Pull up a chair, snap your fingers, "double latte" and lets hear whats on your mind. Gripes, comments, compliments, complaints, ideas? Lets get them out in the open and see if we can relate, have some fun, come to conclusions maybe, who knows.

Cottage Grove, thanks for the "boo."... Same to you too.

I want the Bone special, eggs over easy cooked in a half inch layer of hot bacon grease in a cast iron skillet, corn beef hash, sausage links and grapefruit-navel orange sections in a side dish.

Later, i'm going outside to feed the flying critters beef suit w/sunflower seeds.

Pileated woodpeckers are flying terrorist.. Sorta like flying Asian carp in the Mississippi River.

Good Morning,

Made it through two games last night with only minor mistakes working the scoreboard. Girls game was a blowout. Boys came down to a winning three point shot at the buzzer which we lost after coming back from a twelve point deficit.

So far, a nice day today. Hope the weather hold through tomorrow.

Coffee and biscuits please.

Good Morning,

Slept in this morning. I seem to have caught a cold after a few days of nice weather. Will not make it to the home dedication.

Have a big HS basketball game to work tonight. Then a SB49 party Sunday.

Anyone else doing a Super Bowl party this weekend?

Have a good day.

Good morning sout, Handi, ladi, and everybuddy else coming in today. I was expecting colder temps this am, from the forecast last night, so I was a bit warm on the bus this am after the morning bicycle commute in 35°F and tail winds. One more week.

MrGG, napping during a Kazoo party?

Good Morning,

Ladida, I have seen that email several times. But is still relevant. I know one friend has emailed it at least twice.

One more day of good weather and then we will see a dip in temps tomorrow. Hope it comes late as the grocery store chain where my wife worked is giving a new home to a veteran here (mortgage free. Would like to go to the ceremony but not if it is cold and rainy.

Will take some biscuits and gravy with hash-brown and coffee.

thanks BG - I just copied an email and posted it. Believe it or not, this subject is still 'touchy hot' for some and some did not appreciate it. Just trying to tell the truth. We the American people deserve to know the truth.... like Bengazi? Our American forces put their lives on the line for us, they deserve that the truth be told what they went through.
I will get off my soap box now, thanks

Good Morning Folks

Ladi, thanks for your long post. I talked with several of the Hanoi Hilton survivors while I attended Air Force Survival School (now manditory for all aircrew) back in the 80s. Unfortunately, most of the experiences were toned down for public consumption. The horrors those captives suffered cannot be accurately described with the written word. God bless our country and the warriors who keep us free!

The Boat Show is over so next up is SPRING! I'm looking forward to splashing my boat and gettin' out on the water!

Good Morning,

Foggy this morning, almost could not find my way here.

Finally went with the Mrs. to see "American Sniper." Worth the wait and deserves the nominations for academy awards.

Another nice day expected today with temps in the low 80s before things change this Friday.

Noticed that the price of gasoline jumped ten cents yesterday. Glad I filled the pickup over the weekend.

Everyone have a good day today!

hey Splinter - Calif is having awesome weather too. Today was 70 or so. slight breeze and sunny. wanted to share with my fellow patriots this email I got about what Barbara Walters said about jane fonda......
Subject: Fwd: Barbara Walters on jane fonda

If this happens it would be the ultimate travesty - You know what they did to traitors in the Revolutionary, Civil wars - Evidently, under the current administration they bestow accolades and “Woman of the Century” awards -

Jane Fonda was on 3 times this week talking about her new book. . .

And how good she feels in her 70's. . . She still does not know what she did wrong. . . Her book just may not make the bestseller list if more people knew.

Barbara Walters said :

Thank you all. Many died in Vietnam for our freedoms. I did not like Jane Fonda then and I don't like her now. She can lead her present life the way she wants and perhaps SHE can forget the past, but we DO NOT have to stand by without comment and see her "honored" as a "Woman of the Century."

(I remember this well.)

For those who served and/or died. . .

NEVER FORGIVE A TRAITOR. SHE REALLY WAS A TRAITOR!!

And now President Obama wants to honor her!!!!

In Memory of Lt. C. Thomsen Wieland, who spent 100 days at the Hanoi Hilton [infamous North Vietnam prison] --

IF YOU NEVER FORWARDED ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE. FORWARD THIS SO THAT EVERYONE WILL KNOW!

A TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE H ONORED .

KEEP THIS MOVING ACROSS AMERICA.

