After having so many people admire my pictures on my profile someone suggested a "Pets" topic. Gas Buddy suggested I start it here. Here goes!

Sneakers: woohoo for Rocky..he sounds like a big kid at Christmas, running around with those treats..it's the "thrill of the kill"when he pounces on it-lol ; )

penske: i hear ya on those points returns with the mods-i stay at war with the mods, so i have a feeling if i miss a day, my streak will be over..i never realized it was Labor Day weekend til Saturday-every day is the same when your only job is part-time, and non-paying, at that ; (

poor Quincy-supervised and brief, and poor Checkers (Chex-i like that) has no down time ; (

hope you can clear your neck of busy soon..i'm not even gonna mention the Hendricks' team and last night..

have a great Tuesday 2s & 4s..

Hey there kitties, pups and the rest of my friends! The secret to getting your points back, is to notify the mods quickly. They will re-instate them two times that's it. Fortunately I did act quickly. Ahh!!:)

I still have been up to my neck in busy, but since it was the holiday today, Quincy got to have some time downstairs in our den. It's a nice cozy room with a lot of collectibles and a lot of things young checkers might chew on. Quincy's time down there is supervised, and brief. He sniffs out a lot of areas, and tries to go behind a few things before settling down in a chair. When Chex gets older he can come down too, but only on Holidays. It's a privelage, to be earned. Quincy was back upstairs in about 20 minutes.

Rocky got a new box of dog treats. He'll jump up in my lap (what I want him to do) to get one. Then, he will run to the other side of the living room with the treat in his mouth. He will then drop the treat out of his mouth and pounce on it like it's a bug or something. Finally, he will eat it.

Howdy all you 2s and 4s. Happy Labor/Labour Day weekend!!!

We're laying low this weekend, mainly because we don't need to go anywhere. All those idiots out there driving and drinking; and then there are the texting drivers.... I'll sit here and pay bills, play games, and continue my cruise preparations.

LG and L enjoyed their spa day. Lucky's coat looks like suede; a suede cow.... He has spots like those Herford cows, and Checkers. Who knows; Lucky and Chex could be related.... lol

I'm gonna go to 7am Mass, as the drunks and kids are still asleep. Then I'm headed home until Tuesday.

Please be safe out there. There are IDIOTS lurking everywhere....

howdy all..

DJ has been busy..i think she sniffed out another "undesirable" this evening..the only prob with this one is DJ was wwayyyyy up under the front deck, out of sight around a corner, so i have no idea what was under there..when Duke was here, he used to chase possums from under there, so it's possible it was a possum..

hope all 2s and 4s have a great Sunday ; )

Calinda: meow back to Lucky & L'il Girl ; ) DJ says woof..thanx for reminding me that's Labor Day weekend-i honestly either forgot it, or didn't realize it, cuz it's August all the way til Monday..lol on losing your consecutive days..i guess the Graybar Motel does not have wifi ; )

Sneakers: DJ doesn't like pills either, and since she is a woman who needs her nails trimmed monthly, usually around the 3rd of the month, i take her to the vet, and they trim those razors, and give her the heartworm meds..i would think that with Houston's heat and humidity, Rocky would need a heartworm pill every month, year round..lol on the noxious meds with a candy bribery ; )

DJ sniffed out a baby moccasin tonight under the garage-dang it..she had earlier sniffed out two black snakes this year, but i told her to leave them alone, but she didn't and it was them or her-sighhhh..i sure hated to kill those black snakes, but i had no prob killing that moccasin tonight..

have a great Saturday 2s & 4s..

Howdy everybody. Lucky and L'il Girl say meow meow....

Sneakers: I use Revolution, which is a liquid applied on the back of the neck. It takes care of heartworms and fleas and ticks. It isn't cheap, but it is better than having to buy 2 types of meds. And, if you have ever tried giving a pill to a cat you will understand why I prefer a liquid. NO MATTER THE COST....

