quite happy with SAE (Standard American English) mesurements. I took Chemistry in college, so I do understand the metric system too, I just do not use it in normal life. :>)

at 300 days!

Dickc, guys (and girls) my age learned feet and inches at school and while we were still young it changed to the metric system. I still am 5'9" and tell people I weigh 200 pounds (I am such a liar).
The only metric system I truly have embraced is it is -4 c outside right now and I can drive 50 kph in the city.

Pard, you are correct.

Good night

getting ready to go downtown Detroit to the veteran's hospital. Have several appointments today. I hate pulmonary function tests.

Not only that, but it's been a rough day so far. First, a button worked its way off my cardigan sweater. Then, the Venetian blind slats went up instead of down. Then the Art Linkletter House Party was preempted by a space shot. I tell you, it's been one thing after another.

And do you think that I can find my ankle-length gold coat with sequins and neon buttons that light up in the dark and spell "I'm a Gasser!"

Don't know where it is, last I saw it was when I was putting away my picture of Bill Cullen when he wasn't smiling.

So what could be worse than one abominable snowman?

Kreegah!

a bit on the stiff side this morning. Snow blowing is much easier than shoveling, but it still takes work. I am on the heating pad hoping to relax everything so I can go out and snow blow a third time. It was still snowing at bed time last night, and what fell drifted in. It will not be as bad today to clear, but........

seeing another storm is due on late Thursday. That one looks to be more in the ski areas. This weekend should be good skiing. This one is winding down now with 24 inches on the ground with maybe another inch or two to go. At 2.54 CM's to the inch that means 60 Cm of snow!

watching the snow falling still. 15-18 inches and still coming down, but the storm is winding down a bit now. Still blowing pretty good and the temps are 15°F so its a very powdery snow.

still in Maine. Will go home tomorrow. We are having blizzard warnings with hurricane force wind warnings at the coast for Tuesday! Yikes! I live four miles from the coast, just inland from Salem, Massachusetts. This storm is going to be a bad one for us. We are going to get all caught up with winter. We've only have 9 inches total snow all winter. We are a foot short. Looks like we are going to get 18-24 inches from this one!

Wish I could stay up here and ski in it!!!!!!

sitting quietly in Maine. Wife and daughter have headed back to Mass. Will be here until Monday afternoon. Had a dusting of snow here, more like 8 inches downstate, and only about four at home. Looking like a bigger storm on Tuesday.

In a state of minor shock. A student whose family I know well died this morning. I had her in Germany in the 80s and bowled with her father who was also a teacher. A woman in her 40s(same as my two boys) should not die this early. It's the mommy and daddy and then the kids. I cannot believe.....

doing OK today. Aggravated that rib slightly yesterday so I need to stay somewhat sedentary for a few more days, but it is much better still than it was. Looks quiet on the weather front for the next week here.

CH - Yuck on that prep. Done it twice, disliked it both times.

work.

TM, Jon Ryan, Seattle's punter is from Regina, he played for the Regina Rams. So him throwing a Touchdown pass is the talk of the town.

My GB page asked me if I was sure I was putting in the correct price because it too couldn't believe that gas went up 8 cents a litre all at once. That is 30 cents a gallon all at once.

happy my Patriots are heading back to another SuperBowl. Will be really happy if they win it!

I seem to finally be feeling enough less sore after two weeks to feel like I am well enough to try and do a few things around the house today. While I can still feel that area on the ribs, its much better. Still need to be cautious for another week or three.

Dickc, I did not go to the Auto Show, haven't gone to anything like that in many years, as EH had been so sick for so long and we didn't go anywhere. Glad you have a great car, though!

thinking the young man went a little faster at times with me than he was quite comfortable with, but he never fell, and could control that speed when I instructed him to. He is a bit better of a skier than he knows he is! A few more times out and some independent turns might be in order for him. He just needs to better judge the pitch of the slope and when to turn a bit more to scrub off speed. A few more lessons to work on that and he might be good for letting go.

Feeling still a bit sore today. Was kind of hurting after getting out of bed, but I slept on it most of the night. Since being up it seems to be a bit less sore. Hoping that is a good sign. Also went to the dentist yesterday and had a bothersome tooth drilled and filled. After his first spurt of drilling, he could not find any more decay, so he finished off the edges and filled it back up. Hoping after a few days to settle down, the tooth stops bugging me periodically like it was. It acted like it had a slightly loose filling or a bit of decay around or under the old filling.

Pard - Did you go to last years auto show? If so did you see the very nice slate blue Chevy Silverado in that show? That EXACT pickup is in my driveway. Had 167 miles on it at the local dealer with 4 months used on the warranty. Got a decent discount for that even though I bought it as new. Sticker from it shows it was delivered to General Motors LLC, 100 Renaissance Place, Detroit, MI They picked a nice vehicle to display as I am a very happy owner of it. Kind of unique to own their display vehicle. NOt everyone gets to show people who it was delivered to like that.

Outtacash - Glad things are feeling better for you. Hope they continue to look upwards!

TM - How is Sandra these days?

at work.

Did the young boy slow you down or did you slow him down Dickc?

The cold spell has lifted, it always does! The almost annual January warm up has started. It should be above 0c, 32f, by Saturday!

Pard, I would like to go to the Car show one of these years. I have been paying attention to it since the 70's when we first got cable television. The NBC station was (is) WDIV-TV and the ABC is WXYZ-TV so we watched live remotes from the convention floor. (The CBS doesn't ring a bell, but we had that too.)

Well, back to work.

up early. My little sister is staying at my house because I live closer to Cobo Center in Detroit than she does and she doesn't have such a tough drive into the city. She is working in food service for the North American International Auto Show. Work starts for her at 4 am, so we are both up early! She's having a large time seeing all the new cars come in, that is exciting to see.
