miserable onnaconnacuz my hands just don't work like they use to. With a trigger finger on both hands and rheumatoid arthritis, it's darn near impossible to do anything. Making hot food again for the homeless downtown is very difficult. Managed to last weekend, the guys sure were happy. Will cook again next week, don't know when I can have surgery. I see the hand and plastic doc on Monday. I guess I don't have to cook, but the homeless and hungry need hot food. So many kids have nothing. Too many of them in line now. I will not let my pain keep them from eating.

Looks like snow outside...

...royally pissed. Why? I voted today, not for any of the jackasses who continually run negative (plain nasty) ads on TV, no, practically a straight libertarian ticket. It seems there are too many crooks running for state offices--power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Can we not find someone who is pristinely honest and who will not stand for absolute lies told by the opposition? All this political crap should be done away with.

BTW I am not a gamer either.

Silverdog will be interested. As I left the polling place I was approached by one of those people who want you to sign a petition to get an issue on the ballot. This was to tax marijuana and then use those taxes to support the schools k-12. I was more pissed than usual as I was a school teacher for 41 years and was told to downplay the smoking of pot. For 41 years I did this. Now it's not only legal, but they want to tax it to support those same schools in which told them of the horrors of pot puffing. I wasted all that time and now I guess I should go get high, too.

"not a gameplayer, l am a serious person" is what l always say when invited to join a game of any kind. but the food got me at the Giants games. LOL. Hocky, baseball, football, bridge, dominoes or any game...not my cup of tea.
That being said, l hosted and provided all the food for the winning game , and it was fun.

still awake... shocking

Dick, he has jumbo raw hides to munch on which he does. Bought some spray w/Allercaine, seems to be helping..somewhat. Every few days see he's been chompin' on that tail :( Also bought different Allergy Tabs & still giving him the Salmon Oil nuggets. So frustrating <sigh..>. Glad your son is doing better! Your back feeling any better?

Pard, condolences on the loss of your cousin. EH will get better, it just takes time & baby steps :)

TM you're so right about not having fun, 'twas not a good year at all & there's still 2 months to go, sheesh. Great news about Sandra, she'll get there - keep the faith :)

Silverdog's post doesn't sound 1/2 bad LOL.

Roadieboy, you & your wife deserve that getaway. Hopefully one day that girl will grow up... you gave it your all.

Wishing everyone a good day tomorrow!

feeling better today. Got my flu shot Monday afternoon and by bedtime was spiking a mean fever complete with chills and a major headache. Finally seem to be back to normal today. Was not fun, but last winters bout with the flu itself was less fun. I normally have just a little redness, warmth and slight swelling at the injection site. Wondering if last years bout with the flu was the cause of this years reaction?

Roadieboy - So sorry it did not work out. I do hope you left a seed of good in that girl that she will recognize later on. I also hope the new ones are a bit easier. The spa sound nice.

TM - Glad to hear Sandra is making progress. Hope she gets to an independent point sometime soon.

Pard - Son is doing well. His ankle is looking more and more normal, so the antibiotics are doing their thing. They have him on a bit more of an aggressive course of them with his infection history.

working.

Glad to hear your son is out of the hospital Dickc, my brother got out today as well. They got his blood pressure down and the ECG for the weekend looked good, he is taking it easy for a while I guess.

As for my back... ahh... My right leg feels great! and the cream that I have to rub onto my elbow has healed up a crack I have had in my finger nail for a few years!

Winter is knocking on the door here in Saskatchewan, there was snow yesterday, but it was melting as it hit the ground.

There is a mineral spa in Moose Jaw and I think next week I just might take my wife there for a few days. It is called Temple Gardens and we have been there a few times. Once a few years ago we were outside in the water when a light snow began to fall. It was about 8:30 in the evening and dark outside. The pool lights and the steam hanging low and the large snow flakes landing on your head was magical.

The trip will be to help heal, as the young girl that has been with us for 14 months is moving on, to a group home with six or seven other young teen girls. I guess there is only so much we can do if she refuses to listen to us and help herself.
She will only be the second child that we didn't reunite with their parents but the parents have a lot of work left to do getting their own lives in order, they can't also look after a young teen girl.

We have to other young girls coming to stay, sisters, but they wont be with us until the 16th, I think.

Well have a good night everyone.

glad to say my son is home from the hospital. They have him on two weeks of oral antibiotics. He missed a class on Friday, so he spent some time studying last night to try and be caught up for today's class. Catching up is tough for him with the lingering effects of his head injury.

