Did you listen to music today?

Maybe on the drive to work or school? On your morning workout? Always have your iPod on?

I'm listening to music on my PC at work.

yes, this morning we are listening to the radio until the kids got dropped off at school, then I was listening to the new Dream Theater CD as I was driving to work, and again while at lunch.

Been listening to Steely Dan albums on YouTube this afternoon. Decided aja is my favorite.

Also as a sidebar: Has anyone tried to listen to the meditation music to relax? I have and will say that it DOES relax me. Try it. There are several, just have to find one that sounds good to you.

Went to my favorite YouTube and pulled up a couple of acts that played at the White House. Imagine Mick Jagger at the White House.

Listened to KSBJ-FM (89.3 in Houston) on the way back from the car dealer to my apartment. I've got a service loaner while my Escape is in the shop. It's got a problem with the mechanism that locks the seat belt, the switch that determines whether the belt is fastened is on the fritz. It's also time for my state inspection, an oil change, and a tire rotation.

I'm listening to a 192 kbps AAC of a CD entitled "The Dutch Street Organ, Volume 1." Sometimes when the tones are quiet, you can hear the mechanical parts of the organ whir and clank. But most of the time, the organ has a tune coming out of it that totally drowns out the sound of the whirring and clanking.

The data rate of a 192 kbps AAC is sufficient that most listeners cannot tell the difference in an ABX comparison between the compressed version and the original data source. One cannot say that about about a 192 kbps MP3, you can't say that until the data rate reaches about 320 kbps. And now you know why the default compression format for Apple and Sony devices is AAC and you have to make a explicit override to get MP3. I don't know if Microsoft's WMA is better in that regard than MP3 but Microsoft audio presentations have recordings where the music is fairly clear on WMA, but an MP3 done at the same bit rate totally shreds the sound.

I don't have golden ears in the first place, I'm basically totally deaf above about 12 kHz from playing around fixing vintage TV sets and listening to their overwhelming 15,734.26 Hz screech (that is, after most broadcasting switched to color, before that the screech was slightly higher pitched). It wasn't that much of a problem for TV listeners because they had the back of the TV on, the back of the TV faced the wall, and they were further away from the TV set than a repairman would be.

KCNY - Yes that was a highlight also. They whole show was great. Had they gotten Julian Lennon to participate it would have been as close to the Beatles on stage you'll ever get again. I was and am a fan forever also. The youth of today just can't comprehend the impact the Beatles had on music.

Shea stadium is a experience to remember and cherish forever. Tell me, was it that great a concert or was it just the fact it was the Beatles? Seems to me you couldn't see well and with 60,000 fans screaming, probably couldn't hear well either. I remember going to the movies and watching "Love me Tender" with Elvis and couldn't hear a word he said with all the screaming.

Since today was Christmas day 2013 we listened to - you guessed it, Christmas music today.

But i do want to comment to Thorman52. How about when Paul McCartney came out and played "Something" on the Ukulele leading into everyone doing their part. PS I saw the Beatles at Shea Stadium 8/15/65 forever a fan!

Watched "Concert for George" on YouTube of course. Concert was held at Royal Albert Hall November 29, 2003 one year to the day of George Harrison's death.

Two and a half hours of star studded music. Emceed by Eric Clapton it also included surviving Beatles Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Billy Preston, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne of the Traveling Wilburys, Jools Holland, Albert Lee, Sam Brown, Gary Brooker, Jim Capaldi, Ray Cooper, and many others who played with George throughout the years. The concert opened with a traditional Sanskrit invocation, the Sarvesham chant, followed by Indian music when Anoushka Shankar, daughter of Ravi Shankar, played "Your Eyes". That segment was very touching. The concert was organized by his wife Olivia and son Dahni. Great music.

Yes, I listened to "Crazy on You," by Heart on the car radio:

Wild man's world is crying in pain
What you gonna do when everybody's insane?
So afraid of one who's so afraid of you
What you gonna do oh?

Crazy on you, crazy on you
Let me go crazy, crazy on you
