about ten minutes like a cat nap and she wants back out. We had her at my grand-daughters baseball game and some one sliced the ball and it rolled past her, the goofy dog runs after it all 5 pounds. Every one laughed one woman said like she could get her mouth on that big ball. She slept like a baby all the way home, then went for a walk. The girls on the team have adopted her because the gran-daughters name is Haley also. So if we cheer for the grandie Haley sits on my lap and gives her hearty murf of a bark. She spreads joy no matter where she goes, best rescue ever! Hi Penske212 thank you for your kind comments, our pets bring out the best in us. Hi 10k try rolling the pill in peanut butter it worked for us, Hope you all have a good evening!

Big storms just moved through, and it's 8:24 pm. The sky is yellow. Should we be worried?? It looks like an old black and white picture out there taken with an old Polaroid camera.

Rick - it's good to see you! I bet our pets are so happy the 4th has come and gone. Not fans of noise, none of them!!

10k - What a treat, to mow the grass! I spent about 2 months just trying to re-grow the grass so we could cut it. I did pretty well with it too.

Storm is settling down. I turned off the A /C for the first time since Sunday. Yippee!!

Hi Buddies! Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! Jennie HATES fireworks. She hides in the bathroom, so we leave a light on and the fan running for her.

so you've mowed the lawn for the 3rd time ALL year? Wow, and I've been mowing about every 3-4 days. lol

We've had beautiful weather for the last week or so. A little shower this morning, but in the low to mid 80's most everyday. Better than 2 years ago.... we had temps in the 100's for the 4th holiday!

I hope all 2's and 4's are having a good week! Take care!!
