I used to be a big list maker, l still make lists, but shorter and my grocery list is often only 5 things, yet l buy a lot more. Maybe my lists are shorter because l have all l need? l was thinking that l just don't need to list everything..But on the other hand if l don't write it down somewhere, l forget. The prices l pay, so l don't pay more when l see what l think is a bargain. l have started adding the price paid to my freezer list. I find it helpful. Prices go up so quickly. Sales are not necessarily a sale. Tho l am not a slave to my lists.

l had a given amount of money in the bank and decided to use it for a bill that l want paid off. Spur of the moment decision and not really necessary because the bill is interest free. Household money and decided go ahead and so l did. Don't need anything and would just buy goodies and more and more things for the freezer. It's gone and now l won't buy those frivolous things.

I have moved thru 3 other senior housing complexes til l chose this one. l planned each move so to better my living conditions in some way or another. After moving in to the first place. A two story place on a hill. Parking below and carring groceries up a hill and up steps to second floor, l knew l wanted a single floor place. 2nd place was ideal with window in each room and forced air and heat, but no specialists except to visit and not many sunny days. 3rd place, cold in winter and inadequate heater and had to go quite a ways to swim and shop. Third place is where l am and has double pane glass but the shade tree blew down. Shopping is one block and lots of choices within 10 blocks. l made lists of pros and cons and learned as l went what was important to me. l am happy as can get in senior housing...they are small. The Drs are getting harder to find who will accept medicare as it won't pay what they want. l have planned yet still...Not perfect.

This is a spur of the moment l wish l had planned better . l went to the grocery store, then saw trees for sale $9 ..imagine ! Spur of the moment decision. Buy one. Always wanted a plum tree. Why not? first mistake buying a tree for my small patio space, second mistake buying a tree at a grocery store, third mistake not checking type of growth habit, fourth mistake planting it to shade my happy sunshine loving clematis. Spur of the moment is not always good. Sometimes it is, but not this time.

Lots of bugs love me, from blackflies and skitters to fleas and anything that stings. And I'm allergic, so I have to be careful around them.

Baylee sorry l am not thinking. Was only picturing the moving river. :( We have some spraying in areas around the bay area l remember for mosquitos mostly. When we went camp/fishing in the valley (middle of CA) we were bitten a lot by mosquitos and other bugs. l sometimes had to go to the car and sleep. Husband never bothered. l was so thin then, l couldn't understand that scenario.

Tru, there are always lots of spots near water, especially on flood plains, where the water level goes up, then drops and leaves a lot of puddles. And there are lots of wetlands and ponds around as well. Nice for the spring peepers, too, so that helps a tiny bit to make up for all the bugs.

Baylee thought mosquitos bred in still water? I too have lists or journals or pages of garden plans, food in freezer, things to buy, passwords, temperatures, meds etc. l like the journal style but l still use a pocket calendar (which has never been in a pocket or purse, l like the size and as l shred the journals l transfer medical info and temps etc.) l write when l change water filters all sorts of things. Anyway today was a spur of the moment day, as was yesterday due to health concerns. Nothing serious, just probably dehydrated..find out more next week after doc checks electrolytes. Always something ... Playtime: l like the idea of goals. The sense of accomplishment when reached.

Tru, I like to pick out the mat colour to tie in with the picture, as well as the frame, and in this case it will be a challenge, since I've got 4 prints and 4 different colours and sizes of frames.
About the blackflies, it happens all over the north all spring, and the only way to avoid them is to stay in a city. And the mosquitos have a head start on us, since we have a branch of a river going through the back yard.

I used to make a lot of lists when I was young & single. Instead of making New Years Resolutions I would make a list of all the things I wanted to buy in the next year. I stuck to it & almost always got everything on the list by years end. I just had to be reasonable & not let myself feel bad I didn't always reach my goal. I just felt good about what I did accomplish. I know I would not have gotten all the things I wanted if I had not done that back then. I think If I went back to making lists I would get more of my projects done.

Good afternoon tru. I have lists for everything. If the list turns into something too difficult to keep up with, it then becomes a spreadsheet. Some of those spreadsheets add and subtract, such as the one that tracks the contents of my 5-gallon coin bottles....
Oh yes, I am quite anal at times....

