feeling some stiffness in the upper hamstrings today. Guess I walked just a tad too hard yesterday! Its showering today so I might just sit it out and let the tightness relax. Am quite pleased so far.

just home from a somewhat brisk one mile walk. A week ago that would not have been possible. With the SI joint injection, and the results, it would appear that I not only have a lower back issue, but also an SI joint issue. The good news is that the injection has made most of the pain I experience walking stop. Now in about 2 1/2 weeks, I get the one for the low back issues. If that works just as well........

THIS is a good article on the SI joint issue.

Pard - You and EH continue in my prayers and I do hope that progress comes soon. My son made little progress from his head injury for a bit more than three months then....WOW.

telling dickc that having EH walk out of there is one of the goals, but when I was there today, that goal sure seems one long way off.

Thank you, everyone, for your continues prayers. I am praying for all of you, too.

just checking in to say that nothing has changed. But I don't want to talk about that, I want to say how much I've enjoyed the string of positively gorgeous late September days we've had this past week. Unparalleled.

Canned 14 jars of salsa today, and that, including the various jams, and the 2 batches of 14-day crock pickles I put up, rounds out my canning for this year. Unless I think of anything else I want to do!

sorry to hear that Outtacash's son is still not "whole". I do hope they get the sores to close up and stay closed soon.

I am doing OK today considering I had to fix my dehumidifier yesterday and mop up the floor, took a 50 mile drive to do some shopping (and look at the sights). While shopping I got a couple of heavy items. Came home a bit sore, but all considering, I could have been much worse. Will try another walk tonight. Was too sore last night to want to. It probably would have been good for me however.

Roadieboy - try some warmth on that elbow to loosen up the tendons before doing anything. Ice it after use. That will help. Tendonitis is an irritation of the tendon sleeve and tendon itself. It results in some swelling, and then some minute fibers from the tendon drag as it moves through the sheath. This is what was explained to me by my orthopedic guy a few years ago. Heat relaxes tendons, ice reduces inflammation. Relax it before use, and ice after to prevent a flare up of inflammation. Yes, a PITA to remember to do, but it does work. Heating pads are not that much, and a few large Zip-locks with some wet hand towels inside make great ice pads.

Hope Pard, CH, TargetsMom and others are doing OK.

ready for my urn :o\

Son is stilll not healed :( They keep saying 'another week or so'. Well, found out Tuesday that another tiny hole developed, just when the only one left was almost closed. HHC is back to coming daily.
Mason is stilll not healed either :( Dick, he had TWO cones before when he ripped all the fur offa his tail. He destroyed both of them...
Hubby finally decided to have a hernia operation, something he should have had done many years ago.

I should be drinkin' margaritas tonite but taking meds for the migraine I went to bed w/last night.

Dick & Roadieboy, hope you both start feeling better soon. Sounds like we're all falling apart, still...

still not feeling any better, or so it seems. I will try taking a walk later today and see how that goes. I am hoping I find I can walk a bit farther than before. I am also going to take a bit of a drive this weekend. Driving has even become a bit uncomfortable, so I am going to see if it is any better this weekend. If I get no relief from this particular shot, then the issue is fully confined to my back. Not sure if that is good or bad. No one seems to be able to tell me.

Roadieboy. Try to let that arm rest whenever possible. Try looking up what exercises will strengthen it on the web. Once it feels a bit better, see if you can do some. If they are recommending exercise machines, just think logically as to what motion and resistance the exercise is trying to promote and then find something at home that does the same. You do not need a gym or anything fancy. Just some common sense. That I know you have!

I am wondering how Sandra is doing, and also how Outtacash's son is doing.

at work.

The strange thing about my forearm/elbow pain is the narcotic pain killers barely put a dent in the pain.

Yes Dick, the solution for doctors is, 'stay off your feet for a week' or 'don't lift anything for a few days'.
I wish it was that easy.
I have a bunch of very understanding bosses and supervisors, but there has to be a limit. Fortunately I can go a week or so without lifting, or having to use two hands.

I had this about 11 years ago when we put up our 'new' fence. I guess I can't call it new anymore, but I do.
Back then it lasted for a year, crap!

Well goodnight everyone.

hoping Roadieboy feels better. Do know what tennis elbow feels like. Have had more than one case of tendonitis in my life. Gentle strengthening of the surrounding muscles will help if it is. Also a cortisone shot can provide temporary relief.

Had the first of the two shots yesterday. No worse today, but that is good. The main ingredient is really not supposed to do anything for 36-72 hours or so. Am hoping.....

I have a new one, tennis elbow, or some sort of elbow/forearm pain.
Back, ankle, neck and now elbow.

The pain killers work on my back, but the ankle and elbow doesn't change at all.

Bed time.

Goodnight everyone.

Am also a bit sore today. Wife had to take sons girlfriend home so I had to put the toddler car seat back in her car. That chore always leaves me sore. Wife just cannot figure out how to do it. She is not mechanically inclined at all. Get ym first injection tomorrow.

looking forward to the football game tomorrow!

I also am looking forward to playoff baseball.
There is something on TV worth watching in the afternoon, and watching night games, going into extra innings, with the temperature falling into the 50's and lower.
Maybe cheer for the Nationals, pretend they are still the Expos.
Bluejays are all but out of the wild card race.

Maybe Detroit vs Washington for the World Series

worried about Mason...

a week ago he self-mutilated himself, on his right side & top of his tail :(
Has a 7" long X 2" wide totally bald spot w/sores, and a 2" long bald spot w/sores on his tail. On Saturday got a cortisone shot & 3 weeks of Cephalexin; Vet says it's dermatitis. I don't think so. He hasn't picked at it in a few days but it still looks horrible. Thinking about getting a 2nd opinion...

Dick, hope all turns out well for you. Prayers :)

Take care everyone :)

waiting for next Tuesday when I get my first injection. It appears I also have some arthritis that is causing an issue too. The first injection will be for that as the "test" for the arthritis is only about 50% accurate. If the injection works however...... After a few weeks to see the results I will have the spinal steroid injection too.

Hoping everyone else is doing well!

at work.

Things are getting back to a more regular schedule.
It goes from almost nothing in the summer, to 16 hour days in the blink of an eye.
I remember thinking 10 years ago that I was getting too old for this, now it seems that I still have 10 more years to go before any kind of retirement.
Then I remember thinking that I will never retire, that is for 'older' people.
Maybe something in between is in order.

TM, the Riders pooped the bed big time yesterday.
Young Tino looked lost out there sometimes. (most times)

Dick, we have been covering our tomatoes and peppers at night for a week.
We have had frost two or three times now.
We have had a batch of tasty peppers, but our tomatoes were on the small side. (but tasty too)

I hope everyone has had a good summer.

Have a great day.

Needing to cal both a doc that does the cortisone, and a neurosurgeon. As we are getting worse, not better, a neuro may decide we should not wait. The neurologist office does NOT do the surgeries. Think I may call the neurosurgeon first as it would kind of be a waste of time to call the other guys if the surgeon says to fix it now.

Something moved a bit Sunday when I was doing some of my exercises. I hurt more, and it does not seem to be clearing up. That alone is why the neurologist office says see the neurosurgeon too.

Will also call my sister out in the western part of the state. Will see if I can e-mail her a picture or two from the DVD. She is a doctor. She is NOT a neurosurgeon, but she will know exactly what she is looking at. I want her opinion, and I want to know what doctors she knows out this way. Nice to have trustworthy family!

My tomatoes are still growing, but will fade in another week or two. The pepper plants should go to early October when a killing frost is most likely. Have a lot of good peppers ripening on them!