I sure am enjoying the lack of hurricanes this year. Enuff said on that topic, as we approach the peak of the season on Sep 10th.... Don't want to jinx myself.

Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. If you're driving, please DON'T text or drink while driving. You could lose your consecutive days....

My BFF commented that Rocky needed some heartworm medicine (computer generated reminder). Poor Rocky will certainly "love" that, he hates pills. I had some med when I was five that was particularly noxious. Mom tried to get it down me by offering me candy but that wasn't much better.

today we had our third 90°+ day in August-all three readings have been 91°, and we now have had 21 days of 90 or better this year..i'll take that any year ; )

magpie: you're not gonna breathe on us are ya ??-lol.."Hi" to Haley-i bet she is having fun with the bugs and such..DJ starts chasing frogs around the cement pond, every time i come home..awww-Haley has a shirt to match the baseball team..yup, around here we have spring softball and baseball, summer softball and baseball, and fall softball and baseball..our fall season starts the day after Labor Day, and runs through the third week of October (yeah, there are some hot nights in September, and some cold nights in October)..

rick: mebbe ya gotta threaten the mods-or send penske after them..i've been doing this since May 2006, and i've never known a woman not to get her streak reinstated, but i've seen several guys, apparently you included, who lost theirs..yeah-Arthur came too close to my front door, and killed the July 4th economic boom for the coast, from central NC to the OBX..

have a great Thursday 2s & 4s..

Hello all animal lovers, sorry I have not been around a little under the weather but doing better now. Little Haley says hi and she is having such a good time in the back yard for her first summer so many new bugs and moths to hunt! She has her first magic shirt for the girls base ball team to match theirs and they all have to pet her before playing. I did not know that there was fall baseball too, we use to only play in the summer it is exciting to watch so much energy for young girls makes me tired just wathing them! I hope that you all have a good and happy thurs. stay well and happy!:)

Congrats Penske! Guess I didn't talk sweet enough to the mods!

CALINDA!!! A long cold winter doesn't hit you like it does us! lol If we could get the kind of winters you get I'm all for it! :)
It does sound like another cold, snowy one is in store for us. I will have to get the blowers ready one of these days. UGH! Maybe the almanac will be wrong this year! One can hope!!

Here's hoping any upcoming hurricanes stay out where the last few have been. Except for the path Arthur took!

Hope all the 2's and 4's are having a good week! Take care!

penske: woohoo-wtg ; )

Calinda: no rain here, but at least we've had some lately..high Sunday of 81°, high Monday of 78°, and high today of 81°..back to the 90s by Thursday-sighhhh..

hopefully we have had our hurricane for the season..it took over one month to finally repair NC 12, and remove the temp bridges..it's been quiet in the gulf and on the east coast since Hurricane Arthur-hopefully it will remain..

the Farmer's Almanac is calling for a repeat of last winter-cold and cold ; )

have a great Wednesday 2s & 4s..

Howdy all you 2s and 4s. LG and L say meow meow to everyone...

Well, we were promised rain yesterday and today; we got nada... as usual. We continue to suffer.

Congrats penske. Glad you got 'em back. Sorry that Rick wasn't so lucky....

Only 15 days til the peak of hurricane season. I certainly hope we are lucky again this year....Hoping for an early fall; followed by a long cold winter.

Enjoy your evening.

rick: ugh-replacing flooring from water is no fun..walking in water is even less fun..if i can't find a decent roofer, i'm gonna be replacing a buncha ceilings..

Hi Gang! Hope everyone is doing well. Jennie says Hi (arf)! Looks like lots of stuff has been going on! Here too! Last Monday, I awoke at 5:30 and put one foot on the floor and it was wet. I thought maybe Jennie had gotten up and I didn't wake up so she must have wet on the floor. Then I took a second and third step to find I was walking in water! We had a water pipe connection come apart and the well was just pumping in the house! We're still drying out. Parts of our tile floor is coming up now, so I'm going to have to replace some flooring. It must have just been the week, cause, the starter on my mower went out also! UGH!! Oh well things can always be worse! Lots of terrible stuff happening in the world!