ECoprius: Welcome and l must say you do a lot of planning, whether you write it down or not. Me l have to write it down or l forget, sometimes l forget the list. LOL. FB's loss is our gain. Your post made me smile and that is why l like these topics. We have several cruise enthusiasts on another of my topics.
Baylee: You will get it done. The other day a lady was looking at my waterfall pics and asked me "why do they Matte all pics? l like the entire frame filled with the pic" My answer was to make them look larger. What do you think? Looks better? She doesn't think it improves the pic. Mosquitos and black flies UGH...is it because of standing water or what?

Tru, yes, our good weather at the moment is pretty much as you describe it. The best part about this time of year is NO BUGS! We get lots of mosquitos and blackflies later in spring, and I HATE BUGS!!!
Anyway, today I finally persueded the SO to go out with me and the pup to a doggie p-a-r-k, and then on the way back he finally agreed to go out to eat with me. Only problems were that I had wanted to get dishes done after we got back, and had wanted to go to an art store on the way to the place where we ate. I've got several cool prints that now have frames I bought, but they also need mats - all 4 need different sizes and colours. So I didn't have them with me and will have to wait til the next trip out that way to get the next step done. A bit annoying, but I'm well-fed and have enough food left over for about 3 more meals - yum!

I'm not much of a planner, or at least I don't think so. The only lists I make are grocery lists and Christmas lists. ;-)
My hubby & I are going on a cruise. He's been pouring over maps, finding good lodging for the day before as it was cheaper to fly into one city & drive to the port the next day. Next he took on investigating what to do on the cruise liner (it's not a ship... ships have deep keels); what to do on our stops, and booked our flight back home with a long layover b/t arrival at port & airplane departure b/c he has a niece to visit at our port city.
I take care of sharing getting the laundry finished, taking care of packing my stuff, making sure we have our medications, locking the house, notifying neighbors no one in or out (unless it's our kids), having the mail taken care of.
If we're driving somewhere we both work on what we'll do when we get there. Our options are limited because hubby had an after brain stroke that damaged the balance area of his brain & destroyed his left auditory nerve. I wobble, but unlike Weebles, I fall down. ("Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down.")
I'm also in charge of things to eat & drink on the trip... now that's mostly water since we're working our down on the scale & clothing sizes.
However, I too am a fritterer. I read, play on the computer, & can watch the clouds roll by or birds hunt for bugs & worms for ours on end. I love watching how flowers & trees move in the wind too.
I'm also a babbler...
Peace.

Good morning people who are planners and spur of the moment too...l do both quite well. As Baylee mentioned "frittering away time" l have been thinking about that and realize l do a lot of that as well. Since l am retired l have more time to fritter away. l don't do xwords or word games, or for that matter any games. But l am very adept at frittering. l can sit and look out the window for long periods of time. l can spend time driving for hours or used to ..just looking at other areas. Even around my own area. l guess l am just not a very productive person anymore.

Baylee: you are further north than a lot of posters and they are getting tired of snow. You mentioned "nice weather" and that means what? 50 degrees and no snow? It sure looks like rain as l look out the window, but none predicted. We are supposed to be 68 degrees, but without sun, no fun.

In this way l planned ahead in my planting of my front border. We are no longer allowed to do that, but my flowering maple, planted last fall, is small now but will grow and give lots of shade in the afternoon picture window and my front room. lt is a plant, {shrub, tree} that has huge blooms which really appeals to humming birds. l can soon sit here in my recliner and watch them zipping around in front of me. Can't wait.

At the moment we are planning to take a day off on Friday, so we need to get a bit of an idea where we want to go. If we don't plan ahead we end up frittering away the time instead of doing something interesting.

Well welcome reddevil and cd: l like to plan too. Hence my list of things to do on the spring topic. But when and if l get them done is another thing. How about you cd? does something mess up your plans? l do believe we have to plan some things and even like when l was traveling and would set an itenerary and wake up the morning due to leave and be sick, l cancel and lose money... but those things have to be planned or you might show up to board a ship and not have room. ?? or not know when they leave? But l love spur of the moment trips too ...exhilarating to just throw some clothes in a bag and go. Ah to be young again...Smile.

WOW l hadn't realized l hadn't been here in awhile. l read today that making lists gives one a sense of control. l don't like other people to drive (that's control) But best what l read today was: "Life is neutral. You can choose to be negative or positive." l am not sure l agree that life is neutral, but putting my spin on what life brings is up to me and l choose positive. Each day l plan (being a planner) to be positive. lt's easy when things are going well. Like today...my neighbor greeted me with "Another nice day in Paradise". lt was nice after the rain of yesterday.