I am a bit frustrated with my back. I seem to be a bit lame. The cortisone shot has made it so I do not feel any structural pain from the back, but I still have the soreness in the hip area. It is looking like the bigger problem is the apparent arthritis in the IS joint. That is keeping me from doing much. If I cannot do much, everything else weakens. I see the doc's office the day after election day for a consult. Looks like I will be asking what they can do for the IS joint that lasts more than 10 days.

Pard - Progress is progress! Hope he keeps making it so they do not move to put him in a nursing home. Would like to see him able to come home and while he might need more assistance than in the past, that would allow him to have the incentive to keep working on it. It would also allow you to travel a bit less.

TM - How is Sandra doing?

very sad. Got news today that a beloved cousin of mine passed away this afternoon. He was a first cousin, and many people thought we were brother and sister. Maybe that's because our fathers were identical twins. Anyway, I'm very sad, I've lost a good friend.
EH is not making a lot of progress, but he's better this week than last, at least he's not in the hospital this week.

sorry Roadieboy has found a girl so good at playing the system. I wish there was a way to show her that it will lead to a life full of difficulties. She really needs to have "the world" gang up on her right now to break her defenses down. The only way I can think of to have that happen is to record everything she says and play it back at the meetings. Not sure how legal that would be.

Son is coming home in a little bit. I have to go get him. Am fighting a bit of a migraine still from Friday so I am waiting for that to die down a little.

Hope Mason stops chewing his tail. Maybe a yummy chew bone or a good bone from the meat department of the local store!

Hoping EH is having a good day and that Pard is getting enough rest.

Thank you Dick, but nothing has changed w/Mason :( Do hope you & your son are feeling somewhat better. Hubby had his surgery on Tuesday (went well) but made 2 trips to ER on Friday; will call the hosp tomorrow & dispute the first trip. Another IP surgery scheduled for next month :o\

Pard, prayers that EH is making progress :)

always in awe of Roadieboy. You know, with my daughter, when she was a teenager (and beyond, too), if I told her something or asked her something she didn't want to hear, it was construed as yelling. 'Why are you YELLING at me'? Drove me utterly crazy.
Wonder if she is really mad at YOU, or mad at her situation and taking it out on you by being two-faced?

Putting your FIL and brother on my prayer list, my friend.

I love Canada, and my whole worldview has been rocked by this past week's events.

at work.

I was hoping to come back with a great story of another child going home or even making progress, but we have been banging our heads against a wall for 14 months with this girl.

She has been in the system for so long that she knows what to say and when to say it, all the while saying the opposite to others she talks to.

She at times tells us how much she loves it here, then at her meeting with her worker say we are so mean and she wants to leave right away, then comes home to tell us how great things are.

I took her up north (well north of here) two weeks ago. We went out on my ATV with several of my friends through the mud and rivers and saw some beautiful sights. I was telling her what a great job she was doing and she was telling me how much fun she was having.
When we got home one of our friends told me she was calling me and my wife all sorts of names and about how mean we are to her.
My friends were floored by how two faced she was, especially for a 13 year old.

Asking to do a simple task is like asking her walk across the country.
Asking her to clear the table is yelling, and asking her to put her own clothes in the washer is mean.

I am not looking for gratitude from her, but some progress would be nice.
She doesn't realize the next stop if this doesn't work out is a group home.
They are taking her by a few to show her what they are like, not as a threat, but to show her she has the choice to live there if she wants.

Then my Father in Law found out he has cancer, he is 78 and to finish out the week, my brother was taken by ambulance to the hospital yesterday with chest pains, he is 60.

Peaceful Canada has home born and raised terrorists killing unarmed soldiers.

This year is ending like a train wreck.

happy to hear EH is back to rehab. I hope he perks up quickly now.

I am still feeling the kind of sore area from the cortisone injection from yesterday. Its just a mild discomfort. It will be another 24-48 hours before anything positive starts to happen. That's OK as I am rained in today. We had RAIN and WIND overnight! My rain gauge has 5 1/2 inches in it, and the gusts peaked at just over 50 MPH last night. Still getting showers and gusts into the 30's today. This will slowly wind down through tomorrow. If this was a snow storm......

Hope all are doing well.

chagrined that I haven't updated anything here lately. EH was admitted to the hospital last Friday with atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure. He's doing some better now, but I don't know how long he will have to stay there. I've been spending 5-6 hours there every day, getting tired of talking to doctors............