HI 10k and DJ, HI Penske, Q, and Checkers, HI Calinda, Lil Girl, and Lucky, HI sneakers and Rocky, HI magpie, and Haley!

Hope everyone has a good week! Quit working so much Penske, you're making the rest of us look bad! :) lol take care every buddy!

penske: hit up the mods about your streak, and with a good excuse, they will most likely restore it-especially since it was over 6 years..sounds like you need a few days off, so take 'em..

Calinda: we have been blessed so far this summer, cause on Friday we had a temp of 91°, and it was only the 20th 90°+ day this summer..last summer we only had 19 days above 90° ; ) take an aspirin daily, it will thin your blood, and you can tolerate the heat a little better-hehe..good luck with your move also..

Sneakers: poor Rocky-pigged out, then emptied out, then bath time-lol..DJ's vet has a cow when she gets more than one treat in the morning, and one treat in the afternoon-for that same reason..continued good luck with your move, and finding the perfect location for you, the BF, the BFF, and Rocky..

have a great Monday (snicker) 2s and 4s..

Good evening all, 2's and 4 legged. Proof that work is stressful... I blew my 6plus years of consecutive days and just realized it today. Such a bummer. Another shortened work week this week. Taking Friday off for a trip to the shore. Gott get some sleep now, 3:17 will happen soon!

Howdy all of you 2s and 4s!!! It is really HOT today; the hottest days today and tomorrow for 2014. I felt so sorry for the feral cats; and put food and water out for them. Even the birds appreciate the fresh cool water I put out for them....

Lucky and LG are keeping cool, as usual, on their lounge chairs. I have it dark and cool in here. Can't worry about the cost right now....

Good luck on your move, Sneakers. I am in the process of downsizing so that I can move into a senior living facility. Will demolish this old house and donate the lot to the City unless someone is interested in buying it.

I hope that everyone is having an enjoyable weekend. The kids here in Podunk go back to school tomorrow; 180 weekdays of peace and quiet... Woo Hoo!!!

Later....

One time, I left a couple of small bags of treats out where Rocky could get them and he did.

He got his own reward: he laid around listlessly like he had an upset stomach, and when he went out for his walk he had a very big and very runny poop.

Not only that, I told my BFF to look at the back of his hind legs and she immediately put the poor thing in the tub for a bath.

Sneakers: i agree with the BF..Rocky would love to be able to run in an enclosed yard, and as far as second floors, my house is two story..i built it when i was 35 and had good knees-now 28 years later, my knees do not like climbing stairs, but..how much further away form the coast would you be ??..as far as living in KC, i think anywhere in tornado alley is bad: OKC, Wichita, the midwest..

Calinda: welcome back ; ) poor Lucy-he suffers cause momma forgot ;( snicker..i agree with ya about being young in today's world..i'm a little older than i would like to be, but i have no regrets, and no way in heck would i wanna be a teenager in this world today..DJ says howdy..

Meow meow from L'il Girl and Lucky....

Yesterday I forgot to put the lid on their treat bowl, and Lucky ate the entire contents of the bowl; 10 oz of cat treats. 10 oz!!!!! He is in a feline timeout; no treats for 2 days.

Don't work too hard penske. You're burning the candle @ both ends; NOT a good thing....

10k: yup, I'm old. But glad to be where I am. Wouldn't want to be young in today's world. Hey there DJ....

Sneakers: sounds like a ground floor apt would benefit Rocky. I perfer anything except the top or bottom floors. The cats, who have not been outside since I adopted them, don't know the difference.

Rick: give Jennie a scratch behind the ears for me.

Have a great weekend 2s and 4s!!!!