This is for all the kids born in the 70's and after who do not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the "100 Women of the Century."

Barbara Walters writes:

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War.

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot. The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison, the "Hanoi Hilton."

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American "peace activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward onto the camp commandant 's feet, which sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton.

>From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the "Hanoi Hilton". . . The first three of which his family only knew he was "missing in action." His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation" visit.

They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper.

She took them all without missing a beat. . . At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper...

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam, and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years.

I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia; and one year in a 'black box' in Hanoi. My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Banme Thuot, South Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals."

When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her. I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received. . . and how different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as "humane and lenient."

Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with a large steel weight placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did answer me.

These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part of "100 Years of Great Women." Lest we forget. . . "100 Years of Great Women" should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots.

There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in blatant treason, is one of them. Please take the time to forward to as many people as you possibly can. It will eventually end up on her computer, and she needs to know that we will never forget.

RONALD D. SAMPSON, CMSgt,

USAF 716 Maintenance Squadron,

Chief of Maintenance DSN: 875-6431 COMM: 883-6343

PLEASE HELP BY SENDING THIS TO EVERYONE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK. IF ENOUGH PEOPLE SEE THIS MAYBE HER STATUS WILL CHANGE.

We're having such awesome January weather! Official high temp of 45°F yesterday!! Low temp was 25°F which is the normal high temp! Last January was soooo cold. The only time it "warmed up" was when it snowed.

Good Morning,

GasGuy. A former co-worker of mine who lived alone was found dead after not answering calls from his family for several days. I had called him once or twice, but knew he was having phone problems so did not think much of it.
Starting at 48°F this morning but should warm up to 70 later.

Coffee to go please.

Good Afternoon Folks !

"Opposite Day" ... opposites attract.

Sid
It may be a couple weeks until we go back to Duluth.

I need to go see that movie.

Two days ago my wife heard about a friend/former co-worker who had collapsed in her home and though her friends and neighbors missed her no one did anything until the sixth day when emergency workers broke down her door to find her.
After hospital time she is now in a rehab facility and is in surprisingly good humor.
I am still in awe of things she told us when we visited her.

Wake me in an hour please, Bunny.

Little Splinter and I saw "American Sniper" yesterday. Great flick! Theater was packed. I can't remember a movie ending that was so silent. As the credits roll, the theater was completely silent. Nobody was talking. No music.

Good morning sout, Handi, and everybuddy else coming in today. 30° and head winds for the morning commute, and biking to the lab for blood work. Happy Friday. A weekend of volunteering for me. Sat I am working with the Tour de Cure and manning a rest stop for a 5k run. TdC gets a huge discount in the timing chips for the TdC to track the riders. Then Sunday I am a course marshall at the annual Fat Bike Race at the closest trail to me. Organizer said he will give me a great spot to heckle.

Good morning Trucky!

sout, nice to hear the spa is fixed and almost ready.

MrGG, yesterday was also Nat'l Left Handed Day... I don't think her books have been published yet. I know the 3rd one she is finishing it up and working on illustrations.

Have a GREAT day everybuddy!

"National Blonde Brownie Day" ... huh ?

CGrover
Thanks for the update on Barbo, please wish her well from me.
Are her children's books (titles?) available here?
My granddaughter, 18 months old, loves books.
As often as I see ships in person and on the webcam, entering and departing the Duluth harbor I am always in awe.
To be there in person to see the last ship of the season and waving to and greeting the ships crew was special to me.
So few people know that Duluth is one of the busiest ports in the nation, yet is in the heart of the north American continent while hosting oceangoing ships (salties) from around the world.
In a couple months the Coast Guard ice breakers will be out opening channels for the ships to resume sailing.

A nightcap please, Bunny.

MrGG, she does. We order several jars every once in a while. She is now spending some of her spare time writing poems that have been published in the Kauai newpaper, and now she has written 3 children's books. I will pass along your greeting. Is it sad to see the last ship come in?

Good Morning Folks !

"National Hugging Day" ... now I have an excuse in public?

CGrover
I have been wondering about Barbo and whether she still is marketing her sauces.
Please pass along greetings.

Saw another furnace service truck in the neighborhood when we got home last night.

This development is 19-20 years old and we have been telling residents to be aware of the age of their furnaces.

I was at the Duluth shipping canal yesterday as the last ship of the season entered for winter layup.

Coffee please, Bunny.