I got sidetracked from my planned routine today. l useally post to all the main ones, but in "Retirement" l met a man who seems unhappy and l looked him up and asked him to be a buddy as we enjoy some similar things and he has a couple of topics that interest me greatly so l posted there and added them to my list of favorites. l hope he gets the help he needs and feels better because he has a lot going for him. l hope he doesn't withdraw into further isolation. That's a killer. So now l have to get off the computer. Smile.

Sounds like my ex Baylee. LOL I am just kidding, but there are advantages in doing what one wants, when they want. l baked cookies yesterday that l had in the freezer. l can't bake up a dozen at a time anymore, or l eat them. So l bake some and freeze the remaining dough. These seemed to me to be fuller and l like these after being frozen. The fresh ones l baked tended to spread out more and become thinner than these. Today it is library time before they send all my books back. Again l am not thrilled with the two l have but l will keep reading them. Same author. Repeats a lot. Loses my interest that way. Oh about the "UP" series. l can get all of them except #1. lt isn't available til?????. Good thing l have a long list ahead of them. l am not sure about planning anymore. At least into the future. l have a healthy neighbor who just found that he has cancer of the brain and they couldn't get it all. He is a bike rider and was so active that it is a shock.

The fluctuation is there all the time with the pets. The dog is always happy to go anywhere I want to, any time - night or day. hot or cold, rain or sleet or whatever. The cat just wants to go outside when HE wants to, and get into a nice cozy bed, also when HE wants to.

Yes, there are pet-friendly motels, as well as camp grounds - but we have a cat as well, and we don't want to take him to a hotel or motel! We have taken him to one friend's house several times, but that's the extent of his travels -- so we have to make arrangements for his getting fed if was are gone for very long.

Choco, I certainly wouldn't be up for a spur-of-the-moment trip away for a day or two. There is too much to arrange about animals, etc. But I'm certainly up for making extra time for any cool thing we find to do once we are someplace new.

No more steel bumpbers so rental places don't want the insurance claims and they charge so much for mileage on a pick up. lt is easier to buy a new freezer where my son lives. Can you believe it.?

Baylee: l did arrange them in order on my list. l had the hardest time finding the original one, so ordered all the others then found it and fortunately l am able to move the movies slowly to the higher space or directly to the top. l got them in order. But l have a long wait unless l get bored watching mysteries. That is mostly what l order with an occasional comedy. Seems most of the comedies lately are just romances with problems supposedly funny with the couple getting together. l should pick out a comedian and order that way.
l planned, not for this specific trip, but planned ahead for just this type of thing. Worked well too. l shopped then to late dr appt and unloaded car (wears me out but no housekeeper on day l shop)...was tired and HUNGRY. So in my new freezer l had about 10 bags of homemade meatloaf with mashed potatoes, which l popped on a plate and heated in micro in minutes l was eating a lovely dinner. l added brussel sprouts later.
But my real planning ahead was preparing the 9 bags to put the 9# of good Harris ranch hamburger in. l just grabbed a handful of hamburger put in the bags and into the freezer. So quick and didn't have to keep stopping to re-wash hands to prevent the meat from getting on the bags. and zipper. l am so proud of me. Plus l didn' t have to stand there as long as get a backache. Smile. <<patting own back>>.

BAYLEE: Thanks l added the series to my list on Netfix..Not soon as they are #92 on down ...But at 2 a week average that will be 45 weeks. Unless l decide to move them up a notch or two. Which l may do as some ordered don't sound really good...mostly mysteries...some l have see. l do like to add recommeded ones, tho l know my taste may differ from others. For instance, l don't order science fiction tho l enjoyed the books years back. l remember when l read far out science fiction by the man who started his own religion, quite popular now with movie stars .. L Ron Hubbard. l think his self improvement part of it is good. But a religion no.

The British film series started with 7 Up, an there has been one every 7 years since then. Most of them were originally broadcast on Brit TV - NOT the BBC, but Grenada. The 2nd one is only an hour long, but most of the others are much longer. The current installment is 56 Up, and may show in good film theatres. The first one we saw was 28 Up, a long time ago. And now that I remember, we divided up -- the SO wanted to see something else, and I changed my mind and saw the much better film. That was certainly spur of the moment!
Most of the episodes are now on U-tube, as well as on DVD - they are quite addictive.

OK l planned this day and have my freezer half unloaded and moved it by myself and left the food out til they deliver , as l will need to move it again after they leave. But now l sit and wait and have no faith they won't wait till the latest time, meantime the food is out of the freezer with just a towel over it. I wish l could plan for others sometimes.