My BFF, her BF, and I are debating moving to the other side of Houston to be closer to the BF's place of work. The BF wants me off the second level because I'm not getting any younger, and I want to be further away from the coast.

One of the things we are looking for is an enclosed back yard so Rocky can go out and do his own thing without having to be on a leash. Even though Rocky LOVES the leash because he associates it with getting out!

It would be even worse if Rocky was in Kansas City. In Houston, you can have heavy rain without lightning or thunder. In Kansas City, there's a lot more pyrotechnics.

howdy penske: welcome back..good for you in declining those OT hours-your health is worth more than a few extra bux in the bank acct..so you will be back in Charlotte eh ??..i declare NC is too wide, cuz i ain't close to Charlotte..i'll meet ya in the middle at the Four Seasons Mall in Greensboro-that's roughly halfway..

i don't think fireworks bother DJ either, cause she's not in hiding when i come home after all fireworks shows..

have a great Friday everybody, including y'all 2s and 4s..

Evening all! I'm back! At least for now, as I am awake too! I had to decline OT hours this weekend, too tired. Really starting to get to me. I have a vacation to Charlotte coming up in the 2nd week of September, and I am really looking forward to that!!!

Q and. Chex surprisingly don't mind the thunder boomers. I don't know why they hate fire works so much, it seems like the same thing. So quirky!

I will try to keep in touch better, but I have just been so pooped lately. Woof woof meow!

howdy Calinda: it's hot and you're old eh ??..i will agree with the hot part, since you're in Texas, but i ain't sure about the other part ; )

your cats sound like DJ-she could care less what kinda noise mama nature is making..

the only reason this summer doesn't feel as great as last summer must be because the humidity is higher, cause temp-wise this summer has been our second straight summer temp godsend..we have a nice sub 90° streak going (last time it was over 90° was July 16), but there is a sad chance that streak is gonna end real quick-the next 3 days are forecast for highs in the low-mid 90s..ugh..

have a great Thursday 2s and 4s..

Hi y'all.

Just spent the past 3 days doing yard work. It is so hot, and I am old; so I try not to overdo it. I was interrupted a couple times by thunder boomers and occasional lightning. Came inside to find the cats fast asleep and none-plussed by the rumbling. I guess it doesn't bother them anymore.

Sorry that it seems like you're talking to yourself, 10k. I was working thru some issues. Hopefully I am better now, and can chat with you on a more frequent basis.

Hi Rocky, DJ, Jennie, Q, and Chex. Woof woof, and meow meow....

I'll be back....

speaking of dogs and t-boomers, i don't think DJ has seen a t-boomer yet she doesn't wanna run out into..had another one tonight, and she was beating down the door to get out there..

our sub 90° streak is still alive..it was 87 today, and we still haven't had a 90° temp since July 16-amazin' - but we have two straight 93° days predicted for tomorrow and Thursday..we've dodged one 93° prediction already, but it's gotta be tough dodging two consecutive ones..

Sneakers: poor Rocky..Houston is probably not a good place to have a dog that's scared of t-boomers..i guess i've been lucky, cause my last three dogs just sleep right through them..when Hurricane Fran hit in 1996,the dog i had then just snored through the entire hurricane..

Rick- you should be able to tell I am still bogged down by excessive hours at work. I am hardly ever on here to post. Too tired. Come home, get ready for the next day, eat, shower, up for an hour, and I head to bed. 57 hours this week.. 6 today. Started at 4:15 am.

10k - it's ok. I am just happy to see you're still here!

Hiya Sneakers, Rocky, and it was nice to hear about your adventures I in Tx. Thanks! Rocky should have bunked with you. Dogs and smoke don't mix well. Actually - hotels should all be non- smoking!

Sneakers: we've been blessed so far this summer, as we were last summer..last year we set a record for the fewest 90° days, with only nineteen, and this year we've only had eighteen to date, but that's about to change next week: 90° temps all week-ugh..the humidity has been much tougher this year than it was last year though ; ( one thing on my bucket list is to visit the Alamo and do the River Walk.."Jell-o" ??-Rocky would bit ya if you had re-named him with that name-lol..

Rick: yup, waded through flood waters-lol..as dry as it was, it didn't take long for it to disappear though-along with a good deal of my firewood-bummer..some of it is in the crik..i might can salvage it if we have a dry spell..the rest of it is downstream somewhere-sighhhh..DJ says "Arf" back to Jennie..

have a great Saturday 2s and 4s..

We kept wanting to get to the Alamo but other things interfered.

We did the River Walk also, took the little boat ride. Wonderful place.

The BF and the BFF did the River Walk. I slept three hours the night before and I crashed in the motel.

>Great food!

We got some of the local food, but then again we went to LongHorn Steakhouse.

I'm from Houston. To me, San Antonio is dry. It's hot enough though it doesn't matter it's hot anyway.

My BFF's BF asked me how Rocky got his name. I said that was what he was named at the shelter and we couldn't think of any better name. The BF commented that if you talk to Rocky half-loud, he shook. He asked "What about JELL-O?"

I was in the non-smoking and non-dog room because I don't smoke and the rooms only had one bed.

Rocky doesn't smoke either, but he had to stay in the dog and smoking room.

It was an unplanned trip, we had fun, but we didn't make it to the Alamo. We didn't stop my mail, so staying longer pretty much wasn't an option. (When we got home, it seemed my BFF would never stop pulling things out of the mailbox.)

My BFF slept while her BF and I went out to get breakfast. First of all, we were getting very low on gas. The trip computer went to zero but I was very very nervous. The route we took through San Antonio seemed not to have any gas stations. I commented "Go out to the feeder, there's certainly gas stations on the feeder." (The access road that run next to the interstate.) We went miles on the feeder and not a single gas station. Then, we hit paydirt. I saw an Exxon and the BF saw a Shell right next to each other. So, we filled the tank at the Shell. (I wasn't driving or I would have gone to the Exxon because it was a penny cheaper, and I wasn't going to tell him to go over to the Exxon as by that time it was on the wrong side of the road.) Then, we decided to go to Denny's. The Denny's was standing room only and by that time it was lunch time.

My iPhone was dead and wouldn't take a charge. The BF wanted me to have an operating phone in case we got separated. I knew the drill with it and said I needed to go to the Apple Store. So, her BF and I went over to North Star Mall, the location of San Antonio's only Apple Store. Fortunately, I was able to get an appointment at the Genius Bar soon after they opened. My past experience with Apple warranty repairs was they swap the phone for a new one. Genius Diane looked at my phone and she pulled out some foreign object debris that was in the charging port. She took it in the back and tested it. She said there was nothing wrong with it but it'll need to charge for a while.

So, here comes the BFF and the BF to pick me up. Us guys were starving but the BFF wasn't. So, we kicked her out at the motel and we headed off to LongHorn Steakhouse, The BF had never been there before and it's my favorite place. So we went driving around San Antonio going to LongHorn Steakhouse and charging the iPhone through the USB port. It took us about two hours to eat, and by that time I was ready to crash because I slept only three hours the night before. We went back to the motel, and I was very drowsy but I don't think I slept.

The BFF and the BF went down to the Riverwalk while I decided to stay in out of the heat. I spent the evening watching TV. (The same things I would have watched at home but on the corresponding channels in San Antonio.)

I had a very good nights' sleep excluding a few momentary awakenings. I turned the air conditioning down to 68 and slept under blankets. I usually turn it to 74 at home and pull a light blanket over me when if I get cold.

We all got up and packed up. Then, we went driving through San Antonio and took pictures of the buildings. We stopped at the historical First Presbyterian Church and got pictures of the ornate stained glass.

Then, we hit the road. People food for the people and ALPO for Rocky. At least the people liked their food.

wow-i fight through flood waters to get here, and i'm all alone ; (

boy, we got the rain, and then some tonight that we've been needing..it stopped about an hour ago, and i can just began to see my grass, on the west side of my yard-too bad this happened after dark, cuz there was no way to get pix..my barn got flooded, and it surrounded the cement pond, but fortunately none of that muddy water got in..

DJ got soaked, and when she went out the last time, she musta stepped on something, cause she's working over her right rear foot..she won't let me get close to it..if it's not better in a day or two, she will be heading to the vet..

have a great Wednesday 2s and 4s..

Sneakers: wow-2 motel rooms, and you were all alone in one, while Rocky partied with the others-lol..hope y'all had a great trip..Rocky sounds like my dog now-she had so much people food, the only time she will eat dog food is when she's really hungry and eating everything in sight, or when i refuse to give her people food-after day 3, she will generally eat hers, then i feed her some people food again, and we start the cycle over-sighhhh..

i think it's funny that Rocky turned up his nose to the Alpo-"nope, gimme that food y'all been eatin'"-funny..

penske: sorry i jumped on you, my bad..it's just that when a blog group asks you to join, which was shocking to me, they should already know how you feel about "stuff", and they did..i think everybody got bored agreeing with each other, and against some of our wishes, the admins invited "the other side" into the blog-and then had to gall to suspend one of the original bloggers cause he posted something that somebody outside the group sent to him, and they thought was offensive..i could see then how that blog was gonna turn out, so i asked them to delete me, since i couldn't delete myself..at first the admin who brought me into the blog said "no", but after i let them know how i felt about my buddy being put in a 2 day time out, i was cut loose..i can only imagine what was said about me then, but as a friend of mine says "whoooooooo cares"..

Calinda: i didn't mean to intentionally not speak to you last night-i saw your comment, and was going back to you, but i didn't-my bad, again..you are correct about these mods, and these blog admin's-i think they are all on an ill-advised power trip..love your new avatar also..good luck with your family issues..

it was mostly in the 70s today, with clouds and some rain-mama nature did reach up and grab 80° for mebbe 30 minutes, before the temp started crashing again..i declare, we thought last summer was unreal, but we've been almost one month now w/o a 90° reading-that just don't happen in NC from mid July to mid August-but i ain't complainin' ; )

have a great Tuesday 2s & 4s..

Greetings river rising, and banjo! Banjo I see you're a dog owner, by your avatar. And I know how you feel riverrising, but you have some really adorable cats! Always glad to see new faces here. Please stick around, and tell us your stories! Weather, life in general, politics, travels, all topics we seem to cover here too, all while talking about our pets!

10k- sorry to annoy you. I guess not knowing the full situation, I don't really have room to suggest how you should approach things. Good luck with your battle. Better? My bad. Hi DJ!

Sneakers- was your trip at least a good one, in spite of Rocky's distaste for Alpo? That sounds a bit too warm for my taste. We are enjoying the low 80's currently.

Well, I'm off to bed. 3:15 will be here shortly. Quincy is at my side, and Checkers is hogging the pillow again! Wishing all 2 and 4 legged friends adieu!

My BFF, her BF, Rocky, and I took a Saturday-Monday trip to San Antonio. We had two rooms. My BFF, her BF, and Rocky had one. I had the other.

It was rather spur of the moment and we forgot to take Rocky dog food. My BFF improvised by feeding Rocky people food. On the way back, we stopped at an Exxon C-store and bought Rocky a can of ALPO. I commented about "how are you going to get the ALPO out of the can?" and the BF commented he bought a can with a pull top. While we ate at a rest stop having lunch, Rocky had his water and dog food. Rocky lapped up the water pretty good (temperatures as hot as 104° F going down I-10) but he turned his nose up at the dog food. My BFF fed him some people food and he didn't turn his nose up at that.
